@@rbkgaming2581Because stealth AC like is impossible in those games. And even if you did it would be boring. Now look at what he did in AC Mirage, that looked like art.
They should’ve used Hattori Hanzo instead of yasuke, he would’ve fit perfectly since in real life he was both a shinobi and a samurai, he’d be good doing both a stealth play and a direct combat play
@@ThePamphs simple, don’t have one, they don’t need a second main character to make a good AC game, they’ve done so in the past. If anything they could focus on fleshing out and making a more interesting story for the MC if it’s one. Or you could have both characters but change up the plot a bit like this. At first these two shinobi are trying to kill each other because they serve different lords naoe serves the Oda clan and Hanzo serves the Tokugawa clan. They stop trying to kill each other when they become knowledgeable about the creed of assassin’s and templars by naoe having the mission to meet and escort a Dutch Templar to meet with Nobunaga, and Hanzo having the mission to kill the Dutch Templar. They both cross paths they both fight, then they get interrupted by an assassin from the creed who kills the Dutch man. They interrogate the assassin and he explains everything to them, the Templars lust for world domination and control and their long war with them. They let the assassin go and agree to not kill each other and to keep in contact and monitor their lords. Naoe’s lord Oda Nobunaga’s love for western weapons and works makes naoe suspicious of him and make her worried that he could fall victim the Templars influence. Her fears are justified as she finds out while spying on her lord during a meeting he is having with a mysterious man that they are discussing whether the Templars will come and help Nobunaga finish conquering Japan. Nobunaga agrees and is made a member of the Templars on the spot. FINALLY someone speak about Liberation. Liberation is my favorite game if we speak about stealth. You speak about the persona system, it give so much freedom, so many opportunities. It completely change the gameplay. As the assasins, climb and kill. As the slave, pick up a box to pass checkpoint, then pick up a broom when the guard is coming then start a slave revolt to move the guards. As the lady, flirt with a guard to escort you around, bribe checkpoints. And all of them have indepdenant wanted levels. This is amazing. Liberation is the ultimate crowd blending assassins creed ever made, not a single game in the franchise have ever reached this high level of crowd blending.
They have introduced ghostwriter AI, which means they are going to use low-quality non-human writer to produce a large volume of poor-quality dialogue for mass production. Even the most advanced AIs today have toddler-like writing skills. What can we expect?
Doesn't necessarily mean you have to follow that Tenant to the teeth and word-for-word when you don't even have to. Different setting, culture, outfit, etc... give more ways than one interpretation to do "hide in plain sight". Naoe is basically invisible as she is among her people, she doesn't need to hide at all. Because she IS already hide in in plain sight.
@@thangngudxop Yeah good point, I bet when Naoe is eavesdropping she'll just stand there mouth gaping and drool dripping down her face and her target won't notice her at all since she is constantly hiding in plain sight. Sorry for the lame joke but your logic is kinda stupid when considering everything that social stealth is, blissful ignorance I'd call it.
@@gojea8200Just calling it for what it is. "Hide in plain sight" don't always have to involve doing what the series "always" do as "social stealth" and that's not one way to look at it either.
@@gojea8200Also, that's probably the most brilliant lame joke I've seen. Could find a way to work that into the game actually. You, as a player, can act as a beggar, or someone who's crazy, mad, drunk, or a retard whose mouth's drooling with blood or taking a piss right in front of your target face and they'd not even notice they're being eavesdrop/track. If only they did that kind of disguises for Naoe or a separate story related char who turn out to be a secret ally, and make that a twist too.
Ubisoft Quebec keeps making the mistake of doing something that seems cool and not thinking it all the way through. So much of what we see and hear can be explained by them thinking it's a cool idea and not considering how to do it right. No social stealth makes sense for Yasuke but they didn't then compensate by further fleshing out stealth as whole and social stealth for Naoe. Every single bad decision and subsequent controversy can be explained by them going "wouldn't it be cool if...?" and that's it, no further consideration.
social stealth never make sense at all... imagine as Ezio, a wanted person and you can walk freely with an assassin robe full of weapon. How can social stealth work? That's the most stupid thing I've ever seen.
@@Player-gv5lpac1 kinda made sense with the scholars but only when with them otherwise it was stupid, wouldn't the guards see a 6 foot man doing parkour with the extremely obvious assassin's robes? You could say the same about most games of the series: unrealistic, blind guards who can't see hooded armed persons. But, there was a game that handled it pretty well: ac: liberation. They had the persona system a system which allowed the player to dress like a slave or a noble woman and added quite a bit of realism to the stealth in the game. Unfortunately, Ubisoft has never replicated that since.
The stealth is not just supposed to be attacking camps at nights. Playing as Altair & Ezio showed us that the stealth can be at broad daylight with crowds existing. They just try to ruin everything good about their franchises
It’s funny they didn’t put any social stealth/disguise system in considering that’s probably what a real shinobi back then would have been doing mostly, spying
This is interesting, because ninjas actually did use disguises to blend in. It would be so perfect to implement Liberation’s system into this game but ah well.
I dunno if it is an unpopular opinion or not, but I kinda think Yasuke was initially intended to be an NPC/supporting historical character instead of a playable protagonist. But higher ups wanted the devs to have both a male and a combat-heavy character available.
I think it was diverse equality inclusion or whatever. Ubisoft would rather shit on Japanese history to cater to something no one ever asked for. Yasuke as a side character would have been awesome like Leonardo but as a protagonist which can have male lovers is kinda a kick in the pants to the Japanese and their history.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who appreciates liberation's persona system. It just feels like something that's essential to the hiding in plain sight tenent and I don't understand why it's not implemented more.
Im quite worried about the writing. The entirety of the writing in the demo is so cringey and in your face, like they're speaking directly towards the audience and saying what they hope we want to hear. hopefully its not like that in the full game.
Keep your expectations low. You don’t want to have yet another disappointment in the series. Don’t expect much and it will probably be an ok game in terms of story and writing.
From this quote "Naoe is invisible by default for NPCs in the open-world - Yasuke is impossible to blend in unoticed.” I read it as Naoe having permanent social stealth and is only noticeable when doing illegal stuff.
A bit disappointed but wasn't hit that hard since we didn't have good social stealth for a decade now, minus Mirages. Mirage is ok but wasn't that good in social stealth either. Non better than Unity and never other game like Unity will be made, never
@@Calypso694i had zero technical problems with Unity. got it on day one and it’s been in my top 3 ac games ever since. its even ranked my favorite sometimes. wish Ubisoft delayed and just went with Rogue for 2014, things could’ve gone really different
@@RadioNocturnusoh it’s not broken in terms of just gameplay although a lot of it does remain like that, namely the janky combat and uncomfortable to use parkour. It has arguably the worst writing, story, and side characters in the entire series to date. No amount of patches will fix bad writing
