- This is the first episode of a new series on the AutoEdits RUclips channel called Drive Your Adventures and this one is brought to you by Power Stop Brakes! I'm so happy to share this new video of an EPIC off road adventure into the mountains of Southern California.
I try to tackle the Miller Jeep Trail with the AutoEdit Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 truck on 37" tires and end up getting lost, scratching the heck out of the sides of the truck, breaking a front axle and getting stuck a couple of times on the trail.... making for a very long day out in the wilderness.
Here's a link to the PowerStop brake kit I installed on the Ram:

Here's my Instagram page if you would like to check out what I'm doing on a more regular basis!

Getting lost, shoveling, stacking rocks, doubling back, and running out of daylight are all things that make it an adventure!
Next video.... WINCH INSTALL!!!
It was a good time overall. The winch is going to be tricky on this because of that bumper but we'll make it happen at some point.
Rear locker next. Nice work with the high lift though, i stopped carrying one because of the weight and I have a winch and a jack but I might have to add it back in to my gear.
You definitely need to do more Drive Your Adventures videos like this one. It was a lot of fun.
Awesome to hear! Thanks and I hope to create more content like this for ya!
Hey man! I have to say that I admire the calmness and control that you showed when you got stuck with a possible broken axle and I remember last time I got stuck on my own I stopped filming and set myself to panic mode. It was then after I got out of the situation that I recapped my behavior and felt stupid for not facing the situation with better spirit. Thumbs way UP Jason !
Well thanks so much! I went and checked out your Bronco and that thing is rad. There was a moment when I was winching that I thought about just getting out of there but realized there was nothing life threatening happening and to just enjoy it for what it was. Ended up being a good learning experience!
I appreciate the support!!!!
Consistently top notch. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for the support!!!
Glad you enjoyed yourself, thank you for taking us along on your adventure. LOL, I think it's time for a good GPS and a winch if you are going to adventure alone.
Thank you and yes on both winch and GPS!!!!!!
Anyone else picturing the “this is fine” meme with the guy smiling in the house engulfed in flames every time he says I’ll just stack some rocks?😂
HAHA! Love it!
Makes me want to do some full-size wheeling in my truck now. Really enjoyed this video. Great job.
Yeah buddy! Thanks so much!
Amazing video with a positive attitude. Love it looking forward to part 2!
Amazing support and awesome comments like this one from you make this worth while!
I always look forward to your videos. I can't wait to see more trail rides!
This reminds me of my old job. I used to update GIS maps, think google map cars without the 360 cameras, for Tribal governments. We would go out and drive and inventory all the roads within the reservations. A lot of them were mountains roads not open to the public and were not well maintained. This led to a lot of great exploration, adventures, and problem solving. Somedays i couldnt believe i was getting paid to do what i did. Those were the days, thanks for sharing.
That sounds awesome! Great share... thanks so much!
That’s why you always go with another vehicle so you have some help and it’s safer but I like that you have a full-size truck.
True... but my work schedule meant that I had to go whenever time off happened and no one was available for this trip.
Such an adventure... always nice videos. Thanks for the trip 😉
Thank you for watching and leaving a cool comment!
This show is more Dirt Every Day than Dirt Every Day.
HA! Well thanks dude, I try and have a good time!
DED started out good but allot of the stuff in the last 2 years was just really bad and silly, I know you work for the show and cant comment, but maybe your bosses will see this and give you the show instead of Fred.
Badass video...enjoyed every second!
Instant fan! Creepy as hell heading out to the middle of nowhere by yourself not knowing all the challenges you can face.
That's part of the fun! Welcome to the channel and thanks for watching!
Loved it! Keep these kind of videos coming!
Great video of getting lost Jason I really enjoyed the the ride along and now I see a new video in the future titled How to replace your half shafts
great video as always, I look forward to the rest of the series.
I hope to do many more this year! Thanks!
Love the new series so far keep it up man!
That's the plan and with support like this from you will make it happen... Thanks!
Love your videos Jason! If Frieberger is leaving Roadkill, you should really be the one taking the spot.
