      I passed a guy going uphill while towing my camper trailer which a diesel (unless massive) just could not have done. And that was from being speed matched behind him - I didn’t come up behind already going faster. I had to pull out and punch it and he wasn’t even towing.

      Second this. Would be really interested to compare this to the range of 4cylinder utes. I would imagine the v6s would have more in reserve given the extra 150Nm. Even a Ranger/Amarok biturbo vs this would give a good indication as you have already compared the rest.

    • @mickzed6393

      @DW-10 Год назад

      @@mickzed6393 With 450Nm I’m not concerned about the quantum, more the delivery. A 1/4 is all about full throttle and high revs. I’m curious about the low rpm/part throttle/high load scenarios. Not interested in towing at full throttle. The number of gears can help keep an engine on a narrow torque band but if the final drive ratio is high or the torque has a significant hole then the box is going to be constantly shifting to compensate which creates other issues such as heat generation in the transmission. I’m not expecting it to be complete rubbish, just wondering how it compares.
      A Honda S2000 made 177kw out of a na 2.0 engine and would be allot faster over a 1/4 mile. But it would have about the worst possible power delivery for towing.

    I think Ford has dropped the ball by not offering the 4 cyl petrol, the engine is highly regarded in the US spec Ranger, if Ford and VW offered this in lower spec models, I get the feeling it would be all over for the competition, not everyone want's the top spec model or the complexity of the new generation diesels especially in the city with DPF problems.

      Most sales are diesel, because of economy and range when towing. The petrol would make sense for an urban car, but then, why not a sedan instead?

    To bad they do not offer the 2.7 V6 over there like in the USA, that would be the sweet spot almost raptor like performance beacuse of less weigth. The Ranger gets the 2.7 V6 here but you guys get so much more rear vents, cooled seats, grab handles everywhere, and highier trims. Ford just needs to offer it all to everyone and quit second guess what the customer wants. We want it all a Platuim Ranger with the 2.7 ecoboost V6 that would be the best. If you are listen Ford do this for all your customers because Toyota is with the new Tacoma Limited.

    Hasn't the petrol vw been serverly down rated in GVM and GCM? It's just a shopping mall crawler and sadly not an alternative for a work ute. Not everyone wants an unreliable, diesel but this petrol isn't a work ute.

  • @jerrymyahzcat

    The Petrol sounds much better than the diesel. But electric sounds even better as I hate noise.
    On another note - please do the 80-120 test from cruising at 80 not passing through it floored as it’s supposed to be an overtaking performance test.
    Lastly, I’d like to see the same dragparison with 1500kg trailer behind each vehicle.

    Diesels are always good for that quick off the line push as they have high amounts of torque and don’t suffer from turbo lag like petrol’s do, they are also better for towing and would last longer as they are more durable, but if you want outright power and performance (turbo) petrols would always outshine the (turbo) diesels.
    Longievity won’t be as good as the diesels though if you’re going to be towing around town though and carrying a heavy load in the back.
    Performance figures are respectable too given these things weigh over 2200kg so power to weight would’ve always been an issue here, don’t go around racing hot hatch hoons thinking you’ll get them, maybe off the mark but not in the long run or from a rolling start situation.
