- What if you started Elden Ring's DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, at level 1 with an empty inventory? That's what this video is about.

Love the challenge runs

The legend

the man, the myth, the legend himself
Walking into dragon's pit with messages like "Amazing Treasure Ahead" and it's 6 smithing 1's is so funny but here it's actually a godsend
I love that they put enough to level a weapon knowing people would do runs like this
that message in that exact place is one of my most rated messages lmao! seeing those stones actually be useful in this video was surreal
un-got-gud noob, here. **hi**
these are usually more-or-less useless in normal leveled-up gameplay?
gee ya think? @@kurotoruk
@@kurotoruk at that point in the game the player would most surely have already found an item that allows to very cheaply buy said smithing stones from an unending supply at roundtable hold. so yes, rather funny loot to find in an omega hard dlc
Snake, this is a one man infiltration mission. Weapons and equipment are on-site procurement.

"Mini-Challenge" (21:15) that requires you to beat base Elden Ring up to Mogh at lvl 1. Pine is just in a higher echelon than the rest of us.
He probably just reused the character from his other level 1 playthrough.
Except the fact he cheesed him as stated by the description
@@DTGeorge Oh you're so right, that totally invalidates the entire rest of the game. I forgot that there are no challenges he would've faced on the way and that Mogh is the only obstacle!
@@blakebolinger6091 not to be that guy, but you can actually get to mohg pretty early if you do varre's quest. All you really have to do is kill Margit & godrick, fight an npc invasion, and run around liurnia a bit. Still not easy to do at level 1, but I feel like it's surprising how little is actually required to get to him
@@alexharvey7660 what about the items he used to fight mohg?
The dancing lion music is so good, it’s hard to appreciate when actually playing because I’m so focused on the fight, but watching it over makes it so good
I appreciate that you included the strat you used to kill mogh rl1, I may eventually want to tackle the dlc on my rl1 character if I'm feeling masochistic or confident enough.
Everyone: This DLC is way too hard
Iron Pineapple: Starts DLC with level 1 character and zero items in inventory.
Yeah, no idea what the people are on about. My last 3 solo remembrance boss fights I had a combined death count of 1 (scorpion lady, hand thing, and putrescent knight) 🤷
@@w4tch0ut10 what level were you?
@@w4tch0ut10those (imo) are arguably the easiest bosses in the dlc. I think most people are really only complaining about rellana and the final boss
@@champion3760 Did you say putrescent is easy? hes harder than Rellana for me , the only really hard boss is the final one.
@@Moody.SmiruaiInteresting, I found Putrescent and Metyr the easiest bosses in the expansion. Some of their attacks are bastards but when you dodge them, they're done. Gaius and Romina are competing for the 3rd easiest boss here.
I’m a simple man - iron pineapple uploads an Elden ring video, I watch it

That was super entertaining! I'm a sucker for "from nothing to something" challenge runs, and this was really well put together. Ggs!

