I can only wish other companies see this review related to maintaining long-term support. I hope mrmobile and others keep holding it as an important issue!
Ticwatch's products are lovely, but their support is abysmal! I have never bought on promises, but even with that low expectation I have been consistently disappointed month after month with any follow-ups I have to ask for from Mobvoi about my Pro3, beit quality control, features, or otherwise. I will have to wait until this goes on substantial sale until I dare to pick one up!
I had the 3 pro but there were dead zones on the touch. Got a replacement and there were dead zones on that too, so gestures were hit and miss. I gave up and went back to Samsung.
Exactly! No commitment to their products. The Pro 3 Is NOT going to get WearOS 3 as promised. I made the jump to a smartwatch with the Pro3 because that was coming. Can't wait for the Pixel watch 2 in October. 🖕Mobvoi
Yeah but if they make the update they lose Google Assistant access and wear OS app. It would render the dedicated assistant button completely useless. I don't understand why Google had to screw fossil and movboi like this but it conveniently benefits them and Samsung. That's what happened to fossil. I honestly don't want the update for that reason. I don't understand why Google made the software so these functionalities are not supported with Qualcomm chipsets. Especially since Google is warmer to be switching to Qualcomm in future generation ships on their watch.
Yeah, have seen a *lot* of frustration from Mobvoi customers about the broken/delayed update promise. It's unfortunate; hopefully they improve in that area.
I was looking into TicWatches because I wanted a wear OS watch since Samsung abandoned Tizen and I'm not willing to give up 3 day battery for nothing (gf has a wearOS watch and charging it daily is a hassle as it always dies at the most inconvenient moments) and trust is Mobvoi's biggest problem in my opinion. I wanted to get the Pro 5 when they handled wearOS 3 update well for the Pro 3 and they miserably failed to deliver while making promises again and again just to forget about them. Right after the shenanigans when they claimed to use the Wear 4100+ but in reality used the W4100 and a custom co-processor (which is btw the reason they are so late with the wear 3 update).. So how can anyone trust them when they say "your health data is protected" or "the issue will be solved with a future update"? - We can't!
@@meric12131415 They switched to wearOS with the Galaxy Watch 4 series. They are still developing it but Tizen is now only used by their TV if I'm not mistaking
My current watch is the Ticwatch Pro 3 which was bought off the back of your review. It works perfectly still and I'm generally happy with what is still the out of the box experience. I'd say the 5 is worth it for those who just want a good experience out of the box and won't change, but updates, customer service, aftermarket support etc have been awful for me like many others and I can confidently say I won't buy another ticwatch for many, many years
Same. I have the same watch and was excited when i saw his review. Went out and bought it and have been waiting for Wear OS 3 forever. This watch seems great, but without reliable software support, this is a pass for me.
the pro 3 has more features than this one it appears. the 3 has an extra button, has google assistant etc. iand ve never once cared about seeing the 'nfc' logo on the lcd screen. and cant understand how that is worth a brand new watch!
I don't understand why its taking them 3 years or more to give us the bloody update they promised i emailed them like 4 or 5 months ago and they still said they will deliver the update and still here we are waiting for it.

I loved the watch but the support is abysmal. Had the tichwatch 3 since launch and had like 3 OS update. They promised wear OS 3 update but never fulfilled. Never gonna buy any tichwatch product again.
If Google made a direct copy of this and called it's a Pixel Watch Pro (or whatever that would compete to the Ultra), it would fly off the shelves. Reduce the strap width. Aluminum or Stainless Steel casing. Skin temperature. And incredible battery life because of the second display and large battery. That'd be a great recipe. Also: here's to hoping the WearOS ecosystem matures to the level of WatchOS is because the Pixel Watch on WearOS feels 2 years behind WatchOS.
In defense of Movboi not updating wear 3.0. Google has made it so Qualcomm chipsets that make the update cannot access Google Assistant or wear os app. Ticwatch pro 3 ultra (etc ..) has a dedicated assistant button. I would prefer to keep that functionality and not get the new wear 3.0 I think Google has put movboi and fossil in a bad place. When Fossil upgraded wear 3 it lost the assistant functionality/ wear os app. Movboi we'll have the same issue since it's using the same Qualcomm chipset.
Great point here. I've also heard the same about the Assistant being optimized for Exynos but not Snapdragon for Wear OS 3+. Manufacturers won't say it, but recently Google seems not to have been a great partner when it comes to Wear OS.
@@TheMrMobile Yes now in fairness to the critics, movboi has done a pretty bad job of communicating with its customers. (Fossil, contrarily, was very communicative even when discussing the limitations of the update). So I do understand the frustration of people expecting better software support. Just think there's not a lot of good options for them at the moment.
