Because this is a Chinese game, and few people in China buy physical discs, and the physical version is mainly for the overseas market,not their first choice, it's that simple. In addition, 820 is a very important date for Game Science, so it‘s impossible to delay the main platform PC release.

Why is everyone seeming to care so much now? Maybe I missed it but I don’t remember anyone crying about this with Balder’s Gate 3 or Alan Wake 2, two of 2023’s biggest and supposedly best games

I honestly don’t care either way about physical personally, but I will say this is a fundamental misunderstanding as to why people buy physical releases from the developer. Lol. People don’t buy them to have a collector’s box. Well at least not most people. People buy physical to have a physical copy of the game. A lot of games do this, especially in collector’s editions making it even weirder because they’re so pricey and you don’t even get a disc with them. But it makes little sense why they would think this is what people want when they buy physical.

It's massive news you won't have a disc. People have started moving away from digital at a rapid pace. We have all seen why Digital is not the way to go. However IMO release the game in August for Digital and work to get the Disc version out after. Or have people Preorder the game, give them a code that unlocks the game in August and then have the Physical discs ship when ready. Basically they need the ship dics.

While I also rejoice that this game seems to being going solid, I don’t recommend preordering. While I have all faith in this game, i don’t recommend giving them your money till the game is out and reviewed.

My heart sank when I heard that there would be no disc version at launch. I waited for so long too. Guess I'll get Stellar Blade or something and wait till they release an actual physical version

This is a fundamental misunderstanding as to why people who buy physical want a physical copy. Lol. Maybe some do, but most don’t just want a box for display. They want a physical copy of the game.

Horizon Collectors and GOW both just had a digital download code. It does suck but that’s where we are heading.
I try to get physical mostly but on some games that I play a lot I prefer digital. This game looks awesome and I plan to enjoy it regardless.
Neither of these are issues, Series S is an objectively inferior console and MS only have themselves to blame if 3rd party devs start avoiding Xbox altogether. Xbox owners should count themselves lucky that it's coming to that platform at all.
Physical media is dead, it's inefficient, wasteful, and utterly pointless nowadays when a huge number of people don't even have disc drives on their gaming platform of choice.
Yep that's true the series x and ps5 both have 16gb of ram but the series s only has 8gb same as the ps4 but unfortunately thats a last gen console its the same as baulders gate 3 they couldn't get that game running on the s so it just came to the x which is what might happen here

My problem is if there actually is depth to the systems, levelling, combat, items etc. haven't seen anything remotely regarding that.
And the other big thing for me is length, they've stated they are aiming for over 15 hours of gameplay.... Can you imagine lets say for comparison play Sekiro and you hit credits after about 15 hours, I'd so disappointed. Sekiro is at least 40 hours even if you're good at it.

These new games will be optimised for 5 PRO! So even the X is a struggle! If you take into account that the regular vanilla 5 is already more powerful than X!
5 Pro will optimise resolution and frames like how everyones been expecting and using the 4 vanilla and 4 Pro to 5 vanilla and 5 Pro! X is already gimped at launch
I really wish people would stop with the bad narrative regarding the series s. Digital foundry already confirmed that the series s isn’t the problem. Developers are making the ps5 the priority when developing the game. And the issue with that is that the PS5 doesn’t have all the latest tech with regards to shaders and memory usage but also up scaling tech. So because that side of the PS5 is weaker they are doing work arounds for the ps5 which doesn’t help when porting the game over the series s.
Alan wake 2 proved for both Xbox’s that when you use the tech in both, the series versions are better than the PS5.
Developers should not be making ps5 the priority. Again it’s strange that the series can run 99% of games flawlessly but only a few strategic games are being delayed on Xbox..
But also why isn’t fair competition getting in on this… surely the games should be delayed on console as the devs forcing a release is giving PlayStation an advantage but also creates negative press for Xbox.
Also why has it been announced now like the other game so close to the Xbox showcase..
Anyways if want to play the game I’ll get it on pc but from an outsider this is looking pretty suspicious now!!!

Absolutely pointless issuing a physical edition with a code....no-one needs the extra waste with an empty plastic box....as with Alan Wake 2 I wont buy it unless its on disc, and its only now that I have pre-ordered the physical edition of Alan Wake 2...as you get older you realise that you don't need a game day one....and patience can be a virtue.....if this game is never released on disc then I wont purchase it digitally until its dirt cheap....that's how I value digital games, at a very low price

Damn that sucks...i been waiting for years for this game to come out and they gonna do this BS. I won't buy it at launch intil they come out with a disk version, and if they don't come out with a disk i will have to buy it when it hits the $20s maybe $30s range. I don't ever spend more than $30 on digital games.

I myself buy the games I want all digital. Don't have to be waiting in line or dealing with people.
However the other part has me confused as to why you care so much about an Xbox version of the game....Microsoft IS BOTH pc and Xbox so why is there a need for the Xbox version when they have a PC version coming out.
Microsoft needs to cut off the Xbox completely and release all their games on PC only since they don't care for Xbox anymore.
Why would they delay it, most people don't give a fuck about a disc and want all the other goodies that come with the boxed copy.

I read an article a while back that I can not find anymore, but it was right before Gotham Knights came out, and it was saying that the series s has some sort of contract that if the game can not run at 60 fps on it that it has to be capped at 30 fps across the board except for pc. The article showed the document as proof. So IMO this is good. Why should ps5 and pc players have to suffer a delay or, even worse, have them cap it at 30 to be "fair" to series s owners. Either way, that contract needs to be burned. It's the stupidest thing ever.
It's because the game will not fit on 1 blu ray disc they don't want to spend the extra money on more disc probably 2 or 3 disc

nonsense that the Series S is slowing them down,did u know that the majority of PC consumers are using a low/mid range GPU's?how can they make that work but not for the Series S that's runnign a simillar card to a RTX 2070 and the only reason i can see it not releasing on Xbox is cause its nto well optimized for PC/PS