HaHa! I appreciate the thought!
Love the video and excited for the series! Better than any other motor trend show in my opinion.
Well, I'm not so sure about that but I LOVE the support!!!
Thanks so much!
I suffered a head trauma, back in 05, and rehabbed my body and emotions off roading in the Vulture Mountains near Wickenburg Arizona. Like you I just went wherever the turn took me. Believe it or not it was the holy-crap moments like the one you went through in this episode that helped me the most. Thanks for sharing.
So sorry to hear about your injury but I'm really happy to hear from you about your experiences off road and how it helps you.
I hope you get many more miles in the back country getting "dirt therapy"! Thanks for sharing.
Dirt therapy... I like it!!!
Man you proved the best adventures are the unplanned kind, thanks for sharing.
Definitely a good Adventure, and you were prepared. For what you have to handle which is great.
I really want to build a winch into that bumper! Thanks for checking out the video!
@@AutoEdits absolutely, you can do that. Mount it between the frame rails at the same angle as the plastic skid plate. I built a prerunner style bumper and thats what I'm going to do! Again, I love the videos!
If you're going to be rolling solo, here's something that you should have in your EDC bag: ARB 72X10 Orange Bushranger X-Jack Kit.
Great suggestion!
another awesome video!
Amazing video!
Rad video man! I this seems like one of those types of situations where a solid front axle can really show it's worth. Look forward to round 2!
hey cool video and nice self recovery! i go out alone a bunch, done my fair share of digging and rock moving as well haha. have fun out there!
Nice job bud! Great video, this is how I imagined DED was going to be back when it first started but it ended up going in a different direction. I like DED, it turned out to be enjoying in it's own way but this video is the kind of stuff I really appreciate. Thanks!
Loved the western showdown music at 20:50. Brilliant touch!
Love the video. I have a 14 Ram 2wd. Looks like in going to get a 4wd Ram to go with my 2wd so I can do what you do!
Been waiting for this video :) And I have totally been there exploring on my own, take a wrong turn, have to back track. It sucks, but is at the same time fun. Great video!
Thanks so much my friend! I appreciate hearing that!
This was awesome to watch and truly motivating to do the same for myself.
Just found your Channel. Liked and Subbed because of the "character marks" on that Dodge! It shows that it's not a Pavement Princess but is actually used off road! Loved the video. Look forward to more of 'em!
YES!!! Welcome and thank you so much for the support!
Keep up the videos. I love that you use as a real 4x4 and not a mall crawler. Great video.
Thanks!
We appreciate the hard work it takes to make these videos! Great video can’t wait till you go back again. Love your Dodge but imagine if you had a power wagon! Awesome video!
Great video! Keep'em coming. And put a winch on that thing! 😉
HAHA! Yes, for sure I need a winch... Thanks dude!
Awesome video! It's great to see full-sized trucks out there on the trail.
Get some lockers and a winch for that big-boy...I can't imagine it was fun to hi-lift your truck out of that tough spot.
Howdy! Thanks so much for the shout and appreciating the truck in action! Yes... lockers, better axles, and a winch at some point!
That was tight. I enjoyed watching.
Awesome! Thanks!
Jason, I enjoy all of your videos, but this one is very special. Despite the wrong turn and the challenges that came with it, you pushed on, kept the cameras rolling, were not ashamed of defeat and didn't hide any of it. I have had numerous adventures like this that start with a goal and end with limping home, but hey you did it. Got your beast of truck in the deep, broken and battered, got it out with just the tools you brought along, still camped the night, and still made a great video for your viewers. But now I don't know if you should attempt it again in the Truck so the truck is undefeated. Or just use the Jeep, they call them Jeep trails for a reason haha
Jason, great video man! I love the longer content. Those Powerstop brakes are killer! They've made a huge difference on my Ram.
No one ever wants to use a highlift like that, but you rocked it.
Let's tuck a winch up under that bumper for next time and get that rear locker installed.
Great vid man!
Looking forward to seeing you conquer the Miller Jeep trail... in an actual Jeep!
