Starfield is Just Getting Started

- Starfield was one of the most anticipated titles in Xbox history. It landed well for some but not very well with most and has had its share of trouble since its launch but in a recent interview with @MrMattyPlays Todd Howard is saying some things that have me wondering - is Starfield just getting started?
Starfield is a 2023 action role-playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. In the game, the player character joins a group of space explorers who must venture to various corners of the galaxy to acquire mysterious artifacts.

There are 1000 planets for 1000 DLCs.
Basically
Save some space on that hard drive 😅
Co op space dog fighting would be dope
it would!
But never gonna happen. So keep dreaming and ignoring reality. 0:59
IMO they fell to the success of Skyrim instead of sticking to development they knew, they had this “we need 10 year engagement!” Because of that starfield suffered for it…leaning too much on procedural generated content, enemy placement became predictable, every corridor and loot placement was repetitive. I was so stoked for this game, hope it gets its phantom liberty moment as well
i can see that
Oh man, I've been trying to wait before playing hoping that Starfield would get the CDPR treatment! I just started my first playthrough cause I really want to play Starfield, but this doesn't sound promising just yet 🤦
Bruh ..... Yet the game did way better than Skyrim
I hope the expansion has some character. My main complaint with the main game is that is just feels sanitized. None of the characters have any personality. It's has no grit. It's just safe and bland.
agreed
Because it was rushed and thrown together cutting as many corners as possible to get a release for Microsoft gamepass. Starfeild was unfortunately sacrificed
The whole thing takes place in one planet, so in think it will. It’ll be a traditional Bethesda world
The main story characters didn't really... But the FACTION quests have some incredible characters with lots of depth
@@yesteryearr"depth" is a word that is completely unknown to Bethesda. None of their rpgs have any depth whatsoever.
I'm looking forward to jumping back into Starfield full time if I can stop playing Fallout4 . I understand Bethesda games more now than I did when Starfield launched and the added features and new content have me excited. I'll always wish I could take off fly and land the ships but hey ho.
I jumped back in after not really liking it after my first playthrough. I have recently put 200 hours into the game and I can tell you it's absolutely incredible
0:50 over 100 hours on fallout 4? ... casual...
Lol nobody cares
@@ReforgeGaming Not sure why you're being aggressive.
Playing Fallout 4 from start to finish, including all DLCs, sidequests, settlements, and raiders, should take way longer than 100 hours if it's your first playthrough. This doesn't include mods, which are a different kind of rabbit hole.
Finishing Starfield also takes almost 20-30 hours, and I'm not accounting for 100% completion nor for actually building settlements on each planet to make a multi-resource farm.
So yeah, I expected this kind of response from a braindead viewer, not from a fully-fledged RUclipsr who throws opinions online. Looks like your reputation is well-deserved.
Enjoy your week, mister.
Cuz f4 is dogshit
@@senaris I've prolly got like 80 in it, never really could get into it, so was scared that Starfield might be the same, but no..... Ive put 830 hrs in Starfield already.... Loving it
110 hours in fallout? Rookie numbers.
I hope they cut the loading screens time in half because I will just give up completely if not
Its refreshing to see someone talk positively about Starfield, in my opinion, it doesnt deserve the hate despite the controversy, its a good game! Just needs some work in certain aspects, some tweaks here and there, and some QOL improvements concerning some major gampeplay mechanics.
I have 3 suggestions:
1. Resource management in ouposts - It can be annoying to connect some storage units or pull resources from massive storage, so a better way to attach storage units together would be nice, and a console to pull specific resources out of storage containers would be helpful.
2. The temple grind is so tedious, that its so unrealistic to try and get to NG+ 10 with fully upgraded powers... maybe a change to the way temple quests are started would be cool, like direct communication with vlad on the watch, and of course planet traversal would improve the grind but they're already working on it, I just hope the vehicle is quick lol
3. Coordinates, for the love of god 😂 this one should have been included from the get go like the map. Starting a NG+ run trying to find the outpost location you had before is a nightmare, so that's almost a must have.
Anyone agree?
As a Death Stranding fan, I think Starfield would have been a perfect platform for shared outposts on planets mixed into the RNG of the Premade facilities
The only reason im even considering the DLC is because I didnt spend on the base game, it came with my CPU
Otherwise i don't know how anyone that paid money for Starfield could ever think it's a good idea to buy the dlc. If the game is just gonna eventually be good due to dlc and mods, just buy them all for $15 in a couple years
I hope that they get around to fixing the myriad of bugs that still infest this game...🙏🏻🤞🏻
why would I want to spend more money on a game for some content, when it should have already came with content. They made a blank canvas just to sell dlc?
Bruh..... That's the story with literally every game in history..... Don't put it all on Starfield....
@@amitansurkar1769 first, learn what literally means. 2. Looks up stardew valley, baldurs gate 3, vintage story, elden ring, satisfactory, raft, and you will see your idea holds no water. If you like Starfield, then I want you to know I am genuinely happy for you. That being said, the game was a waste of resources and smaller teams could have done much more with far less.
@@PhoenixBlade oh please quite being a smartass your straight up embarrassing yourself....... Bg3.... Elden ring?? Bruh you LITERALLY are dick riding them games because the internet wants you to think they are perfect..... Well guess what they aren't, I've played both and I much more prefer Starfield..... I'm glad that you are happy for me enjoying Starfield, so then don't FUCKING reply to me bitch ..... And again stop being a smaartass
The only issue is than an overhaul would break mods most likely no? I’d Bethesda going to go back and repair all the broken paid mods if they overhaul this game?
Support = milking as much money from players
It got started when? Still seems unfinished to me.
Enjoying the game.. really happy there’s more and more content and mods coming. Laughing at the haters who don’t get to enjoy it
There's always both types of opinions. How you know if your right or not is whether your the majority or not. That's how that works. So where does this game stand to the majority of the audience? Hot garbage, so don't waste your money, no matter what these minority pip squeaks tell you from behind their screens. Congrats, you now know how opinions work!
@@Jacko0_0 you’re one of the people I’m laughing at

