I put 20s on my 96 mustang and made the mistake of trying to run larger than 30% sidewall Rubbed on every bumper and screwed up my handling by raising my center of mass and gave me enough body roll to drag my then custom side exit exhaust
A quick question: do you ship to EU?
none, because i've been watching your videos instead of fucking up
To be honest, I did a lot of research on wheels and tires before making my purchase. I looked at the weights of both the tire and the wheel to get the lightest combination with the best performance I could afford. My current car is the only one I've bought aftermarket wheels to put on it. On prior cars where I changed out the wheels, I used factory wheels only. One other thing I started doing when buying a new set of tires was dropping down to the next tread width/tread aspect ratio from those of the stock tires. For example, I just bought a set of YOKOHAMA AVID ASCEND GT SL
in 205/60 x 15 for my Elantra which takes a stock size of 195/65 x 15. My aftermarket wheels (Primax 533) are 6.5" wide and the 205/60's are made to go on wheels ranging from 5.5" to 7.5" wide so my wheel width is right between these two values. There are two other advantages to dropping down to the next size combination: one, acceleration on the low end will be quicker and the speedometer will be reading higher than your actual speed (meaning that you're less likely to get ticketed if you go faster on the highway than the posted speed limit). Handling will also be improved plus they'll look better.
What do you recommend for a Toyota Camry v6 xle black, or red , or silver color car?
Thanks for recommending me this right after I bought some

@@drewand7288joke on you you're 9mnths older.
Three important things to note with offset that both caught me out:
1. If you're putting in thicker brake calipers, measure to make sure they don't collide with the spokes - if they do, you'll need a spacer which in turn will require you to adjust your offset by that amount to keep the wheels in the desired lateral position
2. Check whether the wheels valve stems sit in front of or behind the spokes - on my wheels they sat behind the spokes and collided with the bigger brake caliper before I put the spacer in
3. Check your stock offsets, they might be different on each axel - on mine the rears were +16 whilst the fronts were 0 - it's less than ideal but this mistake kind of worked in my favour after discovering 2 - I put a 16mm spacer on the fronts for the bigger brakes (which I didn't have for the rears) which means that both fronts and rears stick out 16mm more than they should. If I'd had the correct offset on the rears, the fronts would have stuck out more than the rears - because I didn't, the wheels are at least in line, albeit 16mm out from where they should be.
I’ll need to watch this video at least ten times to fully get it!
You'll never get.. there should be a college course on this
Dude finally someone who's thinking the same thing.
trial and error bro. once you fail and it cost you money. you will get the hang of it.
Lol
By far one of the easiest to understand videos on wheel and tire fitment. Well done!
The part I have a hard time with is trying to make sure that the overall diameter of the wheel and tire are the same. I want to keep the stock overall diameter that way my speedometer reads correctly
You forgot the most overlooked factor. The center bore diameter needs to match or be a bit bigger so you can get hub centric rings at least. If you buy wheels that the bore is too small that means you have to go to a machine shop to enlarge it which cost another 200-400 dollars.
Also tire height chart is best website for tires. Look up your oem size then look up upgrade rim diameter and it will give you all tire sizes that come close to your oem height. Good for staggered setups or if you have all wheel drive cars.
This is almost never the case. Because when a wheel designer is doing the final calliper clearance test, the centre bore always clears before the actual calliper. This means is as you said the center bore becomes an issue, then the brake will most certainly be an issue too. (Actual Wheel designer here)
I have a truck that I'm building into a widebody racetruck and I'm gonna have 19x9 -42 in the front with some 255/35 19s and in the rear I'm gonna have 19x11 -67 with 295/35 19s. It's gonna be a monster and it's gonna look sick as hell!
ohhh okay this helps, thanks! i have decided that i will just stick with my stock wheels
Glad that they suggested coilovers before new wheels.

I really like the one on the top far left. It does seem like there is almost an endless amount of rims and i made the mistake purchasing a chrome set years ago that (unknown to me) was considered a "show rim" and once driven at normal highway speed it would flex like crazy made for a horrible experience going on a road trip and after 10 hours would blow up tires. I really want a new set just have to make sure i check and do my research this time

I got a set of forged on one car and a flow formed on another. The forged may be stronger but dont be fooled the flow formed are just as light in weight. It also depends if they are from a quality brand, which will be more expensive. In conclusion high end flow formed wheels like advan racing are super light.