I never would of thought to use a widowmaker as a makeshift winch. That's an awesome trick that's going to have to go into my box of solutions for oh crap situations.
Thanks for the longer video :)
I'm so glad to hear you can make it through this so I can do more!!!
time for Rock sliders!
I remember wishing i had sliders when we got locked into a level 8 trail in my 4runner. ...oye glad we even got out of there at all after sliding up the 5 foot cliff haha. Great times getting lost over our heads!
Adding powerstops to my Yukon today for my birthday also. Great videos!
YEP!
Another great one Jason! Won't forget how you inspired me to get myself a JKUR. Keep these awesome videos coming I look forward to them every time.
So awesome to hear from ya! I hope you get many great adventures in your Jeep and thanks so much for the support!
Great video, thank you!!
Hey! Thank you!
I love this truck :) awesome video as always
I really like this dang truck as well...Thanks so much!
Really enjoyed your trip,thanks.
Thank you!
Never 4 wheel alone, brother... thank you for the vid!
Especially a trail you haven’t been on before
Awesome episode as always I hope u r safe with all the fires!! Come to NJ so we can go off-roading...and still not sure why your show is not on motor trend on demand
I’m good... thanks so much for the thought!
Great video! First time subscriber and I to have a Ram 1500 5.7 but 2 wheel drive only and I hope you keep on making videos using your Ram truck! That’s inspires me to try new things with my truck and gives me ideas on what modifications I can do to my Ram! Can’t wait for your next video on the Jeep trail using your Ram truck! Peace out ✌🏼 from Big Boy Frank from Texas!
Awesome video
Great video, it goes to show you anything can happen on the trail . Also, you don't have a film crew to help you out of situations when the going gets ruff. My hats off to you good Sir.
Well dang... thanks so much for the awesome comment and taking some time to watch this silliness!
love this truck and the vids man !
SOOOO Glad to hear this! Thanks for the support and watching... I really love this truck as well... big things coming for it soon!
nice vide sr, good thing u have lockers hope so helps alot amazing video really nice video
Thanks 👍
oh well.. what can I say?! Liked and subscribed!!!
Howdy and Welcome!
Man Jason this is fun I like this dirt thrapy
That was awesome man! Truck is looking and sounding beasty! At least you got to enjoy some trail coffee the next day 🤪!
Thanks so much! I do love the way the Flowmaster exhaust sounds... very rowdy. Trail coffee was the highlight for sure!!!
Been watching your videos since the wj! Love eachb video you make and I learned a lot from watching you
Another great video, you do a great job creating these. Motivating me to get out there and 4 wheel.
That is awesome to hear... hope you enjoy your adventures!
I know this video was a year ago, but man this was fun to watch. Awesome dude, awesome truck. Thanks for all the content
Thank you so much for checking out and taking a minute to comment!
one man crew. Impressive!
Thanks!
Hey, if you aren't lost, you're not having any fun. We got lost 3 times in 1 day last week around the Grand Canyon. Circle back and find a way! Good times
Great attitude!
After watching this I will take my Ram off road tomorrow. I need some dirt therapy as well. I’m always on my phone lol. Great video btw your content is 🔥 like always.
Number one rule to offroading: Never go alone 😂
Truth
Really good . Make more !
Going wheeling in an unfamiliar area with no "buddy" + no spotter + no GPS + no winch = a recipe for disaster. Glad you made it out.
Keep making these videos - just try to be better prepared!
Man only your videos keep me engaged for 35 min lol thanks for the great content! Also you should bed lined the truck so you don't have to worry about all the custom paint additions
Misadventures are sometimes the best adventures.... Although MJJ isn’t the toughest I know plenty of people who have bad experiences up there. Even one guy who rolled his Jeep 4 times down the side of a hill. Great video none the less.
I'm sorry; but, I laughed a lot; while, watching the video. Kept me on the edge of my seat. Heading to Miller JEEP Trail in October. You're welcomed to come. At least you won't be alone; and, there's safety in numbers. Let me know.
Thanks for the invite! I'll see if the schedule works out because I do want to get back to that trail.
I'll have a better idea of WHEN, in the next couple of weeks. Shift-bid at work, is next week.