@@WrangleMcDangle all my mods are free, I can mod stuff for myself and play with game files. I’m no expert modder or anything but I can make the game how I want and change what I don’t like for myself. Like I said, if you wanna hate then hate but I’m enjoying myself and having fun. The game was a worthwhile purchase for me. You do you
@@BeardedGuy_Tawhid are you just turning your blinders on when bethesda releases mods as micro transactions? it doesn't matter what YOU can do when my point is bethesda will continue to do things like this because they A. don't finish their games and B. have idiots like you that will cope for them
I can say for myself I’m looking forward to shattered space, and I defend the game too. I think an online starfield would be fun, in where we can choose to be UC FC or CF, and either explore or fight one another or even work together either way.
It would be nice if Starfield became a online community game like Elder Scrolls I love playing Elder Scrolls and seeing so many other players from all over the World.
I'm still playing the tons of mods and the mods are making the game pretty enjoyable right now. Although your community specifically I don't think would be into the game.
❤❤❤❤❤
I love Starfield and cannot wait for shattered space!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I dont get why people who hate the game still follow videos about it and spend time commenting. What a waste of your time. Do something you love, guys! ❤
I liked the game 2.
because if only brainless dweebs like you interacted with Starfield content then Bethesda would think they made a finished game.
😂😂😂😂
oh god are you one of those losers who is all about that “only positivity”.
Get a life
True
I played this game like it was my job for like three months straight lol, just ignore the haters, they are just following what some youtuber told them cus they don't know how to think for themselves
They still can support skyrim and fo4. Both still have more players then starfield.
Awesome game already, better after the May and June updates and the Creations launch.
Subjective is the fundamental term when it comes to games. The thing I’ve found most telling about the reception to Starfield is how people have reacted to other people’s enjoyment of it… Closely related to an entire subject around the absurd polarisation in politics imho, and more a symptom of the damage social media has done to our entire culture than any real, tangible critique of what people “should” or “should not” enjoy.
In short, people are mentally ill ubiquitously in 2024 and it is totally normalised in western society.
Perfectly said 👍
Buddy, as a Bethesda fanboy you obviously have no standards whatsoever when it comes to games, but I will still try to explain to you why this game is so hated.
It's because Starfield is not a game, it's a starting point to a game. Think of all of the features Starfield could have had, do you think Starfield lacks so many features because Bethesda thought it would make the game better? Of course not, they didn't add those features because they knew modders wouldbdo it eventually.
Do you see now why you're so wrong and why I'm saying you have no standards whatsoever? A game simply CANNOT rely on mods. You're supposed to pay 70 dollars for a good game, not for a chance to make a good game. Have some standards.
@@JuanDiegoCorreaQuintero-ss1pdhave you ever thought that maybe the game just isn’t for you and that it’s not bad? The game is objectively fun and the “lack of content” arguement is total bs considering I’m 400 hours in and still find new quests and armor and weapons and things to do
@@JuanDiegoCorreaQuintero-ss1pd 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Give me things to do on planets, give us some vehicles to at least add some fun to the gameplay. Would even be cool to let us fly on planets with flying creatures stuff like this would go a long way to make the game fun.
Hoping so tho I’m one of the few that’s loved it from the start
I bet they release it on ps store, but highly highly doubt it ever gets a multiplayer aspect. Just looking at history here.
They can do online just none of the modifications. It’s one of the other you could play it single player with mods or online with mods you gotta have a sacrifice. I prefer just playing the single player game. I play fallout 76 enough and multiplayer.
Hope Bethesda eventually lets us cruise around the planet surface w/ our space ships, that was my biggest disappointment
If you wanted that you should've bought no man's sky.
I think it will not reach the same level as phantom liberty cameback. Starfield design are too anti immersive it's too segmented and feels outdated
