Meet Lyra. She is 4 months old and we’ve had her for around 3 months.

Lyra’s main “toys”, substrates and set up are switched out weekly/ biweekly as she tends to get bored easily.
We didn’t add in her chew toys as I simply forgot to when filming.

maybe put the granite tile with the water dish and the sand bath (plus anything heavy) on some sort of platform/stilts so if she burrows under it she won’t get crushed. (i learned this the hard way)

@@tionistone5037 my robo made a huge burrow system under his sand bath (which at the time i didn’t know about), one night i heard him screaming because he got stuck under the sand bath and ended up breaking his leg :(
I love this cage although I would recommend putting some sort of tunnel or cork log in the most empty place and maybe some grapevine wood since hamsters are prey animals and like to be covered. But other than that amazing cute, natural hamster cage!🐹🐹🐹
Definitely will do! I used to have some in my late hamsters cage but it’s something I’ve not purchased again for Lyra x

they made it! you have to buy the frames from ikea and the glass too the rest is just assembling the parts and putting the cage together :)
Yay your back ! Lyra is very cute and looks similar to my past hamster Willow ! I would recommend making her cage a bit more crowded as hamsters are prey animals and like to have lots of coverage to make them feel safe so that if they get spooked they don't have to go far to hide ! Other than that her setup is great , loving the neat but natural vibes it gives !

Hi I love the cage and thank you for doing your research!!Try adding tubes under the bedding recommend toilet paper rolls. Add more branches,toys and some items for your hamster too bite and more fun stuff for your hamster. Also I recommend watching “Victoria Raechel” but nice job on the cage.

Bandit looked very much like my very first hammy named Hammy (a Golden Banded).
I really like the all natural look of the cage, especially the cute floating plastic carrot in the water bottle! 😁
I use a 20cm diameter by 5cm deep ceramic planter (bamboo theme with 4 little pandas on top) for a sand bath & 4cm deep playground sand in it.
My fave part of the vid was when it looked like Lyra had a little coconut hat on, hehe...oh, so cute! 😄🤗🥰

This gives an "ikea" vibe 😂 looks nice. But isn't natural lookin. Maybe put hay, or that moss you have on top of bedding? or dried herb flower mix. And maybe wood, grapevine or driftwood or cork tunnel. Now that would look natural
Can you share where get some of the supplies? I can’t find anything like the flax or moss near me really. Or maybe I’m not looking in the right stores.
quick suggestion, you should really crowd the cage because hamsters do better in crowded environments. thats probably why she’s getting bored so easily.
nice setup , although a tunnel or cork log would fill up some of the empty space and provide more hiding room.i really liked the glass bowl you used and the sprays for foraging .
I think I will get a few. She has just some basic logs I rotate and heat treat every so often and she loves them. I’ve never tried her with cork logs though so I’ll definitely try that x
where do you get the acrylic box you used as a sand bath? i love it!
Came to comments to see if this had already been asked, I've been hunting for something to use as a sand bath as my hamster destroyed the edible one in a few days haha

Your cage looks so pretty! I would just recommend adding more bedding, though, because the platform is so tall and your hamster might walk off it easily.

@@seastars2604 It IS better than 90% of hamster owners cages so it is obvious this person cares about their hamster. Because they care about their hamster I am sure they would like to prevent their hamster from getting hurt and they can't prevent that if they don't know about it.

I love the cage and your hammy but next time you clean it I would recommend only cleaning out half the cages bedding or once a week you can go around and look for soiled bedding and take that out but don’t clean the entire cage because you are removing all their scent ❤️ but other that that you did a great job and you cage is much better than mine 🥰
As a chinchilla owner, I could NEVER own a hamster. I get overwhelmed just thinking about all the supplies and cage cleaning, as well as trying to find your hamster if they had burrowed down in the deep bedding. Respect
I find chinchillas harder to care for intact I recently sold my chinchilla to get a hamster lol

To make things stand more stable I recommend putting some paper bedding on the top. (I use carefresh or kaytee)

Thank you! I’d love to be able to add more plants to it but I’m unsure about what’s safe for hamsters. She has her pride rock blooms petals that she loves. I completely forgot to film that too 😂
Hayley Vnn I’m the same way! I’ve watched videos of safe plants for hamsters, but still not sure I want my hamster getting into the dirt and roots in case there’s anything unsafe. Maybe I’m just paranoid 😂

Yes I want to know because we’re on vacation and we go back home from vacation in a few weeks and my birthday present from my Mom and Dad is that I’m getting a hamster and she is going to be a girl and she is going to be 10 months old and what do I give her if she is cold because we live Chicago Illinois white eagle Naperville so it snows for us so she is going to be cold what should I put

this is completely up to you,but seeing hamsters are omnivores mealworms shouldn't be considered as treats. Maybe mix a little in the seed mix.
A good seed mix should already have it so extra mealworms are treats?

Hello! I loved everything, where did you buy the coconut fiber? And the acrylic pot that is under your wheel?💕
You can get coconut fiber in the reptile section of the pet shop.
If you're good at DIYing, I'd recommend adding another platform low enough where you can put the wheel and still close the top, and keeping all the other heavy stuff like the sand bath, the stone slab and the food/water bowls all on the platforms, since the hamster's digging can make those things fall on them. I would also recommend adding more bedding and compacting it (without the hamster inside the cage) so it's stable to dig tunnels in. Right now it looks difficult to build tunnels in it.
For square items like sandbath just adding dowels can do without wasting some space for the platform

I got hamster before 1 year,and i buyed him small cage and he really like it.Then after 8 months with me me and my dad made another one cage in plastic box and he loved it so much,it js so much bigger and nicer,and because it was eid i got lot of money and today im going to buy him amother cage that is 10 times bigger and nicer,i will tell ylu how it goes.
