      +i hate google True! Many trainees are pretty much kids, and taking them to a surgeon who says "you look okay but you'd be beautiful if you had a different nose, different eyes, a different chin/lips/cheeks/breasts" is going to affect how a trainee feels about herself or himself.
      There's huge pressure to look a certain way, and most trainees won't risk saying "no thanks" to surgery because when so many people train and few people actually debut you want to have the best chance of being chosen for a group or a solo career.

    • @tmdsb2655
      @tmdsb2655 5 лет назад +37

      Well you gotta understand that looks=money, and people knows that. If you wanna even survive in the industry, you’re pressured to get surgery by pretty people around you, and those earning more than you. I think it’s the industry as a whole that forces idols to get plastic surgery.

    • @delilah28100
      @delilah28100 5 лет назад +21

      @@tmdsb2655 but they should also think of long term effects, ps needs retouching every once in a while esp if you get older. Like, that means that they'll be in their 50s and still has to do regular injections or something so that their noses won't look like melted wax.

      She's having trouble speaking because her lips are inflated with fillers that will slowly leak into her body (watch her try to say the word "feminine"). When her lips have deflated, she can decide whether to have more injections and add more fillers that will leak and be absorbed. Procedures that make it harder to speak are a great choice for a rapper!

    I would love love if you talked about what happens behind the scenes a little bit more. For example - where do you get clothes? How do you find hair salons and is that a manager's job? And also can you make money on the side by not just doing music like promoting stuff and what do you do with old clothes you don't wanna wear anymore? I know this is all over the place but i hope my point came thruu. Loved the vid as always ✌💕

      Yeah like after debut wear do all the outfits from music videos and multiple performances go?
      And wear do they get the clothes from in the first place? I know some artist clothes are famous brands (like bts wearing gucci or whatever) but for other idols who might not have that kind of money do they just got to regular department stores or do their company have personnel designers that make their clothes.

    • @abc92800
      @abc92800 5 лет назад +70

      Jr Smiles im pretty sure the brands "lend" those clothes to them. it's part of promotion. the idols are not paying for those clothes they wear on red carpets/MVs, it's the artist's agency/management who deals with the styling and accepts clothes from designers. or at least that's how it works with western celebrities.

    • @daviddacus8168
      @daviddacus8168 5 лет назад +17

      joejow11 artists usually get clothes from actual clothing brands because artists can promote the clothing in the videos. Some have a stylist who makes the clothes from scratch and those are kept with the stylist. After that the idols return them cause uhh if you don’t know runway clothes are thousands of dollars. Also an artist could most likely not have another job on the side the main focus as a trainee is to work with your vocals, dance practice and facial exercises like acting in front of a camera. In some agencies you are suggested over and over to get surgery. So it’s like you are pressured and it’s not right like she said they tell her she’ll look more beautiful.

    Since Kpop idols having plastic surgery is a pretty regular thing, why is there so much denial or defensiveness that comes from the idol or their fans when people point out what they have gotten done? I guess they really like the idea of natural beauty, but then that sort of ignores the truth?

    • @mmjjnn0
      @mmjjnn0 5 лет назад +77

      Agree on that.

    • @deanneb6925
      @deanneb6925 5 лет назад +236

      Honestly though, it’s so dumb. There are idols that I love to death, but have obviously had work done. But if anyone even insinuates that they’ve had anything done, people swarm like wasps and insist that they’re “all natural”. I think it comes from the misconstrued notion that “the people I love/stan are perfect and have no flaws”. They’re humans, of course they have flaws. Very few people are born 9’s and 10’s, most of us need a little help to get there...

    • @daviddacus8168
      @daviddacus8168 5 лет назад +31

      Joy Cha under their company they probably aren’t allowed to address it. Their idol is there to perform only and if an interview talk about the music mainly.

    • @daviddacus8168
      @daviddacus8168 5 лет назад +7

      Joy Cha fans are defensive because they like the idol. Makes sense, if you like someone and another person points their nose is ugly and if you’re loyal to them why would you not be rude to the “another person.” Or deny it’s true even if your friends nose may not be ugly but is different and isn’t as appealing in your own opinion.

    I think we focus on looks in K-pop too much. I don't blame idols or other entertainers for wanting plastic surgery if it means the person will go further in your career. I don't like how Korea seems to have 1 standard of beauty. So everyone's trying so hard to look the same or trying to look the best version of such a restrictive standard.

