The more I hear of Peter Wang, the more obvious it becomes that this young man was a literal angel on earth. Kind, generous, inclusive, loving, genuine. Of course he died a hero. 💔

I'm proud of him for speaking for his father. That was the most difficult, impactful statement of them all. It affected everyone. Even the guard at the back of the courtroom was wiping away tears.
Me too my heart breaks with every parent , friend , spouse but he just took my breath away especially as a mum of a learning disabled kiddo. Cruz has taken so much light away from this world

When Cori came out looking so handsome with his tuxedo on I fell apart. What a sweet young man he must be. His Dad is looking down from heaven smiling, actually beaming with pride at his boy. It breaks my heart to hear all of these impact statements and to see the horrific pain these poor people have to endure day in and day out. You can tell Peter Wang’s mom has been taking this especially hard. As a Chinese American, to lose your son right before Chinese New Year is awful because it is the most important holiday culturally. You could never even celebrate it anymore..

I remember seeing her being held up by family members at his funeral. This has truly broken her. I hope Cruz saw her looking straight into his soul, even though he doesn't have one.

As I have watched and listened to all who have testified I am overwhelmed with pain and tears! I do not know any of these poor victims or their families/friends. But my heart breaks for all of them! The fact that this murderer can sit there with NO REMORSE is unbelievable!!! He has no soul! 4 years is too long for these families to see justice.

People that say they are full of 'heartbreak' or 'crying for days' etc. over this really puzzles me. You know 39 people are murdered with firearms every day? More than 14,000 a year. More than 1500 of those are children. But for whatever reason, THIS upsets you more than the other 1483 children murdered.

Let me add that I understand where you're coming from...but no your justice system doesn't suck. What sucks is in New Zealand someone can murder a baby and they get 10 years out in 8 with parole. I wish our sentencing was much harsher in our country.
17 families were impacted, there is tons of witnesses, evidence, etc. ofc it’s going to take 2 weeks to present all the information needed to decide whether cruz gets life or death.

I was in a double murder trial back in 2017 and seeing such evidence still troubles my mind to this day and will probably live with me forever… I can’t even begin to imagine what these jurors are having to endure! 😭

The way the families embrace eachother is just so moving. Their hugs seem so meaningful they're all incredible.
Very few people would understand what they are going through. It must be a huge comfort to know they are not alone.
Because of this horrific tragedy, the parents and families of the victims have become closer. Now they are family for each other. One big family.

This is a death penalty case. Every victim deserves a statement.
The only thing these victims have left is this opportunity to make a statement. Let them have at least that. Yes, it's ridiculous, but at least I now recognize WHY he pled GUILTY. He made videos about and Googled topics related to becoming famous as the next school shooter of 2018.

The psychological impact that this two week recess will have on the families and jurors is unimaginable. To hear and see the horrific testimony over the last two weeks, including a visit to the crime seen this AM and then be told that they cannot speak to ANYONE for two weeks is heartbreaking. Though I understand the reasoning behind it, we should be considering the trauma impacts that this will have and try to mitigate those instead of solely focusing on due process.

This is heart breaking. Even some of the defense team is crying. I know they have procedures when it is a crime like this. Really I don't think they have a defense or good defense. Why is it taking so long? Putting those parents through all that again.

They are mentally not the age they are and I feel it's gotta be so hard to explain to them what happened and how it is or has to be and than explain a killer and how or why they would do something and how it couldn't be prevented...... I have been always opposed to the death penalty, most of all because the chance of innocents beign executed. But in this instance for the first time in my life i think death would be the best punishment.

i just watched a segment where the news reporter got to walk through the school.. very interesting and gruesome.. she said there was still glass on the floors, bullet holes in the glass, you can see where there was dried blood, i couldnt walk through and see that. 😥

Allowing for a two week recess to an unsequestered jury is handing the defense a mistrial. What a travesty for these families who have to go through this heartache over and over.