SO i feel like Yasuke is going to be more of an RPG character, and Naoe is more of an assassin character for obvious reasons. I THINK the idea around it is to please both types of fans. I also feel like the lack of social stealth makes sense IF they focus on using shadows. I don't know if they will have a light mechanic like splinter cell but that seems like the best route to make the gameplay feel similar to these older games. While Yasuke is more of the power fantasy character. You pick stealth or strength. And since stealth seems like less of a priority in the RPG games, they wanted a character that felt like both playstyles Take that opinion with a grain of salt. I haven't actually played any game newer than blackflag yet, I am an old fan that dropped the series and am just now catching up. I am playing rouge for the first time now :) I just wanted to say that lol
With the involvement of Sweet Baby Inc and the overblown inclusion with Yasuke. I think I might be done with the franchise, I am sorry for it was a good series but it has been getting worse since Origins; everything before Origins was a true Assassin’s Creed game but some things were enjoyable about the games until now. But this game feels like a slap in the face followed by a kick in the ass out the door.
@astronotics531 I think you're missing the point. While there is no clear proof that SBI is directly involved or not, we all know what's happening here. This scream of DEI, loud and clear. The point is, overall, these AC games are going downhill since origins.
No interest in playing as Yasuke. The bruiser/brawler archetype seems crowbarred into AC. And afaik this is the first time they actually have a real historical figure as a protagonist. I think that's a terrible decision. So far in the franchise we always encountered and interacted with historical figures which made for a fun, historical fiction kind of dynamic. But I really do not like the idea of actually playing as those historical figures. Also weird that out of all of Japan's history of historical figures the one they choose to change their entire historical fiction dynamic for in the AC game finally set in Japan... isn't even Japanese. Which seems pretty disrespectful to Japan.
The worst part about this is that social stealth in this setting would be so EASY. There are countless ways they could easily incorporate it into the game. Standing at a shop window, or by a sale cart. Even just walking in the crowd with 3 people in your immediate vicinity.
Naoe is a woman with a visable sword on her back, which at the time was not socially acceptable. For that reason, social stealth would not make any sense.
And edward is always wearing a pirate outfit which is illegal and should send every guard onto him at any time. Same thing for basically any assassin wearing a very fancy outfit compared to the npc around them, as well as a very suspicious hood that again shoumd send every guard onto them at any time. The only 2 for which it is more believable are altair as his outfit is made to blend with monks, and arno because of the constant chaos of the revolution. But sure, this thing that has always been a staple of the ac games despite logically not making any sense at all only makes no sense now
Exactly. I don't understand why some people think that social stealth could fit every setting and time period. In my opinion parkour is a core mechanic of the series, one you can't do a game without; social stealth isn't.
@@docomega7862 I am not talking about outfits. I’m talking about a woman wearing a weapon in a time when not only a woman but a “non-noble” wearing a weapon was against the law.
@@neutralbychoice3584 and being a pirate was not against the law perhaps? Yet edward can do social stealth perfectly fine. Also casually walking around while wearing enough weapols to take on an army and conceiling your identity with a hood, despite maybe not being illegal shoumd be suspicious enough to get into questioning by any guard on sight. Purely arguing from real life logic and laws, social stealth never made any shred of sense. So why start acting now like it is an issue because it's not realistic
Crowd blending is not really necessary if mechanically they're no different from bushes or this time, shadows. It wasn't the Scholars that made social stealth work. Altair could blend on his own to avoid suspicion. In fact, Blending in the game functioned like Crouching but more OP because you don't even have to be out of sight. The only benefit of the Scholars was getting into restricted areas. What made social stealth was the reactions of civilian NPCs rather than the guards' AI being hostile / not hostile. The crowds, according to your actions, can either be a strength, or a curse (running away, screaming, attacking you, adding chaos and bringing attention to you). And thus, if you're mindful of your surroundings, you can operate without being seen, even if you can't mechanically hide in crowds. I think it adds to the "In Plain Sight" bit even more if you can't hide among people like you would in a haystack and could only control your detection with socially-acceptable actions. I can totally see social stealth working in Shadows if Naoe walks around without a hood, similarly to how it worked in Syndicate. Then she looks like a regular peasant woman and can probably get in certain areas that are normally restricted. And even more opportunities with Yasuke. He is a samurai with authority that holds public respect and commanding presence. It's like saying a person wearing a police uniform can't do social stealth... There's so much room for social stealth with him, where he could get certain information by asking the guards directly or using legal threat, or get into restricted areas because of his status, etc. Social status and privilege kind of imply better social stealth opportunities especially if you notice how everyone was bowing to him during the demo. It's not really about hiding, it's about doing stuff in public and nobody questioning you for it. But even if there's none, this is a game that sells the fantasy of being a Ninja. Ninja use shadows, not crowds. Doesn't seem like those villages are crowd-heavy either. So I can totally understand if they wanted to focus more on Traditional stealth. The more focused the experience is, the better the chance of mechanics working well. But it would also be cool if they decided to go back to basics and make social stealth work like it did in AC1, with different levels of suspicion based on behavior. Social stealth was technically present in Valhalla, and it served absolutely no purpose. I'd rather it not be in the game than be for show only. Let's also remember that Shadows was supposed to be an RPG. A game made for Odyssey fans, after we got Mirage. We kinda knew what to expect, but it seems like everyone was so impressed with the demo that now they recognize it as "the game for old fans" too and expect it to be more like Mirage than Odyssey when before the demo there was absolutely no hint of it happening. Let's not get greedy. I think it's not that good if Shadows decided to throw RPG fans under the bus either, despite promising a next-gen RPG experience. But so far this game doesn't look anything like an RPG but more like a refined stealth-action, which is not a bad thing for me.
Agree with your whole point regarding Naoe way of "social stealth". Why do ppl keep bringing the Creed's Tenet about "Hiding in plain sight" for their validation of having social stealth is a must, when it seems like they don't even fully understand what "Hiding in Plain Sight" mean.
@@thangngudxop the word "hiding" confused people that they forget about "in plain sight" part. Maybe it's just me, but if you're hiding in a crowd of people, you're not in plain sight anymore. To avoid confusion I prefer "operate discreetly in plain sight". If you simply stand there out in the open and they can see you, but they don't see you as a threat because you're not doing anything wrong, then it's truly hiding in plain sight. Having blending spots is nice, but when the game requires you to be in one all the time to avoid suspicion, then it's not really social stealth because it's no different from going from cover-to-cover / bush-to-bush. A better social stealth system gives opportunity to either wear disguises if your normal appearance can't give you access to a forbidden area or to use other NPCs to let you in, like what Liberation had with charming mechanics.