It’s a shame: the hardware is the most perfect smartwatch I’ve ever seen. Having the old school display able to access so much of the fitness functionality means you really don’t need to use the power hungry LCD all that much. Battery life is the biggest reason I stopped using smartwatches, as they become more a hassle than they’re worth (particularly when traveling). Like what’s the point of being able to store music and bringing it into the gym when after an hour of use tracking fitness and Bluetooth pairing with my headphones, 1/3 or worse 1/2 of the battery life is wiped out? Most of the time I end up using these things purely as wrist notification buzzers because anything else decimates battery. The software though….oof. I don’t get google. Android is an open platform and that’s why it’s so successful. It’s like they’re handicapping 3rd party developers just to make Samsung happy. Instead, they should have just partnered with Mobvoi on making the best smartwatch and helped a lot on the software so others can copy. It’s not like Tizen was catching on lol
I literally just got the Garmin Epix Pro with the flashlight built in and I switch from my Galaxy watch The only thing I miss is the Google Assistant I never took calls on my watch ever and the Garmin sleep tracking and sports tracking is insane plus the build quality is next level I can't believe it took me this long to buy a Garmin watch I never knew how good they were!! Obviously way more expensive but you get what you pay for in my opinion
Had the 3, customer support is the worst of any watch company. Zero support for their watches, switched to the galaxy and never looked back. Have zero faith in that company.
I have the Pro 3 and wouldn't touch @mobvoi EVER again! Part of the experience of any smartwatch is the support of the manufacturer - there is none with Mobvoi! Advertising the use of Google wallet and Amazon Alexa on a device that's security update is 19 months old - they REALLY don't give a damn about their customers!
I bought the first watch released and it had major issues. Firstly the charger stopped working then the display stopped responding. Sorry I'll pass on anything Mobvoi.
When buying expensive tech you want to know the support is there if something does wrong, with TicWatch it just isnt. Once they have your money they really couldn't care less. A long time ago I wrote to the CEO questioning their business model. Judging by the ever increasing number of online complaints about this company nothing has changed. So buy at your peril!
WearOS is one of the reasons I stuck with Apple after moving over a couple of years ago. I just can’t get on with it. Especially after Apple have done such a good job with WatchOS 10. I was hoping that now Google have released their watch, it would get better but it’s stuck in a rut and feels like an afterthought.
I have to agree with you. I switched to a Pixel Watch and I regret it. I'm definitely going back to an Apple Watch next year. WearOS just isn't there yet.
Samsung just pushed an update for the original galaxy watch (5 years old). I hope they're committed with the new wear os as much as they were with tizen. There are still some things that were better on my old watch, but plenty others that are better in my new watch 5 pro. Really recommend it if you want a nice looking rounded watch.
Heck, as someone who strongly dislikes Apple and will never buy anything Apple, I also agree with you. Apple has done some neat things with the Apple Watch and WatchOS that are unlikely to be seen on the Android side due to massive hardware and software fragmentation. WearOS is very...unimpressive and uninspired.
Yeah not worth it I have a tic watch pro 3, Google assistant don't work big bummer and no wear os update. Only good to get notifications which is no use
Ticwatch dont update there watches , Ive had 2 ,, both had 1 security update and that was it... these days a watch is not just a watch its your mobile phone . all they do is bring out new watches with that update , very poor .
I've owned a Mobvoi Ticwatch and it had miserable battery life and just up and died a short while after I got it. I think it only just barely outlived its warranty. When I tried to contact them about it the customer service was not only nearly impossible to get ahold of but they were more than just a little rude about letting me know I was just shit out of luck.
Absolutely not buying or staying with liar Mobvoi that never delivered a single software update to my ticwatch pro 3 ultra gps. Not even security updates. You read it correct. After spending a ton on this watch being the first of its kind that was promised to receive wear os 3 update, mobvoi has delivered nothing but disappointments. What the hell now, WhatsApp is never coming to this Pro 3 Ultra watch because Mobvoi never kept its promise of wearOs 3 upgrade. Whatsapp is only compatible with WearOS 3. Thank you Mobvoi.
Mobvoi isn't the only one sticking with USB-A, and for good reason. Most USB-C power bricks won't provide current unless the connected device performs a digital handshake. It'd be kind of ridiculous to include that in a passive charger like these watches use.
