    "For $1200 what do you expect?"
    I don't know, the paint not to fucking chip off for no apparent reason would be nice.

    Great video, Justin. very informative, and I appreciate your honest opinions on these wheels. I am buying a set of these for my new Lotus Evora for the track in a staggered (slightly smaller) size (18-19”) with Michelin Pilot SS’s. I’ve run cast wheels on the track before, and can’t notice a difference between the $1500/each forged OEM wheels in 19-20” sizes and smaller (much, much cheaper) cast wheels. Thanks again for the informative video!

    Hi Justin, wondering if you can share the specs of the tires you mounted on those wheels, did you went with stock 225 40 front and 255 35 rear? or you went wider? thanks in advance! I'm looking in getting the same staggered setup, but would love to go wider...

    I've just fitted a similar set of staggered 19" CSL replica wheels in matt grey with the aggressive ET35 front offset - with the state of the roads here in the UK, probably won't be long till they end up battered and bruised! Your set actually looks in great condition for 2 years use as a DD. After 2 years in the UK driving, even forged wheels would end up looking like minecraft blocks ;)

    Damn tough luck on the paint chipping off. I had my V710's in gunmetal for about 5 years now and no paint chips or discoloration at all. However, mine are powder coated and this was standard for these wheels back then but, I guess that is a luxury now for VMR. The powder coat is insanely good, I would highly recommend it. Plus, these wheels are lighter than my stock E46 wheels.

Also I have pretty much brand new 225/40/R18 tyres on the front and 255/30/R18 on the rear, will these go with the 18x8.5 front wheels and 18x9.5 rear wheels?

    What measurements do you drive on your e90? I mean rim width, offset, what tire width and height and do you have spacers on? I just ordered Wheels for my e90 here in germany and i am kinda curious if i need spacers and how the "fitment" with the fender is then. I really like your videos because i also daily drive a '05 E90. Keep up the good work :)

    Hi Justin. Realize this is a 5 year old video. One of the reasons you replaced these was the weight of cast 710s. I am looking at the 710ff flow formed in matt graphite as they will look good with my gray F30. Now I am replacing 437m wheels as I am tired of the poke and want flush. So …. Any thoughts 5 years later 710ff flow formed? Appreciate comments.

    The clear coat on those wheels and other in that range of price contains a hardner so it can dry super fast when they paint them. That means more rims to paint in the same amount of time that a "pro" paint would dry in optimum conditions. So yeah, being a super fast dry paint/clear coat it does not stick in all rim pores so it is like and hard transparent overlayer(not that flexible). You'll see on most aftermarket afordable rim brands that after a year the clearcoat starts to exfoliate...at first i tought that it has a plastic protection over it but i did some online research and that is what i found out about that paint. Cheers!

    My first Scion 2004 xb had rims that bubbled and flaked. I think this was due to a combination of road salt exposure and the sea air. I live in a beach town in NY. I was also cleaning them with a stronger product than I should have. I recommend AMMO plum wheel cleaner. It seems to get the job done without being too harsh on the clear.

    @DakaariDenton 7 лет назад

    Hey man . Did you have to attach a tpms sensor to the rim before you mounted it . And if you how did you get it to sync with your car so it doesn't throw a tire pressure code

    • @justinbuice
      @justinbuice  7 лет назад +1

      +Dakaari Denton my car has the older style tire pressure monitoring that uses the ABS to detect a flat, so there is no sensor in the wheel itself. I think 2010 is when they switched to sensors in the wheel

    • @sarcastixx74
      @sarcastixx74 6 лет назад

      The wheel speed sensor is what is used to determine a difference in tyre pressure. As soon as it sees a noticeable difference in a wheels speed in comparison to the others, it will throw a dash light.

      Just for aesthetics. I've read that a square setup is recommended, but I've put over 45,000 miles on these wheels without issues. The most important thing is that the rolling circumference is the same on both front and rear, so it shouldn't be putting too much stress on the transfer case.

  • @010FSL101
    @010FSL101 7 лет назад

    if the same material was used for two different wheels the forged would be heavy compared to the case wouldn't it? because forged will be more dense. These wheels might be some other material and most forged wheels are aluminum so that's why forged is lighter compared to cast iron or something. I haven't done any research on this so i might be wrong but this makes sense to me.

      +010FSL101 comparing two aluminum wheels, one forged and one cast, the forged is more dense, so they are able to shed weight by making the spokes thinner and shaving material off the hub and other parts of the wheel. Thats why if you are looking at two wheels with the same design, the spokes on the cast wheel are usually chunkier to compensate for strength

      For example, if you look at these two wheels, the cast VMR and the forged BBS, the BBS wheel has much thinner spokes which are hollowed out on the sides. Also the VMR wheel has a really chunky hub that uses much more material than the hub on the BBS.

      that makes sense, hollowing out the spokes and the hub... Thanks for explaining

    So what kind of wheels are those??

    Dont the staggered wheels hurt your transmission? I thought the AWD system wouldve better enjoyed having 18x 8.5 all around rather than a staggered look...

      You can have staggared wheels as long as the rolling diameter with the tires mounted is the same front and rear. They can be within 1% of each other. There are tire calculator websites to help you see what will work safely

      @@justinbuice Ok thanks for the info, funny thing is im actually getting the same car as you so to that im guessing your setup works fine? Id like to run a similar look (Maybe a less pronounced rear though)
