I played anthem a few days ago. I really wish they were able to finish anthem 2.0 bc there is a lot to like about anthem and where it could go. Everything is there, it literally just needed more time in the oven
I have over 1k hours in Anthem and I loved every second of it!🚀 The story was lackluster, but I don't play looter shooters for the story, just the combat and making a fun build. I moved on to Outriders afterwards and that was fun, but not as much as Anthem. I still have Anthem installed on my hd too.
@@relax5367 The endgame was indeed lackluster. It was the combat and the flying mechanics that kept me, it was super fun to play. I made a poison melee Interceptor build, and the adrenaline rush of getting the gear I needed to make the build was addicting. I don't play any looter games for the story, even though it does help with immersion I just play for fun and it's not like I played it all day long, I played for only a few hours, then moved on to other games before playing Anthem again, until my build was completed.
That just crazy how much time u put in that bare bone game i have like 70-100days (should check it) on ark which is my most played game and u got 1000h on anthem just mindblowing
EA was innocent. They always were idiot, it was all Bioware fault here n they became pussies for abandoning projects ever since n they'll do it again soon kiddo
This was a great breakdown of what is probably one of the biggest tragedies of game releases in the last 20 yrs. I've been gaming for 45 years, and to this day, ignoring all the other issues with the game, I have NEVER had as enjoyable an action combat/traversal experience as Interceptor combat in Anthem. The other classes not so much, but Interceptor, with the full speed melee and the mod that let you reload every 3 dashes, was the best and most fun and frenetic action combat I had ever seen. Not to mention just how crisp and accurate the flying was. With a controller you could literally 3 way dash in a triangle and stop on a dime right on top of some 400 ft spire to just take in the environment. And the weight you felt of your javelin ever time you landed was perfect. If only anything else about the game was as epic as the combat and traversal. It not only could have been real competition for Destiny but could have influenced the ARPG/action shooter spaces for decades. Instead we got EA being EA. I can't even hear the number 1.3 anywhere without feeling a wave of disappointment which usually lasts about 11 hours. If you know, you know...unfortunately.
I was a Destiny player shopping around for "destiny killers" around the time Anthem came out. I never played but it's sad to hear just how much we're missing out on with its development being cancelled.
I agree intys combat was great and it's one of my favorite Java too. But imo storm and ranger were just as good, colossus was only 1 I couldn't get into. Ranger had so many build options also like intys and storms did too honestly but every1 just hopped on the binary star/steam vent meta train. But storm had some absolutely amazing weapon builds as well like with ToT or wyvern sniper, avenging herald, death from above etc. Not to mention able to get ralnalrs blaze tics to ridiculous lvls. But yes the combat/flying for those 3 javs was best time I've ever had in a video game prolly and I don't even like shooters for real so it's amazing anthem held my attention from day 1 to months after shut down and actually recently bought again after 2yrs and restarted accnt and am having a blast now again
really sad that Anthem never got its second shot. I was a consistent Destiny player who played Warframe off and on when it came out, and I was willing to jump ship for the possibility of something better. After it flopped I didn't give it much thought. I quit Warframe for good some after that, and I haven't played Destiny in 2 years and don't plan on picking it back up either. A sci-fantasy looter-shooter with powered flight and cool iron man suits would scratch an itch for me no game has in a while.
I was so hyped when I first found out about Anthem when I was in college and loved playing it when it came out. Was a bit sad there wasn’t much content and got really excited about 2.0 then really sad when I found out it had been scrapped
I would also like to point out the comment of "all 12 of you" kind of made me feel special like you were talking to me personally so thank you for that
So I've been playing destiny sense dark below in d1 and played anthem on launch. If anthem had had better connectivity and more content then two dungeons and a reskin of the final mission it is the game I would have left destiny in a heart beat. It's mechanics are genuinely fun. I still boot up anthem every now and then just to fly around and play for a day.
Damn, ya had to go and break my heart with this? This game was so freaking good with so much potential. What a great world and experience. Seriously, just bring it back and do the content right this time around
Anthem had the best flying mechanics of any game I've ever played. I'm glad to see the DNA of those mechanics will be used in a future iron suit game. The things that killed Anthem for me were: - Load times. My god! - Weak story. - The CONSTANT hens in a pen radio chatter. It was mind-numbing. - Performance issues Anthem: A squandered greatness.
probably my favourite game i ever played but it couldn't last with the issues. and everyone stopped playing . i just started playing it again with my son and its absolutely amazing for now.
