Hey there --> I don't know if you remember me, but I was on "Born to be a Star" with you and hearing you talk about it brought back all those anxious feelings, haha. Such a bizarre experience! Glad to see you doing so well with your music these days. :-)
if I tell my parents I really want to become a kpop idol, my dad will literally make sit down and he would lecture me for like an hour on why I should get a “real” job instead of doing this kpop stuff, and my mom makes fun of kpop idols anyway and she also hates the idea, so at this point, I’m just really confused. I also have more trust issues with my family than with other ppl in general, it’s hard, but I’ll just try.

@Watashida shourai sohyun from Orange debuted at age 12.There is also Shu Yang from boy story who debuted at age 10.I wouldn’t be surprised if a 8 year old managed to debut at this point.
I actually understand what you're talking about. Most African parents don't believe in a career in showbiz. It wasn't until this year that my mum was ready to admit I was talented at singing. Before that she'd say it was a waste of time. You can imagine my shock when she told me that. I decided to start out small. I already submitted an audition tape last week to one of my country's TV Channels. I haven't heard from them yet, but I really hope that even if I don't, i'll keep moving on. I know I have a lot of work to do in terms of vocal strength and growth, and I think that is what I am going to focus on to make myself better. I really love singing and my goal is to go on a world tour before I die (if God wills it). Meanwhile, I am posting covers on karaoke apps and having fun. Thank you for making this update. I appreciate it.
@@prisciloperson8476 one of my favourite Kenyan artistes still lies to his dad about singing part time yet he is doing it full time and goes on tours with his bandmates. His parents still ask him when he's getting a "real job."

What you said about even if people can sing really good the fright or lack of confidence can kinda ruin their audition really got to me. I remember I auditioned for vocals at this local Fine Arts School and I was so terrified during my audition that my legs were violently trembling and my voice cracked at one point and I immediately started crying once I exited the room. Not long after, I auditioned for a bigger and harder school for a 2-week summer discovery program that covered the whole state and they were only accepting 12 people out of hundreds to audition. I was much more confident and though still nervous and shaky, I didn’t actually think I did bad. I made the audition and while it made me upset i didn’t make the other, I was ecstatic and a bit proud to see I improved and made an even harder audition. I’ve always had a lack of confidence and tend to self loathe a lot, but seeing a huge inspiration like you go from repeatedly failing auditions to become the outstanding singer/rapper you are today gives me more confidence and motivation to continue my passion! I love you Grace, keep killing it!! 💛💫🔥

Idk what I wanna do for my future atm. I plan on being a writer, but it's very possible for that to flop. I've been thinking about being a kpop trainee/idol since singing and dancing is something I enjoy (though my self esteem is so low that I don't really do it in front of other people). The general thing I want to do in the future is to make other people happy, so being a writer (I like to create story ideas) or a kpop idol looks enjoyable for me to do. I know being a kpop trainee is a very harsh life (intense dieting, strict training, tight schedules, contracts dictating my life, etc.), but if that allows me to be closer to making people smile and feel a little better, then it'd be worth it. Stuff like animated shows and kpop made me feel happier even for just a moment, so I wanna give that feeling to others as well. I don’t know if my parents would be okay with me wanting to be a kpop trainee/idol (they probably will tell me no) (aka, not going to college in 2 years right away), so I’m kind of hesitant to tell them. Right now, I’m trying to figure out when I should do what. I know that 16 is an ideal age to start training under a company, but I’m pretty sure that my parents would want me to at least get a high school diploma (I do as well). I’m still trying to figure out the best way to audition without using up too much money prior to graduating high school (I live in the mid-west, oof. Nowhere near California), and if I should take a one year break between high school and college to find a company. If anyone has tips, I’d be very thankful.
I also want to audition for a company but I don't know which one, if you're in the US some companies have global auditions. You can audition in some of those. There is also online auditions where you take videos of yourself dancing/singing and introducing yourself. If you pass those then, you have to go to Korea for the 2nd audition. But for the global auditions, they only happen like once a year or something like that.
Hey, you don't have to pay for the flight. You should do a online audition and if you're selected. They will pay for all your things, your visa and flight anything you buy.
So, I'm half Chinese and I was telling my mom about the global auditions JYP were holding that my friend suggested I should try. She "politely" disagreed. She started telling me how the celebrities now are really hard workers and all that ( she was indirectly telling me I cant sing). And now 4-5 months later I put up an English Cover of BTS Jimin's Promise on my channel and she LOVED IT and started off like "you have such a beautiful voice, if we get a trainer for you we can fix those flaws." and started planning things and I'm like ...Where was all this when I wanted to audition. Also, I dont know how to dance XD its not that I suck. Its that I actually dont know. But there is hope for me. I really wanna try and achieve this dream for myself.
@@ishtheswiftie13 I actually auditioned in 2019 for the girls global audition for BigHit (now known as HYBE) I never got called back but it was certainly a push out of my comfort level and a great experience in person🥰
@@ishtheswiftie13 not as of now :) I’m in a bit of a period where I’m not sure what I want to do. I thought it was singing but over the years it’s been a bit discouraging.
So yeah for people looking for a tactic to convince their parents, this is what worked with me: Sing a lot in front of them (show them you're talented) Record videos of you singing in front of them Always express how much you love singing Try to explain to them the genius training system of K-pop trainees And finally write a song for them in which you express your "future choice of career" confidently (do not ask for their opinion so that they take it for granted)

Watching this video definitely has encouraged me. I have been auditioning online for a while and have been getting discouraged and down on myself for literally everything. But seeing you able to proudly talk about times you didn't pass or felt you messed up made me think-- It isn't the end of the world if I don't pass and there is no reason to be so hard on myself. Sometimes it's not so much about the fall as it is about how you get up and dust yourself off... Maybe I just need to be more out there and get out of my comfort zone. Thank you so much for the video, as I think it helped me be a bit more confident. Have a nice day and stay healthy and happy.

!! ATTENTION !! What my research says for trainees for online Audition is, send your videos, audio clips and if by chance you get selected in online Audition they will send you tickets for South Korea (on email) and there you have to give 2nd round audition in South Korea as she said in the video but if you failed in that you need to return to your country with your tickets company will not provide you tickets to return back to the country..

I just love your channel, you are such a great person 👌🏻
i also want to audition in yg, its my dream company huhu
edit: but sadly, we’re just an average family, we can’t afford plane ticket )”-;

So yeah for people looking for a tactic to convince their parents, this is what worked with me:
Sing a lot in front of them (show them you're talented)
Record videos of you singing in front of them
Always express how much you love singing
Try to explain to them the genius training system of K-pop trainees
And finally write a song for them in which you express your "future choice of career" confidently (do not ask for their opinion so that they take it for granted)
