  • Join me on the Kapper Outdoors farm in the Ozarks as we drill 14 acres of soybeans! Will the risk bring a return? This is part 1 of 2 in our Missouri farm vlog series. Stay tuned for more updates on Kapper Outdoors 2.0!
    PART 1 of 2 Drilling 14 acres of soybeans today on our new Missouri farm! Here is some background if you are new to the channel:
    Well if you've ever moved you know that there are always unforseen expenses along the way! In today's episode I'll take you along for some behind the scenes adventure from my last road trip from our Southern Illinois farm over to our new Missouri farm. Today I'll load up the 12 foot bushwhacker batwing mower and my food plot cultipacker, my old food plot drag and we'll hit the road heading west over to the new 575 acre Missouri farm! Oh, we decided to buy a 'cheap' and temporary computer for the Missouri farm so that we can edit videos, and surf the internet during our 2 to 3 day stays at the Missouri farm. And also I'll pick up 18 bags of soybeans in preparation for some food plot drilling action coming out on a future episode!
    This is a massive life undertaking and we'd love to have you join us for all of the adventures as this time we will be documenting and sharing the entire journey! Thank you! Here is some background from the last few episodes in case you are new to our channel:
    ON THE LAST EPISODE: • Missouri 575 acre farm...
    It was a last minute, hasty road trip, but we had some big success! Join me for today's 575 Acre Missouri farm road trip and updates as I take another load of our stuff and equipment from Southern Illinois over to our new 575 acre Southern Missouri farm. I started on multiple bush hogging missions with my KIOTI RX7320 and the RHINO 6' HD bush hog! I'll start to clean up the side yard behind the lean to barn and I'll head down a long deep woods road in reverse to get the trail open up with my Kioti RX7320. This is an overgrown jungle, in some areas it is well over 10 feet high! Join me in the tractor cab as we make some success happen today! Also I will start clearing the pond edges and the pond dam, but that was just a little sketchy! lol.
    Thanks for joining me today, if you are new to the channel here is some background on our channel and our new Missouri home and land:
    Was this Divine Intervention? While many may not believe, I do keep the faith when it comes to living this life and putting certain priorities above others. Join me for today's episode #1 of our new life, land and Ozarks Missouri adventures! Recently we bought a 575 acre Southern Missouri farm in the Ozarks and today will be our first moving trip, our first road trip after legally owning the new 575 acre Missouri farm, and all of the adventures that go along with it. Join us for today's episode as I begin our moving process from Southern Illinois over to Southern Missouri. Today I'll tackle some of the challenges associated with equipment hauling over such a long distance. In this episode I'll be hauling my KIOTI RX7320 powershuttle cab tractor, my home made chisel disc plow and some other equipment on my equipment trailer. Oh, and I almost had a near disasterous collision in the St. Louis area as a car literally broke down only a few cars ahead of me, so while cruising at 65 mph there was a completely stopped car right in front of me and I had nowhere to go in either lane, left or right of me, so I locked up all of the brakes on my Ford F250 and the equipment trailer, and fortunately I don't tailgate so I had enough room to get my truck and equipment trailer stopped just in the nick of time! Also today I'll give you an up close and realtime view of the dead end gravel road that our new 575 acre Missouri farm sits on, and then a look at our OVER a mile long private gravel driveway as well. This is a very exciting episode and we thank you for joining us! If you enjoyed today's video episode please hit the like button and consider subscribing to join us for all of our new life and land adventures from our new land in the Ozarks of Missouri! Thanks for joining us today and we hope you'll consider joining us on our new Missouri homestead and land purchase and all of our future land adventures, land investment adventures and projects, and all of our new Missouri home rehab projects and much more! Oh and by the way if you are interested in making a Missouri land investment and being our neighbors (literally) on a dead end road, and then a dead end, private, gated road enjoying a stunning place to hunt, or build your dream home or a deep woods retreat then you can contact us at Kapper@kapperoutdoors.com
    Thank you, we hope to catch you on our next video adventure! #kapperoutdoors #kapperoutdoors2 #kapperoutdoorsMissouri #missouriland #missourihuntingland

    I haven't seen a soybean field since I moved to Texas. They grow mostly winter wheat and cotton down here. A few farmers try corn from time to time, but it usually burns up before they get a crop and they plow it under. This year was cooler and wetter than most. You may have heard the saying, 'knee high by the fourth of July', but by the middle of June, the corn had tasseled and had full sized ears. Now they'll have to come up with a combine to harvest their crop! Been here 40+ years, never seen a corn crop come in.

      Yep same here this year for those lucky farmers that got their corn in early and before the mega rains. They are 7' high by the 4th of July!! And everyone else is knee high, lol. It was a wet spring here for sure also!

    I would definitely make that fence gate wider for dump trucks, semis, and other big equipment for future projects, I would also do the same on those narrow culvert crossings with the rocks

    I lease my 80 acres to a farmer in Salem Illinois, and he planted soybeans this year again. But the weeds were about 2 feet high in spots. He sprayed on Saturday and planted on Sunday about 2 weeks ago. Weeds are now brown. Hope they grow.

    Watch out Joe, Laredo Soybeans are a Hay Bean (grows lush and tall and good for wildlife) but are NOT ROUNDUP READY!! So don't spray them with Glysophate cause it'll kill the plants. So maybe they'll do ok and you can control grass with Clethodim or something similar. Be sure before applying something on them. Good luck---you certainly have gotten lots of rain on them.

    • @rep1989
      @rep1989 3 месяца назад +1

      That’s what I was thinking when I saw Laredo. I think Hutcheson is another soybean variety they use in some food plot mixes because they are cheaper.

    • @clarkwheeler8764
      @clarkwheeler8764 3 месяца назад

      @@rep1989 You are right. Hutchinson is a Hay Bean also. Not RR. Kapper should have more than enough of these soy beans get him to fall food plot planting time.

    Those guage wheels usually have 3 or 4 different holes where you can raise them if you aren't making contact with the ground after removing all the cylinder donuts. If you raise gauge wheels you usually have to go back and add some donuts. The reason this is different than normal is you didn't run a disk or anything to fluff up the ground, but that drill is built for planting in unprepped ground.
    Don't increase stress by setting
    unrealistic goals. You'll wind up off work for a month of recuperation, doctors orders.

But yes, it comes with plenty of failures, or 'learning experiences' along the way! But I got them all in the ground and we got lots of rain on them! Stay tuned we'll see what happens!