I was told by a good mechanic of mine if u change your tire/wheel size u will cause damage to vehicle the transmission and some mechanics rely on the stock size tire/rim, they spend many hours tuning and testing vehicle on stock size tire. Now he did say it's not impossible but something I think along the lines of tuning vehicles gear ratio or timing to the spec of tire size and demetion. I'm sure there is more to this then I know but I play it safe and keep same size and just change looks.
I bought some Variis wheels for my G35 been loving them so far. Haven't heard much about them though
Im planning on getting into cars and JDM but i don’t know too much about cars and stuff. Any Advice?
offset and backspacing is where i struggle a bit. it's not the measuring part, it's the imagining how the wheel will look and foreseeing any clearance issues.
Thanks this helped me decide what setup I wanted to run on my bagged F100 pickup truck

Was looking at wheels a month ago for my charger, picked up some other oem charger wheels for extremely cheap so now I've decided that I'm going to just save up some money and get another set that's a bit more flashy.
Maybe eventually I get the Niche Methos M195? Maybe I get something else.
Dama_NoSahh where did you buy your set bro?
Just ordered a set of 18”x9.5” ADIV1 A6 in matte bronze and a set of Toyo summer tires for my 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe.
Sticking with my stocks, I’m too broke anyway
Same haha, plus mine shine on the ground even when it's dark so it looks pretty cool 😂
Elias Lado you could plasti dip them
Took me 6 months to get tires on some cosmis XTs took me another 6 months to get the wheels😭😭
Most stock wheels are of higher quality than aftermarket cast wheels anyway. Since I couldn't get nice wheels at the time, I ended up polishing the faces of my stock 2011 Si wheels to a mirror finish. Made the car look incredible and only took about 3 hours of labor per wheel, sand paper and buffing compound.
Just today I ordered a set of Kansei wheels for it so I'm stoked
FG Poor I felt this 🙁
Lighter/stronger metal is better and when increasing tire diameter stay within 1% tire width within 9% tire calculator online is very helpful. Offset could depend on your brake setup. Good luck

Any note for anyone buying multi piece. I owned 3 sets of 3 piece wheels all 2500+ wheels. They eventually leak and need to be resealed. One set did it in the first 6 months after a burnout. 2 piece is your best bet. The lip is 1 piece and the spikes/face is the other. Get a multi piece wheel but the inner and outter barrel is one

So I just bought coil overs for my car. I have stock wheels and tires. Will I have problems with stock tires? I’m concerned about rubbing. I mean I won’t be able to go super low. But should I seriously consider aftermarket wheels and tires?
When’s the Fi and TJ hunt collab going to happen!? I suggested this like Nov 2019 bro’s 🤘🏽
I know nothing, but I’m customizing my 1997 GMC 1500 high top Savana. Want an off road vibe with all terrain tires. Getting the suspension upgraded then want to swap out the 15” rims and tires for a larger tire , taller. Will need to seek advice so the performance works. Looks easy to do it wrong.
My name is Craig. The intro really messed with me.
I was looking to upgrade my stock steel wheels to a newer and lighter wheels from 16s to 18s but my truck is a 6 lug pattern so it was not easy... So i bought a set of 4 2019 Tahoe 18s wheels take them to a tire shop to rebore the centers my 2011 chevy Colorado bought a set of Achilles 235/55 r18 UHP desert hawk series for my drift truck project. Now im happy. Saludos desde Ensenada Mexico 🍀🎶👍
Chances of you getting lighter alloys when going from 16" steels to 18" alloys is pretty much zero unless you spend north of 10k on forged wheels. Alloy wheels are more often than not, heavier than steelies.
wont have any meets if were still in quarantine ....

There was a huge ass car meet by me the other day. Guess what? Nobody fuckin died.
Can’t remember if you were the one that told me 18 inch rims would fit a Camaro SS 2010,,,, Does this mean, I have to cut the roller wheels off the brake pads upfront in order for them to fit or do they slide right over it thanks.
Hmmmmm, cat must have his tongue, why subscribe and why should I give a thumbs up????
How about a video on the Lexus GS 300?
So much to consider, front wheel drive , rear wheel drive, off set, knock off, spacers, universal adapters, lift kit, shave wheel well. Seen it all.!!!
What's your view on offset and it's relation to brake clearance? I believe they have very little do with each other and other factors like face, hub and barrel are the real determining factors.
It really depends on the wheel. Some wheels can clear large brakes despite being small. You can run a wheel such as a 19" Forgeline GA1-R on a car with six piston calipers and 398 mm discs. On the flipside, there are other wheels that are 20" which are so poorly manufactured that they won't clear the same setup. Always measure the radius from your hut to the outside of the caliper and add 4mm. That will tell you what you have tow work with in terms of inner barrel diameter. Then measure the offset from the hub flange of the brake disc to the face of the caliper. That will tell you how much room you need to clear the spokes. Those two numbers are what you need in order to know whether or not a wheel will clear your brakes. If a wheel vendor or a wheel manufacture cannot tell you what their inner barrel diameter is or how much room there is between the wheel flange and inner wheel face, then shop some place else, because they are not worth your time.
It has everything to do with clearance wtf
You get a larger negative offset in order to fit in a BBK and also to get your rims flush without having to use shtty spacers!
I’m confused with what exactly you mean mate?
Not trying to have a go at you, we all learn from somewhere so if I can help in any way please let me know and I’ll do the best I can!
