    Whoops! Please disregard the info. about this sunscreen being reformulated! Apparently the AG sunscreen hasn't been reformulated ... they just changed the way they list the ingredients on the label. Thanks to those viewers who pointed out that on "drug" labels the ingredients can be in alphabetical order rather in concentration order from highest to lowest. It seems that Australian Gold switched from listing the ingredients in alpha. order to concentration order. I learned something new today!

    I love Australian Gold! I was freaking out about the low percentage of zinc oxide and had been trying all kinds of 20% ZO brands that looked bad, broke my face out or were expensive. But I have been reassured by Dr. Dray that the percentage isn’t as important as SPF so I am comfortable going back to the AG. It stays on, has SPF 50. I use it instead of makeup. Yay!

    This is the best recommendation I've ever got. Love that stuff. It's the creamiest lotion ever and it makes my skin looks SO GOOD. It's actually a pleasure to put on. No burning at ALL and my skin is very sensitive. I couldn't wear sunscreen before this stuff because of either the burning from the chemical sunscreens (omg everytime my eyes would be screwed up for hours) or the white cast from the physical ones. Those ingredient changes could ruin it for me though. I guess I'll see. Considering it was perfect before I'm not looking forward to a "change". Amazon is still selling original so I'll probably stockpile a bit.

    Just a side note that Australian Gold is not Australian at all, we Aussies have never heard of it and it's certainly not available locally. It's owned by New Sunshine LLC an American manufacturer of skincare and tanning products. I suppose they're using the association of Australia and the sun. Actual Australian sunscreens are much better formulated than most American sunscreens as we have more stringent testing and products must have both UVA and UVB protection ☀️☀️☀️ Cyrille Laurent on RUclips gives great sunscreen advice and he has videos which will explain this more scientifically 🤓

    • @rachelathome7516
      @rachelathome7516 4 года назад +7

      No Sleep that is false. Sunscreens need to be certified by your equivalent of the FDA here in Australia. We have extremely high standards (and funnily enough a lot of US sunscreens are blocked from sale here as they don’t reach Australian standards).
      Australian Gold has no affiliation with whatsoever with Australia (just like Ugg). The founder is American and has never lived in Australia, nor has his company ever been affiliated in Australia. It’s just a weak attempt at marketing a product using a country’s reputation to boost sales. National appropriation , so to speak.

You would prefer your skin to mask less. So I don’t think the new sunscreens are necessarily best for everyone and like most things it should be left to you what You think you should do to protect yourself. To each their own.

My throat started to burn after about an hour and was bright red an irritated for a week. The skin around the front of my throat and around the collar bone seems to be super sensitive. I read the label and there is fragrance in the spf 70 so, for lack of a better explanation, I am blaming that. Thank you for this review. The new tint range is good to know. I never tried the original, just the new one. I really like it! Incase anyone is disappointed it has changed. I do find the that it gives me a sheer amount of coverage. I’m not sure if that is just because it is now considered a bb cream, or if that was also true for the original. The fair to light can be a little dark and orange on me if I apply to much or reapply during the day. I like to layer it on top of a regular mineral sunscreen that way this one can just take away the white cast of the mineral one. (I don’t wear makeup). By layering I don’t need to use as much of this one so that way i don’t look too dark and orange. Overall I love it and it is definitely the best affordable mineral sunscreen I have used and I definitely recommend it.

    So very happy they came out with different shades, the original tint seemed very dark. I too love the Elta MD the best, but it's certainly more pricey. Thanks for the update Angie!😊

    This has been my perfect sunscreen. I feel it helped reduce oiliness for me and was a perfect base for my foundation. I loved that it did not come off easily. I live in Virginia where it is sunny, humid and hot most months of the year. I ordered a couple extra tubes. I'll store it in the frig. Pretty sad day for me. I wear this every single day.

    Your skin always looks great, but I have to say, today with the new Australian Gold it looks amazingly flawless... and lifted? I think I'll be trying the new tan tinted version... it really gives a nice healthy glow.

