- Xbox's struggles this gen are no secret. Every time they seem ready to turn a corner some seemingly self-inflicted situation sets them back again. They're just skipping gamepass.
Funniest thing ever was when Phil Spencer said putting a game on gamepass would actually increase sales for said game. Everybody that wasn’t a rapid fanboy knew that was an absolute lie then and we’re starting to see how much damage that line of thinking has caused Xbox.

We are in the middle of 2024 and xbox has only released a 5 hour game so far. All these studios, announcements and promises but in reality nothing has changed. Wukong is just a little L compared to their major flaws.
You noticed that too? Poke'world 3rd party game was the only other exclusive & it's almost July. But because a bunch of games that aren't coming anytime soon they slayed the showcase....if Stalker 2 is timed exclusive then there's not much incentive for me to buy an Xbox, I only want that & Hellblade, and I might get starfield amdnracing just because but I'm not dying to play those. This I'll just upgrade my VR headset
Sony has had 0 first party games and had 1 last year. I know as my ps5 is dusty

“What can go wrong”?!?… Xbox just had a show where at least 20 games with high potential is dropping into game pass. Meanwhile ps fans out here scrapping the bottom of the barrel looking for anything to boot up because Sony doesn’t give a fuck about its own fanbase💀😭😭😭… I’ve been noticing a lot of band wagons in those stables lately😭

The Xbox library is drying up because yall are always waiting on gamepass and don’t buy thing a la carte. You still haven’t seen that yet? Why would any non Rockstar or EA dev put my game on Xbox without MS paying me for gamepass?
Dragon Ball Sparking Zero devs already stated earlier that they were having issues on the series, due to two-player Co-op. While they got it to work they only got it on one stage: The Room of Spirit and Time(The hyperbolic Time Chamber). I really think it's the constaint of the Series S holding everything back.
I always wanted a co-op DragonBall game. Knowing that Series S is the reason I won't get that blows, since that wasn't even my platform of choice.

Well you can still order the game from the official Bandai store and also from the Microsoft store!! No official statement other than a couple of random RUclipsrs. It seems it’s still coming to the Series s!!!
Really? The Series S has been blamed for such issues before. And it has ALWAYS turned out that the devs were wrong and/or lying. The Series S can run games like HellBlade 2 and Stalker 2 not to mention all those graphically intensive games shown at the showcase which should, to normal people, spell out its capabilities but to Sony fanbois, I guess the truth hurts enough to be ignored.

Capcom was hacked years ago. Switch version sold like 20 times more then xbox version their sales data showed
For the Capcom collection what I see being and issue is: Low install base on Xbox to begin with, then you have the added issue that most feel satiated by whatever is in Gamepass, so they buy a la carte less than the other platforms. A port would probably only break even at best.
In the case of Black Myth: Well, it's been well documented that the Series S is a potato, so this is just yet another instance reminding everyone of this.
both of these issues are a problem... not enough money... and a hardware bottle neck
so from what i can see there has been 6 games called Marvel v Capcom in the series. the last one which i believe released in 2018 called infinite i think only sold 1 million copies, they hoped for 2 million so it under performed due to expectations. ( i could be wrong ) In this current climate with games not hitting sales expectations it is a bit of a risk not releasing on all platforms but only time will tell if this was a good move or not.. ( how are you supposed to introduce new players to an old franchise if it skips platforms )
again even those this is a classic franchise... its not mainstream so i dont expect it to sell well, especially not enought to warrant complaing about it skipping Xbox.. Maybe its never had an audience on xbox and never will and there is nothing wrong with that.
Series S narative is getting silly.. As stated by Larain Studios, once they got to grips with the xbox architecture and especially with the ram they realised that they could actually improve the performance of the series x and PS5 version from what they learnt. ( cutting corners with ram usage on both the series x and ps5 initially ) Its due to lack of experience with console development as you would think developing on the pc for the lowest spec pc would help them.. pc and console are developed in different ways.
there have been more games released at the same time as the series S version then havent... so we talking maybe out of 50-100 games there has now been 2 games where there has been an issue. its hardly a number worth worrying about.. both games are from indie studios ( lack of console experience )
Wukong again is down to inexperienced devs.... which of course they will learn.. Who really cares if a xbox version releases later, its still getting released. its on the devs for not releasing the game at the same time ( they could delay it ) or maybe ask for help earlier? they are a small dev team of 30 people or more so in reality we shoudnt be putting this much pressure on them. as we want these smaller dev teams to be successful and grow.. and especially not get dragged into dumb fanboi wars.

