i am amazed at the quality of information that Lewis acesses through his guest selection. This is leading edge stuff!! Keep going Lewis!!!
Lewis is such a good interviewer. Unlike Tom Bilyau (who seems compelled to try to let the guest know how smart he is), Lewis actually let's this Doctor share her information and asks great questions. Well done Lewis.
I switched over from Toms interview and hope this one is easier to follow 😊
He absolutely does that
Agree.
I don't appreciate his profanity either. That comes from anger and insecurity. He tries to be cool. Lewis is a kinder human and possesses inner strength. Much more respect for himself and his audience. I hope Tom grows up for himself first.
Hmmm. Mmmm. Mmmm. Hmmm. Mmmhmmm.
You're so good at letting your guest speak and asking questions to understand further. Great interview! I've seen her on other platforms and they cut her off and argue instead of seeking knowledge.
🧡
Thé secret to learning is to listen. I know who you referring to. I feel that because she is a female it is hard to get her point across. Just my opinion of course.
I remember when I was 11 years old and I started working out, back in Cuba. Many people used to say that weight lifting was bad for you. They also said that too much protein was bad, fat was bad, sugar was good. I used to eat a lot of sugar 😂😂😂however I never stop working out. Now at 49 I love working out. I’m happy to hear all this information. So glad I found Gabrielle videos and this one with Lewis.
From a prostate cancer survivor, (so far) high protein is recommended and lots of exercise fast walking, running, weight training. Drink lots of water.
🤗
💕💕💕🙏🏾
Thanks. I'm trying to be a PC survivor a well/I'm stage 4
@@leeaniel hang in there. Godbless you.
Gabrielle Lyon is a force in medicine. I follow her recommendation of protein and resistance exercise. So glad she has her own channel now.
👍
I'm a 62 year old female in great shape; strong, good muscle tone, low fat, healthy, tireless and never ill. Today I've had 104 grams of protein: 2.2 grams of Isoleucine; 4.1 grams of leucine; 2.6 grams of valine. I don't eat beef or pork; today I've had mackerel, eggs and chicken as well as field peas, okra, tomatoes, summer squash, onions, etc from my garden. I'm told so very often that I look like I'm in my 40's and I can wear really awesome clothes. Love having my arms out!
Those nutrients are all new. 66 years and 30 lbs overweight and not firm. Tell me how to do this.
I like her but some terms are over my head and confusing.
Thank God for all these blessings.
@@atiphwyne5609 Naturally!
@Delphine Kirkland Glad to hear that, it is very easy to ascribe all one's good fortune to our own talents and abilities. This is a delusion on our part as the totality of our being has a source and unless we are claiming that we created ourselves (a contradiction in terms) it isn't us. In this age of materialism and its natural ally egotism people seem to think they are authors of their destiny, masters of their fate.
@Atiph Wyne Everything in my life is a co-creation between me and my source, that I take care to connect with moment by moment. The source of my vitality and wellbeing is clear to me. The difference between a dead body and a living, thriving being is clearly that spark that some call God. I don't need schooling on that. I know well where my abundant life force comes from. My life has been filled with blessings .
I appreciate the wisdom I receive and give thanks for it before my feet hit the ground every day.
Great advice from Dr Lyon 👍
My great grandmother lived to be over 100 and was mobile and living independently up until the last year of her life. She advocated high protein at every meal, no snacks, good sleep habits, walked everywhere, used the stairs and did push-ups in her kitchen armchair every day 🤣.
I'm off now to buy some good amino acid supplements .. 💛
Buy some steak instead
Don't buy supplements, they lack natural stability which is present in a living being. Eat Beef, lamb and Mutton. Use ghee (clarified butter) and full cream milk.
Don't smoke, drink and eat pork. Lethal shits.
Really neat when folks from these generations "get it" even without all the flood of health gurus preaching 24/7.
@@sunnygirl9691 interesting to also note that none of the centenarians I have met and worked with In physical therapy used any supplements, gmicks or "hacks " to live as long as they did. They just did and wasn't even a goal. Too many gimmicks these days and people who think they ate going to live forever because of some new supplement. All the biggest levers you can pull are free.
@@mikewalkow1860 thank you. 🥩
Lewis, I'm a 67 year old female who used to compete in body building in my 30's. I started working out again, eating and trainging like the bodybuilder I used to be. My legs look BETTER 35 years later. My only trouble spot is this ring of fat around my belly button, not sure what is going to happen to the skin when the fat is gone. I'm training because I thought more muscle would fill in the crepe skin. Makes sense to me...I am so proud of what I have done to transform. Logically I am keeping my weight at 118 to 120. I'm 5 feet and used to compete at 105. I'm one of the littles...but at 120 I look better than I did 120 35 years ago is all I can say. My face has normal wrinkles not "diet face". Great video. I may need to watch again and take notes. TY
Autophagy from fasting will eliminate excess skin.
Jrae great comment! I’m a 53 year old women and I was into bodybuilding in my 20’s now in my 50’s I find it easy to put on muscle (muscle memory I suppose) and I have no menopausal symptoms. I’m curious to know how much and what type of protein you eat in day on average? Do you fast?
Red light therapy helps tighten skin
@@lyndamcallister9460 I'll check that out. thank you!
🎉bravo! Thank you for sharing this encouragement 🙏🙏
I’m 66 and I have lifted weight and ate proteins exactly the way she said. I agree with her
🙌
Hey, great insight! It all starts to click together - insulin resistance, intermittent fasting, walking, and other muscle exercises, the microbiome, etc...
I've done it all, veggie, vegan, keto, carnivore etc... and did it each for years. Anyone going from a standard diet to an unprocessed vegan or keto diet WILL feel better. But long term, living a healthy life, oh you need meat. Missing them nutrients will effect you later on in life. I'm definitely upping my protein and more weights after this video.
How did you feel on the carnivore? I couldn’t sleep and was very tired all the time. Dark eyes as well. I did it for a little over a month. After adding yams, squash and some fruit and more veg I feel better.
Did you eat enough fatty meats? I felt good on it but it's not sustainable for me. Now i keep my carbs low and I try to eat a lot of red and white meat every day
The whole mess in nutrition, it isn´t only about emotions, traditions, and science, it´s also about politics, lobbying, business, big money... And ideology, of course...
This, right here. Spot on!
It's been taken care of.

