Naoe genuinely looks to be what I had all hoped a Shinobi Assassin would be. I’m really impressed so far with what Ubisoft has shown, and I’m actually pretty excited now
I expected all Assassins to be like Naoe. Fast, nimble and dangerous.
That being said, she's gonna be my favourite Assassin and my choice to play all the missions
she's easily the assassin with the most sauce, that used to be Arno but Naoe is just so badass
@@TheMightyWolfie "all" Assassins have never been like that though. Bartolomeo in AC 2 was a brute. And in brotherhood and revelations some of your assassin recruits wore heavy armor and had heavy weapons. Not all assassins even fight and kill. Mirabeau from Unity was a political figure yet the leader of the Assassins. Machiavelli from brotherhood didn't even have a hidden blade. Being an Assassin is about the "idea" of resisting tyranny and control.
@@jaloniwilson The Spaniard actually have a very good video about this. Post Altair, since the power dynamics have changed, the assassins need people who are not just your default sneaky assassin. How will you fight a war if your assassins don't use strong armor and are 100% against combat? How will you collect good information if you don't have powerful allies? It's pretty important to understand that assassins don't need to be stealth gods, but ALL of them understand the foundations of the creed and apply the idea of hidding in plain sight in different ways. Back in the day people talked shit about Jacob in Syndicate but he's actually applying the concept of hidding in plain sight with his gang. He's working in the shadows, creating a strong gang to fight the templar influence in the streets. It's not stealthy but it is a very assassin thing to do.
The assassination montages for this game are gonna be incredible, probably the best in the series.
I know it's a small thing, but Yasuke has his own walk cycle rather than the generic anvil engine walk cycle that's used for every character and I appreciate that
All the exaggerated swagger of a black samurai 💀💀🤣

Except the first step/stomp Eivor and Basim do when they start walking
Lol I can't believe someone else noted that. I swear I said to myself at the start of this video that nobody seems to appreciate good walk animations anymore and Yasuke's was the first thing I noticed when he got off his horse, it's clean asf.
It's really the little things that matter.

Assassin's Creed Shadows is an RPG. I don't think we've been given any explanation on how much of an effect that will have on combat and stealth. There's a chance that it could be like the others where an enemy 3 levels above you is a damage sponge that's able to do 1 hit kills.
I saw some people complaining that yasuke doesn't have social stealth, which I have to say this is a 6 foot African samurai, which is not very common at this time, so he kind of sticks out like a sore thumb
Yeah quite a few people once had issue that a game called assassins creed was not about assassins, but this time for some reason the ‘lore reasons’ make it ok
If they want social stealth or stealth in general, just play naoe
@@wanderingcommenter4638 quite a bold claim. We don’t know just how much we can choose.
not common at the time? LMAO assuming Yasuke was a samurai he was the only one, although we have no evidence. He is only called a Kosho or low level bushi in what is documented.
@ak-nt2tr I have been meaning to ask someone about this because I don't really know anything about Japan or it's history but people have been complaining about yasuke's race saying that their is no evidence for it which could the argument be made that there is no evidence that he was white ethier

Parkour is one of my big concerns still. We haven’t really seen much at all, and I’m concerned about how well the world is designed for parkour as it seems to focus a lot on the grappling hook. Hopefully we see some more parkour gameplay soon.
The gameplay of this AC looks pretty good. Combat doesn’t look spectacular as Ghost of Tsushima’s, but close enough to be playable. Stealth, though, does look impressive.
I think what I find myself doing is comparing it to Ghost Of Tsushima instead of past AC games, I did the same with rise of ronin instead of comparing it to Nioh or Wo long, these games are definitely upgrades from their predecessors but Ghost is just perfect combat wise, scenery wise, gameplay wise I know I'll be doing the same with When Winds Meet and Phantom Blade ZERO I'll end up comparing them to Ghost and that raises my expectations for the games wh8ch set myself up for disappointment
@trvpmusic2569 I mean it's very similar to ghost but the stealth looks better, the weapon variety looks better, and it obviously has better climbing mechanics but that's just me

I think the catch with Naoe will be her squishiness towards enemy attack, since she doesn't wear any armor so she will take more damage than Yasuke, so doing open combat with her will be more punishing, which for me it's another reason to use her rather than Yasuke

