Loving the Elta MD UV Elements spf 44 ☀️ It’s been really good for my dry sensitive skin.
It has a slightly dewy finish, which I like. And it doesn’t break me out 👍

As someone who notoriously never used sunscreen (much to my friends’ chagrin) I have started in the last year thanks to you. I know you didn’t jive with the Australian Gold tinted, but that is one of my favorites. Leaves a soft matte finish on the skin which I appreciate along with its availability and low price. My #1 though is NARS tinted sunscreen (SPF 30). Beautiful coverage, I’m not a fan of overly “Dewey” finishes, I’ve got 4 bottles stocked. It took 41 years for me to get on the SPF bandwagon, but better late than never!!

I have accumulated a nice collection of tinted sunscreens. I’m very proud and happy to have them. I have not been wearing foundation at all. Here is my current list:
    - Dr Jart premium beauty balm spf 45 (prior to watching Dr Dray)
    - alastin hydratint pro mineral spf 36 (prior to watching Dr Dray)
    - MD Solar sciences mineral tinted creme spf 30 (like it but a little slippery)
    - cetaphil redness relieving daily facial moisturizer spf 20 (surprised how much I like this)
    - Elta MD UV physical broad spectrum spf 41 (great)
    - My Chelle sun shield liquid spf 50 (I like that it’s matte)
    - colorscience total eye 3 in 1 renewal therapy

Yay! Was looking forward to this video. I'm using the Clinque moisture surge CC cream SPF30 on top of a base layer of Skin Aqua sunscreen. It comes out as quite a thick consistency from the tube but blending it well helps. It's also non-greasy and fragrance free. Would love to try the Colour Science and Elta MD ones after I am done with the Clinque's! 😊

Great video, as always 👍. For those in Europe (like me, I'm in the UK) who find it hard to buy some of the ones you mentioned, Bioderma do 2 tinted varieties of the Photoderm Max Aquafluide, a light one & a golden version. I use the light version, it still has a golden undertone & I think it would suit most light/medium skins (except the v pale).

Dr. Dray! Just wanted to tell you how much we appreciate your reviews! I finally got on the sunscreen game and bought so many that you recommended. I started using the bioderma one today and upon applying, i didn't like it very much because it was a little white but 30min later, the whiteness went away and i was able to skip my coushion compact because the sunscreen made my skin look so good!! Just ordered the Ulta MD tinted with your link, can't wait to try layering it on top of the bioderma one :)

My favorite right now is Ulta Beauty’s tinted mineral face lotion. It’s not shiny, which I love. And it has iron oxides (I didn’t know that was something to look for so thanks). It’s only an spf30 but it has a great whipped texture that absorbs quickly so I don’t mind reapplying.

I've used Cotz Flawless Complexion in the past and I like it. It's entirely zinc based and has iron oxides. Leaves no white cast at all so darker complexions might enjoy it. It's also more affordable per oz than the Cotz Face you mentioned in the vid. Cotz also makes an SPF 45 lip balm that leaves no white cast; thus I like it better than the Vanicream one.

I love Pratima 100% Mineral sunscreen during the 1st application. Applies smoothly, matte finish, no detectable white cast, no fragrance, doesn't irritate. However, it does pill upon re-application. I also don't wear foundation, just so I can reapply my sunscreen periodically throughout the day. I'll definitely try out Colorscience.

Your videos are awesome Dr Dray! Thank you for all the amazing information! I have three questions if you have the time:
    1. What gives the EltaMD UV Physical sunscreen the cooling sensation I get very briefly after application?
    2. Also, why does this sunscreen dry my skin out?
    3. What ingredient do I have to look out for to make sure it doesn't happen again?
Thank you so much for your time!

Thanks for the video. It is so hard to find a great sunscreen. I have been using Elta MD UV Physical SPF 41 for about a week now, and love it. It doesn't dry out my skin and LOVE that it doesn't burn my eyes....that is a big plus. Thanks again for the info ...love all your videos.

I went to Ulta yesterday and was able to find the Australian gold on sale. It said $14.99 once I got to the register it was $3.99. So I got two of them.

Hi Andrea! I’m in Phoenix for work this week so definitely am wearing multiple layers of sunscreen. I’m also happy I get to visit a Whole Foods since we don’t have them in Alaska. As for tinted sunscreens, I tried the Australian Gold Tinted Sunscreen over the weekend and wasn’t a fan unfortunately. It just didn’t lay well on my skin. I will have to give some of the others a try. Have a great week! ☺️

I'm using the Make P:rem UV Defense Me Blue Ray Sun Cream SPF 50+ PA++++ -- it's a mineral (zinc oxide) sunscreen. Goes on invisibly with no white cast and works really well under makeup.

