  • Yep, this little gem has been in the same family from new, but not any family..... MY family!
My Grandad bought this new in 1998, and I was with him when he bought it, and when he picked it up, having driven a 1980 Volvo 340DL previously that he'd also bought from new.
In 2009 he was unable to continue driving and my parents took it on as a spare car/runabout. In between it also spent some time in Greenwich where my brother used it on and off.
Finally my parents decided it was time to retire it from daily service, and it was offered to me for the price that the scrapman offered.... £150.
I will of course be getting this back up to show standard in due course, but for now i'm just enjoying being back in a Rover.

I can’t wait to get cracking on it. Doesn’t need a huge amount, mostly cosmetics.

Bought a new one in 1998, 214i. Anthracite. Had it 11 years.

Excellent. Must have liked it keeping it that long.

@@NeilsCarsAviationTravel Tbf it was reliable. Bought it from the Rover showroom in Weybridge, Surrey before it was taken over by Honda. The only major thing to go wrong was the head gasket blew at approx 65k miles. Oh and the central locking on the drivers side seized up so you couldn’t turn the key to lock the doors.
