    and non of them has the issues that you mentioned.
    Both are very happy with their cars.🧐

      In forums 2018 owners report same issues, sadly, remains to be seen if 2019 owners report the same a year or two later.

    Maybe problem was it is first year production car.
    It's first time I hear that someone had so many issues with LC500

  • @badhobz1
    @badhobz1 5 месяцев назад +5

    First year production issue it looks like. I got a 22 LC convertible and it seems to be fine for the most part.
    On the bright side it looks like no real engine problems just little things and that weird transmission replacement which is totally out of character for a Lexus

    I am really tempted to get one that’s 100k km for like 20% of the initial selling price around 9 years down the road, definitely getting a 2023 or 2024 model

    I agree about the radio. I have a 21 lc 500 performance pkg the exact same exterior and interior colors as yours and this is the only car I have owned where I tend to leave the radio off. I suggest trading your '17 in for a '21-23 model since they perfected all the issues you mentioned with the early '17-19 models. Btw, thanks for pointing out the headlight washers, I honestly never knew I had headlight washers 😂.

      How much more is performance package and what are the specs?

    • @ericdavis2312
      @ericdavis2312 5 месяцев назад +1

      @regnorum the performance package (also called the dynamic handling package on '21 and above models) is around $9500 and provides the following:
      Includes Sport Package (with carbon fiber roof), and adds or replaces:
      Torsen®43 limited-slip rear differential (LC 500h)
      Active Rear Steering
      Variable Gear-Ratio Steering with Vehicle Dynamics Integrated
      Management (VDIM)
      25
      Speed-activated rear wing
      Alcantara®4 headliner
      Carbon fiber door scuff plates
      21-in staggered-width split-five-spoke forged alloy wheels41 with
      polished finish and Gloss Black accents

    • @regnorum
      @regnorum 5 месяцев назад

      @ericdavis2312 Ok 9.5k is nice amount of money but you do get a lot of stuff. Altho as far as I can see not much that will actually affect performance in a big way. But again LC is not about performance that much. Rear wing, Alcantara and door scuff plates on its own are worth it.
      One more thing mate what is the fuel consumption you get so far?

    • @ericdavis2312
      @ericdavis2312 5 месяцев назад +1

      @regnorum I'm getting about 20mpg combined highway and city driving and I am not a conservative driver. I can get as good as 30mpg on long highway trips if I am reasonably conservative and as low as 9 mpg city if I am flooring it from stoplight to stoplight. The performance package is well worth it for the 21" wheels and rear wheel steering. That rear wheel steering is great for pulling into parking spaces and u-turns at low speeds and cornering at high speeds.

      Get a used one, just not one before '20. They fine tuned the transmission and suspension from '20 onward. To me, the best years to get are '21-23. I have a '21 and love it!

    - And here you have it, I’ve had one more issue a few days ago with the rear blind spot sensor bugging on me (fixed under warranty, around 1500 EUR in parts and labor). The car was a launch model, top spec, full history, etc. So, don’t blame the owners; the transmission was replacement by the previous owner :) Anyway, no hating, just wanted to draw a more realistic picture than from reviewers who drive it for a week and claim it as the best thing, which it can be.
    - The interior quality is great, no issues or squeaks after all these miles. I’ve had to redo this review twice because GoPro kept overheating, so might’ve missed a few things. Sorry! Will try to get something better for the late 2024 reviews. Thank you for watching.

    *Customer* - There's a spec of dust on the bonnet
    *Lexus* - We'll fix that under warranty
    *Customer* - The Engine is blown, the transmission is out, the wheels fall off every time I turn right ...
    *Lexus* - None of that is covered by the expensive warranty you're paying for!

    • @autobausspov
      @autobausspov  5 месяцев назад +1

      It's 1200 (Macan) to ~2500 EUR per year for a Porsche Approved warranty that you can extend for 15 years, which means it's cheaper to drive a Porsche than any other German car. Once they even changed ceramics for Panamera under warranty after many years, which was insane and blew my mind. Also, it's far less strict than Lexus which insists you buy all original parts (that are not under warranty) if you want to have Lexus warranty (for the entire car). With Porsche, you can just do break change or anything at any cheap shop for 4x less and still enjoy Porsche warranty for all but the brakes.

      Nope. Year 1 of Porsche 911 996.1, 1999 for USA, was cable throttle not eGas, and it’s become well known they were a bit more torquey and fun. Lexus GSF 2016, year 1, very solid although it’s a bit too stiff when just driving it casually as a luxury car (engine intake sounds, torque vector diff, and excitement those create are very good).

    You always buy a car 2 or 3 years after it has been launched because it also gives time for the manufacturer time to sort out little issues. I know a guy who's had his which was a 2020 model and has 60000km currently on the clock. Not even a squeek or rattle anywhere. He said he's enjoyed his car far more that cars that cost 2 or even 3 times it's price tag.

    The LC500 auto insurance is a major item in car ownership and one for which many Lexus LC 500 owners do not appreciate until after they live with this fantastic car after a few years! The low production rate for this model makes it very expensive to repair due to the scarcity of spare parts vice that of other larger volume car models such as Mercedes, Audi, BMW, and Porsche.

    One of my dream cars. I loved the first edition in that beautiful dark blue with a white interior accented by colored leather trim. It was absolutely spectacular! But they don't offer that white interior with that contrasting colored leather as an option anymore unfortunately, I think it was a launch edition special color. So the only way to get one now is on the used car market and it was a rare option back then too so probably very hard to find, especially a good one that doesn't have a horrible interior due to lack of cleaning or something. But I do like the Olive Green 2024 they have available now. It's a beautiful metallic olive green. I do like the dark blue one too, it's really sharp looking, especially if you get a contrasting colored interior like the camel colored one.

    We humans are fickle type. creatures. In the past times when every American sports and GT type car engine was.loud and thunderous, exhaust noise and high engine rev rpms were everyday normal for every young male in their 20s, muscle cars were not typically noticed, rather it was the mechanically 'advanced' smaller, exotic European engines and sounds that were desired and looked on with envy! Fast forward half a century and now that the American muscle are is the 'rare breed' everyone desires the brute force large displacement n/a engines and it is the quieter European cars that are 'taken for granted' by a lot of enthusiasts. Go figure! We always want that which we do not/not longer possess and desire to possess the things that we have/no longer have! The cycle continues!
