The more you drive an ERA, the more you appreciate it. The one thing I tell anyone wanting to acquire a cobra replica is get one with an independent rear setup. We did runs through the mountains when I was back east. The cars with IRS were fine. The cars with solid axles were all bottoming out when the roads got a little technical & rough. Also, don’t over do it with Horsepower. The original 427 cars were at about 550hp. You don’t need that much. Certainly don’t need more. With the weight of these cars, they are already a GoKart with a V8. They will be a thrill at 350hp. Be safe, have fun! Beautiful ERA!
EXACTLY! There will always be some clown in a stripped Tesla or vacume assisted car that will beat everything 0-60, but who really cares? Hard to quantify the fun/scary factor of a Cobra
Anything Shelby touched turned to gold. The man had an eye for the beautiful and amazing when it came to cars. I realize it’s a replica but Shelby by design. It sounds mean and sound gives me goosebumps. Can’t get that feeling from electric.
You know Shelby didn't actually design the body of these cars, right? They were an existing British sports car with a crappy motor that he beefed up with a Ford V8 and better suspension…
A previous boss of mine owned a Factory 5 (I believe) cobra. I've loved cobras since I was a kid. He claimed it was about 800 hp. I raced him while driving my 91 Audi 200 20v (mildly modded). I beat him by multiple bus lengths. Truthfully, I was disappointed. Then I drove the cobra. It was brutal. Zero traction (the only reason I beat him) but exhilarating. The sound, the smells, the wind in your face, the power (plus tye insanely awesome looks).. It demanded absolute respect. If that thing could grab the road better it would have blown my doors off. Such a great car.
Love it! When I was 12 years old in 1977 I rode in an original 427 Cobra. My dream car ever since! Yep, I'm old!!! Lol One of the baddest cars on your channel for sure. Badass
If only British Engineering with an American muscle engine hit the road more. It looks just as fun to drive as the Ariel Atom, just more practical, a different kind of sound, beauty and beast from a different era. Great upload.

Great film work and most importantly, great sound capture! Good job man. His comment on the shifter being located in the reverse of normal position had nothing to do with leverage. The transmission was so far past the driver, it would have been all but impossible to reach it in the normal position. The whole driveshaft was something like 6" long!
I’d definitely rather own a reproduction Cobra that the real thing. The car looks and sounds awesome. The side pipes may want to burn you, but the car wants to kill you. Lightweight, short wheelbase and serious power means you better have some driving skills.