What if it was the Creative Engine 3.0? (I strongly dislike this engine) but picture a Starfield laid out like Minecraft or FO76; each player can have their own server/ planet and spacestation then travel to a common neutral space (GTA online) to interact with 30+ players at a time. Add your friends and their companions (Co-Op) as shipmates or build your own fleet with them. (Guild) as you mine, outpost, and bounty your way to elite status and prestige across the galaxy. Be the space trucker, open a Chunks franchise, challenge other fleets, build your street gangs or role play on the side of the UC/ Freestar Rangers and go after other player and NPCs. Or simply craft unique items for your pet teramorph and unlock secrets of the Starborn in the furthest corners of the galaxy while traversing treacherous terrain on hostile planets. Build your empire amongst the stars...
It could be the Indiana Jones game as well. Instead of Starfield online.
cough cough.. sweet baby
if they could do more in our solar system id be so happy. it fell off after that in my opion.
The modding community has stepped up quite a bit. With the CK being dropped, PC users will have frontline access to mods that will, just like Skyrim and Fallout, extend the life of the game into the stratosphere. Playing Skyrim right now... with 2,737 Mods.. but still...
Holy F man 😂 that's some mod list! 🤘 I'm a poor and lowly consol player, so kinda hoping more mods get ported to the Creation Club soon!
I too wish the best for this game. I enjoy it but it needs more to be on par with Skyrim. Fallout 4 is a fluff piece compared to previous, imo.
I tried to play it again last night and my god it’s just not good. The writing the million loading screen. The complicated docking procedures. BORING. It’s just boring
Remember 💫STARFIELD will NEVER be on PS5
lol ok
Omg pettiness o'clock.
Bur it's ok if ps holds back games from gamers, I'd rather have everyone play then anyone be excluded just cause the stupid box they play on, when your a true gamer u don't wish for anything being kept from other, I'm glad to see the times changing and sony will in time which is what I want for actual gamers
…………..aint that like saying ps5 dont have herbies?
It will they're just going to get all the updates and patches out first. Basically Playstation will get the game that should have released at launch 😅
Have we just become too spoiled as gamers? Long development windows, mixed messaging from developers, and broken promises lead me to believe the industry has promised too much or we expect too much. As always, great video Lono.
No such thing as an entitled consumer. No one owes a business their money and it’s the business’s job to convince the consumer to hand up their money.
If you fell like nothing on the market is good enough, that’s not entitlement. That’s an industry failing to capture a market. People shouldn’t have to do self work to convince themselves to give you their money 😂.
@@EggEnjoyer that’s not what I was proposing. Good day.
@@EggEnjoyer Your wrong. Personal entitlement is running rampant in modern society. This stems into everything. Political differences, religious superiority, gun rights, abortion rights.
It all stems from a personal sense of entitlement. That you deserve something without working for it.
When it comes to games the gamer community has been spoiled with amazing games that have set the bar unbelievably high. With each game studio attempting to compete with each other for the gamer's money.
Consider this. How long did it take to play and beat a game 20 years ago? 15 hours tops?
Now it's almost expected for a game to contain 100+ hours of content. For the same 60$ that was paid 20 years ago.
The expectations continue, HD 4k graphics, 60 fps, engaging stories. The list goes on and on.
No matter how good your game is. People will pick it apart and make it terrible.
Selectively edited glitch montages that go viral. Review bombing.
Demanding more and more game for the same 60-70$ that you paid for a game 20 years ago.
That is the definition of entitlement. Demanding more for the same price.
@@boomer150 This is like saying consumers are entitled for not buying a new iPhone every year anymore.
People pay for novelty. If the cost of gaming new and novel games that appeal to players is a $100 game that no one wants to buy, then the industry is cooked. You can’t ask the consumer to change what they want so that you get their money. Pack up your bags or release a product people pay for. There’s no moral or social argument to be made in a market economy
@@EggEnjoyer Yeah I am not following this comment. Doesn't make any sense.
All I am saying is nobody is entitled to anything. We get what we get.
If you continue to set unrealistic expectations for what you buy. You are setting yourself up for disappointment.
If you don't like the game, then don't buy it. But if you buy it then don't bitch about it.
The term "buyer beware" has been around my whole life. Interesting that you don't hear that much anymore.
Couldn’t the new engine that Zenimax online is working in be Creation engine 2?
i thought that was supposed to be what starfield was in?
Starfiled online would be great if made but it needs to launch better the fallout 76 .

