Oh, think it’s important to note that Suga is supportive of those who need to take pills/medicine for illnesses or mental health needs, which in S. Korea mental health issues is not as openly discussed or supported compared to the us. Suga’s solo music touches on his own anxiety, depression or struggles which was not typical in the K-pop music scene, not sure about the general music scene in S. Korea, but I would assume there as well. It’s situations of abuse or thinking taking drugs is needed or helps to be more creative or is a flex. Not sure if this makes sense.

Suga once said if you hear this song and you take it personal then thats on you. also Suga and RM both came from a rap underground background they were mistreated and looked down on by the rap underground scene. they didnt respect them because the haters said they couldnt call themselves hip hop artisits if they were in a k pop group. suga has been through a lot of shit and still makes fire music. he writes, composes, produces and comes up with music video concepts. theres so many layers to this group . BTS 4 ever. BTS does all genres. the rappers in BTS especially RM & Suga do alot of the lyric and production of BTS songs with their in house producers and writers too. but the rappers always write their own verses no matter the song and for their own projects. theirs a lot to unravel with BTS. im a metal fan and do not like k pop or rap. yet i love the BTS rap line and BTS. but still dont like k pop or american rap lol

71 year old BTS Army here. He doesn't just rap. Most of S. Korea's rappers are singers that rap. BTS has 3 rappers that sing. Two of the three, Suga and RM, started in Underground Rap in their teens. The third, J-Hope was a street dancer and learned rap from the other two. They all have their own style. The3 rappers have always been the most prolific songwriter/producers in a group of 7 songwriter/producers.

Also, let do not forget that Daechwita was played not only to announce the king's presence but also for marching army. The scene where Suga is about to be beheaded and he calls Deachwita! This group is not KPop they have gone far far beyond that. They are the global artist and very few groups are within touching distance ....We truly hope you will look into their songs with an open mind and get out of that westernised musical box that we have been forced in to. I am so excited and I haven't felt this way since I was a young girl and the Beatles came to America. If he used the money for the bus, he wouldn't be able to eat food that day. Bts are the most humble people I've ever seen. They do diss tracks like this to the underground rappers, for example, who looked down on them because they left underground and started off as idols. They show off in these type of songs to show these people that they've made it. But you have to know, that they are really, really humble and down to earth people. Before bts I actually never thought I'd be able to respect people I don't know as much as I respect them. The company, BigHit entertainment itself was near bankruptcy. Chicken Noodle Soup yes please!!! Jhope also did a collab with JCole called On the Street! Bts doesn’t really fit within Kpop imo. They have their own unique vibe and their lyricism is on a whole different level considering they write and produce and RM is a highly educated poet and Suga’s lyrics often delve into his own battles with depression.

If I remember correctly he paid over 2 million for the song rights, out of his pocket, since it was HIS song rather than a company one. Then he released it for free to us fans - I mean seriously how many huge mainstream artists will do anything like this? It's not the first time either that the boys have released songs for free just for ARMY and it's one of the many reasons I adore them so much.

BTS is very versatile when it comes to their genres . You will find hip hop, R & B, Latin pop, rap, and other genres, you name it. You just watched Suga a.k.a. Agust D ( Suga backwards and T D for Daegu Town being his birthplace) when doing solo work. In the previous video you guys watched Boy With Love, he was the first rapper skipping on the piano in a blue suit, rapping in a cut voice way ( not the fast one you mentioned). He produces many of BTS’s songs. You will eventually figure out all 7 are super talented in singing, dancing, composing, and producing . Suga even produces for other artists and has also been given awards for it. I would suggest you guys watch and react to the Bangtan 7, A Guide to BTS by Taylor. It would help in learning a bit about the group you are reacting to and why you will get certain comments by ARMY in your comments section. Trust me. 💜

7:11 Daechwita is a traditional music that was played by military for the king every time the king enter in any room/place.. so basically as agust d says in the song, he is the king..
The blond caracther is the king, but he is the bad alter ego of the king, as yall saw he killed people, also he have a scar on his face and the king/queen cant have scars bc scars was prohibed for them, if they had one they cant be the king/queen... the black hair caracther is also the king, that's why he also had the scar, but hes the real king, that's why he killed the bad one.
(Sorry if there are some mistakes)

Use of Traditional music/instruments Daechwita is a type of music lot of lound sounds and drum used to announce the army with the Emperor is coming to town. Oh and 2 of his band mates have a fist fight in the background in the market scene which in the MV he caused. It's funny to ARMY (fandom) as they turned up to the set which is a recreation of the royal palace that people can walk around/through. The 2 band mates kind of ended up being part of the MV but they only went to support him.