    I like the old formula on it's own w/ a light mineral powder foundation but not so much under makeup. Feels so heavy to me w/ foundation on top of it. I'll be interested to try it! I love how you break down the ingredients. So helpful. Thank you!

    Thank you for sharing!! The original is the only SPF I can use in summer that keeps my skin from getting all greasy. I look forward to trying the new formula, especially if it is less drying.

    I love this sunscreen. I mix the light and medium and rarely wear foundation over it! As I get more color during the summer I’ll only have to wear the medium shade. I prefer this to the Elta MD and it’s less than half the price.

    This is probably my favorite face sunscreen in terms of staying power, appearance, and finish. Unfortunately, a day or two after using it, my skin starts peeling like crazy. I don't know what's in there that irritates my face, but something does. It's a real bummer that my skin has gotten so sensitive in my late 50s. I never used to have these issues! Still a great sunscreen, and the only one that I have NEVER gotten an accidental sunburn while using it, even on vacation in Bermuda sightseeing all day.

    I love all three of them. I mix the light and the medium sometimes, or just use them separately other times. Depending on how I want to look.
    I use The Ordinary's resveratrol underneath and they feel better when my skin is especially dry.
    I wouldn't have known of this sunscreen if it wasn't f your videos, so thank you Angie.

    Angie, I tried the original based on your recommendation and I loved it. It does not play well under makeup for me. Way too drying. But if I use a good facial oil first, then the Australian Gold, and do not use a standard foundation. I do love to use the It Cosmetics Celebration Illuminations over it, only where I need more coverage and it is a beautiful combination. I only pray I will like the new formula as well.

    I have a question for anyone reading - has anyone NOT liked this sunscreen? I have dry to normal skin and I really really disliked it. It felt strange on my skin and also reminded me a bit of a primer with heavier silicones or dimethicones. I am not sure. It made my skin look and feel really bad. And, I am just wondering if anyone else had that experience? I am still trying to use it up by applying it on my arms. I will give it another shot this week though - try it one more time. Other than that, if anyone is in need of an incredible mineral sunscreen for dry skin, I recommend Cotz Sensitive SPF 40 - the formula is really beautiful.

    The first sunscreen I bought, Etude House Mild Airy Finish, was because of Angie. Now, I have been forever afraid to try Australian Gold but I might try it because of Angie. She's so persuasive! I hope the dimethicone in it does not break me out.

    Thanks, Angie! The original tone was perfect for my complexion. I live in Italy and can only buy online so can't swatch... If you were to do half your face with original and half with the new tone, which would be more similare all in all? (I know that next to each other in th swatch the light looks more like the original but maybe an overall effect looks different.) Could you please let me know? thank you so much for your videos, always informative and fun! xxx

    As always this was a very informative video and this has been a favorite sunscreen of mine for years because of you! I am happy to see they've expanded their shade range. Apparently when there are active ingredients listed the other ingredients don't need to be listed in the order of highest quantity, but rather they can be listed alphabetically which is frustrating. It seems with the new formulation they didn't do that.

    • @AngieHotandFlashy
      @AngieHotandFlashy 4 года назад +2

      I see what you mean. It looks like this wasn't reformulated at all but that they had the ingredients listed alphabetically on the old bottle and now they've gone to the standard listing of highest quantity first down to 1%...

    • @alliemoo7777
      @alliemoo7777 4 года назад

      @@AngieHotandFlashy When I first learned about this I was very frustrated because it essentially gives companies that use active ingredients a way to be dishonest about the quantities of the ingredients. Which means if an irritating ingredient is listed, we won't really know how much is in it sadly.

    I think the med to tan or combination of the two looks great on you Angie. I couldn’t find Australian Gold at Walmart, so I bought CeraVe hydrating tinted SPF 30, which has a heavy feel and stays moist on my face even after applying a loose finishing powder. It’s hot and humid in Texas right now and this isn’t the look I’m going for ! My 65 yr-old skin is normal/combo in summer and dry in winter-this might be better on my dry skin. I prefer Paula’s Choice Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense SPF 30 in the summer, it feels light and has a matte finish. I do want to try Elta MD.
