The level of excitement from the bearded guy is just amazing. I don't know the guy with the glasses name but so far your doing an amazing job I purchased my wheels after viewing several of your fitment industry videos. Keep at it.
AYEEE! Thank you again for the support! We would love to see more pictures of your ride sometime on our gallery! www.fitmentindustries.com/add-wheel-offset
Coil overs also enable you to corner Balance your car too. Which is very important for track and even a very nice thing for canyon or spirited street driving.
I just bought coilovers(sadly not from you guys, I didn't see bc racing for a 2019 wrx) and I never thought about prepping them for winter. That's easily the best piece of advice about coilovers I've seen that I'll be sure to follow.
Before either winter or during spring months I usually clean/wipe down the whole coilover with wd40 and then apply anti-seize to the coilover threads and any bolt and nut that ties to the coilovers. Northeast winter snow and salt can be brutal suspension components.
During winter here in PA they throw a ton of salt down and everytime I have to drive in it, the day after when it drys I go to my self wash that uses hot water and I was all the crap right off with the pressure washer. I wash my car every 2 weeks normally and the winter 1 once a month depending on snow. During the summer I hand wash with a foam gun.
Honestly if you get them fully assembled, they arent all too difficult to install. Mine took maybe two hours and I'd never done coilovers before and most of that time was the initial adjustments. Now my car rides better and I don't get body roll on the track when I corner. Great investment tbh. I paid a little more than the budget brands, I run Raceworks 172S coilovers and they run around $2K but they're worth it, come with Eibach springs and custom spring rates
Whatever you go with coilovers, the proper setup is still the best answer. A cheap kit can outperform many higher end kits with proper tuning and driving style. Much like how Takumi beaten many higher performance cars on Mt. Akina!
Quite depends. If your electronic suspension control can have the settings for aftermarket springs, ex: spring rate, you won't really have problems since the electronics can adjust. If you have a fixed system, I don't know. Who knows there might be an 'auto-learning' for the computer to properly control the suspension.
My Coilovers been on my Accord since 2016, and I barely drove the car so my Coilovers never seen Winter, and they are lowered close to a 3 inch dropped at the Front. I'm gonna be purchasing BC Racing Coilovers Extreme Drop, next week coming, and wait for it to arrive to my destination. Then I'm gonna drop the ride height to 2.7 and a 1/2 inch, to 2.8 inch, and the Rears to 2.5 1/2 inch, to 2.6 inch, till I get it to my liking, and not too Low, or Too High look. This is going on a 2010 Corolla XRS, and I'll be storing it in the Winter so my new Coilovers, won't see Winter at all. I'll be driving an old beater with a Manual Transmission definite
Could U use something like duct tape to “weather proof” the treads on a set of coil overs so you don’t have cover them in Petroleum jelly or wd40 or somthing equivalent for water and rock salt proofing. And this would probably make it so you locking collar/nuts can’t back off at all cause they can’t back out over the tape.
How many miles do you have? If under 50k springs should be fine... Shoot, Skunk2 said my 160k Civic's OEM struts should be good so I just went with it. Knock on wood
You guys always talk about lowering springs coils and bags but what about cup kits??? Better then running lowering springs and stock shocks(vehicle depending) and there better the bottom of the barrel coils but lack height adjustment? They also cost more the springs and cheap coils but less the really good coils. It really is a great in between option
Great question, The Cup kits work great but we are working on making an informational video about this for you guys/girls it just takes some time! Stay tuned!
I've seen some cars have shock and spring kinda separate in stock configuration, am I right to assume if I were putting coilovers there the stock spring goes out as well?
OK Alex, you made me do it. Coilovers aren't worth it unless it's a full all out track car. I've driven on them numerous times after/for client installs, but they just don't grasp my attention. I've ran spring/shock combos since the late 90's when I got into the auto scene. H&R & Tokico on everything, ...until this week, I went Koni & Tein. Waiting to rebuild a coilover VS quick swap a shock? ...that's a no-brainer. I'll even track my daily's, they handle wonderfully. The #MiniAirplane at 7:07 was cute.