@@bloodymaresI'm thinking of more disguise such as a shameless pathetic beggar, or a lunatic/retard whose mouth is drooling, playing around like a disable child, pissing right in front of the targets face and they wouldn't even know they're being tailed/targeted. But yeah, i don't think devs would go that far for a main char but i think it'd still work.
I think Yasuke really will be for those who like the Valhalla/Orgins/Odyssey fans that choose to play them as an RPG more than an AC game. I have a friend who loves the RPG AC cuz the RPG and combat stuff. He doesn’t really care about assasins or the “lore” and gameplay of an assasins. IMO he will be the type to love Yasuke
OK but weren't yall the ones that were saying that Jacob and Evie were they same so what happened now that the 2 characters have completely different playstyle?
It's dumb move from the start. They should've pushed for hard RPG mechanics and let you create either a more bulky assassin or a more stealthy one. A but like in GoT you can straight line the gsme going full samurai or full Ghost. This 2 character thing is dumb. Assassins are by definition stealth characters with decent light fighting skills...
Just focus on one character, having two characters is stupid and will make the gameplay suffer in the end! Since most people like to have a balance of both stealth and combat!
10:05 I agree with you, but this is very “on brand” for Ubisoft. Because they make so many games so often, they have a terrible habit of removing things that don’t work instead of trying to fix and reimplement them. It’s the same reason parkour has gotten more automated - it’s easier to water it down than to make it work for everyone. It’s more efficient from a business POV, but sucks for players that would’ve liked to see an imperfect system improved.
Three words: Sweet Baby Inc. Not buying a game they are involved in, a game where they put in a hip hop track during his fight when hes from Africa and not America. It was cringy af.
you are brainwashed, you poor baby boy, maybe stay off social media rage/clout bait vids like "GAME WOKE" "SWEET BABY INC STRIKES AGAIN" and you'll start to feel stupid once you realize that your entire opinion on something was based on someone else's. tho it might be too late for you.
Social stealth isn't even only a main trait for the assassins, it was one of the biggest traits of shinobi too, they were experts in avoidance, non-detection and misdirection, espionage, assassination, information gathering, disguise, concealment, and escape
If there isnt going to be a notoriety system like mirage or the older games, I hope there will be something like the Phylakes from origins. Some level if threat to keep you aware if your surroundings but not be outright hunted.
For Yasuke, a heavy combat char, if they wanted to make him more "useful", instead of only infiltration missions inside Castles like Naoe where he does it more directly and louder, basically a one man-army. There should be missions only for him, like going to warfront on the battlefield and such.
I'm honestly fine with stuff like crowd blending not being a mechanic in the game. As the devs described it, Naoe isn't distinguishable from the crowds in Japan. So apparently its normal to see civilians with swords, I guess. Others will just assume you're a samurai, even though you're not. But at first glance, you are. I guess we're in a different culture anyway, so I can see why it's not a feature. We are getting a little too comfortable using the mechanic in stealth, not gonna lie. But anyway, yes, Naoe isn't distinguishable from the crowd, only thing is: As long as you don't cause a scene or do anything to alarm the enemy NPCs, I think you should be fine. However in the heat of the moment, I would imagine you can just throw a smoke bomb to disappear and lose the enemy NPCs quickly. I do hope disguises will still be a feature tho. Cus female shinobis have been known to put on disguises in order to infiltrate certain places, like pretending to be a geisha for example. So we shall see, maybe not all aspects of social stealth is gone.
Bro you dont belong here man keep the rubbish opinion to yourself. "We are getting a little too comfortable using the mechanic in stealth, not gonna lie." this is the dumbest comment i've ever seen, its like saying a chef should not use fire to cook because they got too comfortable with it?wtf? How else would you cook? Assassin not being stealth but shout at people that they want to kill and fight face to face with honour. Sure mate. its normal sto see civilians with swords? you don't even understand a single thing about japan. They are called katana, odachi, nodachi and more depending on their length and its nothing like a western swords or knifes. Depending on the year and no its not normal to see civilians with katana as the resources to procure and make them are scarce back in the day. Unless you come froms a very powerful family or clans you don't have the luxury to own one. Ghost of Tsushima has more assassin character and adopted the stealth more than this ubi trash creation. Ronin armour are introduced and all the stealth like skills make more sense than this trash. They think calling it shadow would hide the fact that an assassin who is a black man would go around shouting at people that he wants to assassinate with honor wearing heavy samurai armour with base ball bat. Japanese people who knows the history find this very insulting as its nothing like that at all, there are so many more honourable figure than Yasuke in the history of Japan man. They are using Yasuke because its easier to relate since anime and many other games has used Yasuke in the past and he is closer to western culture, well compared to an asian men anyway, they can't use white people because it won't make sense, so yeah to save money, save time they just simple throw a yasuke here once again. This is a f***ing joke! Based on your comment i can conclude and confirm that this is very true as the ubisoft team that are currently working on this game did not do any or adequate research on japanese history. By using Yasuke as the MC confirms that it is indeed trying to attract igorance players like you who knows nothing and don't even care about what the actual facts were as long as it somehow can be relate by you. If they have just use a white people as the protaganist, i am sure it does not matter what the mechanics or looks were you won't even care or question it. Lets be real, graphics and mechanis aside, the franchise get worse every time a new game was released. Each game are diverting away from the assassin theme, because instead of creating a brand new game with new names, which means more budget and money spent on marketing. They just keep using the exact same asset they've have and building a game within that AC franchise. From AC Orign to AC Odessy and to Mirage, if you look carefully, the buildings look exactly the same with slightly different layout change with some new environment asset changes and specific buildings, but the rest of them are the same.
It’s hard to look past it, my only hope is that they listen to the community like Bordeaux but thats highly unlikely since Quebec is a way bigger studio. Disappointed but it’s not gonna stop me from enjoying the new mechanics, still looking forward to playing this game.
While I do appreciate that Yasuke is build to play combat on occasion as stealth doesn’t always satisfy me, it would be so much better if they gave him a basic functional stealth but it sounds like he can’t even stealth properly bruh. love the Liberation mention of its system
Why are you assuming most people are gonna use naoe maybe some people like direct combat and get bored with stealth I am gonna use both equally and get the best of both worlds
I think that crowd blending may not be in Shadows because as you stated earlier Yasuke stands out and as we’ve seen in the gameplay people recognize him and bow to him so that could be a reason but for Naoe it’s different as she is smaller and stands out less but a reason she may not blend is because in that period the shinobi were feared I believe so it would make sense that she may freak some people out. But a way the developers could work around those is a system to ask people to act normal which would go well with quite a few ac games
There’s a lot more to it than just stealth.. Yasuke is a historical character, I think it’s cool. It’s like the best of both worlds. You do get to choose who you want to play as. I’m ready for the game!
This video made me realize I thought Shadows was going to have mechanics from Mirage, which I now realize was never a smart thought to have. Shadows was deep in development when Mirage was made and almost done, when Mirage was released.
