Bully maguire: you should've thought of that earlier
“I fail to see how that is my problem” 😜
Stings doesn't it?
Now dig on this!
@@collegebro85 "I missed the part where that's my problem" is the correct way.
But I've always like this dorky Tobey Maguire.
The think is people didn't get it Peter is socially awkward and now he is evil but still awkward so these scenes are perfect
Say that to people from 2007. They would never understand
Exactly. The symbiote has emancipated Peter - this is his idea of 'cool' 😂
@@justapersonwithtrauma2947 I got it back then, but it just felt like they took the amazing "raindrops" scene from Spider-Man 2 and went too far trying to make lightning strike twice... Now it's ironically and unironically iconic, but back then it was just confusing lol.
@@justapersonwithtrauma2947 lol I'm pretty sure the 2007 people enjoys the scenes more than now do to weirdos thinking that it's ok to make parker some kind of Tony stark's side kick like tf?
He wasn't evil. That's another misconception. His emotional inhibitors were slowly being overshadowed by the symbiote. Basically, because it was attached to Peter, he leaned more towards his more primal human nature. He's still a dork, but he's now a dork who doesn't care about what other people think as far as his dorkiness. He's basically showing his ass this whole montage.
You have to admire that Tobey actually went out in front of other human beings to act this out.
Although, if he did it today, he'd have a swarm of fans to applaud.
That's the best part of being an actor. Getting to behave like a buffoon and get paid for it!

The symbiote doesn’t make him cool, it just gives him the confidence and the impression that he is cool. Now this is literally the meme epitome of cool.
I Mean IT IS Cool.
it brings out a persons darker emotions. makes them more aggressive and more primal in their instincts.
My interpretation of it was that the suit didn't give him any physical power, it's true power was making him not care about anyone else anymore. He hid his identity to protect the ones he loves, he holds back because he doesn't want to kill the villians. The Symbiote gave him the ability to numb himself to that pain and just do what he wants to do. Does he look stupid dancing like that? Yes, does he care what they think? No, he's going to do it anyway.
@@dan7564 the symbiote does give him physical power, other wise Eddie wouldn’t have Spider-Man’s power.
@@jiaqili7238 i think the symbiote gave Eddie Powers because It bonded with Peter and copied spiderman's powers thats why of It had bonded with a human First It wouldnt have had those powers
People complain about it being cringey, but it's supposed to be cringey.
Exactly lol
@Jessica Lynn well yea but the point of the edgy Peter isn't supposed to be "oh look at how strange he is now" the suit gives him confidence and this is what a confident Peter would look like during his depressed times.
I think it's not cringe, so I'm based
It's coolgey
At first it seems intentionally cringey, but then the movie stops treating it as cringey.

Yes I am slightly disappointed.
Yes
Yeah this was just him reacting to his scenes.

@@basedbattledroid3507 k
Agreed
I remember watching this in theaters and the whole audience just busted out laughing at this dance so idk why some people hate it because it really just shows how the venom symbiote made Peter into someone who didn't give a fuck what people thought about him
EVERYONE SHOULD BE LIKE THIS! :)))
Oh I remember me and my friends did that dance moves after we watched the movie. Ik it's cringe, but it was fun back then.
*shake* 2:58
*Not in the cinema btw, not so many ppl when we did that, not that cringe, not yet...
I think the point of this scene is supposed to make us cringe but at the same time brought out Peter's confident, he's awkward and dorky but that's totally fine and he's confident about it. They showed how ppl reacted, some find him weird but some is intrigued but it doesn't matter to Peter. And that's what makes him interesting and attractive, being confident.
Well stated!
As much as I can understand why long-time fans might have been unhappy with this characterization (as from what I've seen/heard the Venom comics tend to be more dark and serious in tone) I thinks it's great, and something only Raimi could come up with. Whilst you could definitely have a universe where Peter genuinely becomes a dark, brooding, misanthropic person once he dons the symbiote, this character simultaneously comes completely out of left-field, yet makes total sense! Peter was a nerd, a total dork; this is what most dorks would act like if all of their self-consciousness and anxiety was taken away. He thinks he's really cool, but (even though some people agree) most people just think he's an annoying, narcissistic goofball.
As much as I dislike Brock's characterization in this film, I think it's a nice contrast to show you what a *truly* vindictive and narcissistic person would be like if given the power to do whatever they wanted and had their inhibitions removed. By comparison, Bully Maguire seems like a goofy (if dickish) puppy dog compared to someone who actually had deep, malevolent tendencies hidden beneath the surface.

I got it and I was 10. Still cringe as fuckkkkkk
I said it in another comment but my theory was always that the symbiote had an aura which effected those around you making you appear more attractive or charismatic than you actually are. Which would explain why a lot of people in the movie thought bully Maguire is the coolest guy ever despite him acting like a complete clown for the whole time.
Also, it helps to be familiar with Sam Raimi, who in all of his films plays everything completely straight. It's a joke for the audience but the characters take it seriously. He doesn't have a wink moment at the camera so the audience understands it's in jest. But because it doesn't have that moment, it can sometimes fly over people's heads.

I missed the part where that's my problem
Because you never check the bonus features?
Awww I was expecting this to be Tobey actually reacting to the hilarious fan made “Bully Maguire” clips.
Now we want Tobey react to his Bully maguire memes
It clearly shows they know it was goofy and meant to be comedic. It’s by no means a fail, it’s genius.
The way the women react to him in the street is the dead giveaway, i don't get how people thought this was serious.
I think the issue is people wanted Peter to be like, really tormented and dark with the symbiote. Nobody predicted he'd be this weird campy goofball jerk. But the world is better for it.
@@zach6800 from what I’ve seen, women like when men are like that. It’s strange but true
@@zach6800 I think it was too effective at being cringe in universe that it was cringe out of universe.
Also, the scene is meant to be a contrast to the also corny "raindrops" scene in 2. I don't know man, I was like 13 when this film came out, and my siblings and I all knew that this scene was comedic. We laughed our asses off. But then it became really cool to hate this movie, so I kind of kept my opinion to myself. It didn't help that Batman Begins came out a couple of years before it and that TDK changed everything for a good 7 years before superhero films could get goofy again (GOTG). I'll always have a soft spot for this film.
James Franco telling Tobey that "there's a geek flair to it but you actually have some moves" was a wholesome moment. Like Harry being a bro to Peter in real life.
What does geek flair exactly mean
Right as I started reading this the video became sync with James saying that lmao
@@omercanakin A geek flair
Still got the moves
Not an accident.
Loved this part of the movie I was cracking up the entire time, so good!
I didn’t realize how effortlessly funny Tobi is he had me dying at the end of the this
bruh I thought he was gonna react to the actual memes lol
Same Matt From Wii Sports, but this is good too
Same here
Same, atleast this isn’t fake
This is kinda better lol he reacted to the actual cheesy, entertaining scenes rather than the dry memes (i like them, but the actual movie scenes are better), and this was more than 10 years ago, so it's neat to see that they saw it as a meme long before anyone else did
@@theonetypingthis7186 the memes are art!
Thank you so much for posting this. I had no idea this existed. It’s really interesting to see how their take on it from before it became a meme is similar to how we all see Bully Maguire now.
Hey matan!
I think I should look at dvd commentaries more often.
