  • In today's video, I'm talking about what I'd do differently if I was to start up a golf RUclips channel with what I know now! Starting with buying a vlogging kit, vlogging camera, vlogging Audio, vlogging software etc etc
I wasted money buying one of the best starter vlogging camera's, the Canon M50! Find out why..

I have a RUclips channel but I film indoors so it's easy. I tried filming a round of golf the other day and OMG it's so hard. I now have a bigger appreciation for golf channels.

I have been watching your golf channel from the beginning. At first it was all about keeping golf alive during a very bad time we were all going through. What a great job you did. Rules with joule’s and your walks around the golf course talking about golf was spot on.
Your approach to golf then and now was positive fresh and very much on point. Off the back of watching your channel I have picked up many golf tips and made changes to my game that has helped improve my game. Thanks 😊
    Congratulations on your success.
    Cheers ⛳️🏌️‍♂️

As a subscriber who has enjoyed watching your development (introduced through James’ channel) I’ve really enjoyed seeing your video content grow and improve. I know you’ve questioned in the past if this was worth your while and I am, personally, so glad you’ve continued. The rawness, accents, slang etc are part of what make your content authentic (and not part of a paid endorsement). Please keep doing what you’re doing.

congrats on your first year on YT. I have really enjoyed your company, help and advice. You and Matt Fryer have helped me drop to 16 from 24 over the last 12 months. Thank you keep up the brilliant work Gaz. Can I just say like most 'working class' blokes you are your own biggest critic, go a bit easier on yourself be critical not harsh!! I love the accent but as my ex Divisional Officer told me when I was in the Navy, as he could not understand the speed I spoke and my 'Geordie' accent: slow down and enunciate, then slow down a little more. You don't lose your accent but if you slow down people from Surrey may be able to understand a Northern accent lol

Second tip ditch the music subscription and You, James and Jules record your own song, instead of straight down the middle, it could be left, right, bogey bogey. More stuff in 2022 and beyond.

When shooting my RUclips videos I find I often speak slowly as I'm thinking about what I'm saying so I will speed them up a little bit when necessary/possible without it showing/being obvious in the video. 😆

Videography, photography etc is similar to golf equipment really. You can buy the best of everything but if you don't know how to get the best out of it then it's a waste. Learn how to do the basics first and then add little bits extra as you get better.

Nice little tour through west Yorkshire there buddy. Used to live not far from the Blacksmiths Arms, wish I still did tbh. 😂
I've found the best way to shoot videos is a gimbal, with a little flexi tripod attached. Keeps the image stable while walking, you can wrap the legs round trees or golf carts, and you can flick between forward and rear facing shots with ease.
When we get back into it, this is the set up I'll opt for, plus better audio. It's so important.

Do these lavender mics smell nice :) , Lavalier my friend, not lavender. The capabilities of a recent iphone have improved to the extent that unless you have someone else present doing the filming with a dedicated camera it is always going to be the better option. Sound is always the hard one as you are filming outdoors and balancing unwanted noise, wind etc, with enough wanted noise to make it sound good . I use a zoom H2 portable audio recorder ( new model is the H4N ) when producing my own content which is sports related although then I have to synchronise audio and video in post which takes longer. That content by the way is not related to the account this comment is posted from, just in case anyone thinks I'm looking for free advertising. Keep being yourself, fake personalities are not pleasant viewing. - Mark

Some good points. Nowadays you can get such great quality 4K footage just from mobiles. I too also have a small cheap tripod off amazon (with a small Bluetooth button that starts/stops the video) which I can attach to the top of my trolley and record my swing out on course. Top tip - I close the tripod legs together and slot it down into my umbrella holder set vertically. Works great, and you can still push your trolley round with the camera on there.
