What about when Jesus said “we will be able to do more then him” moving mountains was the reference. He calmed the sea, raised the dead, are you saying we don’t have the power to do that through his name?

@ASKdrBrown I have just started reading your Job commentary. Looking forward to learning from your insights in the book.
I was wondering if you have any update on your academic/technical commentary on Job?

Was the ending with the animal sacrifices unto repentance an affirmation of God's covenant through Isaac rather than through Ishmael ( grandfather of Eliphaz ) ? Thank you Doctor Brown .and why does Job's ancestry seem vague ?

So what would Job say to someone who lost their family in a quick horrible accident? I have no idea. How could I assume to be able to speak for Job on something like that, or for any man for that matter. How absurd the idea. Whatever I might presume he would or would not say would likely cause some laughter from him from heaven, I assume.
However, we might consider some aspects of the good news of God on both sides of the cross. Was it that before the cross on this earth that Jesus suffered, was it that men's sins often opened them up for Satan gaining access to their lives and material things of theirs? I would assume so. The same thing happens today. Sin can often open up legal access for Satan. Some say if you serve him, he will come to collect, and God will allow it.
That being so, is only a part of the truth about human suffering, but it is an important part. Let's remember that truth doesn't change. Many things are a part of the truth and are unchanging. However, they are only a part of the truth.
Does Satan take liberties on his own without having to hear from the Lord that something is in his hand to do with as he pleases? I believe so. Just as an animal who preys on other animals for his food might do, he may take opportunity when he sees it. If someone isn't dwelling under Psalm 91 protection, they might be visited with evil.
Now, let's consider this, If someone isn't dwelling under Psalm 91 protection all the time, does that mean they are an evil person? Well no, not necessarily. Suppose it is their habit, and of their character to dwell under the protection of Psalm 91, but occasionally there is a "hole in the hedge" if we want to call it that. They still might be considered a righteous man overall. Yes, trouble does come to the righteous. It happens.

Why is it always assumed that average people can't read an academic text? Not all of us are stupid! People NEED to be challenged, instead of everything catering to the lowest common denominator

God is all wise, He knew beforehand what was the dimension of Job's faith. He didn't need to test him. Much less give in to Satan's temptation to test Job.
The almighty God could show Satan the size of Job's faith without ever needing to prove it.
In fact, the all-holy God, who does not allow the sinner to come close, such is the size of his holiness, would not allow Satan, the supreme evil, even to come near (in metaphorical terms, of course, since in the dimension of God there may not even be physical distances), much less accept his temptation.

@@Baltic_Hammer6162 I didn't mean my question to be snarky. It seems that Christianity doesn't have a sound concept of evil. On one hand they say that God created everything but we know that He couldn't have created evil because satan wouldn't wouldn't truly been rebelling as he would be following God. Then they say in creating good evil also came into existence like a light in a dark room. The flaw in this is that it implies that the concept of the opposite of light existed.
I believe in the Jewish view that God created evil in order to achieve his will and that satan is the good angle that brings evil into to work to achieve Gods will. This can be seen in Job.

@@Rocketos Because personally it builds character and purifies motives. Also, if God was to take away the suffering in this world, it would be a deception. Because we are filled and surrounded by sin, so suffering reminds us of that. If we damage ourselves physically, the pain we feel is an indicator that something is wrong and something needs fixing. If we felt no pain, we would become comfortable and settle for this world. But God has promised us something greater, so suffering keeps us in hope of that. I'm not saying God causes pain but that He allows us to experience the true nature of our fallen world so that we would be repelled back to Him, who gives greater.

@@garyboulton7524 I got your point. The problem of evil for me is how to conciliate the Holy and Perfect nature of God with his decision of creating a potencial sinful being (Lucifer) that will make a lot of people suffer on earth and ever worse, a lot of them on eternal suffer. All of that, God knowing beforehand

    • @garyboulton7524
      @garyboulton7524 4 года назад

@@Rocketos right. I get that problem. I think we need to think about these things, because God is bigger enough to deal with it, it doesnt hurt his feelings. Sometimes we try to not allow ourselves to think about certain stuff, because we fear upsetting God but I dont think that's gonna happen.
In regards to that problem, I have thought about it a bit. The conclusion I came to was the problem of sin in general. If God was to create us, then we would have to have free will or there could be no love. Because love is freely given. But if there is free will there is always the possibility of sin. And it doesnt matter how long it takes but sin will eventually come into the world. So God, in His desire to have humans be apart of His family. He made us, knowing sin would come into the world, so that He could defeat it. And at the end of the day, everybody gets what they choose. Hell is definitely sad but it's not as if those who enter it don't want it, because it was their decision. Those that want God will have God and those that dont will not.
That's a bad way to articulate it, I need to sharpen the idea a bit more. But yeah, what do you think?
The alternative is that God doesnt create us, and to be honest, I would go through all the pain I've ever be through a million more times to also experience the good times and especially what is to come.

@@garyboulton7524 From what I understand you defend that God created the garden of Eden with Adam and Eve but that they had no free will, and in order for them to obtain that free will, God had to create the tree (s) that he knew in advance that they would eat. Thus, suffering entered the world and eternal punishment for the choice of two human beings, with the help of a fallen angel that God allowed to encourage them to evil.