Thanks for this video, Andrea!! I'm testing the Suntegrity 5-in-1 Face Sunscreen (samples available on their site) and so far, I love it. It's 20% non-nano zinc, and comes in 4 shades. It's cruelty free, reef friendly, vegan, no parabens, fragrance free, and has iron oxides. I've been using the Aveeno spf for sensitive skin under, and topping up with Jane Iredale Pressed Mineral Powder, spf 20. Safe to say, I'm covered!

I love the tinted Elta and the Australian gold so much.
I also wore my new coolibar(since you mentioned their quality) Long sleeve UPF shirt at the lake this weekend and love it. Never got hot either. It’s easier than reapplying sunscreen. My husband is now interested in UPF Clothing. I need to buy more. Love your videos! ❤️

I just ordered the colorscience to try. I love the eye cream you recommended from colorscience so hopefully this will be another winner.
I love the EltaMd tinted 41 as well. It matches my skin perfectly and doesn’t bother my eyes which most sunscreens do.
For dark circles, I also use the Etude House tinted cushion concealer which is SPF 35 PA+++. It’s pink vs. the peach colorscience, and there’s a skin color version I recently ordered but haven’t received yet.

which one do you prefer? Colorescience or Elta MD Physical?

  • @tanyas6643
    @tanyas6643 6 лет назад

I like the Paula’s Choice Resist (tinted) sunscreen with SPF30, in the winter months. For summer, I prefer a higher SPF. My favs for that time are the EltaMD you’ve mentioned in this video and the tinted mineral sunscreens by La Riche-Posay or Skinceuticals. --- Another great option is to make your own tinted version, by using a non-tinted mineral sunscreen product and mixing in a drop of the Cover Drops by CoverFX. - I use a shade that’s 2 shades darker than my skintone. The white of the mineral product lightens any colored product you add and using a darker shade helps it not to be too light or require too much colored product... which can make this “experiment “ too expensive and possible looking cakey .

Hi Dr. Dray. Great reviews and info as always! Currently using the Australian gold botanical mixed with the Elta MD. This combination makes the Australian Gold go on better and the Elta MD goes further.

Great video. My favorite tinted sunscreen is the Elta MD SPF 41. The tint works with my skin tone and it lasts so that makes it a good value for me. I want to try the Avene when I finish the Elta MD. The Cetaphil one does not work for me because the tint is too dark. Have a good evening.

Off the topic of sunscreen, lol, but just wanted to tell you I've been eating cauliflower oats every single day for about 3 months now. Half oats, half riced cauliflower, which I hand grate myself. Can't even imagine my oats without it! So thanks!! And Happy Memorial Day to you and your mom and Mr. Tybee!

I don’t like tinted sunscreens. I am fair and they are usually too dark or orange. I would almost wear the sunscreen without a tint. I thought about adding a little bit of foundation with it and see how it works.

I love all your videos and vlogs! Is it necessary and beneficial to wear a water resistant sunscreen when sweating at the gym? I don't always have the opportunity to reapply every two hours and workout in the morning.

I really love the Josie Maran tinted sunblock in spf 47. I've heard from others the tint colour doesn't work well for all skin tones as it is a bit peachy, but it works great for me and is so moisturizing too. I use it as my second layer over my derma e spf 30 and to reapply during the day and LOVE it!

Thank you for this video! For whatever reason, I have been allergic to EVERY sunscreen I have tried and I have tried many. It doesn’t matter if it’s been chemical, physical or combination. My skin, especially the skin on my face does not react well, and will usually result in perioral dermatitis. I think I’m going to try the elta md tinted next. I don’t have my hopes up super high, but it seems across the board to have very positive reviews.
Also, side note, your necklace is GORGEOUS. I love how simplistic it is

Brianna Leary I have very sensitive and reactive skin and I just started using MyChelle tinted sunscreen for the face. It's mineral and not greasy. I think it also has to do with how well you wash it off in the evening. I'm hoping it doesn't cause a reaction. I also like 100% Pure tinted moisturizer. It doesn't cause a bad reaction on me but it's expensive. :(

Xochitl Pardo I’ve been looking into the MyChelle one! It’s also on my lists of things to try. I would agree with you on the removal process but I follow a really strict double cleansing routine and am positive there is nothing left. Thanks for the recommendation!

I’m currently struggling with the same thing. I’ve been using ELTA md clear and it’s been okay so far but I don’t use it daily since I’m dealing with a current PD rash. I hope you find one that works for you