About his size, Asians were much more smaller back then. There was a time when Chinese emperor Zhudi during Ming Dynasty sent his men to explore overseas a couple of times. One time they brought back some of those European armours and weapons, the emperor at first refused to believe that those were made for humans as they were too big for "human size". And as for the Japanese they were even shorter than Chinese people. During world war two Chinese people used to call the Japanese envaders "Little devils".
They're both good characters and actually effective depending on the situation. Yasuke being a powerhouse in combat and Naoe in stealth
So my final thoughts. AC shadows looks like a very fun ac game. Naoue moves like a ninja she will definitely be my prime character when I play this game. It will be a very FUN playthrough. With that being said THO, the one thing I will judge about it and many of the previous ACs is the lack of parkour animations and variety! It’s been 10 years since ac unity, 10 years… now naoue moves even faster than basim but I still see the same basic parkour animations from origins and so on… this is an RPG ac game so it’s chill right now. But I just feel like devs are putting parkour animations and uniqueness in the backseat which I think is what’s stopping ac from hitting new heights. I hope in the future devs remember this and how important parkour was to the AC franchise and start bring this back to the surface! I just imagine how sick these games will be when parkour gets that respect back and you CHAIN that together with the spectacular stealth as well. Like sideways wall runs, and flowing up and down parkour like unity, add some creativity they can do it to the parkour! Cause it’s been years since unity and that is still peak parkour to this date! It’s something to keep in mind that’s all, still a very promising game ahead of us with Shadows. (And cutscenes should add in motion capture!)
Dude we've barely seen her do Parkour and it already looks good chill out
@@redninja3056 G the climbing animations are the same and I already said besides that it looks good. I’m just giving out pointers on the future of parkour in AC games. I am chill bossman
The cut from ac shadows to ac unity immediately made me realise how smooth unity animations are. Ac shadows still has janky animations. Don't want another ac Odyssey quality game. Hopefully they fix this before release
The assassination montages in this game are gonna be insane
Agree 👍 😊
"this is what 100 hours on ac shadows looks like"
I just want this game to wow us, and feel fresh and innovative, just like that AC Unity E3 gameplay demo (the one with Arno parkouring down Notre Dame Cathedral and air assassinating from a guillotine) did all those years ago.
Regarding the narrative side of things, i hope Naoe is a Connor Kenway- esque character in terms of characterisation, without the flaws of the writing of Connor. I hope we get the outfit from the teaser trailer, the one with the traditional beaked hood and long sleeves.
I hope we get double assassinations back in this game, but overall i like the innovations with stealth gameplay.
I’m impressed with that they showed. And the difference between Naoe and Yasuke’s walking style, attack, and the way they move in combat/parkour is so different as it should be. I’ll def play more as Naoe but hell, even Yasukes combat looks fun too. I also appreciate the combat being newer. It needed that
Naoe is like Shao Jun. I hope we still get an AC in China some day. but until then Naoe will be fun to play for sure.
That was really cool. I am looking forward to this game. I like that Naoe and Yasuke look to play so differently. Wish we could have seen how Yasuke would have handled the mission.
When MasterAssassin uploads, expect a banger every time. Enjoyed your breakdown of the reveal my man!
11:22 this shot worries me, i dont see a single pole, corner swing, parkour starters or anything really.

People have been saying this game will suck since the cinematic trailer came out. So that’s why I said it actually looks fun.
This gameplay walkthrough looked so good. The only thing that i didn’t like is how Naoe climbing on top of the ledge. It’s an Eivor’s way of doing it, and Basim in Mirage do it so much smother and faster. I hope they will change it in the future
Just to point out at 5:58 the reason there are three abilities is because there wasn't a fourth one equipped. Since there is the fourth slot on the right side it's obvious only three abilities were shown odds are there are going to be alot of unique ones they intended to keep secret until we actually play it. After all it's not fun if we are shown everything just from a gameplay segment.

Yaske can't hide in plain sight
Doesn't need to when you're the emperor
If you can believe people in pure white robes with a hood always up , visible throwing knives and a red sash can walk around stealthily in public and not draw attention, you can believe a black man in feudal Japan wearing dark armour that covers everything but his face can also hide in plain site .

