Been a huge fan of yours Matt going back to your old "WRX fan" channel days lol! You're one of the very few reviewers that truly understands this car and honestly the TLX overall. It isn't a German sports sedan, it wasn't trying to be or it would have copied the 3 series formula like others. It's Honda doing it Honda's way, never a numbers car but always has that right mix of fun, comfort and reliability. (Though can you imagine if the company that brought us the S-2000 and NSX built a RWD sedan? We'll never know!) But you're right in that this car is underrated because everyone really does keep saying M340i, M340i!! Sure I get it, I leased a 330i M-Sport with the adaptive dampers etc.. of the current gen and its is an all around amazing car with a different character altogether, (340 definitely has a bomb under the hood but I can't see a situation where I'd be able to even use the power of that car in 95% of my driving). But when it came down to what's the more rational choice when you consider value and cost of ownership down the road I ended up turning in my 2020 3 series lease which was $52k back in 2019!! and bought a 21' A-Spec 2.0T with the SH-AWD pre-owned. The AWD gives this car a truly unique driving experience vs the 3. There are turns I wouldn't dare try to floor coming out of in the 3 for fear of oversteering into a guardrail lol where as this car just uses that torque vectoring to haul your ass right through it like magic! It's fun.

Honestly, the BMW styling is so close to Mercedes. At least Acura designed a car that looks unique, different, and one of a kind. I have a TL now and in my opinion, it’s highly underrated. Service/upkeep on a German automobile is getting crazy. My brother has an M3, and we’re always comparing notes. I’ll take another Acura in a heartbeat. Great review Matt.

Good looking car Acura! I love that gray. So nicely understated. I don't care for the pushbutton PRDNL, never have. Just like hating the RAM "Turn the Dial" drive system. Wireless charging, is such a gimmicky thing. I never use it. I never use a heated steering wheel either, but do love heated seats. The seats look good. Regarding HONDA/ACURA, even TOYOTA/LEXUS, they do listen to what Automobile Reviewers comment about, like you. I mean, if you comment on where something is lacking, they will do something about it. Good for them! This TLX TypeS is such a lovely compromise for a person that wants a great family cruiser/sporty sedan. Me likey. I would still consider the brand new 2025 Camry XSE Hybrid for 18-grand less money, and better fuel mileage, reliability too. Yes, the Camry is not really considered a sporty car, but it's getting closer. Regardless, I could see myself driving a TLX TypeS, but "the times they are a chang'n". So, the CAMRY XSE Hybrid should be considered strongly. Just my thought. I would buy the Acura over a BMW, for sure. But would buy a Toyota/Lexus over a Honda/Acura product. Honda/Acura for reliability comes in lower than Toyota/Lexus. Too bad, since they were almost dead even. I can't wait to see the new MAZDA 6 for 2025.
    GOOD JOB MATT!

Do you know why people don’t give the car its due in my opinion is because they think it doesn’t have enough horsepower. That’s ridiculous for a 156 mph top speed car. Plus, a good car is the totality of the driving experience and not just 0-60 times, which are more than fantastic! None of these young people remember the 70’s and 80’s when we had 500 cubic engines with 190 horsepower and 0-60mph times of 13-17 seconds as the norm.

You're wrong! The problem as to why it gets so much flack is because Honda overpromised and underdelivered. They marketed it during concept stage as a car that would wipe the floor against the competition and clearly it didn't. 355hp is plenty enough, problem here is the weight, and, of course, the FWD architecture (greed). If Honda really wanted to go head to head with the Germans and the Koreans, they'd release something that would surpass their specs. What's worse is that the TLX Type S got released AFTER the existing iterations of its competition, so they had more than enough time to do their homework.

I wish Acura would listen to the Honda/Acura enthusiasts when it comes to wanting a manual transmission option. The sales on these things will be mindblowing considering how many wishes it came with one. That's the main reason i am holding on to my 2010 Acura TL SH-AWD 6 speed manual transmission.