Enemy Armor will be a big part in shadows Combat and that will be the thing where naoe struggles in Open Combat. A tank Samurai will quickly Turn into a damagesponge for her and jasuke can Just crush the Armor
I think yasuke caters to newer players or to those that prefer a more combat efficient player rather than stealth, all in all its smart to draw in more players while still giving a great stealth character to those that love the older games
He seems like a basic combat character cuz he probably was added into the game whenever sweetbaby got in touch with this game, this game was firstly advertised with Naoe’s shadow
I also really hope they show how Naoe is a glass cannon. And yes, I get it, the way they showed her fighting with the Kusarigama at the end hasn't suggested that she is. Even from the exclusive gameplay footage that some content creators got. I just really hope she is a glass cannon, therefore providing the need to us to play as Yasuke. I really want his gameplay to work. So we'll really gonna have to wait and see
Yeah it would be dumb if they made her good at combat on easy difficulty it should be hard no matter what and never change because that's what Yasuke is meant for and if she can do it as well it will create the same problem as syndicate except worse as the other character has less going for them which you would think they would get at this point since that is the selling point this time that they learned and fixed it.
Bro fuck yasuke.. Im maining naoe all the way. I wanna play as an assassin in a Assassin's Creed game, if i wanted to hack and slash i'd play some bullshit like elden ring
I mean she has way more tools than he looks to have. So as far as I'm concerned you should never even have to get into full on combat playing as her. If you take the actual assassin approach then you shouldn't even be seen at all
@@darknesswave100 That is not the point. Just because a player chooses to not prolong in combat, doesn't mean the game designed Naoe's gameplay that way. So it has to punish the player playing Naoe if they choose to prolong in combat. What you're describing is choice, not design.
Yea now that I think about Noaa is gonna be the only character people will be playing as and once they level and learn how to fight well then no one will play as Yasuke a lot
Sad thing that AC Shadows was probably developed at the same time as Mirage, and maybe Mirage was even later than Shadows. So whatever Mirage team did, it's not guarantee to be implemented in Shadows, considering they're only a 1 year release.
We forget that Mirage was originally a Valhalla DLC originally, but they wanted to make a bigger buck and inflated the price as a new game. They stretched all the "features" of it and we got a glorified DLC
Idk why Valhalla seemed like a step back, like the visuals, facial animations, cloth physics etc. I liked the story, but again it was too long for its own good and also the sidequests were so bad and repetitive. And hopefully this game will have mocapped facial animations or atleast human expressions unlike Valhalla.
@@ronlionheart1646 I think they were forced to work with an impossible goal: the higher ups wanted Valhalla to continue as an online service like GTA 5. they crammed a lot of content into the game, resulting in poor quality. It's clear that the worse the game is, the fewer people will play it for long
I think the thing that is gonna get people the play Yasuke is the day night cycle. Devs said that missions can be tackled at any time of the day so going during the day probably makes stealth harder but at night stealth would be the easier approach since you have more tools.
In AC Shadows Naoe would make better use of stealth as a Oiran/Courtesan. In terms of why Yasuke can't use social stealth because he probably doesn't know how and needs to grow into it. It would be cool if Yasuke could use ship combat that would be something that makes him unique from Naoe as people love black flag and this will work for Yasuke. Also battlefield quests like Odyssey with armies would be amazing for Yasuke as Naoe could never take part in such open combat of armies.
@@65firered it does, he hasn't learnt it... Yasuke basically became an Assassin in the middle or so of the game. It never made sense why Edward was able to use stealth to the level of Connor who trained for years. Yasuke learnt to be a Samurai and has to build on that so he can be an Assassin even then in AC there are Assassins who were brute class like Bartholomeo in AC Brotherhood and his sword Bianca. It's not a requirement as long as you don't comprise the Creed you don't have to have stealth. It is hypocritical though for us as AC fans to say hidden in plane sight when games after AC1 have character with the Creed logo on their clothes, same with Templars that have logo on the clothing it's stupid. I would believe Yasuke OR Naoe weren't Assassins more so than Ezio who is so flamboyantly dressed he looks like a peacock but I shrug it off as rule of cool so it doesn't matter... Social stealth in Liberation/Unity (Clothing change) was the best not crowd blending unless you are dressed like a monk or priest like figure in a religious are like AC1 or look like an average civilian.
Social stealth is what set this game apart from other stealth titles. I hope they at least replace it with comparable mechanics to help it stand apart.
I think a lot of people will play especially as Yasuke. And those people are everybody who likes the RPG/Mercenary/Viking style of games where you go in like a one-man army. I think the new fanbase will play it like that since Origins. And that the older and original AC fans and the ones who prefer stealth over fighting will play as Naoe. Doesn't surprise me as Ubisoft shows us data over a month or 4 after release and then shows that 40% to 60% have played as Yasuke. When I see some streams of certain RUclipsrs I believe that because of their playing style Yasuke is a better fit for them. But we will see.
That would be crazy if it is the case…would it because Naoe can’t be male? Like I am sure if Ubisoft made Naoe both gender like Valhalla then the ratio could be 50%. Well we will see anyway…
@@BananaBlooD9517 Well Ubisoft itself said "women can't sell". This is why we had Alexios for Kassandra and both Eivor gender. This is why the male are featured in the cover art and all promotion stuffs. When they admitted the ladies were canon. Meanwhile for Shadows they could not make Naoe the only protagonist playable? Why? (Tom raider is the only playable girl in her game right? And it is huge). So go make them see their own hypocrisy.
The persona system would have also fit Noai because Shinobi were known for hiding in plain sight via disguises in a process known as Yonin (sneaking in overtly), the opposite of Inin (sneaking in covertly) where anything from different outfits, makeup to seem older, using cotton to pad the face and seem chubby, etc. and all are listed under the six essential disguises of the Shinobi in the Bansen Shukai, as well as the various disguised weapons they had as well. So not only would it have fit from a gameplay and thematic standpoint, but it would have also been totally historically accurate as well. Gaijin Goomba’s channel goes into this way in depth as well.
Social stealth is not a thing because Yasuke couldn't do it, he towers over the other NPC's. It would be just another thing that Naoe could do and he couldn't. That's why it's not a thing.
Yasuke was made for the 1 dimensional side of the fanbase, but they misjudged that side by choosing the character they did and not expecting backlash from that sort.
Yasuke's point is to just enjoy the combat playstytle. Not everyone prefers stealth, and if the combat is fun and challenging, that is reason enough to make a character just for that. I would love a mission or two when you actually have to switch between them mid-mission: You start by creating a diversion with the samurai, having to mow down a few people, then you switch to the shinobi and infiltrate the upper castle. Then back to the samurai and so on. Could be fun
Not gonna lie master assassin is 100% right I think most of us just wanna feel like an assassin like the old games, black flag was the best in my opinion so most of us are going to pick Naoe also, she’s got a hidden blade, so yeah I’m gonna pick her most of the time love the contact by the way

