I replaced Mundorf Silver Gold caps with VCAP ODAM’s in my Pure Audio Project Classics crossovers. The ODAM’s are outstanding. Smooth warm sound and improved sound stage. If you are experimenting I highly recommend the ODAMs
Thank you for sharing your experience with the VCAP ODAMs. I've heard they offer excellent performance with their smooth, warm sound and improved soundstage. However, as you've noted, they can be quite costly, often upwards of $150 per piece.
At Shinjitsu Audio, we have a philosophy centered around providing the best cost-to-benefit ratio for our customers, particularly those who are more cost-conscious. That’s why we typically use Mundorf EVO Oil caps, which offer a great balance between performance and price.
Of course, we completely understand if you're experimenting with high-end components like the ODAMs. If you prefer to use these or any other capacitors, customers are welcome to purchase them, and we will happily credit the cost of the standard Mundorf EVO Oil capacitors towards the price of your Horn One or Horn Two. This way, you can customize your setup while still benefiting from our system.
EVO is more open but darker. Probably best for jazz.
The Mundorf MCap EVO Oil capacitors are widely appreciated in the audiophile community for their dynamic and transparent sonic character. Reviews highlight several key attributes:
Enhanced Dynamics and Transparency: Replacing standard capacitors with EVO Oils often reveals greater dynamics, improved midrange clarity, and enhanced transparency. Many users note a "livelier" and more engaging soundstage.
Natural Vocals and Instrumentation: Vocals are often described as rich and natural, while wind instruments gain a realistic edge. The EVO Oils contribute to an overall convincing and enjoyable listening experience.
Imaging and Soundstage: Improved image depth and instrument separation are frequently praised, providing a sense of space and clarity, although the EVO Oil caps don't quite match the performance of Mundorf's Supreme line.
Tonality and Brightness: Some reviews note the EVO Oil caps as slightly brighter, with an emphasis on the highest treble frequencies, making them ideal for adding sparkle and air to a system.
System Synergy: Performance varies depending on the system, with the EVO Oils offering significant improvements over entry-level capacitors, though they require proper pairing to achieve their full potential.
These characteristics make the Mundorf EVO Oil capacitors versatile for various genres and systems, particularly those needing an extra touch of clarity or treble emphasis. However, as always, results depend on the system and surrounding components.
@ Excellent response.
Mundorf definitely superior, more separation and colourisation. Atleast in my humble pile ear 😊
I tend to agree with the previous post that Auricap has more clarity but to me the Mundorf is slightly smoother. I wonder in longer listening sessions if the Mundorf would be better for most. Clarity is great for critical listening. I guess what I am saying is it probably depends on your taste and equipment.
Auricap xo is more musicial than mundorf, smooth and natural,I also used on the tube amplifier
Agree with that statement. At first Mundorf seems more detailed but on further auditioning the Auricap XO is more revealing without that false sense of detail which is actually contrived.

Our reply to his comment: Thank you for the reply. The Auricap is quite balanced with extended detailed treble. I do find it to be a bit "boring" however. Its not that it is wrong in its presentation its just that the treble is a bit soft. The clarity cap for me is not a contender. Its soft, lacks dynamics and is just not in the same league as the Mundorf or Auricap. In the end I choose Mundorf due to its clarity, dynamics and forgivable slight brightness.
Yes
Best xo wrapped in a single lump in copper foil
Inductors that are close together interact and distort the signal.
