To be honest most of this album flows sonically into each track, if you listen all in one go. Domodatchi has a great bounce as mentioned, whilst highlighting the friendship aspect. The album as a body of work for me is another hit from RM. My standout tracks would be as the album flows to be honest.
1:22 I agree and I think he did that deliberately since the whole concept of the album is “feeling out of place”. Sometimes, in the songs, certain instruments seem to be “out of place” too but it still fits. I like to call it beautifully organized chaos 😂
This genius album was created during a difficult period for RM. Since being a responsible teenager RM had taken on the role of leader of BTS. He excelled at it, but didn't want it. Plus their come up was horrendously hard. Not just industry sabotage of the upstart outsiders but death threats. RM himself had multiple death threats. No time or space just punishing schedules, constant criticism, and the ever present militairy enlistment looming. All the innovative ways BTS pioneered meant they always felt insecure. It was all an intelligent gamble. Success only certain after the fact. All his effort and attention was focuses on BTS and his role guiding protecting and representing BTS. After the success of his 3 speeches at the UN and the enormous respect he had, his government tried to harness that.Trying to pressure him into being a mouth piece of the establishment. His start came from the underground rap scene, this was all untenable. At the same time BTS no longer lived together needing independence snd preparing themselves for the army. So their mutual support mechanism of laughter affection and goofyness was gone. Is there any wonder this album came from all that. The trouble with making time to self examine... thats when all the trauma hits. As usual we benefit as RM is able to chanel all his confusion of identity and purpose into a brutally honest album that excels at doing what all the best ART does. Allowing us the ability of examining our own feelings of confusion and yes anger by giving form and meaning to the universal experiences of being human..... I will always cherish his albums. I am so happy his experience in the army seems to have been good for him.
Domodachi is supposed to be a sarcastic Thanks Friend I think. So Little Simz is Joon's real friend vs the fake friends that surround him because he is RM. That's my interpretation anyways. I do wish too Little Simz went a little harder. But she still sounds fantastic.

Music production + lyrics (and will make sense with mv) make a *sardonic* song about friends (again, makes sense when you listen to the full album in order.

I've seen so much abt domodachi and my brain has been broken 10 times over trying to figure out everything, I wish we had our classic namjoon stream where he breaks down a bit of each song so I could understand it better lmao. And I think RM was the one who couched Little Simz on that last line in korean. We don't know when it happened but they did meet in person as there are photos of them together in a studio.

I might be the only one who doesn't like Little Simz's part... I like it on its own but it ruins the flow for me and doesn't fit the vibe at all imo. I would have loved her verse in another song tho :) And domodachi is still my fave song on the album.