Yesss. Agust D has one of my favorite discographies ever. Suga is actually the first one to rap in Boy With Luv (the 2nd one was J-hope). I think you should check out more by him (he actually has a trilogy within his music video; Daechwita is the first video, next is Haegeum, then the last video is Amygdala (which is based on his real life)). If you want check out something from the other rappers, i recommend On the Street (Jhope & Jcole) or Chicken Noodle Soup (Jhope & Becky G), or Joke (RM aka the leader) or Wildflower (RM).

Tbh, each member in the rap line have their individual flow that is incredible. As others have mentioned RM and Suga were already in the underground rap community and have been writing songs since 12-13 years old. What makes BTS so unique is you have 3 rap styles and 4 vocal styles. They can sing and dance at the same time and absolutely no lip sync. If you want to see them perform watch any of their live performances especially the Asian award shows such as MMA and MAMA. They are legendary. Their performance at the 2019 MMA is the absolute best. Imagine given about 35 minutes to perform at an award show with an audience that could fill a stadium.
Just to give some background on BTS. Each member was chosen as a trainee by the music label called Big Hit Entertainment which was a small struggling label that almost went bankrupt while the guys were in training. The founder and the chairman of BH told them to write songs about their own personal experiences in life. This was unheard of in K-pop with other music labels in the past and mostly still now. BTS brought a tiny music label to becoming multi billion dollar company and I believe the only music label in Korea to have the multi billion dollar status. In 2021 BH changed their name to HYBE Corporation however BH is a subsidiary company under HYBE and PD Bang (BH founder and CEO) is the chairman. Over the years PD Bang has accumulated 6 Korean music labels, 3 American labels and most recently a Latin label. BTS alone has been averaging 4.5 billion dollars to the Korean economy every year for last 5-6 years. As you may have been informed by armies all 7 members are in the military at this time and will reunite as a group in June, 2025. I loved your reaction and really appreciate you two paying attention to the lyrics.

A Daechwita is played for the coming of the king, the changing of the guard or the marching of the army, all relevant to this song. The music you heard at the beginning of the MV was a Daechwita.
This song also has a deeper meaning as part of a trilogy of songs telling Yoongi’s mental health journey (that’s Suga/Agust Ds real name.)b The other two songs are Heageum and Amygdala.
In short - the mad king is his younger self, paranoid, angry, alone, taking heads. The scar is his trauma, which is many things that happened to him, raw and fresh. The peasant Agust D is himself at the time of the MV, the scar more healed and his 6 BTS brothers behind him represented by the gang. He leads a revolt and kills his rage and pain/the king with a Colt ARMY model revolver, representing the strength he found in ARMY.

You were so close! The gun was a Colt Army 1860 model, implying the fandom, ARMY, is helping his good persona, with the support of his other group members, to keep his greedy persona in check! All of BTS and individual members MVs are very detailed. You can enjoy the music at a superficial level or you can keep watching and discover new things all the time. The executioner are the end is the same person as the butcher in the market place at the beginning, where u see Suga and him exchange a look - they have a deal. There are 2 Suga personas depicted in olden times clothing and more modern times clothing to show the separation. Old persona Suga, the Mad King, depicts his persona where all he wanted was to be successful and rich. Once he achieved that level he realised with the support of the group members (shown as the 6 people with him at the start of the video) and then later ARMY (shown as the gun) he keeps that part of his persona in check. Does he kill the king at the end? You don't see it. This is part 1. The saga continues in his Agust D song Haegeum and finishes with the prequel Amygdala where he reveals what drove Suga yo create his Agust D persona. This trilogy if songs is a real depiction Suga wanted to share with us of his life. There are so many Korean cultural references in the lyrics and MV I recommend the explanation video by DKDKTV channel either in your own time or share the reaction, ARMY love to watch with you.
Just for info: Daechwita is the music played to announce the presence of Royalty and/or an ARMY marching.
Haegeum is a 2 stringed Korean verticle instrument played with a bow (heard at start of song) but also refers to the freeing of something once forbidden.
Amygdala is an almond shaped part of the brain that is responsible for processing traumatic events and responsible for the fight or flight response.
    Great reaction, BORAHAE 💜