I was waiting to see someone to try this didn't expect it to be so soon. Great stuff
I've been replaying DS1 after the DLC. I picked up the Six eyed Helm. It made me think of you friend.
I really loved that video. Would be still interesting to see the rest of that playing out tbh. Also it is so nice to have a short but a lil more detailed video about what you did. Also the fight that you narrated with the demi human sword fighter was very fun to watch. Keep it up man
Watching you play this dlc made me realize why some people were calling it easy,
You're built different.
Honestly, I find it pretty easy as well and don't consider myself more skilled than the average gamer. The Scadutree Fragments are major.
@@glasletter3111 Same. Just explore well and it's not really too much of a challenge. The only bosses that took me more than ten tries were Rellana
- but that's mainly because I hate fighting humanoid, human sized bosses that can't be staggered since they are generally designed in such a way that parries are your best bet, which I can't stand because I hate how the parries work in all FromSoft games bar DS1 and lastly I didn't know how the Deflecting Hardtear works, which really makes her child's play, so consequently didn't use it -
and Radhan, but only because my friends made me think he's so incredibly tough that I turtled up immediately to the point where I was overburdened. Once I switched back to mid rolls - I mostly just kept the Greatshield - he was a child's play and went down in two tries.
@@firekeeper1870 I hate parrying as well, I can time a dodge no issue but for some reason parrying never clicks haha
Ngl though, I popped mimic tear and stood back 😅 Wanted to see how hard it actually was, was surprised when he absolutely destroyed.
Difficulty is subjective. Some people find it easy some people find it hard. Other times it's both.
@@glasletter3111 the main bosses are hard, the rest of it is easy.
Baiting Logur into falling off the cliff made me laugh out loud for real, fantastic job and well done video!!
More like Lowgur
Dancing Lion's theme is legit the best song in the game now
The best part of this DLC is the fact that Iron Pineapple will make videos about it. Love you man, i hope the best for you
"Gravity is, once again, an effective option"
yeah, i laughed when i ran past Salza, and suddenly got his hood while on the elevator
Same thing happened to me. Tries to fight him and dies because i suck and decide to just run past him but he decide to commit not alive
This is the only dlc video i will watch before playing it just because is iron pineapple
I was kinda irked that the DLC offered so many items like low tier smithing stones or gloveworts but now I’d like to think Michael Zaki knew people would do challenge runs like this so he peppered that shit in. Bless up to his enormous 5000 iq brain.
Those low level stone were a blessing for me. Since I would constantly upgrade weapons I found.
And even if I can buy them, it still saves me the runes
the low level stuff scattered around is so you can level up all the new weapons without having to spend too much at the merchant
@@yunuss58 I mean it only takes a couple minutes of albinauric genocide to top up your supply of runes so it's never been an issue for me in that regard
Exactly! At first I hated finding low level stuff but then I went to upgrade some new stuff and saw I had like 40 of all the stones and suddenly it made sense. It would have been pointless if it was all 6 and 7. Some of the placements are still underwhelming though@@yunuss58
@@dave7474 I mean, maybe from stones 5 or 6, but kill a couple of DLC enemies and you have enough runes to buy all the low-level stones you'll ever need from Roundtable Hold. Like, saving that kind of money is a little silly at that point. At best it saves you the small amount of time it takes to buy them I guess.
Loved the editing and narration of the video ! Excited to see more DLC content from you!
Really cool mini-challenge. Also cool of you to shout out the small creators. I subscribed to his channel because like you mentioned, that Mohg strat was great!
We just gonna ignore that he killed general radhan and mohg at level 1?
both can be cheesed
You can as well 🙂
just don't get hit :)
respec
Gonna guess he upgraded his weapons for that since it wasn't part of the challenge. I'm more impressed by him killing Onze with an un upgraded weapon. Mohg has like, 7 attacks that are all easy to dodge. Onze has approximately 50 quadrillion super fast attacks and several true combos, as well as frostbite, sekiro deflects, and teleports. I'm not ashamed to admit he took me a good few tries on my lvl 150 character because he just utterly bodied me whenever I'd try to heal before I understood his moveset lol
That was beautiful to watch! I have to say, this also was a perfect example of my main gripe with the DLC: a lot of the arenas do NOT work well for the boss size or boss movements. I've never had to fight the camera so hard before in Elden Ring, and it definitely wasn't a fun aspect of some of the fights. Especially with all the amazing animations, particle effects, move sets, etc., it felt really bad not being able to see half of it because the camera hits a wall, or they get close to you and suddenly you're staring at the sun or their butt. I genuinely had several instances of having to take an extended break from playing the DLC because I'd feel like I was going well in a fight (daddy dragon or daddy final boss to avoid spoilers) and suddenly the camera movement would immediately send me to the pits of hell.
14:24 You may have defeated Yoda, but this council does not grant you the rank of Master.
Wouldn’t the opposite be exiting the dlc with nothing (0:15)
The demi human swordsmaster fight looked incredibly cool. The most Sekiro-like fight I've ever seen in Elden Ring
"I reached the entrance to the DLC with a level 1 character" as a throwaway in the intro is wild. Great video, amazing level of skill. Keep it up
such a great call to show newer players what mechanics are necessary in the DLC. you're doing god's work, my man.
I really wanna see the rest of your dlc playthrough with this character. It seems really fun to see you only take on the dlc with items in the dlc and non of the vanilla game items. This was a really fun video to watch. Sorry for bad English if there is any as I'm using translator. Much love from japan!
Trying not to watch anything related to the DLC so I can go into it completely blind - mark my words, video....
*I will return to watch you*
These challenge runs bring me life lmao. I hope you continue more challenge runs in the DLC, Maybe part 2's of your other challenges? Like overloaded weight, only consumables, true SL1, or my favorite the pacifist challenge.
Me trying to write a funny comment as fast as I can so I can get a few likes and feel appreciated (my self esteem is in shambles rn).
But why?! You’re so smart and good looking.
Me trying to find a funny and relatable reply as fast as I can so it can still be seen when someone clicks on replies. (My self approval is nonexistent)
Lame
Your self-esteem may recover when you stop trying so hard to get the approval of people on the internet that you don't have time or context to write something interesting.
9 out of 10 Dancing Lions change elemental form right before procking frostbite! KEEP GRINDING!
"Standard on-site procurement, Snake..."
I'm on NG+4, my character is level 300, I blow through pretty much every boss in the base game and DLC. Took me three tries this last time to beat Malenia and I was like, "I can't believe I spent dozens of attempts on this boss before." I've thought about starting a new character so I can experience the grind again. Am I insane or just crazy?
Gotta say, your videos inspire me to try new things.
Elden Ring was my first Souls game, went back and played DS3 earlier this year and found it fairly easy as an Elden Ring player. So maybe I'm ready to just start over. Or just hang up my controller. I've beat Elden Ring a few times, I randomly help players beat the final 2 bosses as a summon because I realize they aren't that hard anymore and I like helping other desperate folks achieve victory (I never summoned players for any bosses, I literally just learned how to post my own summon sign). Maybe I've reached the end of gaming and my Satisfaction Flask is finally empty. Or maybe the end is just a new beginning?
I suggest you try another build with maybe a few challenges for yourself, play games like Sekiro or Bloodbourne, or play with some friends.