I loved listening to this lady !! Thank you, finally someone not demonising meat. Having a auto immune disease I have been on a roller coaster ride of unlearning and relearning how to eat. Got to the point where I did not want to eat as was so confused and fed up. Her passion and information is amazing. I have always eaten meat. never red meat though until this year. It is about time people stop feeling guilty for being meat eaters. I love animals and do feel bad but my meat comes from local farms or butchers which keeps those family/ small independent businesses going. Seeing celebs now pushing the bug agenda and fake meat agenda is awful and so depressing. I live in Italy and there is no way I see this catching on.....fingers crossed.
check out Mikhaila Peterson on youtube, she had similar conditions as yours, all gone when she switched to carnivore diet.
My great GrandMa lived 101 years from Philippines. She climbed Mountain @85+ year's old to plant her crops. Her diet was from her crops she planted mostly root crops: taro, cassava, yams and more like bananas. Her grain was from corn her protein was from fish and seashells daily and 5x a year meat bcuz they can't afford. And yes she had very good skeletal muscle before she died😩

I appreciate Dr. Lyons passion. I love how she’s bringing light to our protein history guidelines. She’s very informative & practical. Thank you for another great interview Lewis!
My Fave Parts of the Interview; Minute 28: AMINO ACID NEEDS, Lucene?, 29:29 List of best proteins: eggs, beef, chicken, fish, WHEY; discussion of plant-based diets, RECOMMENDATIONS: Minute 44. 1 gram protein per pound ideal body weight, 1st meal out of a fast, stimulating muscle growth - 40-50 grams protein with lower - equal carbs. Don't exceed over 50 grams carbs. I found the rest of the interview to be equally interesting and fact loaded.. 1:09:00 More recommendations for amino acids. Great video.
Thank you so much for your feedback 🙂
Is the 40 to 50 grams of carbs, per meal or per day?

You can see the passion in this lady’s eyes, great to see
When talking about the blue Zones it’s a combination of factors; movement and exercise, whole food diet includes some animal protein, deep connections with community and with nature and small amount of daily alcohol consumption. We are complicated beings that must continue to strive for balance via mental, spiritual , emotional and physical health.
Love your comment. I feel the same!
The Blue Zones have been debunked. So, lets drop the Blue Zones. They are irrelevant.
Yet it's not appreciated the tremendous amounts of animal foods they eat. All the rest is important, but diet is no small point. The nutritionist Mary Ruddick, having visited the Blue Zones, speaks from firsthand observation of their animal-based diets. I've also written about this in my article, "Blue Zones Dietary Myth".
She is awesome. Great interview, great guest, great host
Intriguing what I’ve watched so far. Wonderfully explained and dumbed down for the average listener. His questioning was great as well.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks for being here!
She’s awesome. I always wanted to get into nutrition but everything I learned, old school, college programs and medicine didn’t jive with my current research or instincts. I’ve ALWAYS felt better and looked leaner with less carbs and more protein. Labs reflected it as well.
One of the best ever interviews in the arena of health and quality of life. Bless you both 🤗💕🤗
Thanks for being here!
Great discussion and new perspective on an old subject. Just when you think there’s not much more to learn about muscle, here comes Doc. Gabby.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Dr. Gabrielle Lyon, I SALUTE YOU!!! Your topics discussed are very well spoken of and very important for the world to hear. I cannot say this enough. The world needs to hear what you are saying. For the Blue Zones, In the Greek Blue Zone my family eat fish and seafood, Lamb, Goat, eggs, tons of Goat/ sheep feta and some chicken with tons of vegetables, moderate amounts of some type of beans and potatoes. Fruits are plenty as well. Tons of Sunlight too. The work day is more productive too. 8-11:30, then 2-3 hours doing personal errand/exercise and then 2:30 ish to 5 or 6 back working. 6pm on free with friends/familly ocean swimming and social outlets for most. Life is very balanced PRE 2020.
💯
@@lewishowes - See the work of nutritionist Mary Ruddick. There are a number of videos of her discussing the Blue Zones. She has visited many of them and can speak from firsthand observation. She confirms what many Blue Zones residents, like Joey Rousseau, attest about the traditional diet of their families and communities. I also wrote about the topic in a long article, "Blue Zones Dietary Myth".