if the games good thats great but if it ok then what do you expect from a 30+ team...and especially developing, QA testing and releasing 3 versions on time. of course the priority will be PC and the PS5, they after all have the most users currently...
From a small team wouldnt you prioritise finicial return over keeping good relations with the all playerbases as it seems they made there choice due to finances?
You never know, xbox could get physical collectors edition when it releases just like BG3 did and not the digital version releasing in August. who knows!!!! ( in the end it does not matter )
we should be celebrating these devs for hopefully making a good game and not dragging them into console wars.. Even i wont be an adpoter on PC at launch as i have to clear some of my back log as i have too many to play.... im even not buying Elden Ring DLC at launch... spent to much money on games so far this year!!!!
@@plummleys4514 You're missing a lot here, I'll start with the biggest one, because it seems like you don't know why Baldur's Gate III was delayed on Xbox.
Baldur's Gate III has splitscreen co-op as a feature, and they wanted to get this to work on Series S and couldn't. Microsoft even sent their OWN devs to go help to get it to work, and it still didn't work. So, ultimately it ended up shipping without this feature. That's not "inexperience" and it's not "bad developers". When Xbox's own engineers can't get it to work, it's not a dev issue, it's a hardware issue.
The fact of the matter is, in some cases devs are hitting a wall where they simply have to give Xbox a lesser version with less features because of the Series S.
Blaming the devs is nonsensical, when we already know Series S is working with less gigs of RAM than the ONE X (a last gen console).
The issues with Series S being an underpowered box has nothing to do with console wars.
Playstation 4 & PC have large install base but Monster Hunter Stories 2 has only sold 100,000 copies.

If you understood this you would understand that the PS5, Xbox series version of POE2 has no split screen co-op And that too is a new game yet to release. And this was shown at the state of play. Slit screen with current gen development is resource heavy!!! Hence RAM!!! It will become a bottle neck!!! That’s why pc’s have ram, gpu ram and virtual ram!!! It clearly is an issue with development. Split screen is not a necessity.
With wukong we can’t make any assumptions unless a feature has been removed. Now it clearly doesn’t have split screen so it will be interesting to see if any features are removed!! These current gen consoles are designed to reduce resolution and then upscale to save resources!! This has no issue on the series s, it’s the ram with 16gb being the recommend for the game. Series s has 10. But modern games are running on a steam deck and ROG and those specs are worse than a series s. It’s devs and optimisation!!!
Just wait, if GTA 6 is delayed on Xbox because of the series S, it will be a disaster for Xbox.

I don't think the Series S itself was a huge mistake. It pretty much saved the early part of this console generation when PS5 and Series X consoles were being hoarded by scalpers. The huge mistake was giving the Series S 10 GB of RAM instead of 16. Developers can work with a less powerful GPU, but having only 5/8ths of the RAM that the other major consoles have is a real issue.
Something I’ve noticed is an insane amount of Doom Dark Ages adds. The game is what 9 months away has no ratting and they already pushing it this hard? Either RUclips add is busted or Microsoft is desperate for this to be a win and their new big thing after the endless failures of new big things.
Windows Central has reported that Capcoms older MT Framework aren't compatible with Xbox's newer Era System. So it cost to much to port. Sounds like Microsoft needs to get involved.

Phil and Xbox have groomed thier fans for the last half decade that buying games is unecessary. So guess what, Xbox fans stopped buyin games. Publishers are going to skip Xbox more and more. It's a empty platform with little growth. There is no ROI on putting games on Xbox. Even the heavy hitters like Starfield, Hellblade etc have sold poorly. Going 3rd party is the only way the Xbox brand survives.

Games have lower and lower chance to get me paying full price and Xbox is really just one of the contributing factors. Steam, Epic, IGN (Humble),... Sheer volume of games VS time to play.

You’re right on the money. This is hardly the first time something like this happened. I remember the ps3 and how many developers skipped and said that their software wasn’t developer friendly. Xbox is on a similar situation but worse. Their experiment of having two consoles a cheap and premium version just proved to be a bad choice. Xbox should make one console exclusively for game pass and the other a traditional gaming experience. Still not a great fix, but something.
I think its going to be worse when switch 2 arrives and can run more demanding games.
It's already getting games that are skipping Xbox and I think it will get way more serious when the hardware isn't as behind.
Yesterday there was a Warframe update and it caused the series S not to be able to play the game I’m thinking it was because that update increased the enemy spawn on the current gen console to meet what they are on PC they did fix the problem tho
Monster Hunter Stories 1 and 2, also from Capcom, recently released on PS4/PS5 as well with no XBox release. It is kind of weird since many of these clearly aren’t due to the S. We also had games like Granblue Fantasy Relink skip XBox a few months ago. It’s quite a few games now.
Devs just choosing to skip XBox is it’s own issue. But we’ve seen hardware issues before. The same thing happened to the PS3 many times that gen with the 360 gettinfg exclusivity by default without a deal in place or an inferior or compromised PS3 version coming up to a year later in some cases. Back then we had different versions all the time though. Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell were far far paired down experiences on PS3 for example. XBox should know better because of this which makes the S such a standout thorn in their side. They’re stuck with it though and it will be interesting to see what they do next gen.
It won't matter, Microsoft themselves will stop making games for "Xbox".
The next hardware from Microsoft will be a Windows device. That way all the big publishers including Microsoft will only need to make the PC and PlayStation versions of games. The only thing "Xbox" about their next device, will be backwards compatibility. Phil said they are making their games "forward compatible", he also said he wanted steam on the next device. They also have just been referring to it as "device" or "hardware".
This will allow them to get out of Sonys way since they'll be publishing on PlayStation anyway, and it also allows them to keep 3rd party support, all while streamlining development. Its the only thing that makes sense
At one time was considering Xbox Series S until it became obvious that these issues were going on and many near view assets were straight up missing from the XSS version of games. Wouldn't touch Xbox Series S with a pole vaulting pole.