Deflecting Hardtear has become my savior for the DLC bosses. I saw a lot of people struggling with the commander behind Shadow Keep. I managed to stagger this guy with 2 perfectly timed guards + guard counter, which made the fight pretty much a joke
I was today years old when I learned that you can mash to scape grabs. Thanks Iron Pineapple.
Idk, I went in at lvl 120 and none of my stuff was fully upgraded or optimized. Those fancy stats and upgrades pale in comparison to pure knowledge. You don't even need to be particularly good at the game if you just simply know things. Elden Ring wants you to use anything and everything. That's what I love about this video. It shows the spirit of what you can do if you know things.
Great video I'm not to far into the dlc jet and i really appreciate that u made great content without spoiling people like me.
Its nice that its not really a spoiler video. I really appreciate that
id love to see this playthrough continue
Congrats. I'm pretty bad at From Software games, but I do love their lore and aesthetics, and seeing something like this is always impressive.
Everyone: DLC too hard me no like
Iron Pineapple: I wanna try a wretched run
based
Der Schnitt und die Erzählung des Videos haben mir sehr gut gefallen!
Need part 2 of this young man
your fight agains't the dancing lion is so awesome my jaw dropped
The real question. How'd you beat Mohg and Radahn at level 1 without using anything. I want to see the prequel
i will definitely try!
the hard part is to defeat mogh 😢
but i want to explore the lands between with an armamant or spell/incantation from the DLC like its my first weapon
Fun Challenge run. I had a slightly similar experience for my first playthrough of the dlc. I went in underleveled, about lvl 80-90 with +12 weapons. Far easier then RL1 fresh start, but it was still a fun experience.
This is the first piece of DLC content I've allowed myself to watch and HOLY HELL, WHAT ARE THOSE WEAPONS?! THIS IS PARADISE!
I ran through with my main which is well over maxed ng+ i was 36 hours into day 1 when i remembered my character was maxed out. I was so happy that it was actually difficult and i hadn't gone soft.
I tried it with a fresh file but got bored and went back to my main. Love it
8:05 Nice to know that chain-backstabbing has returned in spirit lol
One of my favorite things about this guy is that he knows when it’s time to just get good.
I like how equipping the Great Katana immediately causes you to enter Ultra Instinct in that Demi-human Swordmaster fight.
Great video, and the purest area lock I’ve seen so far
Love the great katana rep, by far my favorite new weapon. As a monster hunter player, the moveset just clicked for me
I love the problem solving dynamic of this game. Every boss is kinda like a puzzle
Fun fact: you can get at least 8 scadutree blessings before fighting any main bosses (source: entered dlc at lvl100 and explored A LOT before finally leveling and being able to beat anything, I may have fought like 2 or 3 bosses by then, maybe 1 or 2 were required to get to new areas, but were pretty easy)
YES! Finally, someone else did as I did - I cleared the game at level 1 - without upgrades, help or summons. then I entered the DLC, and got crushed, but I never give up. I'm still at level 1 without any upgrades whatsoever, I cleared 80% of DLC already
I’m actually shocked at how many little damage you were taking lvl 1 with just 1 or 2 scadu tree upgrades, GG
this was actually impressive asf. makes me want to do the whole run
THANK YOU SO MUCH for showing how great shields are for the DLC bosses
Getting there with a level one is remarkable in itself since you need to kill arguably one of the hardest bosses in mogh
I love it when veteran souls players absolutely push the limits of what is possible and what's not.
P.S. I love your vids iron and they always make me want to play souls games cause if you can get this far with so little then I can surely have lots of fun and a sense of accomplishment from these games
(Sorry for the yapping btw)
Yeah i totally agree, the perfect parry flask stuff should be a full time mechanic of the game itself instead of just a temporary buff
“CURSE YOU BAYLE🗣️”💯
I think a dope continuation of this would be to use a new weapon from the DLC for the remaining bosses and to not level up your character anymore
The camera against the lion when it's "standing" and you're up close seems very bad.
In my first play through of the dlc I put the lion dancers frost stomp ash of war on my great katana and it did really well for me, being able to do big damage to groups and single big enemies and the roll attack goes into a great combo that really quickly applies frostbite.
For anyone doing an Int build that is struggling with the Big wicker dudes, I used Shard Spiral last night to kill one in about 30 seconds. Since they are so big the spell does crazy amounts of normal and poise damage.
Very cool! And it showed a bunch of stuff in the first zone I had totally missed. Like an entire npc and 2 bosses!
I was a FOOL!!
I attempted this (not so extreme tho) going into the dlc, my idea was changing my weapon as soon as possible to one I find in the dlc, which was the backhand blade.
From here on, I was hopeful to find a forge 😢, so I finally could upgrade my weapon...
No spirit summons, at lvl ~142.
Needles to say, after doing barely a few hundred damage to the divine beast and a LOT of deaths, i gave up.
I found the sword of solitude, maxed it at the round table hold, and am currently progressing into the dlc.
This was so fun to watch, and you managed to convince me to give beast claws a shot.
Thank you Pineapple for limiting yourself to Gravesite Plains, since me myself are discovering the DLC right now! Otherwise I would have had to wait before watching this video :)
onze is the biggest reason im starting an int build, that star-lined sword is kinda sexy
This feels like a really unique challenge run (at least from what I've seen before) really good video!
I am so glad you are only doing the first area - Thats all I have managed to do with Work this week, so its effectively Spoiler free content for me 🙏🙏🙏
I still think it would be fun to continue the playthrough with only stuff from DLC, you could even restart weapons/talismans/etc with each region if you wanted to make it harder
Finish the DLC doing this run, incredible stuff!!
Amazing video and creative concept! Wish they had a mod or game mode to where you can start fresh like this. With setting altered a little bit for a smoother run
Game journalists “myeh myeh the dlc is too hard”
*This guy*
lol game journalists have all beaten the game and gave 10/10 without froms nerfing the difficulty for whiny babies
@@tcybgame journalists are the last people to go for reviews. This dlc having a higher rating than blood and wine is an insult

