I was going to go this route for my v8 s10 build. I ended up getting some blazer spindles pretty cheap. Now I do not have to worry about packing wheel bearings anymore.
This applies to pre-98 S-10 spindles, IIRC. I had my rotors turned down and ordered longer studs. I'm running 98-02 F-body (6cyl/V8 are the same) calipers and rotors. Needs at least a 16" wheel, I'm told. There's a good how to thread on S10forums. It also includes a picture for the adapter bracket with measurements. Brake hose should go on top so you can more easily bleed the brakes.
Sorta on the years. The 2WD Trucks/Blazers from 82-97 use these spindles. The 98-end year(04?) 2WD Trucks use these same spindles. The 98+ 2WD Blazers are the ones that use a different spindle with a bolt on hub bearing assembly. I have all the spindle versions sitting in my junk pile....I mean rare parts storage area.
Great video, watched this video of your's a good while ago and was thinking of going the blazer brake swap route, but turns out 2wd 98+ blazers in my area are as rare as hens teeth 😂 cts calipers it is
Parts are : 98-02 Camaro Rotors, Conversion Hubs, and caliper conversion brackets. S10 stock spindles - cut for clearance. 04-08ish CTS Calipers and Abutment brackets (JE5 brake option) All the other small parts are stock S10 like the bearings, seals, dust caps, cotter pins.
Did you make the abutment brackets. Looks like something i could fab up with some steel bar. You wouldnt have any measurements or know where i could them?
The end year blazer spindles are a solid choice. Easier to install since they just bolt right on, but are around 25 lbs heaver per side. I've been happy with the Cadillac brakes, but the blazer upgrade is much much easier and faster to do.
You said you were using a stock 15" wheel with this setup or are the 16's? Again with all of the different info out there I read you have to have 16" minimum but maybe that's because of using drop spindles?
They're the stock 15's. Clearance is super tight, maybe 1/8" if I'm lucky, but zero issues with around 5000 miles on them. Drop spindles shouldn't make a difference for caliper clearance since the mounting holes are relative with the center of the hub. There's also a couple different versions of the stock 15" rims. There's a good chance some of the later year 15's might not be identical in regards to the inner diameter of the rim.
@@wilsworkshop I am running the 15's from 1985 and doing all I can to slow down the 6.0 I have stuffed in it. I really am enjoying the videos. Always nice seeing what other people have figured out along the way and your explanations are on point. Thanks again!
Yep, stock booster. There's actually plenty of clearance at least on the earlier second gen's with "rear wheel" only ABS. The only modification I had to make was to offset the rear driver side coil pack forward on the bracket about 1". I think it's in one of my videos but if not, it'll be in one I upload soon.
It's custom made, there more common Camaro/Firebird adapter brackets available commercially, I wanted the Cadillac brakes since they're bigger calipers then the LS1 cars.

The OEM bolt on hubs are a good choice, I mainly went this route for the aluminum calipers vs steel ones.

@@wilsworkshop do you think this brake upgrade would work on the 98+ blazers too?
Bleeder screw goes to the top not the hose.
I'm interested in doing this to my 75 Vega with a 5.3 it'll be rollin on s10 spindles. Great video !! 🏁
Sounds like a fun project. You'll like the upgraded brakes, they work really well and aren't that expensive.
Thanks for your advice, the only thing I would suggest is to run a bead of high temperature RTV around the bearing cap to seal it . All the best.
Great tip!

I picked up some 98+ 2wd Blazer spindles for my 94 s10 5.3 swap.
Nice, a good upgrade for sure.
Game changer 💰🏆🔥
This was a nice swap. I really liked that you can keep the 15 in wheels. Could you break it down and make a parts list .

@@wilsworkshop can u use lowering spindles?

Just wondering if your going to turn your Rotors. They kinda look like they should be.
I didn't turn them, because they were brand new.
Where did you get the adapt brackets for the bolt on the caliper anchor bracket .
I think I'll stick with 2001 blazer front brakes and spindle

@@wilsworkshop so I have an 89 blazer what's the easiest way. I've seen many and looks tricky and expensive
Where did you get the two
brackets with 4 holes, Thank you.
Any chance this might work for a ‘91 OBS?
I wonder if this would clear my corvette rally wheels 🤔

Where did u get the hub and the adapter brackets ?
What's the company name where you purchase the wheel hubs?
Just take a look on ebay for "S10 LS1 Conversion Hubs" or similar, there's a few sellers for them.
Where did you get the adapter bracket or did you make it yourself?
They're the "98-02 F-Body" adapter brackets. I just had to notch the Cadillac Abutment brackets to clear the socket head bolt to make it work.
@@wilsworkshop from what company? I bought a bracket but it isn't going to work unless I use 16" wheels. 🤬
You using the stock brake booster? I’m in the process of swapping my 98 s10 with a 5.3 but nervous of clearance issues

What size are those bolts in -0:48 ?
I think they were 14mm by about an inch long.
what year Cadillac ?
Does this method work for 1990 square body S10
Yep, S10's used the same spindles from 1982-2004.
And did you use a 2002 camaro rotor?
What wheel hubs are u using?
They're conversion hubs for using 1998-2002 Camaro brake rotors on a S10.

who makes the adapter?

Does anyone make a kit pre done
I'm not sure, I pieced this kit together, it's an awesome setup, stops really well and cools off quickly.