Hey Matt. I love your videos and ive been a fan for a few years since my brother would show me your older reviews. I would like to give some suggestions of maybe how you can improve your channel.
    1. I noticed you dropped the intro which was a really good idea! I think it give your reviews a very classy and clean feel. So I feel like to tie it all in you can consider a rebranding in the sense of a new logo, brand identity, a color pallette to use for your editing. Things like banners to signify the chapters in your reviews. This could be an affordable and easy way to bump up the signature touch and overall aesthetics of the videos.
    2. I would say one thing i personally appreciate is quality sound. Definitely a dedicated microphone set up, one for the voice, one for the engine/ cabin noise, one for exhaust. I think this would tie in to the quality of editing and reviewing you do.
    3. Third I would say in the beginning of the video you looked very excited and happy to review the car which immediately drew me in to the rest of the video. I would say its very important to the viewer to receive information but also if not more important feel the creators enthusiasm through the videos. I think it would be a good gamble to see what it's like to shift more focus on sporty cars and economy cars since that is what viewers like me mostly look for: cars we may be able to afford or never be able to afford and dont have the ability to test them out.
    4. Finally I would say for thumbnails, you can make a signature type of picture. Maybe having a spot with great lighting that gives a good shot with a very low depth of field and high focal length. I think this type of car photography is extremely attractive to both enthusiats and non-enthusiasts
    5. I notice one thing that makes the reviews a little harder to keep watching is that the majority of the reviewing is done while you are driving. The talking and road noise sometimes makes it hard to really listen to your ideas. So I think maybe seeing how you can dedicate specific shots and demos to the appropriate chapters. Like for example when you were talking about the mpg, comforts, pricing, you could have been outside the car and maybe some still shots of those features like ths dash showing the mpg, the heads up display and something creative to describe the competitive pricing. Finally i dont think it would hurt to have some non review clips of purely spirited or hard driving.
Thank you for all the effort you put into the channel and i will continue supporting and I wish you the best in being able to garner more success and progress 🙏🏽

Love the TLX Type S, such a fantastic underrated platform. I miss analog gauges as well, signature Type s. These are easily tunable as well with Ktuner, will get you just over 400hp.

Car looks beautiful inside & out, this is a great spec 💯👌 Car is heavy unfortunately 4200lbs + & only 355 HP & 354 TQ & curious to see what it puts down to the wheels stock. Hopefully this platform develops & has aftermarket support, I’d buy one as a CPO potentially. New is quite expensive for an Acura (doesn’t even have a touch screen for 2024 lol) but all new performance based vehicles are expensive now. M340i is another great option, even the older generation of C43’s as well w/ the V6 TT. Hell, for the 60-70k segment there are plenty of great used CPO options, M, AMG & RS cars.

Thanks. I have the 2 liter 2023 ASpec. I love the lower weight in the front compared to my old 6 cylinder Accord Coupe.
I hope they do a major upgrade in 2026. I'm worried as the sales are down.

I drove this model and the Lexus IS500. I didn’t need a larger car like the TLX and the V8 rear drive in the Lexus sold me. I live in the South, so the AWD wasn’t big plus for me. Plus leaned toward the V8 since they will probably be dinosaurs in the coming years.

Such a good looking car, BUT….I’ve always had a problem with Acura putting the Sport/ Normal/ Eco button dead center in the dash, it seems awkward and clumsy to navigate that (leaning forward) and I don’t want my passengers seeing when I flip it on. Acura should put it somewhere on the steering wheel!

Great performance car bargain. People can push the 340i or the c43, but for overall value, reliability, maintenence costs and resale possibilities are definite positives.

Think if first gear as a "launch" gear. 2nd gear is closer to a normal 1st gear ratio so it skips 1st as fast as possible unless you're fully launching the vehicle.

Also, I can confirm that up through 2023 the low-speed transmission clunkyness is still present.
Every once in a while, during on-off-on throttle transitions around ~20mph there'll be this very disconcerting ka-THUNK as if it can't decide whether to be in 2nd or 3rd

Love these TLX Type S’ - would love one of these but a bit out of my comfort level as far as the price range is concerned. Getting around the 60k mark on a car is just a scary proposition for me. Still love the car though, great review.

funny how everyone hated on this car when it came out now they love it. It isn't that much different. I own a Canadian 21. But 3 grand to get the wheel upgrade is crazy! you are better off keeping the base wheels, selling them and getting something else

Matt: this or an automatic ct4 blackwing? At the end you said you’d pick the tlx hands down among the other sedans but unsure if that includes the bw.

The only car currently thats a sedan that will possibly replace my current vehicle. Will probably wait another year or two for it to get that touchscreen that the redreshed MDX has. Maybe even a power bump, but sounds like juat the transmission tuning dis more than enough.

Good job sticking with 6 cylinders for Honda still way too busy at the steering wheel and other places but huge fan of the throwback touch panel instead of touchscreen although screen looks too much just thrown on there. Verdict: Toyota still setting itself up for failure