Love how the time to kill is quicker. I mean it has to be. Yasuke is freaking giant black samurai with a katana. There was no type of armor back then that could defend against a couple swipes and stabs.
With the scouts it would be have been longer but personally better if you had certain places you have to go to , to meet a scout and send them to “scout” a certain target/area whilst you do side activities etc which prolong the story

Japanese men were under 5' at the time
my Japanese father was 6'3" and he towered over other Japanese a lot as well, although our average height has changed to 5'7" now
Ngl, I absolutely hate the NPCS bowing down to Yasuke. They should have the opposite reaction, seeing as Japanese people were extremely racist at that point in time. Just look at how the main character from Shogun is treated, that’s a way more realistic portrayal of the time. Specially since Yasuke and the British guy from Shogun have basically the same status, both being “hatamoto” for a lord.
Yasuke was not a Hatamoto, he was a 小姓・Koshou.
How can you be racist towards a race they never interacted with before?
They would hear the news that nobunaga accepted a giant black man as a retainer and then assume this was the samurai.
Considering the price for disrespect samurai at the time was death, why the f would they risk NOT bowing to the rumored foreign retainer?

I'm glad you are talking about! Super pumped up for this game!!
that's RUclips's comment section nowadays. AC Mirage also had many negative comments on RUclips but still surpassed Ubisoft's expectations.
I'm sorry to say, but that part of the fanbase (at least the ones who are part of the fanbase, not just random, onlooking ubisoft haters) are pretty delusional. Also, it's nothing new, with every game, the fans get more divisive. It's like each game was a point in the series where a lot of players decided "yeah, that's exactly what I want, everything after this is trash". I mean, I know a handful of people who only love the first game and hate everything else that came after. Sorry about this little rant, I've seen enough hate in the past couple days, and just meant to explain that this happens all the time, at least within the AC community, tho it's true lots of other people who have never touched the games pop in often to say they look trash.
The game looks absolutely amazing, it's still not a perfect mix, but it by far exceeded my and most other people's expectations, the combat looks way better polished and more interesting and the stealth is such a huge improvement in the series. I can't possibly wait for the release myself, I'm already obsessed xD
@@azzor4134 Yep!
If ubisoft wants to make a good samurai game, they SHOULD be taking inspiration from Ghost of Tsushima.
Go and look back at the comment section of the trailers of last 5 AC games. They don't get good reception from "gamers" neither do COD, battlefield, EA's sports games and fortnite yet these games sells heaps to the point where Ubisoft was puttng them on yearly at one stage. Now I don't want to put AC games in the same bracket as the other 3 since its a single player story driven game thats not infested with microtransactions but we can't deny that this series does also attract lot of casual gamers which in turn makes "gamers" to hate on the AC titles. If you want to see some unbiased takes about AC games, its always better off watchhing AC fan channels rather than looking at the comment section of IGN and Gamespot.
There are also some reasons why this game is getting tone of hate but we all know why so i'm not gonna mention that.
Relation between master assassins and Assassin's creed can never been broken
The combat is what impressed me the most. Felt really dynamic and the physics were very impressive.
Remember y’all this is Ubi, the demos always look great, wait for reviews on this one, don’t give in to the hype!
To be fair here, this could very well be a good game. It's like how people felt after fallout 76 came out. Everyone hated on it, eventually people came to really enjoy the game after a time.
I miss his old pfp, but this is nuts. Finally it took like 5 years for Ubisoft to finally listen to us.
i hope Yasuke can climb buildings because in his gameplay is no climbing so i hope he does
At least they play a hiphop beat when Yasuke fights, lol.
My question is, was a samurai protagonist really necessary? Don’t get me wrong but from what we have seen so far with how drastically different both characters are I feel like Yasuke wouldn’t be able to climb or do other stuff that a assassin should be able to do. Now you might say, “well that’s why we have two characters”. But it’s an ASSASSIN CREED game. If I wanna play a rpg game then there’s so many other choices like the Witcher and Ghost of Tsushima, and more.
I see your point and feel the same way since if seems naue looks more in tune with the assassin creed setting But I believe ubisoft is looking at things from a monetary standpoint as some people who loved the ac Valhalla games due to the brutality of it will play as yasuke while those that love the sneaky part of the first games will play as naue