I am so glad you showed me this game btw, thank you
Iron pineapple, you are my favorite soft spoken RUclipsr, I like falling asleep to your vids man👍
Nah hold on, that Great Katana/Deflecting hardtear combo goes crazy and looks badass
ive watched this like 20 times make a part 2 ong
I speant...so damn long trying to beat Mohg last week and here you are killing the damn dude in 30 seconds!
Madlad somehow found a blacksmith in the dlc to upgrade his weapons
Could be kind of cool to try and continue the run but reset equipment every time you get to a new area, would give an interesting perspective on the DLC and it's items if nothing else. Regardless, looking forward to seeing what crazy runs you cook up.
Idk why, but your fight against the Demi-Human Swordmaster fell like a boss-fight, except you were the boss
Elden ring on ng+7 level 150 is brutal
Loved seeing another ER challenge run (and very nice with the cheese reveal at the end 👌🏻)
As someone who considers himself good at Souls games, and at level 301 with several fully upgraded weapons, some of the best armour, and talismans, and all that, I still struggled a bit with the DLC. Sure you might not have beaten it, but it's still quite impressive that you did at least this.
Soul-like game suggestion

Ps, press U so you can use your mouse to attack in the mouse direction.
2)tails of glimmervale
It would be super cool to see this challenge with the whole dlc
That Dragon fight was pretty cool to watch.