I'm not sure how much you know about Min YoonGi aka Suga/AugstD....but as you liked his MV then the following info might be of interest to you.
Suga/Agust D began writing music lyrics and working with MIDI at age 11 and held a part-time job composing and arranging music at a recording studio at age 16.
Active under the name "Gloss" (wordplay on his name YoonGi, which means "to shine") as an underground rapper in his hometown Daegu, He originally entered Big Hit Entertainment as a producer at age 17 and became the second member to join BTS..... At BTS debut in 2013 he was 20 y.o.... he is one of BTSs main producers/songwriters/composers and has over 150 song copyrights.... he also produces for other artists and has won awards for his work.... he is one of the fastest rappers in South Korea.
Suga (SHU-GA.... from Shooting Guard - the position he played in basketball) ...... AgustD = SUGA + DT (Daegu Town - his hometown) Spelt Backwards
Between his commitments as a member of BTS, Suga/Agust D took advantage of time on the plane and in hotel rooms after concerts to continuously produce, write and compose music.
In an interview for Grazia Korea, Suga/Agust D expressed a desire to release the music he wanted to do without having to consider popular appeal or music ranking. He intended to release his music for free in the form of a mixtape to avoid such considerations, commenting that an album "has a feeling of being trapped in some sort of framework" due to the need for company involvement in promotion and advertising. He has released 2 mixtapes - and last year released his first official album (of which he continues to maintain full creative control)
Developing Agust D musically on the base of hip hop, much of Agust D's inspiration for the lyrics came from his own stories of dream, youth, and reality. In order to differentiate his work from that of his work as Suga, he developed the alter ego "Agust D". He is best known for his honest hardhitting lyrics.
Bookish Theories RUclips channel has really good explanations to BTS videos as there is a lot of cultural references and depth to this song that really will blow your mind
This is the first song in a trilogy..... He is a master storyteller.... a fellow army best explained the trilogy as -
Daechwita... ridding himself of the need to prove his worth to others
Haegeum... ridding himself of the confines of modern society
Amygdala... he investigates the inner demons and trauma that started his confinement in the first place.
Suga/AgustD wrote, composed and produced the songs, he conceptualised the MVs and had creative control (working as usual with Director Lumpens (Choi YongSeok) who does most BTS MVs)
    Fun facts -
The gun used was a Colt M 1860 ARMY
Daechwita is Traditional Joseon Korean Royal Parade/Military Music - notifying all that the king is here
Yoongi(Suga) is a member of the clan of the very last empress of Korea.
Daejanggeum Park is where the MV was filmed.... It is a giant film set that doubles as a public historical park where people can come to "experience" old times.
Hope you have a great day💜💜Sending Greetings from Australia

Oh, not sure if anyone shared, but Daechtiwa is actually music played only for royalty, specifically, the King so Yoongi actually had to get permission to use this in his song. Also, as shared, his real name is Min Yoongi, which the Min clan were powerful during the Joseon era and the last Korean Empress was from the Min clan. So Yoongi is descended from royalty and I think there were at least 2 empresses in his line. Actually, 2 other members, Kim Taehyung (V) and Kim Seokjin (Jin) are also descendants from a royal line, the Kim clan, but I don’t know specifically who. There is one other member, Kim Namjoon (RM), but his family is not from the same Kim branch.

Suga (aka Agust D when solo) has gone to say that his songs are not towards anyone in particular -- however, he like to place "traps" in his songs, and if you feel triggered, then hey -- that's on you.
Two of the rappers - RM and Suga - started off as underground rappers prior to joining BTS in 2013, so they have the skills for sure. J-Hope started rapping as a trainee and got help from RM and Suga. There's a saying about the 3 rappers in BTS:
    - RM analyzes the world - more of an old-school approach to rapping; amazing lyricism and wordplay; switches from Korean and English flawlessly
    - Suga (Agust D) criticizes the world - emotional, raw, unfiltered, breath support is no joke; delivery is key
    - J-Hope visualizes the world - more of a modern rap style; rides the beat; able to change his flow within his verses multiple times; ad-lib king
All three have had successful solo projects, but together they are so good -- more recommendations are: Intro: Skool Luv Affair (shows their 3 personalities/styles), Tear (live @ Wembley) w/English subs, Ddaeng, the Cyphers

AgustD is to Slim Shady as SUGA is to Eminem and as Min Yoongi is to Marshall Bruce Mathers III 💜 if you flip the letters of AgustD you will get Dtsuga = Dt (Daegu Town - the name of the underground hip hop group he was part of before BTS, named after his hometown of Daegu) then SUGA (his BTS stage name). 💜he uses “AgustD” pronounced like the month followed by saying the letter D, for his solo mixtape releases and his last album....he said this persona let’s him be more raw and direct.... he uses “SUGA” when performing as the BTS member person. ☮SUGA is short for Shooting Guard, one of his favorite positions in basketball, which he used to play a lot and is pretty good at 🏀 His last solo album D-Day was the last in a trilogy for AgustD so we're not entirely sure what he'll use when he comes out with any future albums after he returns from his military service😅
EDIT: This song was 🔥 in concert last year. And the pistol at the end was an ARMY model LOL - the name of BTS's fandom is ARMY.