This game was really fun! The flying mechanics and compact was so good!! I still get on ans fly around from time to time....okay..I'm now going to replay this Game!
I've spent more than 600 hours playing this game. I managed to complete everything, but there was no further task to tackle at the end. It was then that I returned to Destiny.
The thing I hated most about anthem, was when they said they would be doing a big update a couple of months before they released it…the said it’s cancelled and they’re giving up on it permanently. Fucking sucked because I never stopped playing since release, I even play it now from time to time.
I loved this game so tragically much. I watched this all the way through...... then (at the end) was depressed again, much like the day 2.0 was canceled...thanks for the memories 😢
I honestly miss Anthem, the issues It had on release regarding loading screens and connection issues were rough as fuck. But after awhile and It actually became playable me and a couple friends had a fairly good time playing It, the main Issue we had at the end was content. We were just running the same raid over and over again ( If you played the game then you know which one I'm talking about ), It tilts me to no end that they just decided to pull the plug after announcing the re-release 2.0 thing.
Anthem was something I was really passionate about. It was a looter shooter after my heart. I still go back to play through it once in a while. Really sucks how when new gamers entered the scene they settled for gamble mechanics and fortnight skins. Anthem marked the end of an era. One that I'm so glad I got to be apart of
Eh, if you go back and read a lot of the stuff written about it's development, it was Bioware that botched it. EA had to get them to put flying back in the game, they were going to cut it out to save development time.
BioWare damned it, EA kept it alive, you can read it up on the Anthem Reddit. Over the years tons of ex devs started to share there expierence, but BioWare lied over and over to EA. I know does not sounds like EA but the articles actually exists.
I’ve never been and probably never will be hyped for a game like I was with Anthem. Sooo much potential….the gameplay is some of the best I’ve ever played in a game.
I remember the reason I bought this game when it came out was because of the flying. I just thought it looked cool. But when I played the game, I felt similar to the first time I ever played destiny. A whole new world for me to explore with my friends.Every day, I hope that we get some sort of news that we will be getting another anthem. It just has so much potential and it’s so sad to see what happened to it.
i remember being in HS getting the upgraded version of the game only for it to fail. truly a heart break. i’ve been coping since that this game would make a comeback
So glad somebody did a deep dive into this game from the destiny community. Although I never considered anthem a ‘destiny killer’ but rather the Battlefield-to-Destiny’s Call of Duty. A game of similar genre, but I felt it looked and played better. The tragedy is it was never given a chance. Thank you so much for doing this video. I have always loved your commentary.
Fuck man I’ve never played a game that felt so damn good to shoot and fly . Everything was perfect beside the content. If I were EA I’d use what they have and make another game . An Ironman like game would be amazing.
I used to order the premium deluxe editions of games just cause i liked the extras that they gave. I can honestly say that after Anthem i never spent the extra money for stuff and just played the base games. This one broke my heart with the amount of "what could be" inside of it that never came to light.
I really really liked the Anthem gameplay. My friends and I really got into the combo system with abilities and elements. We could layer our attacks on top of each other for great crowd control or massive damage. Too bad it was cut so short.

If they had given this game another 6/8 months of development and not rushed it out I will say a lot of destiny players would have taken a good break from destiny to play this
Man I loved everything about it , graphics flight control shooting and abilities. So much promise . Killed me to learn it was scrubbed and left for dead. I still log on time to time
Even after all these years, I still have hope that this game will make a return... Because even after the updates stopped, people kept playing. Almost every open game you enter has people inside. This game can make a come back and succeed. I hope it does one day
Bungie picked the game up and now working on it as Anthem Reloaded
@@Mistake152 I pray to God this is the truth
@@a-slyva2249 Not true.
It's owned by ea and bioware ...why would Bungie have anything to do with it ? Think about it he's trolling you @@a-slyva2249
@@Mistake152 that is false.. only thing about it was the vid that Aztecross made which is a fake TWAB. Bungie is not buying the Anthem IP.
