How’s this for a pick-up drag race line-up?!
We’ve got the all-new Ford Ranger Raptor, and it’s facing off against a tuned Mercedes X-Class and tuned Volkswagen Amarok!
So let’s see how these three behemoths stack up. Starting with the Ranger Raptor, it’s powered by a 3-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol which can deliver 292hp and 583Nm of torque. It tips the scales at 2,454kg and is the only petrol-powered car here. It’s also at a bit of a disadvantage by being equipped with off-road tyres.
Next up we have the X-Class. This comes with a 3-litre turbo V6 diesel under the bonnet, and it’s been tuned! As a result, it can deliver 300hp and 700Nm of torque, and it weighs in at 2,383kg
Then finally we have the Amarok. This has also been tuned, and as a result, its 3-litre turbo V6 diesel can put down 340hp and 775Nm! It’s also the lightest car here, weighing in at 2,330kg.

@@si1987_ no way, off-road has very different dynamics. The Amarok doesn’t even have a rear diff lock, plus those road tyres would work against it
Tried chasing down an Amarock in my Gti and at 250km/h that thing was absolutely moving forward

@Si 1987 Raptor has lockers, offroad focused 33's and amazing low range. Amarok doesn't even have low range
Raptop will win off-road in technical sections, love the amarok but the problem with it is not proper 4x4 capabilities the v6 engine makes up for it.
The Raptor would take all of them off road. The Mercedes is just a Nissan navara. Was the Raptor in Baha mode?

To be fair, out of the three, it really is the most important.
Rarely are you accelerating full force from zero due to either traffic, road conditions or just speed limits. Braking is important just from a safety standpoint.

Make that 288hp, not 292, and it's 491Nm, not 583. The 583 is the international version, the non-neutered one, not like the European softie

The x class wasn't rolling coal, it was rolling an oil leak, probably from the turbo seals from being under too much boost 😳🤣

Unfortunately in Europe its only 292hp, I have it in UAE and its 392hp and its amazing!
Basically in any other part of the world it gets the 392HP except the UK/EU.
I am from the UAE, the truck is a huge win, I see many of them, even more than the F150 raptor

i have one, i don't think they do. this one is modded to sound way better than stock. like, COMPLETELY different note. a stock one sounds more like the mercedes here.

For those watching outside of Europe, the Ranger Raptor sold here in Europe has less power than the one sold in other countries. 292 in Europe, versus 397 elsewhere.
We can blame EU regulations for that. But the Ranger Raptor’s amazing off road capabilities is the most important thing.
Also, the torque for the European Ranger Raptor is actually 491Nm. 583Nm for the rest of the world.
Totally not EU being bitches cause then their utes don't hold a candle to the real deal. I bet its the same reason you don't get the 3.0 diesel in the Dmax but its fine rest of the world

In my country it came with 397 hp from factory
In South Africa it has 400hp. That pick up doesn't deserve the "Raptor" name.

Funny thing is that X class is a Navara with a few plush comforts though the V6 version is unique to the X and the Navara only gets the 2.3

In Australia it only has 354bhp.
Amarok reminded me of my 2019 GTI when I had the Neuspeed tuning box for more HP but no DSG tune. The gearbox was a gongshow. Something about the VW gearboxes when u add a bunch of HP and TQ but don't tube them. It's almost as if the VW engineers purposely make the gearbox work right, but only with stock power. It was so bad I did a DSG tune and voided all of my warranty just so I didn't have to get rid of the car out of frustration. It was that bad.
Will admit Yani is the best and more entertaining guest you have for these videos. On another note the raptor has some disadvantages regarding tyres etc, but it's probably at least up to 6 months old or between 6 & 12 months, so likely not run in yet

@@148Reaper well the early biturbo 4cyl love to blow turbos , drunk loads of oil and had issue with the egr cooler and that's the tip of the iceberg. Plus lots of electrical problems with HVAC system and had low quality brakes and there was a recall for them and poor quality CV joints.
@@148Reaper 12 years you claim probably barely driven . I had a 2006 polo as a 1st car was 3 years old VW approved and had so many problems again electrical . Then my 2nd car a 2010 Fiesta had it for 5 years and had no faults . My dad had a MK2 focus for 14 years with 180,000 miles nearly never failed a MOT .
You can get a Stage 1 tune of the 2023 Ford Ranger 3 litre twin turbo V6 diesel with 320bhp and 750nm torque, in Australia.
That’d been a fairier comparison amongst the 2 other vehicles.

It’s a shame that Deranged couldn’t get more out of that V6. I’ve had an E-class with the same engine mapped by MSL and they managed to comfortably squeeze 338BHP and 795nm. Still torquey as hell but they left a lot of room for improvement still

Those tunes are cute, only a hundred more horsepower or so, and you’ll be at the standard output of most American V8s

Here in South America there is the Ranger Raptor (not avaiable in my country yet) and the F150 Raptor and this one is the monster, but the Ranger Raptor is pretty good too