Also Edward rejected the assassin's until after the game and into the books by the end he was a ally of the assassin's (like yaskue) and in the books you find out he took the pledge and was brought into the creed so all of black flag we don't play as a assassin we play as a pirate who stole the robes off of a dead assassin.
Number one I never said origins was trash. I said every game after origins odyssey was shit Valhalla was shit origins was understandable Because of the story, so I never said origins was bad origins is actually one of my other favorites and also whenever I say black flag is the best I’m not talking about being an assassin. I’m talking about the story. It had a very good story and I’m not saying that it’s the best assassin‘s creed game because I was saying in my opinion it’s the best because of the story and the Kenway line from Haitham and Connor other than that I can agree with your opinion and the other dude that commented before assassins Creed two, and brotherhood were probably the best in the series, but I will say those were the best in that category because you were an assassin. Black flag is better to me because it has a better story more open but I understand What you’re trying to say, everyone has their opinion we just have to voice them at the end of the day. We’re all going to have disagreements, and I’m not going to sit here and tell you what you can, and cannot like
Mainly agree, social stealth should be a thing, especially since it seems to have a lot of crowds like shown in the trailer. I could already imagine Naoe being able to sneak through those crowds and get directly to the samurai target at the end. It's a shame.
I think we're making a lot of assumptions and we should see gameplay of Naoe walking around and seeing what that actually looks like before making assumptions lol.
I think having Yasuke be able to be in the open makes sense as samurai are commonplace. in the trailers NPC’s even bow so it works while Naoe as an assassin is much more reserved to hiding. This would give a reason to play as Yasuke as it becomes easier to move around in open places whereas Naoe works best in enclosed or heavily urban areas. Also, maybe Yasuke could have a bonus feature that allows him access into restricted areas without stealth because of his samurai background, meaning he can walk right into enemy lines and take out the target that way…
I think a lack of social stealth makes sense of Yasuke. It would be very hard for a 6'2" tall African man to blend in at Feudal Japan. It would be really cool for Naoe. I'm wondering how else you could add variance to Yasuke as a character with these types of limitations. I know it's a different type of game by a lot, but I think Blades of the Shogun did the asymmetry between Samurai and Shinobi really well. Like the Samurai wasn't as great at sneaking, but at the same time, the Shinobi couldn't easily stealth kill larger enemy Samurai. They had to weaken them by shooting them or staggering them before they could attack them. Similarly to what we've already seen with Naoe in some of the gameplay. It'd be cool to see Yasuke be able to stealth those brutes that Naoe couldn't instantly take down albeit louder than Naoe. Yasuke's clearly very strong, so maybe they could implement some strength limited stealth options. Maybe routes that are limited by sturdy obstacles that only Yasuke could move, or using the environment, like throwing things from a height onto unsuspecting enemies. We've seen a knock out option in the gameplay, so if they fully committed to the non-lethal and lethal takedowns for enemies, you could also make Yasuke better at non-lethal takedowns despite being overall worse at stealth. Being able to non-lethally take someone down is much more difficult than lethally taking someone out if you're physically weaker than your opponent. Maybe Naoe is super effective at ghosting or lethal kills, but for non-lethal stealth, she's limited against most enemies (maybe to something like sleep darts like from Origins). You could instead employ Yasuke who, whilst louder and more sluggish in stealth, can freely perform non-lethal takedowns not limited to a resource. If your kills effected the outcomes of some missions that might seriously make some people want to stealth with Yasuke if the avoid enemies playstyle doesn't appeal to them. Plus it sounds kinda like it could spice stealth up to sneak up to people and choke them out or just smack their head against the wall. I don't know, I'm just spitballing, but that could add some additional variety to it.
It's better to not expect anything to be honest. No gameplay trailer, no story trailer, no extended-of-anything trailer, no char trailer. It's why I can play most of my games in peaceful mindset and without the prejudice to ruin the whole experience for me.
Honestly it kinda makes sense for Yasuke to not be able to do stealth and for no social stealth to be in the game. It might be ideal for an AC game but it would conflict with the characters as a whole. If Yasuke could do good stealth, people would just complain that's it's too similar to Naoe and we'll have the Syndicate argument that they're the same and are not different. Also, Naoe might be an assassin but she's a freaking ninja. Ninjas don't hide among people, they hide in the shadows which what what Naoe specializes in. I harldy think Naoe will mostly travel on groud for her to do social stealth. Besides, the tenets havent been set in stone for a while, so what they meant back in AC1 is probably different from now in the game.
@@65firered tbh. I never used social stealth in any AC Game, I just suck at it. BUUUT! BIG BUFF BLACK MAN DESTROYS LITTLE WEAK WHITE MAN! IM UP FOR THAT! IT'S LIKE EIVOR ON FUCKING STEROIDS!