Cory Bennett you haven’t experienced quality coils or springs if your only used Koni or Tein lmfao . Use some Ohlins or KWs or Fortune Auto then say coils aren’t worth it
A question I have is that I’m considering a ‘96 Honda Civic hatchback as my first car and would like to lower it a bit Would I get lowering springs or coil overs I live in Australia so Winter isn’t going to be as big of an issue as in the states
Fitment Industries so while I’ve still been on the look for my first car I found a BMW E46 (320i) for roughly the same price as the Civic Again when it comes to lowering it would I pick coil overs or lowering springs? (Sorry for asking again it’s just that I put that question before I found the E46)
I’ve had a wishlist for wheels and suspension for a while but affirm is so bogus and doesn’t approve me, doesn’t even approve my friend and he works with custom offsets 😥is there another option for financing
Me I LOVE lowering springs. For a car you will drive a lot get lowering springs they will do the job and save you money and this to... No company will sell you lowering springs that will make your car unsafe to drive. An that's so piece at mind.
No you can't. Any sort of "home cutting and welding" compromises the integrity of the coilover. If you're interested in a coilover with your own selection of springs, buy a shock and a spring. They're sold as separae units. For example, your choice of lowering springs and Bilstein shocks.
Should I buy coil overs right now for my MK6 GTI? They would be the solo werk S1 coilovers. Apparently they right close to stock but there is a lot of adjustability which is what I want. Should I just stop waiting and buy them? They are only 500$
Luciano Messina you get what you pay for. Just buy and experience. We can’t tell you what and what not to get. For the car scene you have to experiment first hand to know the patterns of companies
They should last 70k-100k, but if you buy shit products then they only last 30k. For example, Tein recommends getting a service overhaul every 30k miles. That means sending them in, waiting for them to be inspected, and paying for a rebuild, and waiting for them to be sent back, every 2 years.
I would love to see a video on the history and manufacturing process of those crazy rwb Porsche wheels and those wild old school jdm wheels with those huge lips. Love the videos keep it up.
Are you FU€*!NG kidding me!!! I leave my STI engine bone stock, no access port, not even an AOS, because I don’t want to void the warranty. And your telling me I already did, because I’m on coil overs?? 🤯🥺😖😭
Juan Ortiz yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I do all the basic maintenance myself ( oil change, brake pads etc..) so if I need something big worked on I guess I could just install the OEM suspension, it’d be a pain in the ass tho. But ultimately worth it. I’m going to call the Subaru service guys and ask them about it.
No you didn't. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act protects you for specifically this. Dealer is going to have to prove that the failure was related to your coilovers. And don't call the dealer about whether your warranty is voided. Their best interest is that it is voided so that they don't have to do the work. Maybe they're good guys, but don't rely on purely them for the information.
If you have the patience and skill to dodge potholes and bumps... I live in Los Angeles with some of the worst streets in America and it is pretty bad... You feel the damage to your wheels and suspension...
@@sinnbaby6733 even if you raise it back to stock height it won't be the same... That is the Con of lowering your car with coilovers, you gain performance but lost comfort. Just be careful and dodge potholes and bumps if you can
So I installed Bc racing br coilovers on my 2019 wrx Everytime I go over a small road imperfection or speed bump at about 20-35 miles and hour the rear springs pop or sound like they expand. It is noticeable in driveways and I do not rub at all. When one side is compressed and the other is extended when it happens and it happens on the side that’s extended anyone know why?
I think that's something that'd be the lack of rear pillow balls or grav bearings; I can't remember exactly which upgrade addresses that. It's not technically bad, it's just noisy.
Should be fine. I've heard that BCs without the rotational bearings can be noisy. A few guys in my local subaru club complain about them making quite a bit of noise on their VAs
They are made more for comfort and for someone who is looking for ride quality ( Daily Driver ) Where with Coilover's people are looking for more of going low and maybe being more aero dynamic for being a race car driver 😂
Would you guys recommenced I get a digital caliper to really dial in my suspension? I’m getting some Coilovers and I installing them for the first Time next week
You certainly could, However I would recommend if this is the first time installing them, Maybe have a shop install it correctly and bite the bullet on the bill maybe!?