Erm.. Sounds doubtful since it's just a matter of using a different cable. Chargers do indicate with something or other what wattage they can put out, I didn't think it was digital, but there is some basic communication
I desperately want another Pebble. I would literally sell my soul for an affordable color eInk screen like a Pebble 2 especially if they equipped it with cellular and fall detection. I want a simple watch for notifications that does what it needs to and stay out of the way.
The TicWatch Pro 3 was my first smart watch and I loved it. It did all of the fitness stuff I wanted and had really good battery life. Then I made the switch to Apple after my LG V60 died. The TicWatch never quite worked with it and I eventually bought an Apple Watch on sale. That changed my entire view on wearables. The level of integration still blows my mind. The health and fitness stuff is far more accurate and it’s voice dictation is just perfect. My only complaint is the battery life is horrible. I saw this because I really want Googles WearOS to catch up in terms of integration. I don’t particularly like the iPhone but a wearable has become a must have. The Apple Watch just feels light years ahead of anything Google is doing.
The entire time i was watching this, i was reminiscing about how much i miss the old Pebble watches. Say what you will about market segmentation, but i miss having more people to turn to for software, and more specifically software paired with interesting hardware, in the mobile space than Apple and Google.
My Galaxy Pro 5 gets me through Monday morning to Friday night with daily hour long sessions at the gym between charges. If the TW Pro 5 only lasts that long with the larger battery and "battery saving" gimmicks like the second screen it speaks volumes of how inept Mobvoi software developers are.
Jumped from FitBit to TicWatch 3 Pro, yes amazing hardware but Mobvi don't update it at all. Still waiting on WearOS 3. Honestly I don't think any android company can compete with the iWatch. First and Last TicWatch, crap brand ✌
Been rocking the TicWatch Pro (1st gen!) for - must be 5 years now. Very ready to update. Loving everything they've done with this one, but seriously interested in the Galaxy Watch classic. Honestly, the uniqueness of the Tic Watch low power display is a real hook. Thanks for reviewing Michael!!
I was in a similar position. Loved the original, upgraded to a TicWatch Pro 3 a couple years ago. The improvements to speed when switching between the LCD and "main" screen alone made it worth it. I am rather tempted by the 5. The battery life looks great, and I can see the colour backlight and crown being damn useful.
I have to agree with u here, in my opinion I've always thought ticwatch looks a little "cheap" like the wow factor and quality u see from other brands just not being present in their lineup. I switched from Samsung to Garmin Venu 2 Plus and never looked back, it absolutely resonates with my aesthetic requirements, be it after some wristband customization of course.
I'm enjoying the sandstone version running 3.5. Just got it for $227 new on Amazon. Not a bad value at all. Now I just need to upgrade the strap for about $20. Simple. As for Google assistant, has anyone tried asking it even the simplest questions lately? I constantly get the "Sorry, I don't un$erstand" response. Google, what are you doing?? So I have installed Alexa and it works fine.
So I was considering this watch but now after watching your video I’m questioning it… I was attracted to it features like compass, tracking, battery life, HR and sleep tracking… price seemed reasonable also… what watch do you recommend instead of this one? Love your content btw very helpful
I'm planning to buy a TikTok Pro 5, and I'm an iPhone 15 Pro Max user, so I want to use it in conjunction with my phone, but can I use it in the same way as an Android phone? If it's different, what's the difference?
I don't mind USB A Chargers, because they let me reuse Al bricks, and low power devices like smartwatches can charge quick enough off of my Laptop's USB port.
If their snapdragon 4100 watches got that Wear OS 3 update with in a timely manner, this would be the Android Watch to beat. People are understandably hesitant with shelling out $350 for this when the Galaxy Watch 6 is coming up.
My Ticwatch Pro 3 GPS is inside my drawer right now, buggy as it always was, without even a security update. Mobvoi, nevermore. Even Samsung upgrades it software.
Coming from a Fossil hybrid, battery life was my main concern going to a legit smartwatch and this thing threaded the needle. I got the other color, so my aesthetic complaints aren't there. It just looks the cleanest of anything I've found that has this kind of life. The Garmin stuff looks like garbage. Good review, the goods outweigh the bad on this thing for me by a ton.
That Skagen Falster 3 with the blue strap on the table is still the most gorgeous smartwatch I've ever seen. I'm absolutely in love with it and I can't even tell you why. And the brand doesn't sell in my country...
I own a Falster 3 and have not wanted to upgrade because mine still has Google Assistant and the new ones do not! However, battery life was becoming a concern, so I bought a Skagen Jorn Hybrid. It does not have nearly as much functionality as the Falster 3 (the Jorn is not WearOS), but it has notifications, Alexa, and some health features -- and the battery lasts about 2 weeks. It has been a good compromise until I can afford a Garmin (or until Google improves the WearOS experience on non-Google/Samsung devices).
