recalls dont mean the car is bad. every car has lots of recalls cause companies are terrified of lawsuits so the recall a car for every tiny thing these days

I have a 2015 Summit California Edition and I love it. Best car hands down I have ever owned. Jeep lost me on the redesign for 4 reasons. 1. dial shifter??? WTF. On a jeep? Honestly, what were they thinking about this? 2. Cup holders behind the dial shifter. WTF? Put two thermos bottles in the cup holders and try to change gears?? The balance police (placing the dial shifter in the middle of the console) and cup holders behind that won out over practicality with this design. Why doesn't anyone call this out? Even the salesperson admitted it was stupid. 3. Call me a dork, I LOVE the wood on the steering wheel. I like how it feels and looks. (I can get over that) 4. Putting that stationary window in the rear window makes it look like a family hauler. (no offense to families) Couldn't they distinguish the L and two-row versions by doing away with the stationary window? The previous design looks so much sportier with one window. (again, I would get over it) PLEASE put a real shifter in the car and cup holders to the right of the shifter and I'm running to the dealership. Oh yeah, ditch the piano black.

it depends on how much off road you would go..
i would choose BMW X5 M40 / M50 for the on road mostly, and due to brand name and status, reliability per latest consumer reporting, panache in BMW are way great vs Jeep

I had a 2012 X5 and literally babied it. But I was constantly hit with $2000 repairs. Even with strict maintenance and oil changes. Finally the engine failed and I was quoted 13000 to fix. The BMW X5 is the car version of the house that Tom Hanks was fixing in the movie "The Money Pit".