This is so POWERFUL for me today! I have RECENTLY, lost 135lbs since I began on my birth anniversary date: April 16th, in 2020. {before that, I’d lost over 400lbs, from 2010-2015}
My problem, the PAINFUL condition I had/have, that prevented me from hard exercising. {ALL CONNECTIVE TISSUES and joints, SPINE AND ALL, SPREAD, Stretched, or disappeared! Felt like a BAD SPRAIN IN EVERY JOINT OF MY BODY. I could not walk. Unaided, for EIGHT YEARS. 🤣 Really, I STILL COULD NOT WALK, I’d SHUFFLE with the BEST OF THEM! 🤣
Seriously, I could not lift my legs, arms, bend waist, fingers, hands, toes, my legs burst open from edema. My pelvic bones, which were the first to painfully open were the LAST large group TO CLOSE. My feet are last.. STILL bothering me. {ALL of this began with pregnancy.
I am JUST about to start my work out with the use of an old stair machine I own. Previously, I had health club memberships, which I USED RELIGIOUSLY, but that’s before I lost my husband. 35 years married then he passed away in 2019. We were a 1-income-family so, I no longer have the funds for Woman’s Workout World, nor BLAST{wow! I LOVED THIS PLACE! 24/7 workouts! Yay!} or LA Fitness!
ANYWAY, 🤣 my point was, I added red meat back into my diet in 2020.
Start using Zyletol instead of Sugar. Made my own tea blends bay leaves, cloves, mint, green tea, orange/lemon peels, grapefruit, sage, raw honey with propolis, Etc
Thank you for sending this.
However, is she saying it’s too late for older people?
🙌
It's never too late for older people.
Mass inflammation such as yours can be turned around successfully as you have found. Get tested for Hashimotos btw as your symptoms are that of an autoimmune condition.
Remember honey is still sugar. It's not a health cure for anything. Start lifting some weights to get your muscles working for you... Muscles same at 80 as they are at 20.
Get some bands and look at Fitness Blender on RUclips for body weight exercises.
Best of health to you.
Can I pay for your gym membership?
I just started workout out religiously and I’m almost 40! No, it’s never too late. Age is just a number!
Never too late! Just go follow “train with Joan” for insane inspiration…she is incredible and began in her 70s. You got this!

This is so good thank you! I am currently 55 yrs old and I am noticing that I am going through changes. The things that I used to do in my 30's and 40's are no longer working. You have given me the reason why. I have always tried to stay healthy and I have worked out off an on the majority of my life. I see what I was doing wrong! I was not consuming enough protein! I didn't realize how important it is. This next coming months I am hoping to drop carbs and try integrating protein along with my work outs. I am also considering hiring a trainer because I have been having lower back problems. I just want to thank you for this information I believe that health is important no matter what age you are! At my age I realize how important the remaining years I have if I want to stay mobile, active, and healthy!
I would go to amino protein for energy but only drinking 1 shake a day. This is not enough... I was doing it wrong! Now I am doing intermediate fasting and I love how you say that the first meal of the day is so important. I am so excited to attempt to do this for the remainder of the years I have! :)

This is something that you simply feel as truth when you compare how you feel when you eat certain foods and when you train in a certain way.. Trying out things brings you to the truth so no trends or people can manipulate you really if you just listen to your own truth (some can speak your truth so you can relate) ..Muscle training via resistance training and cardio trainings for cardio vascular harmony, nutrition protein and plant based.. Eat what you feel is right and real.. That doesn't make you feel heavy and bad, and its also about the size of portions.. Move and have energy filled life.. Also other habits need to be in harmony with these eating habits next to training: training your mind, your spiritual soul level awareness, knowing who you are, having a true and healthy self image, setting intentions when eating and training and doing other habits and actions that move you toward your life goals with flow and ease as is in your vortex.
I agree 100%