      I want to say my opinion without offending anyone but... Its seriously difficult to fall in love with new kpop artists and their image becaude its so... standardised? If that makes sense? Like a lot of the idols look similar due to surgery or a specific look the company wanted. One of my fave groups is exo and they all different, they all have their own look and its unique whereas a few newer groups they look very similar and maybes it due to the surgery or the fact they've got for specific looks.

      South Korea is a highly homogeneous and homophobic country, that’s why.
      It’s okay to make change a thing or two in your body if it will make you feel confident but if you become addicted to plastic surgery, then it becomes a mental issue and also they are alot of cases in which a patient died upon doing alot of plastic surgery at the same time.

  • @coldebleus
    @coldebleus 5 лет назад +835

    I don’t plastic surgery shame but being forced into getting one doesn’t necessarily mean having a gun to your head. If I had people telling me I would look better if I changed some of my facial features repeatedly and I was treated negatively for not fitting into their beauty standards while others weren’t, I would definitely be pressured to get one. Even if I don’t necessarily hate how I look. So these agencies know wtf they’re doing...
    I do appreciate how open you are about this tho and dark hair looks bomb on you 😫💖

      Very sensible comment.
      Not exactly the same but I am a tall woman, as a child my mum got pressured to stop or slow down my growing, repeatedly. My mums friend who is a nurse outright said I was a head & shoulders taller than all the other kids at her daughter's birthday party & she knows of medication to slow my growth. The friend said my mum should take me to a doctor & ask for me to be made shorter. When my mum politely declined & said doctors were tracking my growth & I was just tall not a giant, she said it was selfish of my mum as I would get bullied!
      My mum repeated the conversation to two other mums at school, one said it was a perfectly sensible suggestion & the other one was shocked & said don't do anything, she is healthy & God just made her tall.

The "visual" is usually the first to walk on the red carpet or they get more air time on shows compared to the others. I've even seen the cameraman film the "visual" while another member is hitting a high note while performing?! With idols getting plastic surgery, sure they can be fine themselves. But remember they are still idols and many little girls and boys looks up to them. But sending the message that it is okay to go under the knife due to peer pressure/criticism is wrong. It sets unrealistic expectations and lowers self esteem. Episcally kids look up to them even more so than their own parents. We should send the message that no matter how you look, you should find the confidence and own your look. It might take time, but it is the correct message.

Tbh.. when you do the same makeup, same surgery Asthetic.. everyone looks the same. Thats just what happens when stuff isn't celebrated. You can do surgery to make yourself happy and confident. There is no hate here, but plastic surgery really redefines what normal is. It makes something unrealistic to most, the definition of beauty. Its a concept capitalized on by plastic surgeons and other lucrative businesses and its easy to get sucked in. when you get something done not only are you are bowing down society's definition of beauty, but you are also changing the bar for other men/women.
    A girl with thin lips 50 years ago would never have felt insecure. But now with more celebs endorsing lip injections and trends being established the pressure to succumb has heightened. This is not a hate comment against grazy - but just to let anyone who is super insecure about their appearance to not be so. the most beautiful thing in the world is self confidence - i have seen and experienced it first hand. the sexiest men and women to me are those that exude confidence with the way they carry themselves - it has nothing to do with how they look.
    lots of love xx

      boo I know that Korean TV uses some sort of filter or something to make people lighter. There’s this one photo where some male idol was light-skinned but his reflection wasn’t, so their photos are edited too. Also I’m pretty sure they have skin lightening products in Korea, but I don’t know if they’re that effective or not.

Regardless of whether you did it or not, thanks for being so honest and informative!

    for the double eyelid thing, a lot of asians are born with it. and it's not that koreans or asians want to look white, they want to look like the other asians who were born with those features naturally. Same with a thin tall nose or a v line, there are women and men in asia naturally born with those traits, and that's perceived as attractive to them, so that's why people who are not born with those features, want to look like the other asians who have those features. Just my two cents. It makes me angry that ppl assume that ALL asians have monolids and a square face and medium skintone...no. lol we have different features and different skintones too. And I do think monolids are beautiful, but that's not what other Asians think, so THEY choose to change those features. No one would point at the kpop idols and go "wow that's a white girl" they didn't get surgery to look like a white girl, they got surgery to look more symmetrical, glowy and more like the ideal Asian woman (again, I don't think there is ONE ideal look, different features have their unique charm, but this isn't about what I THINK, it's how THEY think)