I think that the liberations social stealth could be what they are hiding right now cause Naoe (in her assassin form) is still a woman with a sword and other weapons which is pretty weird to the time period of shadows so if she can change her appearance to idk maid or something it would be easier for her to blend in.
I still dont care if theres a black samurai because hes a historical figure named Yasuke a samurai retainer I dont care about how bad/good the storyline is or the combat Its still a good game for players (some) Hate it Or Love it its still a AC Game set in Japan titled AC Shadows some players still need this game to release like me if u hate it then dont play it if u love it then play it. Its that easy
I agree Social Stealth is kinda crucial to games like these. How hard would it had been in the older games? If there was no crowds nor benches to just slip in? They would be fairly more tedious to play at least.
I love how hated Syndicate was for the fact that Jacob and Evie played so similarly (among other things), so there was no point in switching between them, but now that they have a two protagonists that play completely differently, they keep going "omg why can't I play more stealthy with the obviously armoured-to-teeth brute character"
Thats because the high emphasis combat in these recent games is never what Assassins Creed is suppose to be what sets it apart is the appeal to stealth Combat is only used as a last resort or when you botched up an assassination attempt - thats the whole point - combat was never the focus, its being stealthy why is it so hard to understand that with this game?
@@Cruddy129 and why is it so hard for y’all to accept the series has changed and combat is here to stay? Let’s not forget people complained loudly that the games were repetitive, so they finally switched it up, and yet yall still complain. Hell right now there literally giving us both ! Yet people still freakin complain.
@@chicken1456A bunch of people with no understanding of the franchise/games complained about aspects of the og AC games, leading to a breaking of formula that appealed to new, fleeting fans who don't give a damn about AC and what it originally stood for, while ultimately alienating the actual fans of AC, leading to more and more restrictive gameplay in games that ironically became more "repetitive" than the first games they complained about
I think the choice between Yasuke and Naoe is the choice between the more action based gameplay of Valhalla (which was cool, raiding as a viking and fighting everyone was fun for me at least) and the more traditional stealth based gameplay of AC. Just a way of pleasing both types of players. If you want to be an assassin, you can. If you want to be a swordfighting badass, you can.
social stealth didn't make much sense to begin with, just some random dude in robes armed to the teeth just casually chilling with regular people was somehow invisible.
They should give Naoe servant & guard disguises if they won't create social stealth. And when it's dark she can use the shadows like splinter cell. That would be a good workaround.
Hot take: social stealth didn't really matter that much, moving slowly with a crowd is way too boring, being on the move while climbing and being agile is way more fun
It worked in the older games but it's awful in the newer ones. I suspect as a result that it's the engine that's the problem. They feel a bit floaty which is fine when running around but not for walking. I also think with Valhalla that it was just so poorly implemented. Being attacked nearly on sight is pointless. It's just regular stealth but worse. I don't mind it being in but the walking would need to feel weighted and the social stealth should be social as in just act normally but start doing mad stuff and drawing attention then that's when it kicks off but that's not what they've done since probably Unity maybe so with that in mind I'm actually glad it's not in because they can't do it right but IF they could then it would be cool
Naoe is the best stealth character, no doubt about it. But I think that the motivation to play Yasuke is more just by-the-person, the fantasy to play an honorable samurai with a noble goal who is a COMPLETE badass, shoulderbashing castle gates down and systematically working his way through an entire castle with just a sword, a gun and his armor. Naoe is genuinely just, for stealth, sure you could go into open combat with her but as we've seen it takes a really long time to kill anyone and Naoe is still a glass canon even compared to that amount of damage, she has very little health. I doubt Yasuke will have much motivation to play if you play stealthily but I also doubt Naoe will be able to keep up with his open combat strength in the latter half of the story.
“the parkour will be super limited with him” to be fair, the parkour is already super limited with the actual assassin character anyway, so will it really make a difference?
that only applies when the game itself is good but just not polished. Unity at launch was a buggy mess but the game itself is a masterpiece especially when it comes to free style parkour. Meanwhile Syndicate and Odyssey are hardly mentioned because they became average product with little to no distinct features
@NiceGuy69-b2y Then their tastes are not aligned with the assassin fantasy that the originals offered. This includes actual good parkour and stealth mechanics. Origins parkour was.. rudimentary. Its a decent game, just not a decent assassins creed game. That's the issue. That's why unity after all the patches is one of the most enjoyable AC experiences. On a side note, The reason I didn't enjoy Mirage was because It doesn't beat 2024 unity. Its a damn shame. That being said, origins has even less parkour/stealth than Mirage. Imagine my shock when I see Origins not being praised nearly as much. Its been few years, doesn't look like a masterpiece to me.
@NiceGuy69-b2y I should have elaborated on 2024 unity. What I mean by that is that you have to play the game with the mods, acu fixes and the cloth physics fix. In gameplay and movement, this makes unity the superior game imo. The movement is much more acurate than vanilla and stealth is wildly good. Combat is also discouraged because its dog shit just like mirage. Speaking of mirage, parkour is not that great. I had to mod it with better back ejects just to stomach it. The parkour feels lame, both in animation and execution. Stealth gameplay is better than the other rpg creeds. I still prefer modded unity for its fluidity and flashyness. I will admit that my favorite world has to be egypt despite its lack of parkour. The stealth tools in origins are pretty bad and leave a lot to be desired. This makes it an inferior game when it comes to gameplay, but by god the location is pretty as hell. I was genuinly puzzled on how the rpg games just got much worse over time. The story was alright I guess.
I will only play as nao because that's the ac japan ninja fantasy. Nao is Japanese she fits the setting in an ac game set in Japan you want to play as a ninja 🥷 what did ubisoft.
I can't see myself playing as Brute Force Samurai in AC game, when I have the option to be an actual assassin. Valhalla forced me to play as Brute and I Hate that game. 3:03
I can see a reason to use stealth as Yasuke - you can limit enemy numbers before they'll have a chance to rally and attack you. You enter an area with 10 enemies, quickly kill 3 or 4 of them and then you begin an open fight with the remaining 6.
Personally, I completely understand a slight disappointment in the lack of social stealth, but only a slight bit, I think it would get outweighed by all the new stealth features we get. Also complaints about Yasuke only being a combat focused character and not being able to use stealth very well, I understand that stealth is important but they made Yasuke to spice things up for players who want the brutality and run in oonga boonga smash really enjoying the game. I think once you unlock more of his skills he'll probably get a lot more powerful in combat.
I think the social stealth and all the things you mentioned here about the older games is what makes playing Assassin's Creed such fun. There felt like more genuine variety to playing missions in the older games and a bit more of a puzzle element to them. Unity and Syndicate had their faults but the blackbox style mission for the main targets were really good. I'd love Assassins Creed to have a bit more of a large open world version of Hit Man style game play but in a historic setting.
I’m a big stealth guy but Yasuke seems like a character you can just have fun with because he’s obviously going to have the most strongest abilities when it comes to combat and I definitely want to play both of them equally see what both of these characters are like at their full potential. And I think you’re wrong about people not playing him it’s a Japan samurai game people are going to want to play as a respected samurai and I don’t think that’s going to get old. And again, this is an RPG game have any not heard that they are focusing on RPG, and then there’s obviously the team that made Mirage which focuses on social stealth.
Everytime Ubisoft Qubac gets a chance to make an AC they never fail to disappoint us. I'm now only looking forward to see what the Ubisoft Bordeaux has for us no matter what other says but mirage was W.
Social stealth didn’t even make sense in the games. I’m happy it’s gone. Random civilians without weapons, walking into a prison with an assassin, wielding a sword. It was unrealistic and I didn’t use it unless I had to.
I wouldn't worry too much about Yasuke's gameplay limitations. The recent RPGs have proven that a focus on combat and limited stealth is enough for a large part of the audience. But thank God Naoe is there for those who want to feel vaguely like they're playing an Assassin's Creed game.

