I really appreciate your videos. Always good advice, especially since I just bought my first Bimmer. One clarification for your viewers related to the torque wrench; you can over-torque a bolt if you don’t know how to use the wrench properly. As soon as it clicks/snaps, stop applying pressure. If you continue to apply pressure, the wrench will not stop applying force on the bolt. The click/snap is an indicator telling you to stop, not a disconnect that stops the pressure you’re applying.
Aww man you know your stuff!! All your videos are so helpful. I have gained confidence with BMW 330xi. It also has made me more aware of repairs and quick fixes.
Good list! More on the detailing side of things, but I always keep some quick detailer and clean microfiber cloth in the trunk to wipe anything potentially damaging off my paint as soon as I see it! (bird poop, tree sap, etc.)
Your channel is blowing up man! I think all BMW owners should have at least several 10mm, 13mm and 17mm sockets. Most used, lose them all the time. Especially that 13mm
I always keep a bottle of premixed coolant, motor oil, waterless wash and some microfiber cloths. I have an emergency kit that includes flares, candles, drinking water, reflector vest, jumper cables, battery charging jump module and some first aid stuff. I also have a can of tire inflator/ puncture seal. One in the emergency kit and one factory M kit that came with my M3. I also have all the factory tools that come with the car, including the wheel lock key. Keeping a breaker bar is a good idea... but my torque wrench is a digi, and a little expensive, so I don't want it slamming against the walls of my trunk every time I change direction hard. I also have roadside assistance... which us pretty convenient when you have an emergency. I've used it, I know! I lost a lot of my tools recently. Some dip shit came into my condo building's underground garage and found my tool chest which I keep in my parking spaces and somehow was able to carry the damn thing up and out without getting picked up by the cameras. There's a guy a few spots over from me, he has a track bike that's he's often tinkering with... I noticed all his tools are gone too.
crazythedon Yeah, I an still amazes that someone was able to get in unnoticed and out, still unnoticed, with a tool chest the size of a full size luggage case. Scumbags is right! I took my breaker bar and went looking for someone holding a screw driver or staple gun to beat down.... but no luck!
Dan Stanford well the emergency kit is all in one small canvas bag. The factory M tire seal/ inflator is in its compartment, under the trunk floor. The only thing you can see is small bag a 1L bottle of BMW oil and a bottle of coolant on one side of the trunk and the waterless wash and microfiber cloths in their own bag, on the other side. Factory issue, BMW tools have their spot too, they snap into place. I don't think that's a lot. Come to think of it I don't even need to add a breaker bar, or sockets in the car; there's no spare tire! Lol, E90 M3 comes with inflate and seal kit instead of a spare.
in my e92 i currently have a space saver tyre in the boot ( i ditched the run flats) a telescopic wrench and 3widow maker jack under the boot floor. i have an air compressor, tyre foam and and tyre strip kit. a few basic tools such as screwdrivers. i also have 1 carly adaptor that floats between my e92 and the wifes e60. the e60 thankfully came with a spare saver, wrench and jack already under the boot floor. there's also a bottle of spare oil + coolant and a tyre compressor. both cars have tool kits which i have supplemented and updated. even on long trips i dont carry spare parts or specific tools, but for the e9x guys that have ditched the run flats i would consider a spare, you may be stuck somewhere with a blow out and a flat phone battery
Im an e90 owner and a chrysler tech. I like doing alot of sidework so i actually use my car to dump my tools. One time i was driving when the car started overheating. I was able to drive to a autozone, buy a water pump, and replace it On the spot
Lyubomir, if you do some dirt-rock-road-driving you might crack the plastic tranny-pan. I did that, and fixed it. I drive it 10 miles or so, low on transmission fluid. I'm lucky I didn't toast it. Going off road with the 325I, and 2 or 3 inches lower than a 'regular' car changes things.
Good idea! I just keep the notes in my phone of what I'm replacing, the date and the mileage. But keeping a written record would be good to for the next owner.
I have to carry a Tyre inflation kit and sealer as there is no spare wheel with my 5 series touring . Long trips in france from Ireland it’s a must carry as well as bulbs , the French police give fines for lights that are out
It's NOT a COIL PACK!!!! It's an individual coil. A coil PACK is a group of coils packed together. The BMW uses coil-on-plug; or COP. Otherwise I really enjoy your videos. Subscribed!!
I disagree on the torque wrench needing to be in the car. Chances are you aren’t doing any thing extensive on the side of the road. If you are changing a tire and are not a complete idiot, you will be fine if you go to get a repair or new tire shortly after. They will torque it to the proper specs. If it’s a newer bmw you are screwed because they have no spares, I believe some have fix it flat though. Torque wrench at home with your tools you most definitely should have one. Your videos are good, just my 2 cents on the torque wrench.
sublimegabe agreed, if you need a torque wrench then you need aluminum fasteners too, those are the only fasteners that are easy to over torque and break, and even with a torque wrench you are likely to break those that have been reused
I just bought my first BMW 325i, it has been a dream of mine to own one, I got it at an auction. I would like to know what a coil pack is and what it's used for on the car. Do you have a video on that as I'd like to watch it.
it's the part that sends electricity to the spark plug. If one goes out, you will have a misfire on that cylinder. Here is a video I made on how to replace them. ruclips.net/video/yMwKLljhfTE/видео.html
i always keep an electronic tire pump w lcd display tells you the exact tire pressure to the tenth decimal place it has saved me on numerous occasions, it’s small and inexpensive
yeah, not surprised foam and wash was frozen. My friend washed his car and was to lazy to dry it, later it took him 25 minutes to open his frozen door lmao.
had to change a coil pack last week at 3 degrees F. Amazon prime $25.00. I am Usine a generic OBD2, is it worth the extra for th Carley? Doing a great job on the videos!
Duncan Lee dude my coil on cylinder 5 went out last week.Replaced it and it was all gravy.I let me boss drive it today and it's missing again.Fuhh! Atleast I get paid tomorrow and will buy all new plugs and coils
can't agree more--I would have made engine coolant + purified water AND some spare oil as one of the 5 must haves... ...had a scary moment the other day when the "oil level too low" light/warning flipped on. how badly I wished I had an extra litre in the trunk to immediately stop driving and remedy the situation. The following 6 minute drive to Advanced Auto felt like an eternity. --Funny thing, then the warning extinguished on its own, about 2 mins before arriving to advanced auto....talk about a false alarm. still added 1 qt...any one else ever had a similar experience in their e90 gen? ('09 e93 335i)