@@joeswarson4580 maybe. But the biggest worry is that Starfield is a negative predictor for TES 6
Mediocre and bland lore and art style in Starfield, way too much procedurally generated nothingness, a lack of creativity, too many loading screens, paid creation kit quests to the tune of 7 US Dollars
None of it is promising for TES 6, a long anticipated sequel to some of the greatest games of all time
"Its just getting started" is the worst mindset to have. Why are we just expected to want to play games that are half-baked, and sit around giving money to bethesda while they gradually make the game slightly more playable over the course of multiple years
I've almost beat the whole storyline. I'm going to start a new character mods sometime soon and the shipbuilding
Starfield needs to add alien enemies that are intelligent beings & not just monsters. Something like from Fallout 3
That’s not what the game is about
Creations are already helping me shape the game to how I want it.
My resource containers now hold 10 times their normal contents. My followers follow me with less annoying behaviors, and Rosie Tannehill officially functions as my ship's doctor, with the ability to heal me. All I need now is the land vehicle, more POI variety, Shattered Space and additional quests. Another thing I would like is a faction reputation system and NPC responses to good and bad reputations.

Starfield Online not being on the creation engine would be a good thing. Maybe the new engine could allow us to fully explore planets and space without having to fast travel to each section of the planet and space.
Only thing about starfield as exploration like NMS is its a bit too realistic as it will take hours if not days to enter the atmosphere of a planet lol. i'll take fast travel in this one lol.
@@jeffthompson6162 no it wouldn't. No space games were you can land on a planet manually does it take hours.

@@jeffthompson6162 Its a video game. Just stop doing this to yourself. All that stuff I am talking about was in the game but Bethesda took it out. Nothing in Starfield is realistic. The excuses you guys make for this MID game is getting really sad. Todd even talked about they took the fuel aspect out of the game so you would not get stranded in space. That right there shows you at one time you could travel from planet to planet but bc of the S probably they took it out. The starfield we got is not the starfield that was originally planned or promised. also the whole grav drive nonsense is just silly , so Bethesda wants to tell me they can warp from solar system to solar system but they cant travel in that star system from planet to planet. The logic does not even make any sense. Its just an excuse bc they had to water the game down for series s.

I really wanted to love Starfield. I ignored criticisms, played the main story and gave the side quests a good try.
But it's just bland as hell. There is no "awe" moments like there were in previous Bethesda games. The main story does hook you for a little bit but becomes the biggest anticlimax in recent memory for me.
Even the upcoming story expansion has little interest for me. I'm worried for ES6 at this rate. I don't think it's too big to fail if they're still trying to push Starfield into being a 10+ year game, I hope I'm wrong.

