    Thanks Andrew! To add, models can be saved on the computer for safe keeping, and/or loading older models that may no longer be on the radio. When I make running changes to any of my models I always create a new file to be kept on the computer with a file name relating to a change in model settings.

    Hi Andrew. Have been watching this tutorial a few times. I like the 1st way best. The one thing that I feel is the most important and what I like to do first in setting up a radio or model is the throttle safety switch much like you had in the FlySky i6 video. Is there any chance that you could explain this procedure? I had to swap from mode 2 to mode 1 in the tx and found it not hard at all. Just adjusting about 4 or 5 screws.

    Hi Andrew, Love the little wing you showed in you most recent video "Shaka fun" awesome. Question Mac book and companion, When I eject the 2 drives (SD card) and then wait a bit and then disconnect the TX16S cable I often get an error on the MacBook about ejecting the drive before disconnecting it. I came from PC to Mac and love it but little things like this cause me concerns that I am doing something incorrectly. Also when I get this error I usually can not get the radio to connect the next time I plug it in to the Mac. Any suggestion as I believe you've been on Mac for some time? Thanks in advance. Jeff

    Hello Andrew - thank you for this information. Can you please advise how to change the model photo? I have downloaded my own jpg photo into the Images folder and it shows on the SD tab on the Transmitter under the System button - but is not visible when trying to change the photo on any specific model ? Is this something you have seen? This could be helpful for quite a few people! Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Problem solved! Appears you need to keep the file name to max of 6 - 10 characters (depending on who you ask!) and a resolution of 192 x 108 (or perhaps 640 x 480 again depending on who you ask - it may be that shape is more important than size?) This topic does not appear to get much coverage - perhaps you have done so Andrew and I have missed? If so can you place a link to your video? Once again - many thanks for all your helpful and informative videos.

      Personally I use Image Magic (open source, multi platform, free, command line image manipulation tool) to change the photo to the 192x114 sized PNG using the following command: convert input-file.JPG -resize 192x114 Ranger.png (use your own file names). You then copy this file from your PC to the Images folder on your SD card in your radio. Then after you disconnect the radio from the computer and bring up the model you browse to this new image and select it. I know I am just hitting the highlights here but it seems you have some other resources. Image Magic was the key for me in that it allows a very easy conversion to the required format and that was the key for me to get images to work correctly.

    Hi Andrew, not really relevant to this topic but i recently upgraded my Ranger 1600's motor to a Sunnysky 1250kv instead of the stock 1400kv, (keeping the same 8x4 prop) i have noticed that the new motor appears to have much less thrust, it also only draws a max of 13 amps on 3s instead of the previous 18 amps. I have calibrated my esc but it still seems like i am lacking power. Is this normal or do i have an issue with my esc, which is also upgraded to a Turnigy 40A plush. Throttle also only starts at just over a quarter of full throttle.
    If anyone else has answers please let me know
    Thanks.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  3 года назад +1

      Yes it will be underpowered on 3S. You now have a perfect 4S power setup, same as mine. Either use 4S or change to an 8x6 prop. Probably need to re-calibrate the ESC after resetting to defaults. Might have something like a Soft Start activated.

    I can't believe I had to pull up a video on how to setup a New Model... when pressing the Model button or holding down the roller wheel... brought up nothing with Create Model as an option.... WTF... holding the roller wheel button brings up:
    Model Select
    Monitors
    Reset
    Statistics
    About
    There was no create new model wizard. I finally said to h3ll with trying to figure this out, and connected OpenTX companion to create a new model. Thank goodness I didn't have to try to do this out in the field in the bright sunlight, and was just at home trying to create a new dummy model for Liftoff so I wouldn't have to listen to all my autostart timers and alarms.
    So if you're having problems finding a Create Model option, use OpenTX.
    Somehow I finally figured out to get to the Create model screen by accident. Here's how you do it.
    Hold the Scroll wheel in. That will bring up a menu, and then chose "Model Select".
    Next... hold the scroll wheel in again while on the Model Select page, and that will bring up yet another buried dialog, with "create Model" at the top.
    Then do like Q*bert does, and go !@#$%^

    I thought it was important I pass this information on about Opentx “input” screen verses “Mixes” screen when setting up dual / triple rates. Try the following model setup: it proves there is a problem with the “Mixes” screen.
    I setup a new Basic model in companion 2.3.7 and setup triple rates for the Elevator in the “Inputs” screen using switch SA and triple rates for the Ailerons in the “Mixes” screen using switch SB, Then in the simulator I moved the respective elevator and aileron trims to maximum, now when I operate the rate switches something strange happens the Aileron channel itself changes value but the Elevator channel dose not this is even worse if you use extended trims. This could potentially cause a model to crash, give it go and let me know if I’ve buggered up the programming or its right.

    • @EnglishTurbines
      @EnglishTurbines 3 года назад +1

      Forget rate switches, it's a hard, complicated way to do everything TBH. Plus you have to know which of the three rates you are in!!

      When OpenTX came out I switched from the big F, learned OpenTX then moved on, I just purchased my first FPV drone after flying DJI drones for work so I needed to get another radio. The new EdgeTX has support for a color touch screen and NO user manual, the Radio I purchased is missing function keys like Page Up. EdgeTX is a needed update to OpenTX after FrSky sabotaged OpenTX, EdgeTX allows you to use the touch screen but they haven't finished it yet and there is no manual, existing Wizards don't work and a lot of the OpenTX guides are obsolete. Getting a drone to connect and fly has been a time consuming task, I did come across a radio that doesn't use OpenTX or EdgeTX and works with the ExpressLRS receivers, $60, turn it on and fly. I under stand your pain, for some reason everyone think a youtube video is the new user manual methodology, I think its a means for people to ramble on and on and on.
