- Black Myth Wukong has been highly anticipated by the gaming community and we are starting to see previews land and the feed back is almost universally positive. The Game looks amazing but I can't help but wonder about some of the challenges this game is going to face.
Black Myth: Wukong is an upcoming action role-playing game developed and published by Game Science, based on the classical 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West. The game is scheduled to release for PlayStation 5 and Windows on August 20, 2024, with an Xbox Series X/S version currently in development.

Lies of P was a game that deserved so much more credit and recognition. I think Black Myth is coming out in a somewhat quiet enough time release schedule wise that it could float above water if it's at all good.

Wokong is gonna get the Stellar Blade treatment from many journalists, like IGN (unless others push hard against it, it won't stand a chance at the VGA awards), as it didn't bend the knee to DEI / ESG BS
The funny thing about Lies of P was it overshadowed Lords of the Fallen which, depsite it's launch issues, is a vastly superior game. Black Myth Wukong will be JUST FINE. The hype around this game is crazy. It will supass all expectations, even Lono's lol
The also turned down a 7 million dollar DEI contract. So big props to them.

It is unrealistic to expect Wukong to run at 60fps on consoles.

As a Vietnamese American, I grew up watching the 1986 journey to the west Vietnamese dubbed version with my grandparents in the 90s and love every part of it. Already paid for the game on my pS5 account, hope the founder continues to fight off these political correctness people and deliver us the stories we all looking for.

This is my GOTY contender. I am excited for this one. I am not concerned about performance as much in this game, regardless of the engine, because this studio has been open with gameplay. Also, it appears they actually tested and played their own game throughout the process.

Man people really want every game that releases to be labeled as a soulslike.
Definitely looking forward to this, looks like they've adopted the story super well. Fun fact Goku was based on this character. Also Lies of P was done a great disservice. These mobile devs have comeperformance recently and given us amazing games with amazing perfomance.

I have never played a dark souls game, i have played action rpg games such as all the Fable games, and Jedi fallen order. That can be close. That style i would argue was not started by dark souls series. There has been many great games that are third person and where you fight bosses. So for the critics to use that as a bad thing is just wrong. Its not a copy or imitation, its just a standard direction and practice to make games like that since the beginning. I do believe Wukong could be one the few games i will try in this genre since I like the themes and power fantasy, such as when i tried jedi fallen order.

I really hope it’s good. I do not like Souls type games or the way they do storytelling. BUT, Journey to the West has always been so cool to me that I’m going to get Black Myth Wukong. I hope it’s good, and that they innovate on the formula in a way that is unique and accessible
Bm:w seems more likely to be a pure action game instead souls like, it has crazy amounts of boss fight and very little map exploring

Haven't really played the majority of soulsborne games but have played Bloodborne and a little bit of Elden Ring and they are Absolutely Amazing!, I may consider this game down the line.

How did PureXBox get a preview when it's been delayed on the xbox?
I'm fairly confident someone at PureXbox owns a PC or a PS - fairly confident they played at an event too so it was a provided setup
It has staff PARRY actually, just need good timing
Why is every preview saying no block or parry?
@@ReforgeGaming Pure Xbox channel (who leaked the offline play review first) mentioned staff can only parry arrows and projectiles, which also made me believe there is no other parry system. Then I watched a few videos by some Chinese reviewers, some of them did mention they performed staff parry during their 2.5 hour game. I think because of the time limit, not everyone has the time try everything, they have to fight 8 to 11 bosses and test the game in 2.5 hours. PS: there is one Chinese reviewer, who is good at gaming, rushed all 11 bosses in just over 1 hour (he said he just used half of time limit)

GOTY is very open at the minute there's no standout game for me yet. It's got a chance along with Dragons Dogma 2, maybe Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Helldivers 2 and Rebirth

Developers say they got 2k 60fps on PS5, now they are working on getting 4K
There is a reddit where someone says it runs at 60 with few dips. However we have yet to see. Nevermind the devs did confirm 2k 60 like @DonneyLiu said.
Lies of P is the 3rd best souls/soulslike game ever only behind DS3 and Sekiro for me

You can tell when a studio is highly confident in their product when they don't upload trailers full of trickery and fake gameplay. I bet their review embargo won't be 24 hrs before release 😂.
Based on what I’ve seen from this game, combat seems to be the selling point. If performance lacks during combat, it will disappoint on many levels. This is where the UE5 previous issues with other games come into play. I’m hopeful.
I hope it rises above all the nonsense and does well.

I wish I could enjoy the souls genre but I simply don’t have the skill level or patience for the games. I remember hearing about having to backtrack after dying in the originals and I immediately said NOPE. No time for that especially after having just had kids at the time.

Leave the game itself aside, I think the two main challenges that BMWK would be facing for winning the GOTY could be for one, it is a Chinese game, for two it really has made IGN and SBI look bad recently.
Wukong is overrated ... Game Science focused on combat and graphic but they don't have the experience on map design and game flow. It may be boring once you've over-hyped by the boss fights.
I agree. Actually I am also not very impressed by the combat system based on the released footages so far, that's why I won't pre-order it, gonna wait and see how things turn out to be after it releases.
