I Took a CHANCE on a Cheap Mondeo 3.0 V6 Ghia X Manual - I May Have Got it WRONG

  • A couple of months ago I saw a friend on Facebook was advertising an interesting Mondeo on behalf of a friend. Although it had some issue, it was a rare 3.0 V6 manual that wasn't an ST220 so I enquired further, and a deal was done.
Fast forward 2 months and I suddenly remembered one morning that i'd bought (and partially paid for) a car, and it was due for delivery in a few days.
This is delivery day.... but did I make a huge mistake?

That's a great car you've bought! I have same color (Platinum Metallic) Mk3 Ghia 2.5 manual, so I love this model - best Mondeo generation ever

Check the metal coolant pipe that runs along the head of the front bank just above the exhaust manifold. These pipes are prone to developing pin-holes which could explain the coolant loss. As it drips under pressure onto the hot exhaust, it will evaporate before you can locate the leak.

Thanks. The car has gone to a guy who has a few Mondeo V6 so hopefully he will sort it.

Yeah 2 heads, and it’s an engine out job. Planning to do a bit more investigation as I’m not entirely sure about HG failure.
Either way, I’m probably going to move the car on as I have other projects that need my attention.

They're junk, the worst Mondeo. The best was the Mk4
Rear subframe looked good. GM make a better V6

@@robertgascoyne8194 I've owned four MK3 Mondeo's, and four Vectra C's. The Vauxhall's were far better quality, and felt a lot better made. The Mondeo's did handle a lot better though