FYI I snapped a rod bolt off my M3 because I had a cheap harbor freight crappy torque wrench that would not click when it should and it went past the pound setting. So my advice is by a good torque wrench not a Chinese junk piece of crap. By the way I was able to get bolt pulled out of the Rod
Hay man..awsum channel...but I just have a plain Jane bmw e 90 320i...so i got a problem...so every time I get in and out of my car these this squeaky noise. .I was thinking it's the springs but now 100% sure... any idea ?

Hey Justin. Thank you for all of your great videos. I just replaced my run flats on my 2015 650 Gran Coupe xdrive with all season tires. I also purchased a full size rim/tire from tire rack for a spare which is now in the trunk. Where would you recommend I buy a lug nut wrench and jack for my car? I am having difficulty finding them. Thank you.
Hey Justin. Can the Carley app register a new battery? If it can I will be buying one off of your amazon link. Even if I have to go back and rewatch an older video!
Yes, but it is an additional $9.99 fee to unlock battery registration on top of the cost of the app. Might be worth it though if you can avoid a trip to the dealer. Plus you get coding and all of the other features.
I own a 2008 328xi. It has 120k miles and i’ve had it for 6 years. It needs new struts(front), should i invest in it? Is it worth it? If so, aside from the struts, what other parts aftermarket(not bmw) do i need or should i buy and where?i am not doing it myself, just buying parts. Other than need to change ign coils, the car runs fine.
I would replace both the front and the rear, just to be safe (unless you have done the rear recently.) I have Bilstein shocks and struts on my car and they are great. Check www.fcpeuro.com for other options, they might have some that are more affordable, plus all of their parts have a lifetime guarantee - even wear and tear items like struts.
Justin Buice i was told to replace strut mounts and many other bushings and rubbers that are part of the strut whole assembly, is that true? ( yes rear was done 6 months ago)
I replaced all 6 of my spark plugs and 1 bad coil last year but now my car has been rough idling and I'm planning on changing the other 5 coils. I don't think I have to change the spark plugs do i? They're only 1 year old. Thanks
I dont think that would be the issue, how many miles do you have? A few years ago, i also replaced 1 bad coil and 1 spark plug and it ran fine after that
Justin Buice www.walmart.com/ip/Tagital-Portable-Mini-Slim-20000mAh-Car-Jump-Starter-Engine-Battery-Charger-Power-Bank/357080475 not sure if you have yet, but I've had success w/this one...powers my cars overnight security cameras(vandalism issue), but I've also jumped multiple vehicles as well...comes with everything needed in a case.
Hey Im thinking of buying an 06 330xi like yours, its got 129k miles on it. What are the things I should look for and what do you recommend I but for it first? Thanks.
I need all these..btw can the Carly code a new battery ? Recently I swapped batteries but I think it's a different amp and doesn't feel synced like the old battery that died.. thanks
You can use Carly to register a new battery , but it’s an additional fee to unlock (i think $10) on top of the cost of the app. Its a little pricey, but still cheaper than the dealership
I keep it in the compartment that lifts up in the trunk. I have the small stuff in a plastic bag. I never really hear it moving around unless I go over train tracks
I looked my VIN up to see what equipment my E90 320i Executive was fitted with, and the rain sensor for the wipers is apparently there but doesn't seem to work, it doesn't show a fault code on Torque. Could this be a codding issue?
Did you turn it on? Mine can toggle on and off with a button on the top of the wiper mode selector. I know it’s basic but should be the first thing to check and look for.
You also need some blinker fluid in your bmw... just in case
Abdul Rashid can't leave home with out it.
BMW cars don't have blinkers though....
It's A Diaz Thing lol not that you would actually use it
check the gas and fill the oil..

I bought the FIXD it works.
One additional item I keep is a fix a flat aerosol kit. even a relatively large leak gets you home. Nicely done Justin.
Thanks! Ill check it out!
For Direct injected e90 You definitely need set of injectors plus device to code them. Only last for 30-40k miles
Oh man, keeping a extra Coil in my car saved me twice. All my N54 family members out there definitely need to do the same.
Gurji Jheeta, any chance this advice applies to N52s? I just bought a 128i with 65k on it.
Jason Hosonitz of course!! Better to be safe then sorry. N54's eat coils for breakfast so we need to be a little more cautious.
Nice! I didn't have a spare the first time because I was new to BMW but now I keep one with me
Hi, how do you figure out which coil is defective out of the 6 if you only bring one extra coil as a spare?
@@pixelcharlie Keep a code scanner always, read the misfire code and see which cylinder misfired.

I keep it in the compartment that lifts up in the trunk. I have the small stuff in a plastic bag. I never really hear it moving around unless I go over train tracks
A spare transmission?

I keep a baseball bat in my boot. Wish didn't have to. Great vidz.
I know it’s basic but should be the first thing to check and look for.
sublimegabe yeah, when I press the button the light comes on and the wipers just work in intermittent mode they don't stop or speed up automatically.