Give cyberpunk developer this game and wait 2 years and you got the best game ever. Honestly I was in love with this game and played alot!!
I want to live in a world where Anthem worked. That game's traversal and combat were peak fun.
When I die and go to heaven, I hope I live in that world as well...I really wanted this game to succeed, so badly I did

i loved anthem and im to this day hoping it gets a 2nd chance with more time in development.
Evan, just wanted to express my gratitude to you because I love all of your videos. No notification on my phone ever gets me more excited than an upload from you. You truly have a natural gift for storytelling and I will always watch your videos regardless of the content you are covering. Even if these videos aren’t as popular as your destiny videos right now, they will be in the future. Keep doing what you are doing and it will take you farther than you can imagine.
this made my week stealth thank you
This was the most hype I ever was for a game. I wish 2.0 came out, and it would've kept getting support. It could've been amazing.
The flying and combat was so solid and so smooth
whenever i see these videos it makes me wanna go back and play it
I played anthem a few days ago. I really wish they were able to finish anthem 2.0 bc there is a lot to like about anthem and where it could go. Everything is there, it literally just needed more time in the oven
1:40 I would recommend to also cover Warframe, as it is the game that many of us picked up after we quit D2... There's a lot to talk about.
How do you have 1k on anthem. That game legitimately has no content
That's sad
Also the level of customization u could do on each jav appearance wise. I spent as much time in forge appearance side as I did playing game lol.😊
That just crazy how much time u put in that bare bone game i have like 70-100days (should check it) on ark which is my most played game and u got 1000h on anthem just mindblowing
I’m waiting for the new Star Wars Outlaws to come out. It looks so awesome.
This game breaks my heart so bad i loved everything about it, the suit customization the flying the abilities and more and yet EA :,(
EA was innocent. They always were idiot, it was all Bioware fault here n they became pussies for abandoning projects ever since n they'll do it again soon kiddo
Im kinda sad Evan didn't touched the customozatio.
my heart still broken until this day...its need some rich boy to buy and own the game and start fix it , but no one go that far to do this
As much as i love your destiny videos ive really enjoyed watching your evolution into a video game historian.. Im here for it my dude.. great work!
I still get on every now and then to relive the moment.. still sad. :(
I keep popping back from time to time and hope I see news of anthem 2.0 coming. I always get the same sad news
I remember pre-ordering this game
Never pre-ordered another game again after that
There really hasn't been anything as ambitious since then lol granblue fantasy relink doesn't feel as rich, don't think anything will
Same. Anthem was the last game I have ever pre-ordered.
Same.
Same..... what's worse... I built a liquid cooled (my first one ever) with the best of the best of the time.... nearly punched a wall.
Same. Last game I ever preordered.
Yeah I havent had a game that gave me as much fun as anthem in the last few years nothing can really hold me currently and loses me way to quickly
really sad that Anthem never got its second shot.
I still have my copy I really hope they come back and revisit this game man
Damn, ya had to go and break my heart with this? This game was so freaking good with so much potential. What a great world and experience. Seriously, just bring it back and do the content right this time around
Started playing this game again and man it's still so much fun. 😢
Anthem had the best flying mechanics of any game I've ever played. I'm glad to see the DNA of those mechanics will be used in a future iron suit game. The things that killed Anthem for me were:
- Load times. My god!
- Weak story.
- The CONSTANT hens in a pen radio chatter. It was mind-numbing.
- Performance issues
Anthem: A squandered greatness.
probably my favourite game i ever played but it couldn't last with the issues. and everyone stopped playing .
i just started playing it again with my son and its absolutely amazing for now.
I lived this game. I was devastated when I found out they canceled their plans to update it
This game was really fun! The flying mechanics and compact was so good!! I still get on ans fly around from time to time....okay..I'm now going to replay this Game!
Had such High Hopes for Anthem, it didnt get the love that it deserved
Anthem had so much potential, but EA kneecapped it before it had a chance to take a step in the right direction.
I've spent more than 600 hours playing this game. I managed to complete everything, but there was no further task to tackle at the end. It was then that I returned to Destiny.
I swear if they reworked Anthem I would buy it again, the gameplay felt fking AWESOME but there was nothing to do
Same
Game felt soooo good to play. Way to much potential and thrown away
Anyone else have their xbox's fried trying to play Anthem when it first came out?
