the point, though, is that it's not good enough to be doing good deeds, your motivations have to be clean, too, otherwise your dark impulses will lead you down a slippery slope into deeds that are wrong. this is the depiction of a gradual slide into darkness, which starts by doing things that can be justified, rationalized away. in this case peter was acting out of a sadistic impulse to make brock suffer, not merely out of a noble impulse to expose the truth. had he been acting from pure motives he would have exposed brock privately and tried to organize some intervention for him, probably by trying to get jameson to save his job. because he acted out of vengeance he prompted brock's own vengeance against him. remember, revenge is a vice, even if our culture often pushes it as a virtue, and what ye sow, ye may also reap.
@@scottmatheson3346 Honestly, it's less revenge and more Peter being genuinely angry enough to oust Brock in public. Without the suit, he would just be less smarmy about it. Brock did something extremely slimey and underhanded by ruining a public image Peter worked so hard to make positive, so it's fitting that someone who revels in such publicity be brought down by being ousted for what he did.
And honestly speaking, if more of these things were brought to light rather than done discreetly behind curtains, people would probably think twice before resorting to such means.

Another thing you can see here is that in the newspaper "Faker Fired", Jameson actually apologises to the public and even Spider-Man for Eddie's bs regarding Spider-Man. The Daily Bugle has built a reputation of printing the truth in it's papers, Jameson prides himself on it. Then Eddie Brock comes in and drags it through the mud. Jameson is more then just mad, he's about to explode.
It’s very at core to his character and a lot of the comics show it. JJJ is done best when the writers make him a righteous and passionate, if overzealous, man that has legitimate concerns about Spiderman that are reasonable for someone to have if they lived in that world, didn’t know they’re in a comic book, and didn’t know that Spiderman is the good man that we as readers know Peter to be.
Even though Peter is possessed by evil incarnate that’s supposed to exacerbate the host’s rage and aggression, you can clearly see just how good a person at heart he is. Everything he does in this scene is entirely reasonable and justified. Also, “I’m gonna put some dirt in your eye” is just hilarious. I’d argue everything he does, up until he starts dancing in that idiotic suit, is actually healthy. He just chooses to grow a spine and it actually improves his life. He clears Spider-Man’s name, gets Eddie deservedly tossed out on his ass, calls Jameson’s bluff and actually starts extracting a decent salary, makes it clear that he’s finally done being Harry’s punching bag, and withholds rent from his landlord (an entirely legal action given his landlord’s consistent failure to fix the door). In other words, growing a spine was healthy for him and I was genuinely on his side here.

He had talent, he was able to take a photo of Spider-Man before, that is why he was at the Daily Bugle in the first place. And yes, Spider-Man crashed his camera, but then write about that! Or get a new camera and try again from a safer distance! He had talent and wasted it on cheating. So, no - I have no sympathy for Eddie here.
Also I really love JJJs reaction here. Normally he is an angry blood-boiling asshole but this time... it was (in comparison to his former behaviour) calm. Angry, yes, but calm. Not his typical "YOU'RE FIRED!", a calm "Pack your things".

He faked those pictures of Spider Man and tried to pass the fraudulent photos off as legit ones. Parker didn't want Spider Man's name dragged through the mud and exposed Eddie for the fraud he is which causes him to get fired. At the end of the day he only has himself to blame. Jameson may be a hardass...but he is a stickler for the truth when it comes to his company's integrity being compromised.

One of the most underrated moments of this scene is that Jonah is so furious with Eddie’s forged photos that the force he slams them onto his desk is loud AND fast enough to sound like the crack of a whip. He was _irate_ in that moment and yet in the next we he was able to level himself to tell Brock he was fired.
I loved that scene. It was so realistic, and it seemed JJ was also embarrassed, like “I can’t believe I hired this guy and was fooled by him.”

JJJ had told many people theyre fired but they always show up for work the next day because they know hes just angry at them and doesnt mean it. This one however was the most serious and sincere one.

@@professionalgamer6522 Peter is all for fair play, but he tends to let people walk all over him. As Spiderman, exposing Eddie is an act of self defense. But as Peter Parker, exposing Eddie is him going out of his way to eliminate the competition. He could say he's doing it to protect Spiderman, but he's never tried to protect his image before, aside from halfhearted attempts to change Jonah's mind. And even then, Peter admitted in the previous movie that the Daily Bugle ran Spiderman out of the public eyes due to the libel. Peter isn't above letting Jonah try to ruin Spiderman's image.
So I think Spiderman would expose Eddie, and probably insult Jonah for letting it happen. Kill two birds with one stone.
This is the best Spider-Man movie in the trilogy in my opinion. I also was surprised of how pissed J Jonah Jameson was when he discovered the forgery, even though he truly despises Spider-Man. Even someone like JJJ has boundaries that include the protection of his company even if it means defending Spidey. Eddie deserved that humiliation

I love how this trilogy portrays Jameson. He is a snarky jerk, but he's very honest about his work and has a lot of dignity. Here he is given a chance to incriminate Spider-Man but refuses because he wants genuine evidence.
He may hate Spider-Man, but he’d never go against what the bugle stands for and print lies, even if it means making his arch enemy look bad

He calls it like he sees it. The way he interprets spider man in 2 he's doing something bad whereas in 3 he has proof that he did no bad thing
I like the idea that JJ was so on board for smearing Spidey's public image with the photo, but he also wanted to do it legitimately. Finding out the photo was a fake spoiled the whole experience for him. He didn't want anyone else to lie about Spider-Man being bad, only he gets the privilege.
What's never acknowledged is that Peter was absolutely correct here. Eddie was a con-artist and Peter called him on it.
He was abrasive about it, but he was entirely right to expose Eddie.
The moment Peter snapped was the moment that Eddie responded by attempting to twist the situation back onto Peter when he made a fake of Peter's work.

Peter wasn’t “evil”. Symbiote just realized his inner emotions, the one he suppressed. He always allowed people to walk over him, even though he deserved better. With the symbiosis he got his inner anger out, taking and getting what he actually wanted

What I love about JJJ is you can tell he's genuinely angry. His over the top shouting and insults are just his personality and him pushing his employees to do better. But here he calmly says "Pack your things and get out" then raises his voice slightly to tell Brock he's fired. He doesn't make a witty joke or insult, just straight up says "leave". I find that more intimidating than his usual shouting
