Mexican Coke isn’t better because it’s got more sugar in it, it’s better because it has cane sugar in it instead of high-fructose corn syrup. It is less sweet, in fact.
Omg, thank you for the shoutout~😆 My universe is right again! I'm so glad you guys took the comment as the bit of joke it was meant to be. Thanks again and please keep up the great work!
I know this won't be considered for the next podcast because it is posted on the RUclips channel. That said, my political 'moment' of the year was when there was the debate in the Commons about punishing Boris Johnson for lying. And a Conservative MP stood up and said she admired and respected Harriet Harman (who'd just lost her husband) who was being vilified in the Tory press because she was chairing the committee that punished Johnson. The Tory MP - Laura Farris - broke all the horrible tribalism that has defined British politics for the last few years to just be kind and respect a politician who did her job well in the face of vile factionalism. Farris's kindness reduced Harman to tears - and it reduced me to tears as well. Despite everything that's gone on over the last year, it reminded me that there *might* be hope for us as a country.
We have all updated our phone 7 times and there hasn’t been a problem with automatically retaining what’s app messages for the last decade or so. It is such poppycock.
As construction estimator in USA, the whole phrase "show me the bodies" is horrifc mentality. We improve technology and methods to keep everyone safe, including the company. Who in the fuck wants a lawsuit if something like that apartment tower happens?! YOU FIX CRAP SO YOU DONT PAY MORE ON THE BACK IN AND STAY IN BUSINESS! what a stupid phrase/mentality. They should be ashamed and fired/forced into bankruptcy
Not to mention that even just in an economic sense it's extremely wasteful. Needing to renovate buildings to bring them up to code is WAY more expensive than having a serviceable code in place before it's built, so politicians dragging their feet on tightening building codes not only means people dying unnecessarily, it also means the industry is going to waste money refitting buildings that people had been led to believe were safe since they were up to code. Renovating five years worth of buildings would be a lot cheaper than thirty years worth of buildings, so every year they put off regulation is more of the country's money being flushed down the toilet on buildings that are either going to burn down or need to be torn down later.
There is one very good reason they don't have backups of WhatsApp messages: all good criminals know you change your phone every 3-6 months; that's what a burner phone is
Jason Warriner is a fantastic hero of the week- thanks to him and all the volunteers who give love and service to the most vulnerable in society, at a time where politics seems intent on making their lives worst. On the note of sugarcane, i grew up in rural Australia and there was a sugar farm right next to our school. Sometimes the farmer would let us kids take some small bits (and other times children would steal some sugarcane 😅), and it was just so delicious!
Growing up poor, when eating out at restaurants was a rare-ish treat, I believe explains why I still crave the McFood offerings from McDonald's to this day, even though it's like eating from a bin and I full well know it
It's so frustrating when politicians say "I don't remember, I don't recall." I just assume your lying. OR you really don't remember, and in that case you probably don't have the mental faculties to lead in this capacity. Get out of the way.
I used to snack on raw red onions. As you know, Indian food is onion heavy. I used to sneak bowls of minced onions from my grandmother's kitchen and hide in a corner and devour them. On the bright side, I kept annoying people at bay with my onion breath
Interesting tidbit: The UK Commons votes Aye or No, the Canadian Commons vote Yea or Nay. As for Whattsapp, my octagenarian father just managed to reset his account WITHOUT changing phones and lost his messages and contacts, so I'm sure it's possible, but Sunak should be handing his old phone to the proper folks to archive what's needed.
I find it strangely believable that a man who can't work out how to pay for a coke by waving a card over a sensor keeps accidentally resetting his WhatsApp account when he changes phones.
Right-wing AG Jeff Sessions: I do not recall Right-wing PM Rishi: I do not recall Right-wing POTUS 45: Person. Man. Woman. Camera. TV. I think I see a pattern. Maybe they should all get the 'Does grandad need to live in a home?' test BEFORE they get into, and regularly when there are in, positions of power?
You know, if it was anyone else other than a Tory PM, I might have sympathy for someone having as shit of a week as Sunak has had, but considering all the shit he and his party have done to this country, I've got less than 0 sympathy for him.
Nish swearing vociferously does great things for my spirits and mental health. Reminds me it's not just me that feels like that.

It was a shock the first time I tried American Coke. It just tastes... wrong when you've been bought up on the non-HFCS version.

I love this show. 💕💕🌟🌟✌️✌️
It's almost like there are strong parallels between the Grenfell disaster & the Rwanda deportation policy.

Great podcast as always.

How many phones has the PM had since 2019/2020? Is he swapping phones weekly?

We were just discussing the Grenfell inquiry this week and wondered what had happened to it. It's taken a fair while
The difference is the type of sugar…not corn syrup
As a ginger IRN BRU has been a foundation of my existance.
1:28 Because it's real cane sugar, not high fructose corn syrup.

I'm sure Sunak said he couldn't recall doing anything dicey in the 2008 crash, so this is just more of the same nonsense. He is not a good liar.
Still no Grenfell report. 😳
I have literally and figuratively been shaped by my childhood snacks

The phrase "regulations are written in blood" is supposed to be a warning and reminder, not a best practices for sociopaths.
hey, anyone else having trouble playing this on spotify?

1:47 lol Mexican coke is superior to the point that grocery stores in California are just straight up selling them. (But only by the bottle)
Apparently, "mexican coke" now sold in the us has diverged from the mexican coke sold in mexico. It's now effectively a premium alternate formula.
@@jsrodman whaaaaa, wait I think I heard about this 🫠
We got them in Ohio too, I think any Kroger owned chain does
New number, who dis?

I ate sugar cane in Missouri, USA in the '50s and '60s.
