I had the privilege of meeting and talking baseball with George Brett while in the middle east, he was doing a USO tour with some other players. I love the game of baseball and consider George to be one of the best that I have ever seen play. Getting the chance to meet and talk with him is something I will never forget. He is one of nicest and personal players I have ever met. Cant wait to watch this documentary.
The Royals and Phillies of the late 1970s were like mirror images of each other. Both teams win their division three years in a row. They fail to make the playoffs in 1979, change managers, and finally wind up in the World Series. Brett and Schmidt were both drafted in the same draft (Schmidt was one pick before Brett) and were both the faces of their respective franchises as third basemen.
It is about the numbers as well as the other hardware and leadership skills. He was a Yankee Captain. But the two championships, ROY, MVP, 7 time all star, 3 time gold glove winner. With a .292 average for a catcher, in eleven seasons I think it puts him in one day. You could say Koufax doesn't have the summative numbers, but you would be crazy if you didn't think he was a HOFer.
George Brett is my uncle... not even baseball historians know that he has 2 half sisters... his Dad (my grandfather) Jack cheated on George and Kens mother and had 2 daughters... my mother and my aunt...never met him tho
@@hullrider he's never done a decent interview in his entire career. Maybe he's all MLB Network could afford. The Thurman Munson story has been around for decades and he as a Yankee fan had never heard it? That's lazy. Dude needs to do more homework before interviewing anyone.
I met him when my daughter went to prom with his son. I'd heard the stories about how rude he was. Except he wasn't rude. I think after having so many interrupt dinner or an evening out by fans bothering him, he'd finally had enough. He was s super nice guy to me and my wife.
Not true. You must be fairly young. I remember the Joe Montana, Marcus Allen, Neil Smith and Derrick Thomas era of the Chiefs. It was kind of a big deal. The late 70s Royals were a big deal too.
Yes. Because George Brett give a f--- about any of that. B.S. Brett isn't a millennial crybaby like Mahomes. He actually has a pair. Unlike Mahomes. That fussy baby crabs every time he loses a game.

He’s always come across as a very affable guy.

IMHO He had the greatest batting stance in baseball! I would watch Royal games just to watch George Brett at bat!
agreed - really underrated swing. I love the coil he created.
omg… wish there was video of brett and herzog at that chiefs game! i just realized the way brett talks reminds me of john wayne.
He's The Man
Shout out to Munson, who should be in the hall.
From a Red Sox fan, couldn't agree more.
Like time Munson 15 fan here. Agree !
Yankee fan here. I remember the Fisk / Munson rivalry well. Year later, when Fisk stood up to Deon Sanders, I became a Fisk fan.
The numbers just aren't there. They probably would have been, had he not died so suddenly, but no one knows for sure.

How do I watch it now

Why does this guy talk so loud
Awful NY interviewer.

I think his nutz are in a vice
Great player, not a nice person to his fans.

As big as George Brett was in KC, Patrick Mahomes is 20 times bigger than Brett ever dreamed of being.
Uh, that's not true. Not even close. I've lived through both eras.
@Hof79905 to say that you clearly didn't live in or anywhere near KC from 1975-1990. That man was as big a legend as the city has ever known.
