    Great video Dave. Definatly the hardest part is just geting started. Once you make the first video you will want to make another one better. No matter what a person does there first video will be their worst. You just have to get over that first bump. I also started on a phone filming amd editing everything. Now im running 3+ cameras, a drone, and editing in davinci resolve on pc. Makeing my golf channel has been one of the best things I've done for my golf game tho. It's got me to play coast to coast in America and I've made so many friends on this platform.

    These are great tips! I just started a RUclips golf channel and the first video actually took off well but since then it seems to be slowing down. It had me feeling discouraged however you are right this is just a hobby. I need to set better expectations and just have fun and try and get better at this.

    Great tips Dave. I remember when you took a break and then came back. It was very quickly after that when you got monetized it seemed. Kudos for seeing it thru the rough patches, slow growth and hair pulling moments we all have on this platform.

      Spot on mate! After that break I just said to myself, it’s now or never, give it a red hot crack and if it doesn’t pan out I can say I have it my all. Seeing the growth you had through last year is the inspiration to keep pushing!

    Some really great tips Dave! I also started out using my phone. My first edits were done on the basic windows editer, after I learned the basics then moved onto Shotcut, then I outgrew that and current use Davinci Resolve. I learned so much along the way. I think the most important part of starting a RUclips channel is just to start.

    Brilliant video Dave. One thing I have learnt recently is you need a snappy thumbnail to draw people in. I haven't subscribed to tube buddy and quite frankly I do not have the computer skills to create stuff.
    When I do go out and film I'm aware that I need a still frame for the thumbnail so I try and find a situation where I think this is going to be the thumbnail shot.
    As to talking to camera. I can do that now just as long as there is no-one within 400 miles of me. I'm just so self concious it's impossible!
    Great vid.

    • @metalheads-golf
      @metalheads-golf 2 года назад +2

      What I do for the thumbnail is to play the vid and pause it on a shot which I like enough. Thereafter I use a snipping tool to create the picture and then edit this with the text. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻

    Good stuff. Have thought a lot about starting a golf channel or just adding golf to my general channel (that's the first question: Dedicated channel or just add to a general channel?). Unfortunately, dedication is not one of my strong points. Also, what camera did you graduate to? Do GoPros work? Do you need a wide lens? And maybe you should do a how-to on shot tracing. I made one half-hearted attempt and it came out looking half-ar**ed, of course. So, a follow up vid or two would be good.