👇🏻
I loved this game. I still fire it up from time to time. Such a shame.
The thing I hated most about anthem, was when they said they would be doing a big update a couple of months before they released it…the said it’s cancelled and they’re giving up on it permanently.
Fucking sucked because I never stopped playing since release, I even play it now from time to time.
Every once and a while I visit that subreddit, "you wanna see a dead body?" Kinda vibes when I see those posts.
hahah this made me ugly laugh😂
I loved this game so tragically much. I watched this all the way through...... then (at the end) was depressed again, much like the day 2.0 was canceled...thanks for the memories 😢
I wish this game would come back had so much freaking potential!
The music... flying... I loved it. 😢
I honestly miss Anthem, the issues It had on release regarding loading screens and connection issues were rough as fuck. But after awhile and It actually became playable me and a couple friends had a fairly good time playing It, the main Issue we had at the end was content. We were just running the same raid over and over again ( If you played the game then you know which one I'm talking about ), It tilts me to no end that they just decided to pull the plug after announcing the re-release 2.0 thing.
the devs seemed so fucking sad too, it was hard to watch
One of those times EA left money on the table because they refused to spend a few pennies to make hundreds of pounds.
Anthem was something I was really passionate about. It was a looter shooter after my heart. I still go back to play through it once in a while. Really sucks how when new gamers entered the scene they settled for gamble mechanics and fortnight skins. Anthem marked the end of an era. One that I'm so glad I got to be apart of
It's a travesty we never got the Anthem 2.0 the devs wanted to make.
Anthem Next could have saved life...
Was sooooo amped when this ocame out out . They dropped the ball on this big time . Had sooooo much potential .
Anthem had so much potential
This game had so much potential. I loved this game.
Anthem had such potential, EA damned it. It should have been continued to be worked on
Eh, if you go back and read a lot of the stuff written about it's development, it was Bioware that botched it.
I just really wish they gave it more time and love but anthem will always have place in my heart🙏🏾♥️
Evan recall how Yongyea started off and where he is now? I see you going that way sometime in the future brah. You got this
thank you, this was so nice
I still play the game and really enjoy it, I do hope one day they restart development for Anthem next
Fuck me, I completely forgot about this game
Anthem right now here in 2024, is better than the first descendant
the saddest thing is, destiny killed itself
How?
Right.... how
Destiny with The Final Shape is better than ever
Even at its lowest point destiny was never gonna die you sound dumb af
this aged like milk
I absolutely loved this game, and was super excited for 2.0 to come out.
you all forget, that warframe is the real master of lootershooters, not destiny
Effing right you are! Warframe uses Destiny 2 to mop floors with!
@@rxibot and its free to play since the very beginning.
I’ve never been and probably never will be hyped for a game like I was with Anthem. Sooo much potential….the gameplay is some of the best I’ve ever played in a game.
Can’t somebody just hack the game and make it a PVE game?😂🤷🏿♂️
It is PVE only
……
I really was hoping anthem got its 2.0
The game was so cool in concept and played really nice!!! I wish bio would revisit anthem for another shot
The core of it was incredible. Ill never understand how they just didnt add content. The flying and combat was so good
i remember being in HS getting the upgraded version of the game only for it to fail. truly a heart break. i’ve been coping since that this game would make a comeback
Still play it every couple of months. Great game except for the lack of content.
Such an incredible game.. had so much potential!
I have always loved your commentary.
evanf1997, I really enjoyed watching this, so I hit the like button!
Fuck man I’ve never played a game that felt so damn good to shoot and fly . Everything was perfect beside the content. If I were EA I’d use what they have and make another game . An Ironman like game would be amazing.
I would play Anthem right now if it released again.
I agree. Would love to see this revived with evolve. High tech and monster slaying.
I was so gassed for this game and to be fair I really enjoyed it for a couple of weeks.
Opening up a old wound with this. This game had such a good base, I wish it got the revamp it deserved.
Videos like these might be a turn off but I assure you there’s a fanbase for this game lol. That’s why the algorithm recommended you to me 🎉❤
I'm so hurt this game didn't get traction. I love this game and even re downloaded it to my PS5 to replay it after seeing this thumbnail. I vote for a re-try
