In this episode of What's In Your Garage we beauty and the beast - 1000 HP Polished Aluminum Shelby AC Cobra. This car is one of the finest specimens of a Shelby AC Cobra I have found. This is a beast of a car featuring a polished aluminum body. Under the aluminum skin lies a beast in waiting. An over the top powerful 12 cylinder 1000HP monster marine racing engine!
This car is spectacular. Serious attention to detail with nothing spared to make this one of a kind car - one of a kind. The engine was pulled from a 46 Foot Fountain Cigarette boat and stuffed into the engine bay. It is all polished as well.
The car is loud. Like real loud. She runs like a top. Accelerates like nobody's business and does it all with a beautifully polished aluminum body. This car just radiates power, class and performance.
Naturally, the owner is very proud of this car and boasts that it is a one of a kind car and no one else can ever have one because the engine used is only 1 of 12 with the others being used elsewhere - in high performance boats.

Recognised that as a Kirkham from the get go, rather than an original 1965. It is magnificent though. My computer screen saver is of a Kirkham Cobra which is covered in gold leaf - yes, for real, someone spent a lot of money!
I ran a Cobra replica for 10 years as my daily driver, after spending 4 years building it. No 1000 hp though, it had about 300 from a Ford Windsor 302 V8 and a Borg-Warner T5 transmission. Weighed in at 1020 kg fully equipped and the power was very adequate!
Hi Stewart. Thanks for watching. You have a very discerning eye. I would love to drive a replica Cobra as a daily. Living in AZ makes it easier than elsewhere however the checkbook currently says not yet. There are plenty here in the Phoenix area though. I saw a gold leaf Cobra at a recent Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale along with a lot of other very cool cars offered up by Superperformance and another vendor, not part of the actual auction. The polished aluminum initially caught my eye. Then that huge 12 cylinder engine looked like the diamond in the setting. I had to schedule a video of it. This is just awesome. I would find a way to drive it more. Probably cover the car in clear vynl wrap to help with cleaning and protecting. Then I would continue to try and tune it some more to help with the mpg.
Hi Romulus. I'm with you man. I suggested ceramic but he said that doesn't protect against stone chips. Clear vinyl would work. Not sure about increasing mpg with tuning. She still has almost 1000 cubic inches of engine pumping 12 cylinders. Maybe though. Thanks so much for watching man. I appreciate you. My Cobra aspirations are less dramatic; I think a FFR with either a crate Ford 460 small block, or a crate Coyote 5.0 (eventually blown or tt) is in the far future for me!

Thanks for watching W P. Yeah, that sound could have been much better, however it was tough to drown out the cockpit, wind and side pipe noise. Pretty sure that is a Kirkham. It’s a reproduction of a 1965.

This one off is way too much car for me. I live next to the beach, bare aluminum oxidized on my ball burnished frame that was sitting in the garage in a few months. It would be a detailing nightmare.

@@truthserum9456 yup. 1100 hp to the ground tends to make this car quite squirrly. He said he can't start in 1st gear because of the torque. I believe him based upon some of our test drive that didn't make the video. I have a tendency to get a bit worried when this light car gets sideways. I actually dropped my camera.. @@musclecarswitheric Hi Eric. For what it's worth ("my 2 cents worth" as we say in Aus) , the over dramatic music was a little too loud in the background and drowned out your commentary. I guess you were trying to emphasise the awesome power of this beast of a car, but something a little more laid back would have been more appropriate (in my opinion, for whatever that's worth).
Keep up the good work. Would love to see one on a 959 if you can (the grand daddy of the modern super car).

I drove a 67 Camaro I sold for a grocery getter, 5 seater, Tesla Performance.
Even a car guy like I am didn't have a clue what you instantly realize the second you stab a Performance Tesla. Nikola Tesla and Elon Musk is to Electric, what everyone of us car guys' would have to become, just to stand on each other's shoulders to kiss Elon Musk's you know what.
If you're into any phase of car, engine, or racing, hell, if you're only into acceleration, put a bag on your brain and stab a Performance Tesla; Elon could reduce the 1/4 with a phone call. That's how far ahead Electric is to any aspirated motor we could build.

Thanks so much. Mr.Carroll Shelby made several incredible cars in his lifetime. I remember as a kid watching the movie "The Gumball Rally" which starred a blue cobra. I instantly fell in love with that car. I really enjoyed the movie "Ford vs Ferrari " which also had a blue cobra that shelby drove . Keep putting out those great car videos. Thx Eric'sGarageAZ

There will never be another one like it - ever. He owns the only engine left. If you could build the perfect machine just for you without consideration of money what would it be? I appreciate the conversation. Plus, I am genuinely interested in your creation. Mine would be some form of street rod.
