As a lifelong Tigers fan, I always marveled at all the extra base hits George hit to the gaps in Tiger Stadium. The greatest hitter of my lifetime, and I’m 70

Ugh....He killed the Tigers....There was no way to work him as a hitter

That was awesome. Two very intense competitors who have tremendous respect for each other. Thank you for uploading this.

Brett’s laughs are awesome. It looks like he had a great time covering the stories. I loved the segment with Goose Gossage.

One of my favourite players of all time and the finnest hitters since Ty Cobb, always rivalizing on the stats with Pete Rose.

I wish I could watch this again with my dad. He loved Brett and Goose. I wasn’t yet in school when Brett was in his prime. I remember him when he was in his thirties. My dad knew he was the best hitter in baseball for a lot of years.

The great stat of his MVP season of 1980 was not the .390 average but driving 118 runs in the 117 games Brett played in. Great production! ⚾️

Neither George nor Goose remembered, but I do:
Goose’s pitch that George hit into the upper deck of right field in Yankees Stadium was clocked at 99 mph.
    Announcer stated that.

I don’t even think George would agree with that. Brett was great! But Mike Schmidt was a better all around 3rd baseman.

George Brett still gets coverage, praise and accolades, yet Mike Schmidt is consistently ranked higher as the best 3rd baseman of all time. I'm sorry, I'd take George Brett each and every time

Schmidt was great, but I'd take Brett. Brooks Robinson was before my time, but in a playoff situation Brett was about the best i ever saw.

      Career fielding at 3B:
      1) Robinson .971
      2) Schmidt .955
      3) Brett .951
      Career HRs
      1) Schmidt 548
      2) Brett 317
      3) Robinson 268
      Career AVG
      1) Brett .305
      2) Robinson & Schmidt .267
      Career OBP
      1) Schmidt .380
      2) Brett .369
      3) Robinson .322
I give the offensive nod to Schmidt with the OBP and HRs. Brooks was definitely the superior defensive player.

2:25 - I love how Costas open the questioning with Brett by saying his accomplishments are ancient history and trashing the Royals nation as irrelevant since he retired. Way to go Bob.

Costas nailed it. Brett agreed. Truth hurts. Stop being butt hurt. Try being a Seattle Mariners fan for nearly half century. Royals have a rich history! Shut up.

Best clutch hitter I ever saw. If my team was playing the Royals I would always watch his at-bats. And when the game was close in late innings and Brett was up ... uh oh.