I can't blame the devs for not wanting to go to Xbox. If I were a dev I'd skip them too. Gamepass, while successful, is a parasite.

Xbox said that GamePass needs over 100 million subscribers to be sustainable and profitable. They barely over 30 million. It's not a success, they putting games on PLAYSTATION for goodness sake.

Im pretty sure that Microsoft or some other AI will vastly accelerate devs’ ability to pipeline projects from one platform to another. This is inevitable albeit scary for people to hear because it will be at the expense of jobs; it’s the reality, esp in the face of rising dev costs.

The Xbox Series S mandate, yep. It is a big reason why. Devs definitely stated that clearly in conference interviews. So, if Phil said there is no hardware reason that was a boldface lie. Being outsold 3 to 1 probably doesn’t help either, from a standpoint of dedicating resources to make it work on Series S. Black Myth Wukong is actually surprising, because I remember early rumors indicating it may not even come to Playstation at all.
Gamepass is Just one of the problems. Xbots Just dont buy games. They Just expect every game to land on gamepass

The devs said it was a engine problem with the capcom fighting collection. This game uses the capcom's old MT engine which is not supported by Xbox one or series S/X. Xbox one and series S/X support the newer RE engine.
Xbox is Game Pass. So why should a third party developer release on Xbox if they don't have a Game Pass deal?
Spending close to 200 billion on buying studios and now the Microsoft brand wants their investment to actually start making money. Xbox has yet to sell a 100 million console.
I have gamepass and have bought plenty of games for keeps if I liked the game enough. Games that aren't on gamepass I buy if the reviews are good and it's to my taste. I have over 600 games in my library

MT Framework issue though why does it work for PS4? It's something to do with Microsoft's SDK for their Xbox one.
And? They just need to update it. Just like every engines were updated to run on the PS5 or the XS. Now, it seems they don't think it worth it to upgrade it, there's no money to be made on xbox.
@@madjoe8622 Well I think it has more to do with netcode within the SDK which I believe leads to security patches. Playstation and Switch use non Direct X Api's, and non Windows based Network Protocols. I think thats the main issues on top of collections like these dont sell on xbox. And btw this collection has the most hype out of the Fight COmmunity because it bodes well for a new MVC title.
They tried to undercut the industry with Gamepass and Series S. I'm glad it didnt work. Woulda been the Armageddon for our hobby.
I have only bought 7 games since I've purchased the series X. All of those games are either from the original Xbox or the 360. Any other game that I actually purchased that's newer is either on my PC or my playstation 5. I don't buy new games on Series X. Even if there is a game on gamepass that I want to own, like when Monster Hunter Rise dropped day 1, I still bought it on PS5. If I bought it on Xbox mentally, I would have felt like I purchased a free game for $70.

Keep dreaming. We've had developers in the past outright saying that making Xbox ports is a royal pain because of how unreliable their hardware is. Splitting the capabilities by making two tiers only makes the situation worse.

To be honest, as a Xbox gamepass user, I don't care about games that aren't coming to Xbox. I own a PS4 and a Nintendo switch. So I really don't care, I have enough gamepass games to play with a lot of backlog. Currently playing Calisto protocol and having fun.
Xbox really is the place to be for every game thats been a big deal this gen like baldurs gate 3 and the mvc rereleases, at least they got hellblade 2 to flex lol 😅

I think you are dead on with this take. I'm someone that has every system (and a gaming PC) I'm also a big advocate for physical games. But even I have hardly bought any modern games for my series x do to gamepass (Xbox has also become the system I play on the least shoot I play old license games on my 360 more then I have played on my series X)