Naoe in shock escapes the castle and goes to Tokugawa territory to find Hanzo and relay to him the news, she finds him and they plan to find that assassin they spared and let them know and ask for their help in taking down Nobunaga. Thats all I got rn

Liberation is my favorite game if we speak about stealth.
You speak about the persona system, it give so much freedom, so many opportunities. It completely change the gameplay.

Doesn't necessarily mean you have to follow that Tenant to the teeth and word-for-word when you don't even have to.

This ain't historical accurate.
Thanks for not mentioning his skin dawg I appreciate it
I think it was diverse equality inclusion or whatever. Ubisoft would rather shit on Japanese history to cater to something no one ever asked for. Yasuke as a side character would have been awesome like Leonardo but as a protagonist which can have male lovers is kinda a kick in the pants to the Japanese and their history.
Yeah and his animations seem less smoother than naoe, as if he was made later in development
i can see that, they really don't like female main characters being the lead for some reason
I feel like the devs just liked Naoe better and didn’t spend as much time on Yasuke.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who appreciates liberation's persona system. It just feels like something that's essential to the hiding in plain sight tenent and I don't understand why it's not implemented more.

With the involvement of Sweet Baby Inc and the overblown inclusion with Yasuke. But this game feels like a slap in the face followed by a kick in the ass out the door.
I completely agree with you.

SBI is not involved.

AC Shadows❌ Ghost of Tsushima: Alibaba Edition✅
You're actually on to something here...
This is one of the most nuanced and fair takes I’ve ever seen in a RUclips comment.
Which means it’s gonna be ignored by most people😂
@@bloodymaresI'm thinking of more disguise such as a shameless pathetic beggar, or a lunatic/retard whose mouth is drooling, playing around like a disable child, pissing right in front of the targets face and they wouldn't even know they're being tailed/targeted. IMO he will be the type to love Yasuke
its sad because what we want is so easy to execute, but they manage to go off course entirely with the games they release.
@@adamibnal-alam8917 I hate the RPG elements in AC games, but even I agree that this would be a better idea than two characters!

I don’t think Ubisoft was thinking about the sword. You could do social stealth as a fire demon in mirage.
@@HahahMamaman What do you mean when they weren't thinking about the sword? I've never heard it used metaphorically.

If you want a medium that respects Janapese culture, watch Shogun or just play Ghost of Tsushima again.
What's Janapese?
There’s a lot more to it than just stealth.. Yasuke is a historical character, I think it’s cool. It’s like the best of both worlds. You do get to choose who you want to play as. I’m ready for the game!
This video made me realize I thought Shadows was going to have mechanics from Mirage, which I now realize was never a smart thought to have. Shadows was deep in development when Mirage was made and almost done, when Mirage was released.
Mirage was supposed to be a dlc.
Enemy Armor will be a big part in shadows Combat and that will be the thing where naoe struggles in Open Combat. A tank Samurai will quickly Turn into a damagesponge for her and jasuke can Just crush the Armor

