    Wow awesome video. I’ve seen people use q-tip swabs to add micro foods. Not sure my wife would appreciate using her makeup brushes.

    I’ve found the fry do great in my planted pleco grow-out tanks without really needing to feed them directly. Apparently
    there is plenty of food floating around for them.

      With the plants it provides tons of microscopic food for them

    This is great viewing. I’ve breed some forktail rainbow fish, and have praecox I’m growing up for breeding. Eventually I’ll get to them bosemani sized rainbow fish 👍🏻

    Another way of breeding these fish is by moving a pair (or two) to the breeding tank with real plants and pull them out after a week or so. The eggs will hedge in the breeding tank and you can grow them out there.

    Great video. Cant you just let them breed in your regular tank and just see what happens.

    I use a new mascara brush. It is shorter and fits into the first bites bag. I just store it in there.

    This same basic process will work for any of the melanotaenia or glossolepis based rainbows. So things like turquoise, praecox, trifasciata, irian red and millennium to name a few. You can also switch out the golden pearls for green water and they will have a free constant food source instead of having to keep them on a feeding schedule. My numbers shot through the roof when I switched to green water.

      I have been debating using green water for awhile now since I'm over run with fry. Thanks I'll try it out soon!

  • @cmsjustin
    @cmsjustin 3 года назад +2

    Since they take about a week to hatch, could you swap the spawning mops weekly and put the entire mop in methylene blue water to hatch? Or will they eat the eggs if left in the tank for a week.

    • @JadrenAquatics
      @JadrenAquatics  3 года назад +1

      That's how some people do it but I believe the longer you expose the eggs to the parents the more likely they are to eat them. Then they get a taste for them and keep going back more often to that mop.

    I plan to breed these and multiple other fish in my breeder tank my tank is looks the same as your and is also a 20high. I am cycling it now but when you don’t have fish in there how do you keep it cycled if you could respond or maybe you might think it’s a good video idea. Thanks so much I love your videos and thanks for all the informal videos you make

    I have four babies! An accidental discovery. Currently they are a week old and in a hard plastic tub floating, I want to move them into a floating net so their water quality won't deteriorate. I'm doing small water changes to get the old food out. I just want to to be sure that I won't lose them in the net!