Juan bagnell did a good video about watch droidOS updates. Basically samsung+google is becoming apple while surprisingly apple is becoming "minimally" more open 🤣. If this trend will keep on Samsung with a sidekick google will kill android.
The UI still looks terrible in a circular screen. Why doesn't google just optimize the UI for circular screens? After all, all wearOS devices use circular screens.
It is absolutely insane to me that anybody would buy a smartwatch with a non-functional voice assistant. Voice is one of the main ways owners of Samsung, Google and Apple watches interact with their devices, a smartwatch without that feature is a non-starter. I am stunned that expectations for third party WearOS devices are so low that anyone would even consider this product.
the first TicWatch was really pretty, and every one of their watches since looked ugly to me. Such a shame, since I love their dual layered displays :(
It has Wear OS 3.5 which is surely enough for most people. I'm quite enjoying the Sandstone one. I sent back the Pixel watch after 3 days having just charged it for a 4th time. My Ticwatch is getting about 55 hours so not as good as your review model but still not bad
I'm not buying another ticwatch...I have their pro. Top end smart watch a couple years ago, but no updates. Functionality is disappearing & lately my watch notifications stop after a month or so & need to reset watch to factory to fix. I bought the watch because it seemed like the best I could get for the price & not likely to be outdated
Tech is becoming boring due to the slow innovation R&D. If we can see how these products interact with the environment then there is hope you can benefit from technology at home, in the workplace, travelling etc. Silicone valley has reached the peak of invention. Hurry up with solid state batteries.
I owned a tic watch 3 a few years ago, but ended up getting rid of it due to it constantly being slow, laggy and just generally a crap software experience. Having 2 mobvoi apps that do the same as the default Google app taking up space on the watch is just bad design. I don't want to buy a watch from them again, since I don't trust its going to be a better experience
So if I am sleeping and I need to be able to receive calls from work I can't use the essential mode. If I want to receive security system notifications while I sleep I can't use the essential mode. If I want the alarm to vibrate and quietly wake me up without waking my wife I can't use essential mode. Tell me, what is that good for?
I have wanted a rollable smart watch I have had so many smart watches from the moto 360 and fossil watch and xaimi watch , the problem is i find them to heavy and not enough features such as playing music on a watch The battery is always the problem on smart watches , i dont know whether i would wear a smart watch again
Is there an option to use compass in essential mode? Please don't give me the answer without checking, because on the basis of that i am going to buy the watch Please also share the video of it if possible Thanks
Personally I can't wait for the fossil gen 7 to be announced if there is going to be one I find the fossil I'm to be some of the more beautiful on the market outside of Skagen or Montblanc's
Given your standing as a tech reviewer and your love of sci-fi, have you considered trying to get in touch Bethesda to get a preview of the smartwatch in their collectors edition of starfield
Definitely cool but I highly doubt that the backlight you're seeing on that secondary display is separate. It's almost certainly just the OLED turning on and lighting the display up.
So much time and yet to have a watch that matches the Pebble. Fitbit came close with the Sense but still buggy. None have come close to a watch that does voice commands with two week battery like the Pebble Time Steel.
I have just got the pro 5 and it's a nice watch for me I still perfer the 3 pro look over the 5 but I like my watch to look like a watch. I've owned 3 so far and I don't understand why they ditched the original strap option which was a leather with silicone inner. That said this watch is fast and fitness is great on this watch. I do like it but again ide love to see them go back to the original watch design or for another moto 360 as for me this was my favorite looking watch.

Funny enough, the bezel design is the only thing (other than software support) keeping me from buying a ticwatch, I love the matte black.
Heres hopeing for usb c with the next version
The ticwatches have never been the best examples of wear os or anything else android related a la Samsung watches.
I have the Apple Watch Ultra, each charge lasts me little over 3 days.
Well if you’d buy Samsung phone and Samsung Watch 5 Pro the integration is pretty neat
@@Minto107 I have the S23 Ultra with the Galaxy Watch 5, it doesn’t touch the iPhone/Apple Watch combo unfortunately.
@@superiortoall22 i have a flip 3 and 5 Pro and honestly and I don't miss anything, what are some things that Samsung combo can't do but apple can?
The entire time i was watching this, i was reminiscing about how much i miss the old Pebble watches. Say what you will about market segmentation, but i miss having more people to turn to for software, and more specifically software paired with interesting hardware, in the mobile space than Apple and Google.