Now that Microsoft owns so many studios, do they really need third party support? I've noticed a shift in the talking points from "exclusives are anti-consumer" to "first party exclusives are the only reason to buy a console." Xbox could be counting on the strength of their first party exclusives to carry them, much has Nintendo has done.
The whole absolutely moronic and idiotic "exclusives are anti-consumer" argument has only been pushed by Xbox (Spencer himself several times) while Xbox did just not have any worthwhile exclusives themselves. Now that this might change, it's suddenly not "anti-consumer" anymore. The hypocrisy is mind-boggling.... but that aside, exclusives ALWAYS sold consoles. Nintendo has been living proof of this for decades. Nobody buys their consoles because of superior hardware, but they keep outselling everybody.
Then again... looking at the latest developments, I'm not sure there will be any exclusives on Xbox anymore, as it slowly turns into "Windows Gaming" and wants to sell games on all consoles.

@shawnbenjamin9636 lol, this is a joke, right? Xbox owns so many studios and IPs. Call of duty alone secures their immediate and distant future. Not all devs will skip xbox. Also, I look at it as a dev problem, not a xbox problem. People need to worry about Playstation, actually, in my opinion.
@@tshep1985 Much good having those IPs will do if there's a serious lack of talent. I've been looking from the outside for the longest time. Any time Xbox/Microsoft gets its hands on something, that thing eventually becomes a frail shell of its former self.
Not to mention that I'm not put into a good mood after that Microsoft official at GDC proclaimed how their studio culture and "boundaries" will be going forward.
And Activision's reputation is so full of holes that it's basically Swiss cheese. That's without mentioning Call of Duty's decline in quality for more than a decade.

They are a cult. Every game that's announced for xbox, I see the comments "Is it coming to GamePass?" "I'll just wait for it to come to GamePass" " I'm not paying for games when I play for free on GamePass." Phil and co and their remaining fanbase have done this to themselves
Thx jesus that black myth wukong is coming a bit later on series x couse it will be better optimise especially couse it was built on unreal 5 engine and every game that came out until now is performing better 5 to 15 % on series x then ps5 ,plus u will not get a fisical copy if the game in the box but just a code ,so its better to wait and will get a better version of the game and maybe a real disc! By the way l own a ps5 so do not bother to insult me !l am just telling u the truth! Love both of my consoles xbox and ps5 great consoles that r giving me so much joy !
Playstation built the consol according to what the devs where asking for. Xbox did the opposite. Not only that but they killed the health of their own market with day and date on gamepass and PC.

Sony/PlayStation don't need to scream exclusive, the fact the game doesn't run on Xbox or is missing features is 10x better than paying for the exclusive marketing Ads.
Not that I think that's what Sony are doing because if it got out that they were doing that then I think the Anti Trust thing ect would kick in.
The ABK acquisition put the final nail in the coffin of Xbox, Nadella reigned in Phill and is callling the shots now. Even MS cannot ignore a 70 billion dollar deal and not expect to see the return of that investment soon, and after Starfield and Redfall failed to increase GP numbers or move serious numbers in terms of hardware sales, Nadella moved in to take charge and start getting money back by releasing everything on every platform. It's just a shame that the industry suffered because of the series S and one of my favorite upcoming games Kingdom Come deliverance 2 suffers from this and even the devs said it was a bottleneck.

Nothing stop them to upgrade their framework to run on XS. You know, ever engines in the world had to be modified to run on PS5 and XS. But It just not worth it.
@@madjoe8622They already upgraded the MT Framework engine, the RE Engine. It is just that they don't want to put in work on some old games. The last MT Framework game to release on an Xbox system was the Capcom Fighting Collection in 2022 which released on the Xbox One.
I guess it didn't sell enough on Xbox because Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection is basically Capcom Fighting Collection 2.
I think BG3 and Black Myth are the wake up call games. At some point fans of the platform must start asking “Are the pros, worth the cons” it’s one thing when fans are speaking out saying it’s on the devs and it’s another thing in it self when DEVS the ppl who make the GAMES are saying “This is bad for us”. If this continues… not only will ppl abandon Xbox more and more. But the more Xbox will just try and consume another publisher to make up for this nonsense.

i find that that's just a lame excuse from the dev's games like Marvel vs Capcom aren't using the same frame rate as say call of duty i don't even think that M.V.C. 1 uses 60 fps i believe its less. i don't even play games on game pass i perches games on Xbox store. And the reason i don't have a PS5 has to do with the flaw of the ps4. that has to do with if the PlayStation wire gets knocked out for any reason you'll have to do the painstaking work of resetting factory mode with a flash drive.
The Xbox has never been a priority for Xbox unless it came from a Xbox/Microsoft owned company. payday came out on steam, windows and PlayStation before Xbox