      Yes,there are asians (chinese/korean/japanese)with double eyelid, high cheekbone, etc,,but still a lot dont have that. Infact,those who have big almond shape eye,double eyelid etc would often consider as attractive, or they would be praise for that feature. White caucasian,,dont give a shit bout that feature,,because majority if not all have that facial feature

      @@cancermoonclub yeaaa... If you go to Vietnam or Thailand tons of people have big eyes with double lids. Lol. Asia is not just Korea, you're right. Where I was from (border of China and Vietnam) the most common feature is large eyes and tan complexion. That's what I'm trying to say! :') ever since my little sister was a baby ppl have loved her big brown eyes and she always looked like she was out in the sun.

    how do idols cope with periods? it must be difficult to perform in those days, with the probability that you could bleed your clothes. do girls use pads, tampons or menstrual cups?

    • @allieschwarz8023
      @allieschwarz8023 5 лет назад +9

      Am sure each girl makes her own choice about that! Pads are a disaster; personally, I stopped wearing them pretty early. I don't know about Idols, but most performers power through their periods: they perform no matter what, and if they have to take Motrin or use a heating pad for cramps they do this during their own time.

      @xsx7xsx No, treating idols like that is illegal. They do get put on diets and are asked to exercise regularly, though it's not too extreme. The only way their periods could stop is when they are going through EXTREME malnutrition or stress. None of the idols that I know of are that malnourished.

    OmG, I really misunderstood the last video, I thought there was much pressure behind it from the companies. -
    But I still find natural the most beautiful and plastic surgery not. Never mind how much better it technically looks, because you can see that it’s not real, not natural, and that doesn’t look very nice. The confidence to like yourself the way you are is much nicer than however you can look with any kind of surgery or alteration. Just my opinion.

  • @Beandal
    @Beandal 5 лет назад

    You look ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS Grace and I love that you have a positive opinion on plastic surgery. I think plastic surgery is one of the best things ever invented. There are many people ( like me) who need it to gain confidence or to fix certain areas that aren't considered attractive. I have been bullied a lot cause of the way I look ( although I don't suffer from a deformity or anything, just that my face and body aren't visually attractive to others and this impacted my life in a bad way) and this truly ruined my life and I have no self esteem or confidence in myself, suffer from severe depression and I'm sure there are many people with the same issue. I personally believe that looking better can truly help those like me begin to love ourselves and save our lives . As long as you aren't addicted to it or put your life at risk to have more and more, it's fine. Korea has amazing plastic surgeons and it's one of my greatest wishes to get a consultation and plastic surgeries from a real professional, but sadly it's too expensive for me. Everything looks so natural and beautiful so it's hard for me to believe when idols get it because of how stunning they look.

    I never understood plastic surgery in the industry. If getting surgery is to look good, then what’s the point because everyone will know the only reason you look good is because of the surgery and will completely disregard your looks as a whole. Most people would rather stan idols who love their natural selves because fans like the “mistakes” that are there. These “mistakes” are what give an idol their character and makes them stand out.

    • @streetreport07
      @streetreport07 5 лет назад +3

      "Most people would rather stan idols who love their natural selves"... if that was the truth then plastic surgery wouldn't be an issue. You can't really win in korea. If you get surgery you're gonna be called a plastic monster but if you don't then you're "ugly".

    *Skin Bleaching is a huge thing in Korea and Asia PERIOD*
    *Skin Bleaching Agents: also known -- Skin lightening, bleaching creams, whiteners, skin brighteners, or fading cream. Form: Creams, pills, and Injections*
    A lot of products (in Korea) have key components. Only idiots think it would say "bleach". Glowy Skin vs Skin lighter is way different and not the same thing.
    Also, Skin Bleaching & Lightening agents are the same things its to break down pigments. *Please don't comment if you have no idea what you are saying on that subject.*
    Just know if you do use these forms below you will forever need to use SUNBLOCK for the rest of your life. Using a Skin bleach will cause your skin to get darker faster than it ever would. That why *Korea Beauty products* have SPF in 99% of them. Most Asian countries use a white cream which to make them more "pale/whiter".
    *Naturally Safe*
    Papaya
    Citrus Extracts: Orange & Lemon
    Bearberry Extract
    Phyllanthus Emblica
    *Chemically Safe (if you do it small amounts and need professional help to use high dose):*

    Vitamin C (can't use w/ Niacinamide)
    Alpha-arbutin
    Niacinamide (can't use w/ Vitamin C)
    Glutathione