Mobvoi promised a Wear OS 3 update for 2022, and my TicWatch 3 Pro is still running Wear OS 2. I won't give them another chance.
My only turn off from this is the software updates. Mobvoi can't even update their old watches to WearOS 3 as they promised.
My Pro 3 will never get the Wear OS update. It died while swimming in a pool.
You might have been able to save it had you found the option to clear the speaker.
@kingzach74 no it was definitely more than that. I've used that plenty of times in the past when I had gone swimming.
Skagen doesn't sell in my country either. I just ordered a Falster Gen 6 via a reseller from Japan that ships and sells watches and other stuff
1 Google search and I can order it now for 200 euros
Juan bagnell did a good video about watch droidOS updates. Basically samsung+google is becoming apple while surprisingly apple is becoming "minimally" more open 🤣. If this trend will keep on Samsung with a sidekick google will kill android.
The UI still looks terrible in a circular screen. Why doesn't google just optimize the UI for circular screens? After all, all wearOS devices use circular screens.
This watch is pretty cool! I prefer the latest Galaxy Watch Pro, though.
All you Americans are really missing out on the beautiful Huawei smartwatches, shame you can't get them and their 2 week battery life ...
To get assistant and wearos 4 you'll need to get the ticwatch pro 5 ultra. 😅
Do any of these cool watches you review work with the iPhone , besides obviously the Apple Watch? I wish Apple would make a circular watch
Is there a find my watch and or find my phone option built into that watch like the Samsung Galaxy?
Life lesson, once you’ve ordered a product stop watching reviews, how many will cancel after watching this one ?
Why would Mobvoi release the OS3 update to earlier models until they feel they've forced enough users to buy the Pro 5 if they really want the new OS?
Why would anyone buy a Pixel Watch... Yeah, it looks great. But the battery life is awful.
2:50 I must be one of the few people who doesn't use the assistant on my Galaxy Watch, neither Google Assistant nor Bixby.
This Google + Samsung partnership looks so much like Microsoft + Nokia…
The colored backlight is super cool! I love the Ticwatches.
I have wanted a rollable smart watch
I have had so many smart watches from the moto 360 and fossil watch and xaimi watch , the problem is i find them to heavy and not enough features such as playing music on a watch
The battery is always the problem on smart watches , i dont know whether i would wear a smart watch again
(5:13) That reminded me of apps from some Chinese app developers, and to be more specific, the ones that are quite bloated.
Is there an option to use compass in essential mode?
Please don't give me the answer without checking, because on the basis of that i am going to buy the watch
Please also share the video of it if possible
Thanks
5 atmosphere water resistance is basically “you can shower with it. Maybe. Sometimes.”
Oh my .....i never heard mr mobile begging to the viewers to see a video like this, this is the 2nd video he is telling about the bycycle video😮
I have a ticwatch pro but can not connect it to my pixel 9 Pro so thinking about the 5 pro as the next one
Definitely cool but I highly doubt that the backlight you're seeing on that secondary display is separate. It's almost certainly just the OLED turning on and lighting the display up.
All this innovation and still unable to have an edge to edge screen like the Moto360 had almost 10 years ago?
So much time and yet to have a watch that matches the Pebble. Fitbit came close with the Sense but still buggy. None have come close to a watch that does voice commands with two week battery like the Pebble Time Steel.
I can only hear "ma boy" in the video and not Mobvoi, nothing will convince me otherwise 🤣🤣🤣
What's the best dumb smart watch? I just want something that syncs time and maybe vibrates with a notification.
This watch pisses me off for so many reasons. The price point is obnoxious for being ugly as sin and a rubber band.
My huawei band 7 can last 12 days after 2 yrs now from 14 days when bought
I have just got the pro 5 and it's a nice watch for me I still perfer the 3 pro look over the 5 but I like my watch to look like a watch. I've owned 3 so far and I don't understand why they ditched the original strap option which was a leather with silicone inner. That said this watch is fast and fitness is great on this watch.
I do like it but again ide love to see them go back to the original watch design or for another moto 360 as for me this was my favorite looking watch.
This watch has a 4 pin connector. That's any tinkerer's dream, someone has to mention it
Last time I looked tic watch 3 also had 3 days battery life so no improvement
After I farted and my pants blew apart while fixing a flat tire I still have not smart watch no
How bad is the vibration motor this time? Smartwatch is useless if notifications are missed.
2:47 Google Assistant does actually work on the Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3 (but it currently runs on WearOS 2)
Not anymore. My Ticwatch Pro 3 now says that Google Assistant is not available on this OS version any time I try to search for something.
