At first I thought Sunak was just a rich git with no awareness of the plight of his fellow man. But at this point, it kinda seems like he also has a humiliation fetish.
Not to imply you're not worldy, but he's a pretty boy that married into an extremely rich family last I checked, a humiliation kink is essentially required (don't date rich people unless you're also a rich person, they don't see you as human).
Actually…I’ve started wondering if the people from ex colonies are purposely destroying the UK from the inside? Patel, Sunak, Braverman, Badenoch…all from families of people subjugated as ex colonies.
There is an irony in describing Sunak as a Pound shop farage as Farage himself is a pound shop Enoch Powell who was in turn an pound shop oswald Mosely.
I always love how oddly specific it is. It's not just getting thrown out a room or a building, but specifically thrown out through the window. Always makes me think there used to be a variety of words for all purposes (thrown out a window, thrown out a door, tossed down a stairway, etc.,) that have been lost to time.
I'm starting t think that Sunak is actually a comedian playing a really bad politician, we will find out in 6 months he was secretly Steve Coogan all along
You know that segment from Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway where they get celebrities to do weird shit via a sort of ear piece? I can genuinely believe that's how Sunak is running his campaign.
He's like a reverse Zelenskyy. Zelenskyy is a comedian who became a rather impressive politician. Sunak is a politician who became a rather massive joke.
As a US listener, Nish's idea of just wrapping up the conservative party and letting the center right restart resonates very strongly - we just need the entire batshit MAGA section of the Republican party to be gone, and the rest can start over. I think Nish's hope has a lot stronger chance of actually happening, though. Good luck!! Also, thank you for always providing such a lovely show with a great combination of important information and absolutely whimsical silliness. You're both such a delight!!!
That a council of nations would be "Leader of Scotland", "Leader of Wales" and "Prime Minister" is kind of a tacit admission that Westminster is a government of England, and the rest (no rep from N.I.?) are just colonies under English rule. If the UK really wants devolution, surely there could be an English assembly on a similar footing to the Welsh Assembly and the Scottish Parliament, with a first minister for England, and Westminster (or replacement parliament) and prime minister serve as leaders of the combined nations.
45:10 During this observation by Nish, I felt compelled to suggest/recommend the 2022 film _RRR._ Brief synopsis: It is a historical fiction film about two Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, their friendship, and their fight against the British Raj. It's all kinds of fabulous.
I agree, Labour has been dreadful regarding Palestine 🇵🇸 and the drift away from the left has long pissed off the Scots. Using indyref funds for a by-election isn't that bad in comparison
I'd like to point out that the healthcare pay rises that were postponed by the unDUP refusal to go into stormont still at the time of this video have not been paid
stop saying 'will'. It is not a foregone conclusion! As we know from the brexit referendum and the recent US elections, it can go either way and we shouldn't take election results foregranted!
The conservatives like to think of themselves as "bootstraps" and "when life gives you lemons..." people, maybe someone could sell them on the name Lemon Party? 😁
Hi Love the show 😊 Suella Braverman is currently my MP now I can say quite proudly I never voted for her and now because of the way the constituency map has changed in my area can’t and never would have. We have some other conservative going for the seat but am hoping he will not get in. Braverman came to my local area when she was campaigning for the last election and even then had her nose so far in the air it as stupid. She only spoke to those who looked wealthy and ignored anyone who looked less so. I am hoping Fareham and Waterlooville see sense and don’t keep her this time round but we will see. She never did anything for the local area or even bothered with in outside of campaigning. So here is hoping for a very strongly held seat to finally change from blue. On a side know I think you both look amazing and always make me laugh so thank you ☺️ (ps. sorry for any spelling mistake I am dyslexic)
I am a Kiwi ( new zealand) I love your show lived in UK there for2 years ( 1986/1987) and in East Redford cant wait until July 6th for your show great guests ESPECIALLY the woman guests so much smarter
Why is devolution only discussed in the context of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland? Shouldn't England have politicians who give a hoot about their region? (Yes, I know Westminister supposedly does this, but.. does it?)
Kristine here from Canada. Thanks for reading my option for WTF. I was bemused by your take on 41:02 But emphasis is on the second word- Oh *Spare* Me. Best.
National Labour's attitude to Wales does not seem very promising with the parachuting in of candidates who have little to no track history with the region.
Labour are doing the same in Scotland. For the last 10 years there's been only one 'Scottish' MP. They were wiped out after Labour joined the Tories and LibDums in the anti-independence campaign. They're parachuting candidates in from all over England... We're very good at holding a grudge and we have long memories. Around 50% of Scots want independence and both Starmer and Sarwar (the branch office manager) have said no yer nae havin it, despite our 2021 Holyrood mandate... Labour won't get a majority of Scottish seats! Saor Alba gu bràth mar bu chòir 🏴😉🦄🥃🇪🇺
I quite like What The Nish... in our house, we used to refer to The Mash Report as The Nish Report :) Oh Spare Me is excellent, I'll be borrowing that as my new stock phrase for the rest of this election...
Missed the point on immigration. The reason people are voting for reform and the right more generally in Europe isn't because of spending, its because big cities don't seem like they are a part of their own countries anymore and people are worried about their culture being lost. I speak as someone from Europe. There are benefits, 100%, but looking at it in terms of only spending and services is missing the mark.

43:50 Correction on Brianna Ghey. To make it worse she was a transgender girl, not a woman. Sunak was mocking a murdered child and her mum.
At first I thought Sunak was just a rich git with no awareness of the plight of his fellow man. But at this point, it kinda seems like he also has a humiliation fetish.
Its seriously difficult to argue with that analysis 😅

That would explain so much.
What between him, Dizzy and Cruella, now Starmer I'm thinking maybe it's a parliamentary fetish.

You ordered rivers of blood; you got puddles of milkshake.
I get the feeling three of them would have hated decimalisation, so would have struggled to be the ten shilling version of their idol.

Particularly pleased to hear Rhun ap Iorwerth. Good points well made.
He's also an incredible interviewee, that Eurovision question was so well answered for a total left of field oddball question
‘Farage’ for bin juice stems from a Mark Thomas show. I think it was a public suggestion or came from a public vote.
Ah! I first heard it from Johnny and the Baptists' song "Farage"

Farridge: slimy brown liquid in the bottom of the bin. I'll use that. 🤣
Watching Rishi Sunak fail epically time & time again makes me extremely giddy & tickles my inner petty self😂
I'm probably biased here, but I felt Rhun has come across quite well in interviews. I would be interested in a non-Welsh opinion of him.
If Coco wants to make more awkward moments, she should just sign off every episode or interview with "smell you later".
Ahh… Tony Blair. A war criminal says what?
