    I been binge eating for almost 40 years and as I started intermittent fasting and then once I did a 7 day fast, I was able to have a reset and change my life. This amount or longer of a fast makes your “will” so strong.. When you are addicted, if you love life, you just have to get fed up with your life so much that your will takes over. But you also have to love life and yourself, or you won’t find yourself worthy of the change that you truly deserve. Love to anyone seeing or reading these words! You are Blessed

      @@drawitout Thank you. I did well, as far as my energy and mental state. I did prep for it because I was intermittent fasting for quite a few months prior too and so it wasn’t as hard in my system. I drank water, strait coffee, and strait tea. I also would put lemon juice in my water here and there and also acv. I consumed salt once a day, as well as magnesium and I didn’t have any potassium supplement, but I will next time. I ate avocado to break my fast and then I waited an hour before eating a reasonable meal of a lean grass fed burger. I felt I was pretty safe from refeeding syndrome, considering I had been taking salt. Next time I will exercise more throughout the fast and do a harder workout at the very end before I eat

      I find her to be very vague (serving size vs grams??? How many grams in a serving???) and uses general terms, basically selling a product that really is nothing new. She is saying eat a variety of foods with high nutritional value in moderation, no refined flour or sugar, and move your body. Not that I disagree with her but nothing new. Relax and learn what your body is telling you. Typically eat a little and move a lot. BTW: Isn’t honey a natural form of pure sugar that natives and animals binge on regularly?

    It takes a lot of will power and self-control to hold back from eating sugar and fattening foods. I tried an experiment and didn't eat any sugar except for bananas (natural sugar) for 2 months and lost 20 lbs being almost under weight. But I felt good! When I took one little taste of jam (sugared), I was hooked on sugar again and within 2 years, gained 11 lbs back. The brain is a challenge with one wanting or not wanting food.

I am now doing a lifestyle of low carbs and that’s from fruit and veggies and no sugar. I will never drink again nor struggle with even thinking about it but I know this food thing will be some work on my part. When I go food shopping I take hours reading labels etc. I do care about what goes in my body! So, far I have healed my mind and body!

The more support you have the more you will be able to resist the negative influences of others around you. See the comment below too by Corpus Perez.

    • @eslavicky4432
      @eslavicky4432 Год назад +6

      I’m 37 and have had decades of binge eating. Through the years I tried and failed miserably at getting healthy but I never gave up (even when I felt like I did).
      Deep in my heart and soul, I couldn’t accept living with making bad health choices. Since a little girl I experienced high anxiety which I believe catapulted the disorder in order to cope. Later the depression came and I took on more addictions (drinking alcohol, smoking & drugs). I lived like this for a long time but knew it wasn’t serving me any good. It was “comfortable” to indulge but then I would feel horrible after so I knew I was lying to myself.
      Similarly to you, I watched many many videos like this to gain knowledge about how to help myself. Always trust your intuition and you will find your way. Over time you will be secure in what you want for yourself and what feels good in your body and what doesn’t.
      The quality of food that’s available to us (fast food, processed food products, soft drinks etc) are highly palatable which makes our brain 🧠 get a high dopamine response which causes us to want more of it. It’s literally like a drug.
      We need to understand that all those foods are not real food!! It’s a lie to keep us consuming more products that line the pockets of these evil companies.
      You are worth living your best life , which means you’ll have to set your self apart from the masses (doing what everyone does) and taking charge of the decisions you make to live the life you will be happy and proud about. You will have to make it very clear with family about your convictions and what you stand for so it’s not a surprise to them about the lifestyle you’re choosing to live. Most people just want to go with the flow and partake in whatever is available. You will have to fight for what you want against people that claim to love you but still offer you things that don’t align with your values. I pray to God that he reveals what I need to know and courage to follow through with decisions that honor my body. Infinite love to you and blessings in all your endeavors ❤

      I just wanna say that it is understandable and expected that you would falter around toxic/addicted people! That environment is actively working against your success, so it is always going to be 100x harder for you to recover as long as you're around them. My advice would be to do whatever you can to live apart from them and just visit occasionally.

      I'm actually following bright line eating and it took a good 5 weeks before my sugar/flour cravings subsided and I no longer felt hungry all the time. After 5 weeks I stopped thinking about food all the time. Bright line eating you really do only eat whole foods - no flour, dried fruit, smoothies or blended fruits, just whole fruit, whole grains, veggies, lean meats 3x per day. You can have small quanties of oil, salad dressing, butter, condiments if sugar is not listed in the top 3 ingredients. No snacking b/w meals, no sneaking a taste even while preparing the meal, sitting down and eating at the table w/o distraction. There are quantities/amount specifics too, but that is in more detail in the actual program. It's strict, but once you re-program your brain you really do stop obsessing about food, no more feeling h-angry if you happen to miss your meal time. You will find peace around food if you strict to it.

    Thank you for saying food addiction is the hardest to overcome. What occurs to me is I get that same hit from eating peanut butter. Yes, I am a recovering food addict due to massive sugar addiction and years of binge eating. I have overcome my addiction to refined foods and eat only whole foods. However, it is scientificly proven that fatty foods are addictive too. And the combination of sugar, fat and salt are what food companies hire biochemists to work into their most popular, most addictive foods. Also good carbs, starches and whole grains are necessary for muscle development. I eat sweet potatoes, potatoes and grains freely and have maintained a healthy weight for 3 years now. I can't imagine changing my eating lifestyle and love intermittent fasting.

      My husband has done the same..cut out most processed foods and fats. He eats starch based Whole Foods and even has sugar on the daily. He is as thin as he can be, and rides his mountain bike daily at a high performance. He is in better shape at 50 years of age than he was at 20. He gets his fat intake from his starches..potatoes, rice, fruits etc...which either some or all naturally have a small amount of fat..it’s all the fat our bodies need. I “imagine” eating this way will keep people from being overweight, having diabetes AND heart troubles. When we eat fat..especially oils, our cell receptors get blocked and that’s what keeps sugar from entering our cells where it is needed. Instead of sugar being taken up by our cells, it all stays in the blood stream causing our body to create more insulin to give the sugar an extra push into our cells, but as long as your cells are blocked, the sugar stays in your blood stream and the insulin keeps trying to come to the rescue. When high sugar levels stay in your bloodstream, this is called diabetes. Without the bad fats blocking your cell receptors, the sugar is used up by your cells quickly and then your insulin stops getting pumped in to your bloodstream. The cycle is finished quickly..no lingering sugar in your bloodstream. And your body then uses that sugar for energy and you feel good and lose weight. I learned this from Dr. John A. McDougall from California. A lot of vegans are overweight and unhealthy because they eat foods containing vegetable oil and also processed foods which contain the same. Dr. McDougall calls it the starch based diet and doesn’t refer to it as vegan because there’s a lot of bad vegan options, like vegan meats and vegetable oils. Dr. McDougall is interesting to listen to and very knowledgeable on the topic.

    6 yrs ago Bright line eating saved me health wise. My Bright line was low carbs (I know, Susan doesn't like that) . So no sugar, flours no high carb fruits, veg etc. Because the carbs push my buttons too, much. Now no diabetes, wt down 50+ lbs. But I realize I still have a problem with "sweet tastes". And I never reached my goal wt. I can't do the big veggies thing due to health issues, but so much of her plan resonates with me. I am never tempted by sugar/flour/carbs, that is no longer "food" to me. But maybe too much of my acceptable stuff. I guess I need to make my "brain go quiet". Welcome back to my life, Susan.
