For the best compromise between roll rates and glider efficiency, you'd usually have the flaps move between 1/3 and 2/3rds of aileron movement. Plus usually some differential, depending on the glider.
Yes, but only for the efficient parts of the speed/cruise/thermal camber settings. Once you're using a lot of flap to land, most people would go to crow brakes surely?
I'm currently flying the Phoenix 2000, great Glider...As usual, I always learn something from your Tutorials...Can't wait to see you on that fantastic coastline again. Maybe some Caddex Peanut stabilized footage..?...🤔🤔🤔😀🇬🇧
@@AndrewNewton Yes, I've flown mine on a decent slope, it's perfect for sloping too...I've just upgraded my radio link in my P2K with Crossfire 868mhz Nano Rx on a Matek Decoder board. This has allowed me to fit a GPS for height, speed and location. You can also get vbatt on telemetry. It's a neat, compact way of doing it without a full FC...Endless range of course too...🤔😀😀😀🇬🇧 and it's on my Zorro!!!
Hi Andrew. I currently use spektrum for my gliders but would like to move to either openTX or edgeTX with a 4 in 1 module(to make use of my Spektrum receivers).. What is your preference radio wise Teranis, Radiomaster(tx16s and Boxer).. Which radio would you buy if you could only have 1?? The Zorro is a little too small for my hands..
Hi ya i would like your help please im trying to set up my futura 64mm edf jet with my tx16s its states my wing type setting is 1 aileron and 1 flap how do i do this on the tx16s ie mixing im new to all this please help 😢
In my Boxer radio, I am trying to create a mix for a dual servo configuration,(one servo on each aileron), using channel 5 (which controls the two-position switch (SA)) and the aileron channel 1. After mixing it with the aileron channel to control both ailerons with the same stick, the aileron is behaving as if it were moved by a binary switch (example +100 and -100) on channel 5 only, while channel 1 works normally. Although both show continuous movement from -100 to +100 on the channel monitor, the aileron doesn't act like this in real life, but in a binary way. Why might this be happening? Can you help me with that?
Thanks!@@AndrewNewton I appreciate it, I come from the world of dsmx where that didn't really matter. I was scratching my head for hours trying to solve that, thanks!
Is the set up any different if the ailerons are on a y lead using ch 1 only? Have my flaps separate in five and six. Followed the directions and almost got it. I have half flap and when I flick to the center I get full length ailerons but only one side for some reason.
@@AndrewNewton I know eh, why color . maybe they will have video games for them in the future, Mario Fly? .play games until ardupilot is finished flying your plane lol
I like that one Andrew 👍🏻 I have the same Phoenix 1600 as you but don't fly it much due to bolting the wings on may do as you have done so I can just use bands👍🏻

You’ve no idea how long I’ve needed this! Worked perfectly. Thanks Andrew, you’re a bloody star. 👍
Good to hear thanks
Thank you sir 🙏🏼. I’m doing it in EdgeTX, but it’s the same basic concept.
Thanks very much for the donation OraTab. Yes, almost identical
Hello Sir Thank you very much for making a Video for Us . and I learnt lot of from your channel . still you are supporting Big Salute From India ...🙏🏻
It's my pleasure
Andrew, on this type of powered glider, I like to droop the ailerons a little with any stage of flaps.

You sir make it look easy

I have a new P2K next up on the assemble bench. Perfect glider for this area.

Loved the outdoor background view.
Any "Endangered List" Koalas living there?
Don't know if this is Koala country but we do have just about everything else.
Thanks perfect 👊👏👏
No problem 👍
Andrey where to buy this glider what do you hold in your hands? give me a link
Modded Phoenix 1600 ruclips.net/video/erx-ToQLiRU/видео.html and Radiomaster TX16S bit.ly/34EiD45

Boxer 4 in 1, great radio, can do everything.
@@AndrewNewton That was the answer i was hoping for... thank you...

Sorry I don't know that model. Here's a video on different ways to setup models on the TX16S. ruclips.net/video/IIWfJl0J8to/видео.html

Are you using ELRS?
Yes!@@AndrewNewton
@@juancisneros725 Ch 5 is binary by default with ELRS. Ch 5 should only be used for arming switch. You need to read up about ELRS switch modes

All would be OK except crow brakes. Cant make the ailerons go up together if they are only on one channel.
Andrew, what stick ends are those?
3D Printed from Thingiverse..
What Bruce said. Link in the description to my Thingiverse
good info Sir !!
TX16S your primary radio now chap ? Like it ? been solid?
No, not keen on the big colour screen version of OpenTX. I preferred the Taranis QX7 and now use the Zorro. All my receivers are FrSKY or Radiomaster.
