    Clear, concise, and to the point. Pretty much everything a guy needs to know about common mixes in 16 minutes. If it weren't for your videos I'd still be flying with a dx8 :( Thank you John!

    My last tx was a 20se. $2K & the biggest pile of 💩 ive ever owned. Sold it for $500, bought the tx16s. IMMEDIATELY started watching your videos, subbed to ur channel, & EdgeTx (& you) is so simple to learn! My 3rd day watching here, & messing around, i had forgotten everything spektrum, & was helping the other 2 buddies thst talked me into the great transmitter tx16s!
    I learn something new the deeper i go into programming.
    Im almost out of AR620 rx's (for the past 4 years, i buy 12 620's for my new planes.
    Spektrum, esc was for voltage. ANY esc can provide battery voltage on EdgeTx!
    Thank you & keep up the superbly awesome videos sir!

    Speaking of aileron/rudder mix, I used to fly the F-15 Eagle in the Air Force and one of its design flaws was they built-in a permanent mechanical aileron/rudder mix. It made normal flying a little easier but it caused two problems. The first is you had to be careful when flying inverted (or anytime pulling negative g) because the mix caused opposite rudder deflection to what you needed when moving the aileron which could cause loss of control and a possible unrecoverable flat spin. The other problem was the mix could make you less reliant on your rudder and as a fighter pilot we need to use all the flight controls to their max ability in a dogfight. I use my TX16S Switch B to turn off the aileron/rudder mix for acro. I wish the F-15 had a switch.

    Good video as always. I use a total of more than 100% on my delta winged and taileron aircraft since they seem to be limited to 100% by the output. I want to have 100% elevator and not fly around with only 50% authority but still have the aileron making a difference.

    • @laurentlapassade4159
      @laurentlapassade4159 Год назад +1

      I prefer also not to limite main function in the mix and set them to the necessary throw, but to avoid overdrive servo I always set the max displacement in the output with min and max for all servos. Advantage, you still keep full deflexion for the main function and if it hapen that you could overdrive because you apply also another portion of throw with the mix there is no risk for servos and linkages. (run about like your exemple for diff thrust, but in this case the limite is not the esc calibration but the max or min throw of the servo). For exemple this can be obvious, during knife edge, where some time you need full rudder deflexion then you don't want to loose part of it because of mix.

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  Год назад

      I agree the output should be the limit and have no answer for why I've seen servos overdriven, but I have. However, I can also state every wing I have flies quite aggressively using the same mix.
      I'll also make note, if you allow one surface to consume the full physical movement and need the other surface, it won't be able to move. By limiting both to a combined 100%, you have the ability for all controls to move a surface at full extension by an opposing control.
      i.e. Ailerons can move while at full elevator. Or elevator can move while at full aileron. If you use 100% for both surfaces you'll get differential movement if one surface is at full deflection and you move the other.

    • @laurentlapassade4159
      @laurentlapassade4159 Год назад +1

      @@RCVideoReviews for a wing I agree with you. Sharing throw between aileron and elevator in order to have max 100% is ok. But there are other applications where limiting servos throw is a better solution. In my ruder exemple you don't care to loose ail to rud mix when on knife edge, you need more rud to ail and rud to ele if the plane doesn't go neutral in this position. For me there is not only 1 way, but regarding the use, sometime sharing throw is better, and, sometime limiting throw is better. Another exxemple for F3K gliders and air brake we use falperon with huge negative throw and we don't want to loose portion of this throw at full brake then it's better to have only the aileron going up still working.

    Fantastic video. I got one glider with V-tail - so now i know how it is done in case i have to do it my self. Right now a Lemon 10 Ch Rx does the mixing internal (and it has built in telemetry, altimeter, vario and Stabilization). The Rx should be on the market soon. I've bin testing this for some while now on my Mantis glider.

    I have a request for a future video:
    Dynamic elevons. Typically, you are not supposed to have the combined rates for the aileron and elevator be no more than 100% so you make it something like 50% aileron and 50% elevator. Sure, you can hard code/change this ratio to something like 70% aileron and 30% elevator, but wouldn’t it be cool if the programming can determine how much elevator rate you are using (from a slider adjustment) and if you’re not using much elevator, dynamically add the unused range to the aileron range to give you more throw.
    The RCGroups thread below discusses this issue and a couple of people came up with some ideas that apparently work. It’s a complicated subject. If this subject interests you as a video topic, my request is that you read the RCGroups thread below, make sense of the different options that would accomplish this, and then make an EdgeTx video describing how to do it.
    I currently use two switches for rates (SA down - low aileron, SA mid - left slider real-time adjustable aileron rate, SA up - aileron high rate). Same setup on the SD switch only for elevator rates.
    I’m not sure if this kind of dynamic sharing of unused range would work with two rate switches and adjustments or if one slider would be used say mid point would represent a 50/50 ratio of aileron/elevator ratio and as you slide the slider down it becomes say 30 aileron/70 elevator and as you slide it up from mid-point it becomes up to 70 aileron/30 elevator with max and min’s set up in a curve so you don’t shut out the other range.

    I'm not sure if this was a firmware fix since this video came out but the servo monitoring page shows that at max rudder of 100% when I move the ailerons the ail/rud mix is ignored and the value never exceeds 100 or -100. It seems that setting the rudder to 80% max to compensate for the 20% ail/rud mix shown in the video isn't needed.

    my questions
    ==========
    INPUT section , you mentioned weight 100 for AIL AND 100 for ELE ,
    AND IN MIXES , you used 50%weight value for ail and ele ,
    dear when i set in input ail and ele through or weight low rate 50% , mid rate 70% and high rate 90% ,
    but these rates movement are moving with weight 50% difine in MIXES , i think should move with rates value , i difene in INPUT , PLS CLEAR THIS POINT ,
    CAN WE INCREASE MIXES WEIGHT TO 100% ? TO get more through value
    i hope your under stand my point

    In my Boxer radio, I am trying to create a mix for a dual servo configuration,(one servo on each aileron), using channel 5 (which controls the two-position switch (SA)) and the aileron channel 1. After mixing it with the aileron channel to control both ailerons with the same stick, the aileron is behaving as if it were moved by a binary switch (example +100 and -100) on channel 5 only, while channel 1 works normally. Although both show continuous movement from -100 to +100 on the channel monitor, the aileron doesn't act like this in real life, but in a binary way. Why might this be happening? Can you help me with that?

    REQUEST: I know how to program a motor kill switch, I can't figure out how to program a THROTTLE HOLD switch. (for air[planes running on gas or glow) One that acts like the one on my Hitec TX. It will hold the throttle wherever it is when the switch is activated.

      The only way I can think to approach that problem is with Global Variables, but I'm not aware of any way in the current firmware to override a channel with a global variable. Therefore, the only other option I can think of is an approximation. You could use special functions for SWx Up, SWx Mid, SWx Down and user Override Channnel (throttle channel) and hard code a value. i.e. You could do 25%, 50%, 75% with Override -50, 0, +50. That's not very granular, but it's the only thing I can think of absent a channel override with a specific value.