Am I the only one that loves that the shindig girl holds out her hidden blade before you even decide to assign ate the enemy
I used Naon for easy or stealth missions, while Yasuke for hard or difficult missions. That's what gonna be my playstyle.
I think yasuke caters to newer players or to those that prefer a more combat efficient player rather than stealth, all in all its smart to draw in more players while still giving a great stealth character to those that love the older games
New challenge is going to be Yasuke stealth only run XD
But how we will find out later
I feel like yasuke would be important for boss battles. She’d be more glass cannon type
I feel everyone will play as naoe because she has so many options like you can fight if you want to but you can just ghost everyone if you want
A lot of people want a hack and slash game, but I did see a pole somewhere that had like 80% people saying they were going to main Naoe.
I'd definitely play as both. Having standoffs in Ghost of Tsushima was very fun.
Yea now that I think about Noaa is gonna be the only character people will be playing as and once they level and learn how to fight well then no one will play as Yasuke a lot
You're underestimating how many people don't have the patience or desire to play stealth. Lots of people just want to fight and kill.
They stretched all the "features" of it and we got a glorified DLC
i just hope its different then ac valhalla…
Idk why Valhalla seemed like a step back, like the visuals, facial animations, cloth physics etc. I liked the story, but again it was too long for its own good and also the sidequests were so bad and repetitive. And hopefully this game will have mocapped facial animations or atleast human expressions unlike Valhalla.
@@ronlionheart1646it’s crazy comparing black flag cutscenes with Valhalla ones
Different and good can be very far apart especially where Ubisoft is concerned.
@@ronlionheart1646 I think they were forced to work with an impossible goal: the higher ups wanted Valhalla to continue as an online service like GTA 5. they crammed a lot of content into the game, resulting in poor quality. I mean AC combat gameplay was fun if you try learning
It makes sense why he can't use social stealth... It doesn't make sense why he doesn't have fleshed out stealth as a whole.
Watching the combat gameplay reminds me how good the combat is in Ghost of Tsushima
We should wait for a sale on this game, the monetization is such a bigger issue than all of these. Don't preorder.
It's not even worth purchasing. Syndicate is a better AC game honestly.
@@snowshock8958 If female character didn't sell, Tom Raider wouldn't be as huge as it is.
Alright well let’s look on the bright side. That main theme slaps unreasonably hard.
Great video, they completely misunderstood or intentionally move away from what makes Assassin's Creed authentic
Social stealth is not a thing because Yasuke couldn't do it, he towers over the other NPC's. It would be just another thing that Naoe could do and he couldn't. That's why it's not a thing.
So because They absolutely had to have their diversity blackman we cant have social stealth ? For fuck sake.
You’re Eastern European go play the one set in Istanbul
Yeah, but they could have just given Naoe social stealth. It wouldn't have been some game breaking thing
Yasuke was made for the 1 dimensional side of the fanbase, but they misjudged that side by choosing the character they did and not expecting backlash from that sort.
I dont care about story i care about gameplay tbh
Yasuke's point is to just enjoy the combat playstytle. Not everyone prefers stealth, and if the combat is fun and challenging, that is reason enough to make a character just for that. I would love a mission or two when you actually have to switch between them mid-mission: You start by creating a diversion with the samurai, having to mow down a few people, then you switch to the shinobi and infiltrate the upper castle. Then back to the samurai and so on. Could be fun

There's not way to stealthy raid a ship.

Why can't Naoe conceal her weapons like Jacob/Evie in Syndicate... ?
Yeah, it's Ubisoft. I'm not expecting much.

I agree Social Stealth is kinda crucial to games like these. How hard would it had been in the older games? If there was no crowds nor benches to just slip in? They would be fairly more tedious to play at least.
You made this vid like there’s not people out here that legitimately enjoys the combat in assassin creed.
I love how hated Syndicate was for the fact that Jacob and Evie played so similarly (among other things), so there was no point in switching between them, but now that they have a two protagonists that play completely differently, they keep going "omg why can't I play more stealthy with the obviously armoured-to-teeth brute character"
Thats because the high emphasis combat in these recent games is never what Assassins Creed is suppose to be
what sets it apart is the appeal to stealth
Combat is only used as a last resort or when you botched up an assassination attempt - thats the whole point - combat was never the focus, its being stealthy

Agreed
Doesn't mean its removal is the right way to go
To u maybe but not to most of us
It worked in the older games but it's awful in the newer ones.
So your objection is that it's boring and that's why it should be removed..
“the parkour will be super limited with him”
to be fair, the parkour is already super limited with the actual assassin character anyway, so will it really make a difference?
I still don’t like it they could done something different to set them apart
I knew Ubisoft Quebec making Shadows was a mistake
When a new Assassin's Creed game comes out, fans always say: 'Ew, this game is trash.'
Six years later: 'Wow, this game is so underrated.'"
Im still waiting to say that for origins. Its not working bro.
that only applies when the game itself is good but just not polished. Unity at launch was a buggy mess but the game itself is a masterpiece especially when it comes to free style parkour. Meanwhile Syndicate and Odyssey are hardly mentioned because they became average product with little to no distinct features
@NiceGuy69-b2y Many people have low standards. I do like Bayek though.
Master assassin I have an video idea for you assassins Creed shadows how long can I last playing stealth as yaskue
He's not gonna remember on November
@@RLFNEdit_4.0 maybe he will write it down or think of it himself
@@Gustav1245 ye but overall it's a pretty good idea and it could be just fight with naoe
@@RLFNEdit_4.0 true
I thought of that too. I can't wait for challenge runs where you have to play the whole game using stealth with Yasuke
Except that most of the time, people like Yasuke tend to go upfront. I mean all medieval soldiers in general
Another W vid from thr goat, im sure this game will be great, gotta be optimistic sone times.
This is gamers in 2024 bro, no positivity in anything. Gamers just love doom and gloom 24/7
@windebiesteultima3317 you can't be so close to the truth !
They should just remove Yasuke
Remove both and replace with real historical ninjas. Samurai don’t do stealth
@@marcduchamp5512 Nah, I want to play as Naoe. Besides what do you mean by "Samurai don’t do stealth" she's not a Samurai.
@@HahahMamaman im not talking about social stealth
Unfortunately, Ubisoft Quebec are now the main studio in charge of the Assassin's Creed series.
Ubisoft Quebec didn’t disappoint with odyssey, at least not for me
@@lukethelegend9705 this is satire right?
I wouldn't worry too much about Yasuke's gameplay limitations. The recent RPGs have proven that a focus on combat and limited stealth is enough for a large part of the audience. But thank God Naoe is there for those who want to feel vaguely like they're playing an Assassin's Creed game.