Tbh tho, it's not like yasuke here is th 1st character in th whole saga to have such an open n aggressive fighting style; he's not even officially an assassin. In ac 2 mario auditore n bartolomeo d'alviano were both assassins n members of th brotherhood, but since they were also th leaders of th respective mercenary factions of monteriggioni n venice/rome they had a fighting style of brutes, especially bartolomeo w/ his bianca. Mario was even th mentor of th entire italian brotherhood before handing over th role to macchiavelli n then to ezio, despite almost never having a stealth approach. Edward 2 frm ac 4 wasn't much for stealth either, w/ all those cannons n mortars on his jackdaw. Same thing for adewale in ac freedom cry. Kassandra n eivor didn't have stealth approaches either, but these 2 aren't actually members of th brotherhood, so they don't rlly count. I mean.. even in th historical 1st ac of 2007 th stealth wasn't exactly something canonically required in th game at th lore level, given that th levantine brotherhood was a public organization at th time, w/ masyaf being their sovereign state; so, how do u act stealthily when th organization u are part of is well known in th public consciousness throughout th region u operate in? In ac 1 th stealth part was only required when u had to get close to th target in question, but then their execution had to be public to send a message, cause that's what al-mualim wanted
For my Mirage gameplay, i removed everything from the screen (talking about the UI) and left only the compass and aim reticle, which made it soo immersive for me
I wonder if they'll make Yasuke's armor breakable as well like the enemies so you have to get heals and armor, or get repairs, would be a fun challenge
Looks DAMN good to me. Yasuke being an absolute unit as he should be and Naoe surprised me with her stealth capabilities, especially when she used a bamboo shoot as a breathing tube. Definitely getting this
I'm actually pretty darn excited for AC Shadows, who doesn't want to play as a assassin in federal Japan but I hope Unisoft doesn't ruin it
So will there be black box mission like in unity?
The new animations and destructible environments look so good. Also the amount of NPCs in the streets were impressive
My biggest thing I’m worried about is Naoe VA like I really hope it was just for this showcase and it gets improved before the game release it sounded terrible
I agree, but it’s not a big deal to me since I’ll probably just play on the Japanese dubbed audio.
Stealth is peak
this type of stealth is what I want in AC👌 much perfect since unity
I was kinda hoping that i could sneak around with yasuke as well but i will still buy this games for sure looks fun
It's funny how the tools and possibilities they show for Naoe are on par with old-school Assassin's Creed, but they didn't bother to add much for the combat-oriented Yasuke.
I think people who love the last trilogy for the gameplay don't need much more, since it was basically just combat, and this one looks much much better with weight and cadence. But thank God this time there is an assassin-like character with some depth.
It was pretty good but unfortunately it didn't wow me as much as I wanted it to, the quality of the game still feels like it belongs to the RPG era of AC games, like I know its an RPG game but this was meant to be the next gen/level of AC. I didn't see any parkour improvement, even saw reused walking, climbing and jumping animations. The new stealth mechanics are nice ig. The npc cutscene animations was also not very good. Naoe's gameplay is much better than Yasuke's. Still interested but don't feel as excited as I was for Mirage.
Jesus Christ 🤦🏽♂️

@@SHADOW-ur6th I like watching MasterAssasin’s content
I'm a fan of your videos, but as an Asian I need to criticize certain elements in the gameplay that misrepresent Japanese culture:
1. The farmer's clothes are more to Chinese and Vietnamese attire than Japanese
2. Torri gates are an entrance to Shinto shrines, not towards a village. Yet we see Yasuke riding horses entering the village passed through those gates, which is wrong. Ghost of Tsushima did the research better than Ubisoft apparently.
3. Cherry blossoms is during spring and rice planting is during end of spring, both cannot co-exist in one frame.
4. Yasuke entering Fukuchiyama, the village is under Mitsuhide's territory, who is responsible for killing Oda Nobunaga during Honno-ji incident. The fact he can passed through guards till the center of the town is baffling beyond reasons. The guards would attack him in full force once they saw him wearing the armour with Nobunaga's crest.
The fact the Westerners still lump all Asian cultures in Japan shows their racism, ignorance and orientalism, despite Ubisoft calling themselves progressive.

