My Bo story. I was in Newark, trying to get to Portland OR. Only flight open was to SFO, first class. So I paid the extra $$, and lo and behold, Bo sat next to me. I recognized him, and said how much of an influence he was on my youngest son, also a 2-sport athlete. Very cordial, and we talked for most of 5 hours. He signed my ticket, and exchanged cards. He asked if I had a hotel, and I said I was connecting. Ran into him again, as he was with the Sox then. An amazing gentleman.

For as amazing as he was, he was the most humble person on earth when he could have been the most cocky. As an Auburn fan, his touchdown to beat Alabama in 1982 made the series between the two schools even again.

There are a few highlights that make him look like he was some sort of great player. He was not. Look how powerful he is he broke the bat over his knee & again over his helmet. Guess what he struck out those times. But got positive publicity for striking out. Those players you mentioned actually accomplished stuff in a good solid long career. Those guys also were big/clutch in post season. Bo Jackson BA .230 No Hr's No RBI's but did manage to strike out 50% of his AB's

      1. Wilton Norman Chamberlain NBA HOF GOAT, Pro Volleyball HOF. 2 sports at the highest level.
      2. Herschel Walker Pro Football All start in 2 pro leagues, Played HB, FB, and KR, Was an Olympic Bobsledder (9th in the world), A pro MMA fighter with a 5th degree black belt in Taekwondo, and was a world class sprinter (yes faster than Bo 10.23 to 10.44 100m). 3.5 sports at the highest level. Half because he did not run track on the pro level after college.
      3. Jim Thorpe 2x Olympic gold medalist; decathlon 10 events, and pentathlon 5 events. Also competed in the individual Olympic high jump (4th place) and the long jump (7th place). He then won the World All around athletic competition, Then played NFL football and had an HOF career. Then played Major League Baseball, after that he played Pro Basketball too! That is 4 sports at the highest level. Twice as many as Bo.

Could hit a baseball 500ft. ONLY american athlete to be an All-Star in two sports (baseball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer) in ONE YEAR. Most yards per carry in NFL history for those with 500 carries. He was so fast he once walked on a wall 4 steps!! His physical ability far surpasses anyone ever born.
Wilt was slow as molasses. Height doesnt equate to physical ability. Bo was faster than ANYBODY that ever played team sports. Off the charts strength. He could run over men much larger than he. He could jump over two cars parked side by side. The biggest freak of nature ever born.

@@EricKearneyMusic LMAO!! I am beginning to think you are a Bo Fanboy. We'll see.
You actually believe Bo ran a legit 4.1 40?!? Lol. That 40 time is total BS. Bo's times at other distances do not point to him being that quick. His 10.44 100m or his 6.18 55m both WA verified and his documented 4.1 hand timed 30yd dash from home to 1st base during a baseball workout. The 100m is not even in the top 70 fastest by NFL players. The 55m (not a popular distance and only 60.15yds) is slower than:
      James Jett 6.12
      Herschel Walker 6.11
      Curtis Dickey 6.10
      Rocket Ismail 6.07
      Ron Brown 6.07
      Sam Graddy 6.03
None of these men have 4.13 40 times. But you believe that Bo would be ahead of them at the 40yd mark only to be passed and destroyed by a wide margin in only the next 20yds. The 4.1 30yd dash makes it humanly IMPOSSIBLE to cover the last 10yds in 0.02 seconds. LMAO!!
Show me where he could throw a baseball 100m per hour. Why only count 5 sports? Wilt Chamberlain was an all-star in pro Basketball and pro Volleyball. In fact he made both HOF's. Bo did not have the required carries to even be counted in the books for avg yds per carry. In your mind Bo's physical ability far surpasses everyone.
I gave you 3 guys who's athletic resumes are greater than Bo's yet you call it garbage. Lol! That is the response of a fanboy who doesn't deal in reality. As far as Bo being the fastest team sports player Just stop it. The NFL has had 2 former WORLD'S FASTEST HUMANS play in the league. So you can just sit down with that super crap. There have been plenty of players who could run over larger men. Lol. Wilt was not slow. You obviously don't know much about Wilt. Wilt beat Jim Brown in a foot race. Wilt ran 49 seconds in the 440yd dash in hi top sneakers. Wilt and Herschel both threw the shot put farther than Bo. Again Walker himself was faster than Bo. I have already posted their verified times. You are going to have to show proof of the car jumping crap. Your reply will show if you are indeed a fanboy or not.

Not saying he was BO but one of the most underrated 2 sport athletes of all time is Kirk Gibson. Everybody remembers him for that famous HR off Eckersley in the World Series but he was a lot more than that. He was obviously a great baseball player leading multiple teams to championships, being a perennial All Star and winning an MVP.
But what is lesser known is just how great he was at football. He is in the college football Hall of Fame, and according to many NFL evaluators would have been the number 1 pick in the NFL Draft if he chose to enter. Those same evaluators clocked him running a 40 at 4.28 seconds. Gibson was also a relatively large guy too being 6'4 235. Guys that size don't usually run times like that.
Again not saying he was Bo, but it's a shame that his athletic greatness isn't talked about more. He was legit one of the best pure athletes of the last 40 or 50 years. Just a genetic freak that had speed, power and heart and determination(as evident of hitting that famous HR off one leg).

Marcus Allen: "From the first 20 yards I don't know if there is anyone who is as fast as he is." He's talking about a 230 pound, 6'1" man. From what I saw of Bo on the football field I agree. I watched him all the time in many games on TV and not only was he extremely difficult to take down much like Larry Csonka, he was impossible to catch once he had an inch on the defense and he would just turn on his after burners and run into the end zone and this is from anywhere on the football field whether it be the 1 yd line or the 99 yd line. Once he got ahead of you I don't understand why anyone even tried to catch him, he was un-catchable. The guy was a freak of nature. The only other athlete I can think of who compares to and is probably better than Bo as far as athletic ability goes is Wilt Chamberlain.

Many people forget Walker played 3 seasons in the USFL a rival of the NFL in the early 1980's. Walker ran for 5562 yds on 1143 carries 54tds and a 4.9 avg.