Jury on recess until 8/22/2022. The judge is probably making a mistake by not sequestering the jury. That's a awfully long time to entrust faith and trust in a jury in such a high profile case. The jury definitely needs to to sequestered.

They are allowed to go home every night and weekends so suddenly sequestering them when trial is on break doesn't make sense.

This has to be the most heartbreaking thing I've ever witnessed..The Strength and Character of these parents, siblings,family members and friends is unbelievable and hearing the descriptions of each victim, it is easy to see that they were each as uniquely amazing as the ones who raised them.I do not believe the one who murdered them should be allowed to be in the room during these testimonies...To know he actually enjoys watching families suffer is disgusting and he has no business witnessing the unbearable pain he has caused.The Death Penalty is truly the only legit verdict for this case..This person wanted to be famous for his massacre..He will be nothing more than an afterthought, a statistic,the very second his life ends...The same is not true for these innocent kids..they will be remembered for so many wonderful things they brought to the lives they touched..This I believe to my core❤❤

I believe he should suffer in prison the rest of his life. Because prisoners won't be kind to him. He'll suffer more alive. His life ending also means a permanent suffering in hell. Too bad he can't seek spiritual help for his sins.

You’re absolutely right. However someone like Cruz may relish and enjoy the crime scene. He has not shown any remorse or sorrow, and in his arrest interrogation video he can be seen motioning as though he is holding a gun and reliving the massacre.
Going back to the scene of the crime would only allow him to further enjoy the pain that he has inflicted upon those families and victims.
The only reason he “chose” not to go was to make it look like it would be too much for him. When in reality he would enjoy it. His decision not to go was merely a ploy to trick the jury into thinking he couldn’t stand to see the damage. He’d love it.

No he should NOT be at the crime scene are you kidding? that would be so painful for the families to know that. Its bad enough he got to see the actual surveillance video of him doing the shooting on each floor along with the crime scene photos and autopsies. Him going into the scene will not upset him in the slightest. No matter what he is not going to be made an example of. This trial is not going to stop shootings nor deter shooters. Until everyone wakes the F up and starts looking at the REAL issues which is mental health, access to high powered weapons and the very dark disturbing things that these young males see and are a part of on the internet things will not change. Why would the judge broadcast the victim's son's driver's license number? She could have verified his identity privately before the zoom went live.
Yes. In a case like this even small things matter so much when they are affecting the victims families. A more experienced Judge would be ideal in this case, by way of respect. The judge was actually asked to withdraw from the case by the defence but she refused.

The state requested a week off during the penalty phase and the defense wasn't able to complete the necessary psychological exam of cruz due to the expert not being available and had to look for a new in which they wanted to actually delay the penalty phase and the judge said they should have had enough time however the state had already made the court aware that they needed a week of for something so that time they can get the exam done and gave them a couple more days before presenting the defense side
Was shocked that Helena’s mum is English not American. Imagine moving there and that happening 😭☹️☹️. How come she moved to the US?

Mr. Cruz, if I could talk to you, I would like to know why???? Why did you take the lives of 17 people if you felt bad? I was also made fun of because I was always overweight, never had many friends but always got by. I had frustration but never violence in me. I also don't understand why someone like you, who was about to receive a substantial inheritance with a large sum, decides to take the lives of other young people and adults. You could have had a quiet life with your $800,000. You have taken 17 lives, ruined 17 families for eternity, injured 17 other people and don't forget that you are your own victim too, the 18th. Think about that Mr. Cruz. Peace to all the angels who left this world on February 14, 2018.

For one, he was adopted and both of his parents are deceased. His father died in 2004 and his mother in 2017 (Nov.). The mom had issues with him that have been documented. However, there should have been consequences for his violent and hatefulness that was present before this horrendous crime took place. There was so much evidence in the court that showed he was planing this, but no one reported it. Overall, parents really need to know what their children are doing, even if they’re having a difficult time with them.
The school as well should have done more imo as well and the many tips the fbi ignored that ppl had called in. It was more than the parents that failed these victims imo, but it's just my opinion which means nothing nonetheless lol.