@@Justsiilvera shinobi actually, not a samurai
The enemy soldiers called him samurai in game footages
I'm most excited for the stealth. Naoe's gameplay was hype; I imagine some of the AI was dumbed down so they could show off as many new features as possible, and I'm excited to see what it looks like without any training wheels. I also feel like the combat they showed was dumbed down for cinematic effect; there's no way enemies won't try to interrupt you while you're trying to combo their buddy. I really wanna see how it looks like when the enemies don't line up to die one by one.
It’ll be really cool if there’s a coop mode where your friend can play as the other character that you didn’t choose
Hey just made my first AC video. Also i'm 100% gonna be playing as Naoe and i'm gonna buy this game at first i was reluctant but it does seem like it's gonna be a good game based on gameplay.
The stealth looks better than the one in ghost of Tsushima but that’s just me
The gameplay is looking amazing, I'm glad i didn't immediately hop on the boyscott wagon, because they are cooking, naoe and yasuke look like absolute power houses so far, even more so than basim and eivor, and its honestly cool they chose a va with a similar voice to adewales, you can really hear the power and brutality in their voice.
Did anyone else notice that yasuke was switching between stances while using the katana??
😲
Those Yasuke soyjaks have been real quiet since the gameplay dropped.
nah they should have not implemented a samurai(well this kind of depiction of a samurai) to an assassins creed game since historically and fits in the ac that a samurai is a shinobi since it is a job of a samurai.....and makes sense its a japanese character not a sore thumb of an african
@@nozenkyuzeroI love White fragility so much. It's delicious🤡🤣
I honestly think ubisofts showcase was fantastic Outlaws and shadows gameplay looked amazing. Im definitely buying both day 1 and the haters are wrong
🎯👍🏻
I hope naoe parkour isn’t all just about the grappling hook because i didn’t really see much of her parkouring herself
Yasuke was the first Black Samurai and back then in the Samurai times, Japan didn't really ever come across someone like him and people were a lot shorter back then and it was rare to even see a giant like him
I never experienced cultural appropriation before until assassins creed shadow was announced
not worth it
you have a good point about it not looking damage spungy, it also looks too be way more grounded than the last couple of games. hopefully this continues and they give it a litle scifi twist in the end of the game for old times sake.
been waiting for your review since the showcase
My fellow gamer brothers and sisters, Ubisoft cannot be trusted. Let the game release
Yes, let the game release to say the games is good, but also to say that the game is bad
Promising ? Yea, stay tripping
You're hating on a game that didn't even came out, wait until it comes out, see what it is like than if it's bad you can hate on it, but chill for now, have some faith that the game will be good, if it isn't fair enough you can hate on it, but for now chill
@@diogo1612bodim imma wait on this game just to shit on this comment
@@Lu_Xiu if the game is bad i will give it to you, but you gotta wait for it to be fully realesed say anything concrete, lets be civil, no reason for us to be jerks here friend
@@diogo1612bodim I'm just waiting for this game to launch with 50 skin packs. I'm against video game skins that make u pay money in a paid game. Like cod. Ghost of Tsushima only launched with Director's cut and gave u extra skin with a dlc. Ubisoft doesn't even let u earn their currency unlike FC5
Mirage looked promising too...
i hope going into cover is more like Unity over Syndicate. i like choosing when n where to take cover as opposed to it happening automatically.
I think Naoe was meant to be the sole protagonist but they added Yasuke because “women don’t sell.” That’s why she’s so much more in depth.
How does she have " more depth"
Hopefully you're right!
They made Yasuke to cater to the rpg audience. It’s the largest part of the fanbase
@@redninja3056 I mean as far as gameplay mechanics.
@@mariguana7918 okay so how?
This makes me sad and angry people are defending this game after after everything Ubisoft has done.
the "dont ask questions just consume product" group
What did they do this time?
@@loop9473 i mean....having a pre-order exclusive mission and the pricing is so greedy
@@nozenkyuzero People are defending this game because it has a black hero.
@@nikhilnewse3318 not only that though theres also the rpg gameplay that theyre trying to normalize