Some sway bar discos could make all the difference in the world for articulation and in turn traction... not sure how it goes on a full size rig but its like night and day disconnecting the front sway bar (and deleting the rear all together) on my little old jeep. Lockers too!! Great video
Great video man, grew up wheeling those trails but have to say I did not recognize any of where you were until the very end mad me miss just going up and getting lost up there for the day or two.
I do love it up in those mountains... thanks for watching and taking a minute to share!
Love the videos .
Thanks dude!
As always love the videos. Ur show should be on motor trend on demand with the rest of ur buddies!
HA! That'll never happen but I TOTALLY appreciate the support from awesome people like you!
Looks fun, I'll join you next time 😁
Sounds like a plan!
Very nice ride :)
Coffee=magic in a cup? Yes, yes it does!
Full size, nice.
Heck yes!
Great series you inspired me to take my 07 ram to the local park and I had a blast
That is awesome to hear! Thanks!
What an awesome adventure, love this new series! Glad you made it out okay , and I'll admit I was pretty nervous watching! Maybe take a buddy next time? By the way, tons of super picturesque shots. That truck looks awesome on the trail
that looked like a hell of a adventure
It really was! Thanks!
Awesome!
Glad you think so!
Dang Jason that got a little hairy but you the man... gotta hand it to ya for the perseverance. Awsome video and hey don't worry bout the trail scars " she'll buff out"
Cheers bro keep the vids coming.
HA! Thanks so much for the support!
Definitely earned your "stripes" on that trip!
I see what you did there... and like it!
I’d say the point goes to solid axle rigs, which sucks because I love these 1/2 tons.
Can't argue with this at all.
Awesome road trip I know it didn’t turn out the way you wanted but sometimes you learn a lot from trips like this one. Definitely get those front axles repaired. I think it would have been easier in the Jeep. But nice to see you take the truck.
Looks fun and I wish I had more trails for my full-size truck.
It was fun and I plan on more adventures in this thing!
Hey buddy great video! You definitely need more drivers with you i would definitely hit the trails with you out there! 👍🏽
Thanks! I'll let you know next time I go out there!!!!
Hadn't seen this series till now, I think it's a great idea! I always enjoy your Jeep videos, this one was terrific as well. At the start of this video I was like "yeah, I wanna get a fullsize!" then halfway through it I was like "nah, you don't want a fullsize" haha. First time I've seen this truck and action and it was impressive for an open diff, IFS rig...up until the breakage anyway, but that as somewhat expected I bet. That Hemi sure sounds mean, too!
Next video up in my YT feed is CV axle repair! Gonna watch that one now :)
Thanks so much for watching and welcome to the channel!
Dope Man!!! U got stuck on the way back ain’t that a some bs lol.i wonder how the Jeep would of done!!!! Good video
Without your dog ? must have gotten lonely...
Really Cool adventure ! Truck sounds great and did well. Be safe and keep em coming !
I know, I must get her out on the trail with me soon! Thanks so much for saying hey!
Good f times man what adventure!
It was pretty great!
Always my favorite channel to watch! Where's your puppy dog? He should of came for the trip! Your channel always inspires me, and gets me even more excited for my next project or trial ride! I cannot wait to see you do the locker install, because I am planning to install lockers on my Ram for the first time. I have been doing a lot of research, I'll just take my time and enjoy the moment doing it!
Love your video that was a great job I get jealous looking all these great Trails I live in Virginia so we have limited 4 wheel drive trails around Yorktown Virginia
That's a bummer but I would like to get out to that part of the country someday!
Truck sounds nice
awesome video! bummer you didn't make it to miller though, where the sign says yellow jacket trail you go to the right and that will lead you back down the bottom of the valley to a camping spot, from their you head up the face of the other mountain and thats miller. Lucky you didn't run into any locked gates many of them were locked when we went up there a few weeks ago. apparently they close the trails for the winter season but nothing some bolt cutters can't solve lol
You just made a good video on "Why to never go wheeling alone" :p good thing it's only the ram that you banged up ;)