The more mastery the team has over the game engine and the more familiarity they have with the current hardware the better the content will be I think the game will be quite different in 3 years.

Playstation doesn't deserve Starfield 😂😂
Fallout 4 sales say otherwise. Money talks.
Here is how much Bethesda loves their fans:
They addressed negative criticism by rolling out bot replies to negative reviews and tried to pass them off as replies from real devs. They think their fans are idiots.
Now they are adding paid mods. You get what you give.
Really just sounds like a lot of marketing buzzwords coming from thesda but here's hoping they follow through!
Game never gonna be good iys good lying g akk the time
You have to be a certain kind of gamer to enjoy Starfield. It's not for everyone. They should have known this is a game that was not going to appeal to the casual audience. Most gamers have lower attention spans
or are ust impatient and get bored easily. If you can't hold their attention, they are gone. I played the whole game through, and the criticisms are valid. It's very bland and lifeless. I tried exploring a lot of the game, and there's just really nothing. Planets all have a copy and pasted layout. For example, dungeons and caves all look the same on every planet. They couldn't think that running around scanning planets would be fun. Same human enemies and the same buildings on every planet. Poor writing and lack of interesting characters. Way too much grinding. Skills are boring. The powers can be fun but weren't worth the hassle to max them out. I enjoyed the ship building, but other than that, there's just not much. It just needed to be a fun game with great exploration like past Bethesda titles, and it just doesn't do those things well at all. The worst thing a game can be is boring. I don't think the DLC will be meaty enough to change the game it needs a lot more gameplay depth that makes the game fun to play.
How many times does Todd Howard have to flat out lie to you people before you stop listening to anything he says? Lol. Y'all are ridiculous.
What did Todd lie about with Starfield?

Thing is cyberpunk was a buggy mess whit a good game underneath, while starfield has nothing to fix it is as intendead, just a bad idea that got fundead and will remain so before and after updates.

XBox is a toxic company right now, where game development is virtually impossible. Starfield will never be more than skid marks on the toilet bowl that you hope go away. Its symbolic of the anti gamer culture dominating the megacorps right now. Sony is no better, so dont think this is a fanboy thing. The video game industry is a clown show of activists & incompetents more worried about keeping people they dont like from getting jobs making video games, than actually making video games. I am a fan of Todd Howard -- he needs to get away from XBox asap. He will never put out another good game until has total artistic control again.
As for fixing Starfield -- that turd has sailed.
Too little too late, mostly everybody already played this game and they’re not gonna go back. Video games need to be completed at launch to give everybody the full experience. Most people only play a game once and never go back.
Ask Cyberpunk Definitely gonna give this another round
Spoiler... People already are coming back... and a very large chunk of them never actually left...
Starfield was not good at all to me but you are wrong on this one.
@@Tuce112thstarfeild is no cyberpunk though. Bethesda has needed to step it up for a while now to compete with the likes of cdpr and warhorse studios
Here comes the Paladins of Maximum defense, guys please just stop, this game left a bad taste on everybody mouth, be the graffics, repetitive places or the mandatory load screens every 20 seconds if you want to visit a city.
The grace this garbage of a game is getting is on another level surpassing CD Projeck Red’s debut. The difference with Cyber Punk and Starfield in the beginning was that Cyber punk wasn’t trash, it was just a little broken, what makes Starfield a** is the way it was developed, it was trash since the beginning, sorry not sorry, I call a spade a spade.
No one even plays starfield anymore and no one will go back
Assuming you want a serious conversation.
The players did come back after the Creation Kit release. From 5k players just the last month to 10k players.
Not actually a great come back, but eh, gotta start from somewhere :P
I went back 😅
@@Brimst0ne_XBMe too!
I went back and now I am addicted again
Says the millions of people who played it at launch. Says the tens thousands of people who still play it across platforms. Says the thousands of people returning to play it again. Take some copium
I have been on and of the fence for this game. But after 6 months and more updates than I care for , honestly this is absolutely shit house !