I had to laugh when you mentioned Post Malone, because BTS did a Carpool Karaoke with James Corden and there Suga mentioned Post Malone smokes to much 😆
Also because you mentioned J Cole: J-Hope's (one of the other rappers of BTS) biggest idol was/is J Cole and he met him when he performed at Lollapalooza in 2022 and then before they entered the military he did a collab with J Cole called "on the streets" as a goodbye gift for the fans
J-Hope himself doesn't have the biggest rap part in it but he gave the biggest part to his idol and while J Cole raps, he dances (which is a reminder of his earlier days because J-Hope started as a street dancer and danced to J Cole songs in his youth)

While kpop is the mainstream genre of music in Korea of course there is the hip-hop scene and underground rap as well. Actually Agust D (Suga of BTS) and RM came from the underground scene before going into kpop although we don't consider them kpop cause they are in fact bigger than kpop. So they got a lot of hate from the underground rappers for debuting as kpop singers and a lot of these songs are a way to prove themselves as rappers and showcase their skills. BTWfunny that u mentioned Jcole cause Jhope of BTS has collaborated with Jcole for the song "On the street" you should check it out! Jcole is a big role model of Jhope and his first mixtape is named "Hope world" inspired by "Cole world"

13:21 for me kpop is an industry not just a genre, kpop could consist the culture, merch, k-beauty, etc. They could do a wide spectrum of genre, hiphop, ballad, r&b, jazz etc.

I told you, BTS are seven very different artists in one group, they are versatile, they don't seem like they're from the same group, even their group songs don't seem like they're from the same group.
React to "A guide to BTS members: bantang 7" by Taylor, and you will understand a little more, even who the rappers are talking about.

Agust D is calling out all of the Korean underground hip-hop rap artists that called them sellouts for joining an "idol" group. These K-rappers publicly, at a one year anniversary K-rap event, went so far as to call the 3 rap line members - RM, Suga, and JHope - girls, not rappers for putting on makeup and dresses! So Agust D, as does BTS, usually calls out the haters in their songs, but never by name!!!!! But those in Korea know who they are!
Listen to We are Bulletproof pt 2 live performance, Ddaeng, Idol, Mic Drop, the BTS rap trio Cypher 1-4. Their lyrics, while calling out their haters, are always positive in that don't let haters tear down your dreams, believe in yourself! Last song I'll recommend is an Agust D collaboration with (Oscar winning composer/pianist, the late) Ryuichi Sakamoto and WooSung of The Rose - Snooze!!!!! Watch the elisssa fan version, just gorgeous. This is a beautiful hip-hop rap r&b song!

He is what hooked me. Yes, he grimey. He gets the most hate because he fights the “box” the K-pop industry and fans expect them all to be in, but these 7 unique talents are bros and that comes first. A unique Bangtan 7! ❤

Genre of Korean Music, Military yes, but also processional. Like, it's to announce that the King or the General or the Important Person is coming through.

BTS was initially supposed to be a hiphop crew.
It's why it started with RM and SUGA (both fans and students of rap), and j-hope (who was a street dancer).
After they had been grinding to debut, they decided to add in singers and dancers to round out the group's potential and sound.
The seven guys all lived together and helped each other improve their less-developed talents (dancers helped non-dancers, rappers helped new rappers, etc.)
That shift is what turned them into "kpop."
Since BTS blew up, new talent are more often allowed or encouraged to create their own sound and lyrics.
Especially once other companies realized that part of BTS's appeal is that they write and produce much of their own work.
Since they broke into the west by winning a Billboard award in 2017, more acts have been encouraged to do the same, and another entire group was formed with the idea of members being writers/producers.

DO YOU (RAP MONSTER `DO YOU`), RM`FOREVER RAIN`, CHANGE, BICYLE.

daechwita it’s music that the korean old dinasty army would play every time the king arrived but you’re own meaning is also good it could also represent going to war and “the king has arrived” 😅
